A/N: Hello everyone! It's been more than a year since I've updated this story, so sorry about that. But here is chapter 3, and I hope you enjoy!
Chapter 3: Memories?
Roy woke with a start, wondering what was happening. Looking around, he realized he had only been dreaming. Or was he? He decided to ignore his thoughts, as he was only confusing himself even more. There were more important things to figure out at the moment.
Where am I?
Upon furtherinspection, Roy saw he was in pretty decent room. The walls were plain, but looked newoverall. He could see what he assumed was a closet door, and also an open door that he could see led to a bathroom. At least he could tell wherever he was, he wasn't a hostage.
He decided to get up and try to look around some, more, perhaps outside and beyond, however, he was forced to sit back down on the bed due to a searing pain he felt shoot up his leg. He let out a yell, and a moment later footsteps and muffled voices could be heard. He stared at the door, waiting for the footsteps and voices to reach his room, and the door opened to reveal two strange people.
One was male, the other a woman, and both appeared to be of the same race; he could tell since they both had elf-like ears. Aside from that, the only observation he could make at the moment was of the male's strange clothing.
"We heard you yell from our rooms, are you okay Roy?" the male asked.
There was a clear tone of concern in his voice, but Roy couldn't help but stare at him in confusion of how they knew his name.
"Ugh, you're supposed to introduce yourself before talking to new people! You should know that!" the woman scolded the male, who tried to protest but she cut him off by starting to introduce herself, "Sorry about that, my name is Zelda, the princess of Hyrule, and this is Link. He may not be the best with people, but my kingdom is greatly in debt of his heroic actions."
"Is that where I am? Hyrule?" Roy asked. He was still confused, but at least he knew who they were, and they didn't seem like bad people.
Link was the first to speak, "Actually, we are at the Smash Mansion at the moment. This place is where heroes from many different worlds come to compete in an all out fighting tournament."
"Oh yeah, it was all good clearing things up a bit for you, but Master hand wants to talk to you right now. I'm sure he'll clear things up completely for you!" Zelda assured Roy, and Link whispered something to Zelda. "Oh! That's right! Now that you're awake, I'll go ahead and heal your leg. I didn't want to wake you up before, so I guess now's the time!"
When Zelda finished speaking, she put her hands out in front of her, pointed in Roy's direction, and closed her eyes. Her hands began to glow, a bright light engulfing them, and soon Roy's leg lit up faintly as well. At first he was surprised, but then he remembered seeing magic before. He couldn't quite grasp from where exactly though. Eventually, both sources of light died down and disappeared, and Roy tried standing up once leg had been fully healed, and he thanked Zelda.
Now the three began to walk down the halls of the mansion, and Roy continued to look around as they walked to Master Hand's "office" so they called it. The halls were pretty wide, and he could see a particular symbol on many things. It was a circle with a sort of plus sign through it, but not in the center, more off to the bottom left part of the circle. The symbol, which Roy assumed was the Smash tournament's symbol, was on metal plates on each door, the doors themselves, repeated on the walls, on banners, and even on larger tiles of the was snapped out of his thoughts when he realized they had arrived at Master Hand's quarters.
"Good luck! Come find us later when you're done, okay?" Zelda said, and she and Link waved and left.
Roy was left standing in front of huge, heavy looking doors. Who needs such large doors anyway? he asked himself, and he knocked on the doors. His eyes widened when the doors opened by themselves, and his jaw dropped when they opened to reveal a large floating hand.
Do not be alarmed, was all it said.
Wait, what?! Roy thought. The hand was speaking with telepathy! Could it also read his mind?
You can call me Master Hand, and yes, I can read your thoughts. Now let's get started. First off, welcome to the Mansion. I hope you enjoy your stay here, and don't worry, there are many other people to meet. Now for more troubling matters. I'm sure you're wondering how you got here, and why you're memory seems to be gone. I actually did talk to you before you got here, and your memory should come back in a while. So, you agreed to come here to train and become stronger, and also because you have been troubled by strange dreams lately. Well, these dreams are warnings of darkness to come, and I believe you can help out with this…
The more Master Hand spoke, the dizzier Roy became, until he suddenly blacked out. When be woke up, it seemed as if time hadn't passed at all, and Roy suddenly felt a lot sharper in the mind. The reason for this was, as Roy now remembered, Master Hand had triggered Roy's memories to come back by repeating a very important phrase they had agreed on to help him get his memory back when he was going to come to the mansion. Roy looked up, and nodded to Master Hand.
Wonderful. Now that you're really here, we can get down to business.
Roy swore he could almost see the hand grinning. Somehow…
