Naruto walked along the mountain trail, not really sure how long he had been walking though he knew that it couldn't have been that long… he was still full from breakfast so that had to mean something right? Though, as he had walked he couldn't help but notice how odd it was, he could feel the ground rumble the tiniest bit as he walked though he couldn't be sure if it was the mountain doing that or something else. There had to be something wrong with the mountain for him to be able to feel it shake like this from the bottom of the mountain trail.
"What do you think Hinata? What could cause the mountain to shake like this?" asked Naruto as he looked down at his shadow.
Soon, Hinata's shadow form appeared from the man's shadow and stared at him with her lavender coloured eye. She had her two index fingers together as if she was nervous about something… what could make her nervous? She stays in his shadow until he goes into his fox form anyway… Yet, it was the way that she was looking around that told him everything, she was scared about something… "Hinata? What's wrong?"
"The mountain is angry… it is said to be a holy place for the Gorons… It isn't just where they get their food source or how they can get materials for people but it is a sacred place because it once was visited by a great hero in the past." Calmly said Hinata while looking between Naruto and the mountain. Yup, there was something else… there had to be… "I get the feeling that the mountain is angry because of a Fused Shadow…"
Well, that did explain a bit about why she had been so quiet about the whole thing though he knew that he had to cheer her up somehow… To see her so nervous like this made him worry… "Don't worry Hinata! With this bracelet that Sai gave me I don't think anything can hurt us!" Naruto declared as he held up his wrist that contained the bracelet… even though he still didn't know what it does. That was something that bothered him a great deal and it pissed him off a great deal… Staring at Hinata's smiling face though; it made it worth not knowing what it does yet. "Come on Hinata, let's keep going. I'll make sure that nothing hurts ya, even if you are in shadow form right now."
Hinata smiled gently at Naruto before going back into the young man's shadow. Though now he was kinda, on his own. After all, Hinata couldn't answer everything for him so there wasn't much of a point in bugging her about some of these things, after all he was a hero now and he had to learn some of this stuff on his own… right?
Taking a deep breath, the young man looked up only to blink then groan. "How high up is this mountain!?" shouted Naruto before scratching the back of his head. It almost seemed like it would be an endless journey for him. Sure he loved being able to travel though it just seemed like he was more focused on finding and going to temples than finding his mother…
He hoped that he would find her soon… he didn't want to lose her, after all she was the only mother he would ever have. Inhaling softly, the young man just wanted to enjoy himself while on this journey though maybe it could have been worse than it really was. After all, he had Hinata with him, she was great company and she was nice…
Looking back up, he saw that he was getting closer to the mountain though he saw that there was some kind of fence that worked its way up. It looked like he could climb it so that was something. "I just hope we can get up there… The Gorons only care about strength after all and they only let a few people onto their home." said Hinata with a frown. Man, he could tell she frowned when she was worried. Did she think that he was going to get hurt because of this? Well he couldn't really be sure…
Inhaling softly, Naruto kept on walking toward the fence hoping that it would lead him to the path that he had to take in order to get to the top of the mountain. Though he also hoped that it would just remain easy when he climbed this thing and that he would haven't have any kind of trouble as he did. Crossing his arms, the young man looked at his wrist as he tried to think on what it would do… how could it help him on his journey? Nothing made sense to him; maybe it would only turn on if he called it to?
'Why does this have to be so damn confusing?' thought Naruto with a sigh before he looked back up and saw that he had gotten to the gate. Shaking his head, Naruto started to climb on up the gate, hoping that he would be able to get up there as soon as he could. If it wasn't for his super strength he didn't think that he could handle pulling up his own body weight even if he had worked out enough… mostly because of how high up he had to climb up.
'Naruto are you sure you will be able to get to the mountain?' asked Hinata when she came out of his shadow. To be honest, he wasn't sure though he still had to do this. He had a mission to complete and he would make sure that he got it done no matter the cost. After all, who could say they went to all the temples and saved the world right? Not many people for sure though there had to be more to this than what meets the eye. Yet, he just wasn't sure what it could be as of yet.
Soon, Naruto found himself up on top of the gate to find himself on another pathway. Tilting his head, Naruto didn't think that it would be like this but hey, he saw that he was closer now so that had to mean something right? Looking up he thought he heard someone gasp out in shock causing the young man to frown when about a hundred feet away stared at him. "You! Humans not allowed on Sacred Mountain!"
Getting a better look at the creature, he saw that the creature was an earthy brown with some kind of tribal designs at least from what he could make out. The creature was muscular and large even from this distance. "I'm here on official business! I must go to Death Mountain to the Temple of Fire." Naruto said with a serious expression on his face. He wasn't afraid of this creature… well, he was assuming that it was a Goron, why else would there be this kind of creature be on this mountain?
"No humans!" shouted the Goron before curling up in a fetal position and rolling toward the blonde hero. Naruto yelped in shock, he tried moving from side to side but it seemed to have done little to nothing. The Goron seemed to have sensed where Naruto was going though just by the sheer force the ground shook beneath his feet. "The hell!?" shouted Naruto as he tried to get out of the way though it seemed that no matter what he did, he couldn't do anything. Covering his face with his arms, Naruto prayed that he wouldn't be able feel the pain!
Suddenly, he heard Hinata gasp out in shock causing Naruto to open his eyes and blink in shock. The Goron was still rolling at him but something was preventing him from hitting Naruto. It was a shield made of pure and utter light… The light was orange and red, and blue. He wasn't sure what the colours meant though, but he wasn't going to complain. The more he looked at the shield, he more he saw that the colours were part of the triforce that decorated the shield. The triangle on the top was red; the triangle on the left was blue, while the one on the right was orange. That was amazing but at the same time it made him wonder if those were the colours that represented the goddesses…
Looking down at his bracelet, Naruto saw that it was glowing a bright gold, was this what it was? It was a shield? That's just awesome! It was the one thing that he needed and now he had a freaking shield for the price of nothing! When he saw Sai again he was going to thank that guy for this thing, it was just that awesome that's for sure, though he wondered if that was the only thing it could do though at the moment he wasn't going to complain about it.
"I'm gonna push you back!" shouted Naruto as he tried to push the Goron back, only for it to fail. Before he knew it, the Goron had managed to push in more power with his constant rolling, causing the young hero to dig his shoes into the ground. "Damn it!" shouted Naruto through gritted teeth before the shield shattered and disappeared back into his bracelet. With that, the Goron slammed into the blonde haired young man causing him to scream and fall backward and toward the ground.
"Naruto!" shouted Hinata, not having returned to Naruto's shadow yet.
Naruto didn't know how long he had been falling though what he did know was that he had felt a great deal of pain shooting through his body. It was amazing that his back didn't break from the force of the fall and on how hard he had landed on his back. Hinata floated right down toward the fallen hero as she groaned and opened his eye a crack just in time to see the Goron looking down from the cliff side. "You weak no deserve to be on the mountain." Said the Goron before walking away back up toward the mountain.
"Naruto, say something please!" cried Hinata with a frown on her face. Naruto blinked slowly through the pain, trying to process everything that had happened through his pain. It seemed that no matter what, the pain wouldn't fade away from him for the time being… not yet anyway. Breathing deeply, the young man tried to get his breathing under control. Groaning, the young man pushed himself up slowly, his body felt extremely sore and painful though not as bad…
Now that he thought about it, it felt like the pain was slowly fading, not very quickly but slowly… "I'll be alright… but I'll have to find a way to get up the mountain…" mumbled Naruto as he took a gasping breath and made his way up onto his feet and started to make his way back down the path back to the town… Maybe there was something down there that he could use, though to be honest he wasn't sure what it could be that would work…
"Ugh… my back is killing me…" Naruto mumbled before he kept on walking back toward the town. Hinata though, she was fussing over him, wanting to make sure that he was really okay. Sure, he didn't mind it though he knew that it was because she cared about him. That was enough to make him smile a bit though it was sad that she couldn't really do much for him while in shadow form… for example, he could use a nice back rub but that won't happen unless he had entered the Twilight Door which, may not happen for a while.
"Maybe you should lay down Naruto… it can't be good for your back to be walking around like this…" said Hinata with a frown.
"I'll be fine Hinata, don't worry about me." Naruto said with a smile, he wasn't even sure if he was healing… The young man was trying to remember if Hinata had mentioned this to him before or if it had never been mentioned. Either way, he knew that it would be something that needed to be explained to him either way. Then, he saw that he had arrived back into the town and smiled brightly though he knew that he had to get some answers from Tsunade or even Shikamaru.
At the moment though, he felt like he would need something to help his back get back in place…
"Ah! Mother fucking hell that hurts like a bitch! How does walking on my back help me?!" shouted Naruto. Ever since he came back to the village, he had told Tsunade that the Goron had managed to shove him off the cliff causing the hero to land hard on his back… and that his back was causing him a great deal of pain. Tsunade's solution, walking on Naruto's back in order to put it back into place… that was the plan anyway and all it did was cause him even more pain.
Crack, crack, crack, crack!
"Son of a bitch that hurts! Stop walking on my back damn it!" shouted Naruto as he writhed in pain. It was amazing that the woman could even keep her balance on his back with him moving like he was. Of all the things that she could have done for his back, it had to be having an old big busted woman walking on his back. That just figures now doesn't it…? Though while he was trying to figure out what he could do about defeating the Gorons. It was the only way for him to be able to get to the Temple… though as to how he could defeat the Gorons was another story altogether.
Breathing softly, he just kept his face buried against his pillow while trying to think of some kind of plan… yet; nothing came to mind for him. He just couldn't think of anything or anyone that could defeat the Gorons or give him some kind of leverage. There just had to be something, anything really but no matter what he just couldn't think of what it was that he could use to give himself some kind of help. Even Hinata wasn't sure what it was that could help him… Nothing came to mind and it pissed him off to new levels.
"So, how did it go anyway?" asked Tsunade.
"Oh great really. They gave me tea and cookies and we chatted about them letting me inside the temple so I could get something so I can go to the next temple." Naruto said sarcastically.
"You don't need to be an ass Naruto. I'm thankful that the kids are outside playing." Mumbled Tsunade as she walked along the poor man's spine.
Naruto clenched his hands into fists as he tried to ignore the pain of the woman walking on his back though his thoughts went back to what had happened on the mountain. "Hey… Tsunade, how can I get up the mountain if I can't beat a Goron? Is it even possible to beat them?" He felt the woman stop walking for a moment before she went back to walking along his back. Had there been someone that had defeated them? Someone… human? There had to be someone that had been human that had handled this before in the past. There had to be someone at the very least…
"Long, long ago, there was a hero that had saved the Gorons and had a few battles with them. He used some kind of special boots that helped him battle and beat the Gorons, and that they have been kept safe all these years and been through the hero's family after all these years." Okay now that had him interested in who the hero's family was. Maybe if he could find them, they would give him the boots that could help him beat the Gorons so he could go into the temple. There had to be some kind of clue as to who the hero's family was…
"In fact, now that I think about it, around ten years ago I saw a young man go up the mountain; he was carrying some strange boots though he seemed confident." Tsunade chuckled a little then added "he stayed here for a bit since he walked all the way here from his home. He told me that he had a nice family, a wife and a little boy. He wanted to prove that he can be as powerful as a Goron and in order to do that was to use his family heirloom."
"What happened?" asked Naruto with confusion.
"He went up the mountain and came back after a week I believe. He was covered in some bruises but he had a big grin on his face. He said he won the battle and had proven himself to them. There was nothing more that mattered to him than that he had proven himself to be a powerful warrior like his ancestor and had started to head home. I don't remember much else about it only that he said that he had to head on home to start training his son to be a warrior."
A warrior huh? That was something, it made Naruto curious as to who the boy was, if it was ten years ago the kid may be a teen or even a young adult by now depending how old the kid was at the time. It was a puzzling thing that's for sure, though he knew that there was more to this than that. Inhaling softly, Naruto looked up and saw that Tsunade was starting to walk off the man's back and that was when Naruto felt like his back felt so much better. "Oh wait, he said 'now that I have proven myself to be powerful enough to protect my village, but I know that I can protect my wife Kushina, and train my son Naruto to be a powerful young man and a great warrior who I can entrust the village to one day.'"
As soon as he had heard that, Naruto remembered that… His dad had left ten years ago, he left and was gone for a while and not to mentioned… when he came back he saw some yellow marks on his skin that showed him that his father had some healing bruises on his skin. There was no way that it could have been but… it was possible… that it was his father but did that mean that he was a descendent of a hero?
"Holy shit!"
