Chapter 6
THEN
Sour Bill gripped the licorice rope as it pulled taught and loosened repeatedly. His head was still fuzzy from being out cold for so long, and his body seemed to ache with weariness. Sour Bill wanted to lie down and forget the world for a moment, just let himself slip into nothing. But he was doing this for a reason and only one reason only.
Her.
Her, the little sugar sweet princess, he was doing this for her. And he was a cold traitor for it.
He could of let her die; let her wander to a place with no boundaries to hold her back. She could be free, and not stuck in a cruel game in which she was a pawn, a child, an innocent victim. But no, she was here, here in which she meant much more to this haunting game than anyone could imagine.
Shaking his head, Sour Bill tried to clear those horrid thoughts that swam about in his mind. However, they kept coming back, scaring him more each time, taunting, simulating her would-be-dying screams.
Sour Bill pulled himself out of the cold grasp of his overreacting imagination and set his thoughts on the man, no the monster that swam within the depths of the dark chamber ahead of him. Gripping the slick candy made rope, Sour Bill made an effort not to look behind him where he knew that the princess lay, and instead focused on the never ending blackness ahead.
The wires glowed and hummed around Turbo as he gently swam about, searching for a certain princess's code.
"I could of sthwore I justh passthed it by." The imposter growled as he yet again ducked below yet another living wire, "It can't sthay hidden forever, I will find that damned thing."
Bracing his feet against one code box, Turbo launched himself into a tangle of wires and got stuck trying to wiggle about them. In his mist of struggle a bright code box caught his attention and when he saw it he couldn't help but smile.
Finally freeing himself from the mess of wires, Turbo hastily made his way to the code box as if it would disappear from him. Stroking the lovely pink box Turbo slid his hand up and wrapped his greedy fingers gently around a bundle of cords that protruded from the top. His grin widened as he gently pulled upward, and then jerked his whole arm upward rapidly. When a few cords came loose that only fueled his growing madness. Grabbing more with both hands Turbo jerked and laughed. He was grinning madly now, each lifeless wire that floated around him only felled him with glee and in felt wonderful. He kept ripping and giggling until a badly glitching box was left.
Placing his hands on the edge of the box, Turbo roughly pushed it away letting it wander into the abyss. After he watched it disappear, Turbo grabbed ahold of a stray chest and went about to some other business that needed attended too.
Sour Bill was pulled away from his mind as the harsh sound of screaming erupted behind him. Careful not to let go of the rope, he spun around and gasped. Vanellope was wide awake, but her code was glitching out of control, switching from one dress to another or buzzing and separating at the same time. She screamed each time her code separated and slapped itself together again and again.
Vanellope cried and crawled towards Sour Bill but to his own horror, He backed away from her and at the same time he felt a tug on the rope. Caught trying to stay away from the screaming princess and reel in the monster from the chamber, Sour Bill found himself crying. This was horrible, just utterly horrible. Turning his back to the Princess for a moment, Sour Bill upheld his part of the bargain and pulled in the monster.
Once the false king had placed his feet upon the ground Sour Bill spun to face the princess, but suddenly felt groggily. Closing his eyes for a moment Sour Bill opened them again to find a strange girl in front of him .Dressed in a green hoodie and a reese cup frilled skirt, this poor creature looked lost.
'Who is she?' Sour Bill thought, 'and why is she crying?'
But before Sour Bill could approach this poor girl, his king stepped in for him.
"My dear, may I askth why are you crying?" asked the king in a honey sweet voice as the girl looked up at him.
"W-who are you?" Vanellope asked, " and where am I?"
" Hoo Hoo! Why my little one, you are in my casthle! And I am your ruler, King Candy!"
Vanellope wiped away stray tears as she took in her surroundings, but her gaze settled on the green candy ball infront of her.
"Who is he?" she asked as she pointed her finger at Sour Bill. The King looked at Sour Bill before grinning.
"Why my little one, he is my most trusted assistant! Come over here Sour Bill and say hello won't you?"
Sour Bill did as he was told, but he could sense something about her but he dismissed it. Soon his king explained to the little girl about the sugary world as they all left the room. The sweet girl was so excited when he mentioned racing, she jumped up and around. She gripped the king's tail coat and begged him to tell her more.
Sour Bill smiled as the elderly King bent down on one knee as they entered the throne room and told her all that she wanted hear. But when she asked when she could race, his kings answer made Sour bills smile vanish.
"I'm Thorry dear, But you cannot race. I am sthorry to inform you that you are a glitch and glitchs cannot race, they are just too hazardous on the track. You could stherously hurt sthome one."
Sour Bill watched as she raised her head and asked," what is a glitch? And can this problem be fixed? If it can then I can race! Please oh please?"
But the king only shook his head," I'm afraid you don't understand, you can never race dear, you are a flaw in the program. Your flaw cannot be fixed. It sthimply isthn't done. I'm sthorry that you have to go through this, here let me get my guards they will take you home."
But when the guards came the poor soul was sobbing, "Please don't send me away!"
But King Candy only shook his head once more, "I cannot keep you here, you must leave. Again I am deeply sthorry. Goodbye and please do not let me see you near the tracks, it is too dangerous and if I see you I will have enforce the rules in a way I wish I never have to. Goodbye."
Sour Bill watched as she tried to plead again but she was carried away and then went limp in the Oreos grasp.
'Poor Soul' Sour Bill thought as the doors closed with a click, 'I hope she'll be alright'
But behind Sour Bill his 'new' king was grinning ear to ear and he watched the sun in the sky shine brightly down upon the kingdom through his glass windows.
A new day had begun.
