"Gaara!" Naruto stood up happily and strode to the front of the classroom to bring the other into an tight bear hug. The other stood there momentarily, simply letting the blond hug him, before he somehow managed to unlatch himself from the overly excited blond. That itself was amazing because once Naruto hugged someone it was hard to get him off. Sasuke watched the interaction between the two, they were seemingly complete opposites so it had taken the whole class by surprise when Naruto of all people stood up and hugged the new student. Something about his eyes though rubbed the Uchiha the wrong way and from the way 'Gaara' was looking back at him he could tell the feeling was mutual.

"Naruto Uzumaki," Gaara said slowly in his deep gravelly voice. If it were anyone else they would most likely mistake his tone for hate, but Naruto knew better as he grabbed Gaara's hand and led the red head back to the empty seat behind none other than Sasuke. The Uchiha raised an eyebrow at him as he walked past, but Naruto ignored it and was about to continue talking with Gaara until Asuma coughed, "Well, I'm glad you two boys got to meet again, but I really must start class again, so Naruto, if you would please take a seat."

"Oh, sorry Asuma-sensei." He had forgotten he was in the middle of class, luckily it was his final class. Naruto took his seat and from behind him he heard Sasuke mutter, "Dobe." He rolled his eyes and normally would have returned sleeping but he was to excited! One of his old friends was in his class, who wouldn't be excited? Naruto was now a hyperactive ball of energy that couldn't sit still and stop glancing behind him to the redhead who never again acknowledged him after the hug. That was okay though, he was used to it.

Sasuke, however, continued to get pissed off each time the blond turned his head, so much so that when he turned around Sasuke's fingers were ready to poke him in the eyes. Naruto hissed in pain and received a warning to turn back around as his eyes watered.

"Pay attention to class, Idiot." Naruto frowned as he wiped his face,"Bastard." He stopped constantly looking over his shoulder, it wasn't like Gaara was going anywhere anytime soon. Still! Naruto forced himself to tap his fingers rhythmically on his desk so as to let himself blow off some energy, but the hour seemed to last forever. Somewhere along the line he began watching the clock like a hawk and counting down the seconds until the chime was supposed to go off.

3...2...1...Ding-dong-ding-dong. Naruto was up in an instant, almost tripping over the bastard's long legs as he went to his old friend's side while the rest of the class left to go home.

"Why didn't you tell me you were coming?" Gaara looked at him with the lifeless green eyes that would unnerve most people. "Temari said it should be a surprise," he said simply. Gaara was never exactly one for words, which made him perfect for the blond who never seemed to shut up. Naruto laughed happily and wrapped an arm around the others shoulders.

"Sounds like her, how 'bout Kankuro? I don't think he'd be the type to move somewhere suddenly without a fuss."

"He isn't." Gaara made a disgusted face, "So I shut him up." Naruto gulped, he'd seen the redhead fight before. The redhead was merciless, breaking bones whenever he was pissed off enough. He chuckled nervously, "He's your brother! You didn't hurt him too bad did you?" Gaara remained silent and Naruto knew that Kankuro had probably seen better days. Instead Gaara's attention turned onto the Uchiha who had been quietly watching them talk with his usual stoic face.

"Sasuke Uchiha," his voice took on a dangerous level of low and Naruto vaguely remembered telling his old friend all about the years of torment he'd received. Sasuke wasn't exactly surprised that the redhead somehow knew him and his named, he had suspected Naruto told him about him since the redhead first glared at him. Naruto tightened his hold around Gaar's shoulders, "It's not like that anymore Gaara, we're friends." Gaara getting into a fight with Sasuke on his first day would be nothing but trouble, and there was also the fact both of them were maniacs when they fought so he really did not want to have to come between them.

Green eyes narrowed into a glare that cool charcoal could only return with unspoken promises of hell. Naruto got shivers from just watching, "Ne~, why don't you show me your house? You just moved, I can help unpack things."

"Temari...said not to...until she finished decorating." Gaara turned his gaze away from the raven and swiped Naruto's arm off. Naruto laughed nervously, "Seriously? All she does is attach her fans to every single room, how long could that possibly take?" Gaara responded with a shrug while he picked up his gourd like backpack. He looked down at the raven with intrigue, "I don't know how you convinced Naruto to forgive you, but that doesn't mean I have." Naruto's mouth fell open at the challenge and at the fact that was probably the most he'd ever heard Gaara say in a sentence.

And just like that Gaara left the two like he hadn't just challenged the Uchiha. Sasuke's hand clenched into a fist while Naruto scampered after the redhead. Eventually Naruto caught up with the redhead who walked faster than the average person, seeing as how Naruto had to run. He was out of breath when he put his hand on Gaara's shoulder to stop him from continuing.

"Really," he inhaled quickly, "I've got everything handled, believe it!" Gaara watched as his friend caught his breath, Naruto was his first friend and Sasuke was his first true enemy without him even knowing it at the time. Mint eyes gazed back at the school where he knew the Uchiha was. Naruto was forgiving and that his best and worst quality, he could probably befriend the person who might try and mug him if he wanted. Not like would evrer happen now that he was here to protect the boy. He slowly blinked, dark thoughts coming from deep within aided by his insomnia.

Gaara had always had issues and lack of sleep made them even worse, add that with a short temper and you got a potential killer, he would never go that far if he didn't have to. He never voiced his thoughts to anyone, choosing to stay quiet and be the freak he knew he was. Naruto, however, accepted him even knowing he was a freak who could never be loved. Gaara lightly patted the blondls head, who looked up at him with cerulean blue eyes.

Naruto beamed, "Thanks, I knew you would understand." Gaara understood that Naruto was stubborn and wouldn't be quiet until he got his way. The boy's determination to do things on his own would never cease to amaze him. He mentally promised himself to let Naruto handle things if the Uchiha was in both of their presences, he made no promises about what would happen if he and the Uchiha happened to be alone on any occasion.

"Great, now that that is settled let me introduce you to my friend Kiba!" Naruto grabbed his hand and pulled him to the parking lot he knew Kiba would be in. He however didn't expect to see his friend bickering with a long haired pervert, AKA Neji. It was also a surprise to see Kiba get pinned against his own car with his arm pulled dangerously behind his back, shit now things could get bad.

"Hey!" Naruto called out as he rushed to pull Neji away from Kiba. Neji went without a fuss, simply smirking, "Looks like you were saved by your night in shining armor, mutt." Kiba's eye twitched as Neji took his leave before he straightened out his clothes.

"Thanks man," he muttered scratching behind his ear. Kiba looked up to see the redhead, staring at him with his lifeless orbs. Naruto smiled, "That's Gaara, he just got here, but he's a friend from my old town before I moved back here. Kiba nodded and smiled softly as he held out his hand, "Kiba Inuzuka." Gaara made no effort to take it so Kiba awkwardly played it of as if he was checking a stain on his sleeve.

"So, what happened?" Kiba shrugged, "I called him a dick for not letting me see Hinata-chan but he got all pissy and well... you know the rest." Naruto nodded, not entirely believing that his friend told him the entire truth, "He does have a stick up his ass." Kiba smiled, "Yeah. So, am I taking you home or are you going with him?" Normally Kiba would have jokingly called him something outrageous, this dude however gave him the creeps and he decided it wasn't worth his life to insult someone he just met.

"I think I'll go home with him." Gaara crossed his arms, "No." Naruto smiled, "Why not? I mean it's not like I care about the decor."

"No." Gaara turned and left, getting the final say. Kiba laughed, "Guess you're stuck with me loser."

"I know. I almost got away from having to get a whiff of your nasty ass dog-breath." Kiba glared, but popped a mint in anyways. His old crush in like kinder-garden(Ino) rejected him, claiming he had dog breath and ever since he'd been traumatized and brushed his teeth like five times a day. He definitely had pearly whites and never smelled bad except after he'd been doused in slobber by Akamaru. Still, sensitive subject for the brunette.

The boys got in the car and instantly Naruto popped in Kiba's favorite CD as a silent apology. Naruto took Kiba's quiet humming as a form of acceptance, " You should really get a radio installed and new speakers, only one of them works." The brunette just patted the dashboard, "My baby is fine just the way she is."

"Sure, keep saying that until your last speaker gives up on life." Kiba shrugged, and the two sat in silence as the scenery changed while Dirty Little secrets by All-American Rejects played in the background.
