Chapter 13: Curious and Sweet Smiles

(A/N: Part of this goes to a movie, I liked the format and the way it was worded, it fitted with the story so it goes to the movie, however a few words I added to make it better)

(Another A/N: ACK! Sorry for making everyone wait I um….shorta kinda forgot about this story, Right now I am currently working for a company called Maximus (a government job) so I haven't had much time to do anything besides sleep (I work grave yard 2:30 to 11:00) so yeah, on with the story

Sapphire's Pov (Kagome)

I went out shopping for food considering I have two more mouths to feed, not that I am complaining, it was nice having my two best friends living with me, Shippo came with me eager to get more candy, I laugh he sure does love his candy, I was in the store, while my son seemed to disappear, most mothers would be freaking out that their kid was missing and calling the cops or the swat team or whatever.

However Shippo wasn't "any" kid he grew up on the streets so he knows his way around and how to avoid trouble, so I continue shopping making sure I grab extra candy and other snacks like- fruit snacks, gummy worms, fruit roll up etc etc. once done I pay and walk out and then I start to wonder "where is my son?" the answer was soon given when I hear Shippo's voice not too far away, walking over what I see and hear surprises me, walking over while putting my groceries down not too far away on a bench and approaching my son

Shippo was crotched in front of a hole in the wall and then I hear-

~NORMAL POV (for a second or so) ~

[Shippo] Now, you come out on three!

One,

Two.

Three!

Come on. Come on out, no one's gonna hurt you

[Sapphire] Hey, hey what's going on?

[Shippo] "The little Kittens haven't had anything to drink or eat, I think they're scared of me (Shippo says while waving his hand)

[Sapphire] "Who wouldn't be you are pretty scary" (sarcasm)

[Shippo] (Growls) (While holding his clawed hands up to look 'scary')

[Sapphire] (Chuckles) come on over guys

[Kittens] (Grunting/whimpering)

[Sapphire] Take it easy, don't worry, He's just a hair ball

[Shippo] and proud of it! Come on momma's gonna get you some water and food!

(Kittens slowly but hesitantly come out of their hiding spot)

-Sapphire's Pov-

I walk over to the bench shifting through my mountain of groceries, finding the sandwiches that were already pre-rapped and some juice pouches, I set them on the table, but before I could bring out more I hear them both start snarling at each other and I say "Whoa, hey, hey, hey, come on. Knock it off, let's work together here huh? A little team work" they quiet down and look at each other than at me with apology looks, I hand them there food they take it hesitantly before looking at the sandwiches I watched amused as they switched. I sweat drop there the same…I think? Anyways

I look down at Shippo and say "Good Job Shippo" then I say "so, where are your parents anyways?" what I wasn't expecting was a deep baritone voice to answer "A lot of them are on their own now" turning I gape at who I see, he walks out and all in his glory it was Sesshomaru! I snap out of my shock when I hear him say

"You like kids I see" I resort back with "well, the skinny ones can be a little chewy" he chuckled! He actually chuckled I blush and say "I'm Sapphire…the homeless girl you helped the other day…" he nod, I notice he looked me over (usually I would automatically feel disgusted) but I swear I saw concern flash in his eyes but before I could ask it disappeared as fast as it appeared, I couldn't help but think "awe…how sweet of him" it was silent for a few moment before I say blushing even more

"ohh…um…sorry about that…I-" but before I could finish he interrupts me, giving a soft laugh my eyes went wide with shock, and says "your probably right...but don't be sorry" curiosity replaced the shock and I ask "why did you help me? He smirks and says "what else could I do? Leave you behind with him present with ill intentions towards you" I gape (again) at him before saying stubbornly "as much as I appreciate you saving me, but I have you know I can defend myself..." I look down and say softer "living on the streets is proof" then I look up at him with determination and say "you don't survive if-'he cuts me off finishing for me "you're not strong enough" "well…yea" I say

- [In case you're wondering about Shippo and the two little Kittens] -

(A/N: Can't think of any names for the 2 kittens -)

*Kittens Pov*

Shippo and the Kittens watched with wide eyes as the two adults exchange words, the kittens was going to answer but before they could a new voice intercepted and said "A lot of them are on their own now" which was true they think sadly, but then the voice said "you like kids I see"

The female laughs and says "well, the skinny ones can be a little chewy" they cringe, but the fox kit told them she was just being silly and joking around, then he tells them that (while pointing at Sesshomaru) he saved her from a scary man,

They couldn't help but give "ooo' and 'ahhs" but they were still unsure but both deciding to stay on the brighter side of this situation, the lady had given them some food, it had been days maybe or months before they had any real food, so for the moment they were happy.

-Sesshomaru Pov-

I was walking, nowhere in mind just letting my feet take me wherever they wanted, I keep thinking (not by choice, I mind you) about Kagome and the girl…I saved from that-that fool of a bastard, her name is if I remember correctly it was…'Sapphire', then my thoughts drifted to the other, the doctor, she was beautiful with long raven hair and the most stunning blue eyes I have ever seen but that's not the only thing she was strong and feisty her name is Kagome,

but then his mind seemed to hate him and it drifted back to the homeless girl (again) she has long blonde hair and dazzling green eyes, though I bet if she took a proper shower I would able to see exactly what she looks like, most likely stunning beautiful, I sigh and think annoyed "talk about a cluster fuck…" and then I hear a voice 'Huh?' I think walking closer I see one of the two females who have seemed to fill my mind and then I hear ""Whoa, hey, hey, hey, come on. Knock it off, let's work together here huh? A little team work" I blink I was beyond fascinated

I watched as they quiet down and look at each other than at her with apology looks, and then she hands them there food, I noticed they had taken it hesitantly (which I could understand they are unsure because a stranger is giving them food) before looking at the sandwiches I watched quite amused as they switched. I also noticed that she sweat dropped, I silently chuckle

She then looked down at the kid I saw in the store the other day and she says "Good Job Shippo" it was silent for a few moments before she says "so, where are your parents anyways?" Now I couldn't resist I walk out into view and I answer her saying in deep baritone voice "A lot of them are on their own now" she turned and gape at me I smirk then I say

"You like kids I see" I was quite surprised with what she resort back with "well, the skinny ones can be a little chewy" I once again I couldn't help it but I chuckle She blush a beautiful shade of red and then says "I'm Sapphire…the homeless girl you helped the other day…" I nod, and I looked her over and concern and a bit of possessiveness flash in my eyes but before she could ask it disappeared as fast as it appeared, it was silent for a few moment before she says blushing even more then before

"Ohm…um…sorry about that…I-"but before she could finish I interrupts her, I give a soft laugh and say "your probably right...but don't be sorry" I watched as curiosity replaced the sudden shock and she asks "why did you help me? I smirk and say in complete honestly "what else could I do? Leave you behind with him present with ill intentions towards you" I made sure to emphasis the word 'him' that human disgusts me, and if I ever see him again I am going to behead him that I swear I think.

she gaped at me (again) and then says stubbornly "as much as I appreciate you saving me, but I have you know I can defend myself..." she looked down my first thought was "is she ok? Wait what? When did I? But before I could finish her voice interrupts me and say her voice became softer "living on the streets is proof" I frown at that, then she look up at me with determination I blink (surprised again) and say "you don't survive if-'I cut her off finishing for her "you're not strong enough" "well…yea" she says.

-Sapphire's POV-

I look at Sesshomaru with a whole new light, ok….I admit it…at first I thought he was a stuck up rich person with a stick shoved so far up his ass that it would never come out, but now? I don't think that, no now I think he is actually shorta sweet and charming in his own twisted kind of way, not only that but if he really was a stuck up rich person,

He would have never took the time to talk wait…that's not right, what I mean is he would of never of saved me that day. Which I will confess it was or still is 1 of my favorite days, My other Favorite days was when I officially adopted Shippo as my son, then having Sango and Miroku move in with me, yep defiantly my favorite days.

I watch him for a few moments then I suddenly a thought appeared, "oh shit" I think gathering everything I look at Shippo who had a confused expression and I say "we gotta go, there waiting" then I mutter "stupid distractions, can't believe I did almost forgot" I look at the kittens and say "if you ever need help go to a place called 'Kuna' there is a nice older women there, she will help you, ok?" they both nod, turning to towards Sesshomaru I say while picking up the bags "I um…gotta go, I have other children I have to feed, and take care of, it…was nice talking to you"

I watch as he blinks but nods, I look down and say "ready?" he nods and with that we start to leave but before I do, I drop the bags taking a few more items out I walk over setting them on the table and say "that was lunch, here is some for dinner, then I take more out and say and Breakfast, I can't just leave you without any food for the morning, it would be rude of me" with that I pick up the rest

And start walking away with Shippo I slightly turn and give an some-what wave considering the fact that I have several bags in my hands and kept walking, once around the corner and a few good blocks away, I plaster myself against the wall, I look down at Shippo and say "that was wayyyyyyyyy too close" Shippo nods in agreement and I say "let's go home"

With that we hurried home, for more than one reason.
