Peeta's POV

As soon as Gale punched her, I yelled at him while beating the crap out of him. How he could ever hit a woman is beyond me, but to hit someone like Katniss is too much. She's so beautiful, caring, selfless, giving, and so much more that words can't describe her. She makes my heart skip a beat just by walking into a room. But this is not about my feelings for Katniss, this is about Gale and all the bad things he has done. Once Gale is slumped on the floor, I kneel and take Katniss into my arms and whisper to her. She is losing tons of blood and I can't help but think about the worst. We need to get her to a hospital, quick.

Hours later...

We got Katniss to the hospital about 3 hours ago. The doctors took her and she was rushed to the emergency room. Later they moved her to a room in the ICU, they said she was in a very critical condition. She had lost lots of blood and according to the doctor, she was hanging onto her life by a thread when we brought her in. I felt numb, I cried for her of course, but other than that I just felt numb. The doctors said some medical stuff that I didn't understand much of and my expression must have said it because he repeated it differently, "Ms. Everdeen has lost lots of blood leaving her in a very critical condition. The impact of the ground on her skull and the hit Mr. Hawthorne- er, gave to her was very hard to her skull. Human skulls can be very fragile at times and we can tell she may have a concussion, but we won't know anything for certain until she wakes; if she wakes. For example she may run the risk of having memory loss or anything else of the matter. Any questions?" He asks our group.

"Can she have visitors?"

"Yes, I suppose she can, but if anything happens you are to call a doctor or nurse." He gives us her room number and we race to it. I see her laying in bed and almost breakdown but I know I can't.

Katniss POV

After I passed out, it felt as though I was watching myself from above I saw them take me to a hospital and I saw everything that was happening to me from above. I saw Peeta cry which made me hate myself. But as soon as they made me more stable I returned to my body so I was no longer aware of what was happening outside. I may not know much now, but as soon as I wake up, Gale's gonna pay.

Peeta's POV

We all went into Katniss's room and seeing her lying there so fragile and broken made me so mad. How could anyone ever hurt a person like Katniss. I sat next to her and held her hand in mine. A few hours later I woke up and saw that Katniss's heart monitor had stopped beeping and now it was just one sound. The monitor showed a straight line instead of the usual lines. No, this can't be happening. Finally some sense has come into me and I call for help. A group of the staff comes in and they try to bring her back but it's useless, she's gone.

"Call the time" A doctor says.

"3:15 AM." A nurse says.

I back away from the room and slide down a wall. She's gone. NO, she can't be. She can't be gone she can't leave. Just then, I jolt out of my sleep by a nurse touching my shoulder.

"Sir, are you okay?" She asks.

"Yes, thank you"

I cannot describe the terror and fear I felt and at the moment I realized I loved her. Gale hurt the woman I love. Gale is gonna pay.

Katniss's POV

I hear quiet voices talking. But just as quickly as I heard them, they fade until I can no longer hear anything but my heart monitor. Something inside me clicks and I know it's my time to wake up.

I slowly open my eyes and turn my head to avoid the harsh lights in my room. But thinking back,I wish I had never turned my head.
