So yeah, hi guys. IT'S ARENA TIME! Obviously if you're reading non-modern AU Hunger Games Fanfictions then that's what you're here for. Either that or Peniss (worst couple name for the worst couple) in which case, please take the exit to the left (back page), right (close) or center (back to the Hunger Games Archive). Like seriously, you shouldn't be reading any of Marcus and/or I's HG fanfics even if you're just a Peeta fan I would honestly recommend not reading this chapter. If you're not here as a Peniss or Peeta in general read and I hope you enjoy.

Kawino woke up the next morning with a sigh. Despite being as prepared as possible really. He was nervous to head into the arena. 'Guess that's the point of the Hunger Games. It's a no win situation.' He thought looking over at Ria.

"It's almost time?" She asked sadly.

"Unfortunately,"

"Can we...can you just hold me for a while?"

"We have some time." He said pulling her close.

"Yes we do." She said before kissing him. He smiled and deepened the kiss. She responded in kind deepening the kiss until she was lying on top of him.

She was stopped by the door flying open without warning. "Oh! Hello..." Enobaria said awkwardly.

"We weren't doing that." Ria said awkwardly getting off of him and greatly confusing Kawino on what she meant.

"Doing what?" He asked.

"Never mind, Kawino." She said beat red.

"I want to know though." He said.

"Do you know what sex is?"

"No."

"We don't have time to explain that."

"Now I am just confused."

"It's just, very complicated."

"I still feel I should know." He said getting up.

"Someone could explain it to you when you win." Ria said getting out as well.

"What if you win?"

"Then you'll have nothing to worry about." She said but still felt she had no chance of it.

"I still say I deserve to know." He said as they were lead to the roof.

"It's just a very intimate thing couples do. You're not supposed do it until you're married but lots of people do before that anyways."

"Oh so we shouldn't?" He asked.

"No we shouldn't. Mostly because it's also how babies are made."

"Babies are fun though." Kawino said.

"Yes but they're also too big of a responsibility if you're too young."

"I suppose." He said still clearly confused as he took her hand.

"Besides, in our case we're literally just heading into the arena."

"Still anything with you I usually enjoy." Kawino said.

"Just, no okay."

"Okay, sorry I offended."

"It's okay."

"No, I made you mad." Kawino said.

"I'm not mad, Kawino."

"Are you sure?" He asked.

She nodded, "I'm sure."

"Okay." He said kissing her cheek before turning to Enobaria. "Final advice?" He asked.

"Stick with your plan to avoid the other careers." Enobaria answered. "Not just not ally with them but at that point basically play it like most of the other districts. Get what you can from the Cornucopia, get Katniss, and get out of there as soon as possible and try and not let them find you."

"Got it." He said nodding.

"What about me?" Ria asked.

"Stay with the Career pack unless you need to leave it. If that is the case stay with Kawino and Katniss and slip away quietly. Stick to the shadows since you are better suited for sneak attacks."

"Alright," Ria nodded as they arrived on the roof.

"Good luck."

"Thank you," They both said. She nodded as they boarded. They were injected with their trackers and then seated.

They watched as the other tributes arrived as well. Kawino looked over at Katniss from across the craft. She saw him and nodded.

He smiled slightly still surprised he agreed. Then he saw Peeta glaring at him. Kawino rolled his eyes and tried to ignore him for now. He'll get him in the arena.

Soon the windows went dark and they knew that they were close.

He took a deep breath extremely nervous.

Ria clutched his hand tightly. "May the odds be ever in your favor." She whispered to him.

"And in yours." He said as they stopped. She just gulped as everyone disembarked. Now, just as promised, it's games as usual. He hugged her one more time. She returned the hug sadly before they were forced to separate.

Kawino was surprised to see Annia there waiting for him. "Annia, what are you doing here?" Kawino said on arrival.

"All the stylists get to come and help their tributes get ready." She said.

"Oh, I guess that makes sense." Kawino shrugged.

"How are you feeling?" She asked leading him to the clothes.

"Extremely nervous," He admitted with a sigh following her.

She stopped beside the clothes which were the same as in cannon. "I can't say I blame you."

"So, what do I do?" He asked as he got dressed.

"You win." She said handing him the boots

"Then Katniss and Ria have to die." He said putting them on.

"I am not sure what can be done about that." She said.

Kawino sighed and said, "I don't know what to do. I promised Enobaria and a girl from back home, Cady I would try to win but I can't."

"You have to try though." She said.

Kawino sighed and said, "Alright, I will."

"Thank you." She said as he slid the shirt and jacket on. She hugged him.

"It will be okay." She said sounding like she was trying to convince herself as well.

"Even I can tell you don't seem very sure."

"After what you just said I think those two might be the only ones who can stop you."

"This is just a no win situation."

"Maybe." She sighed.

"How could it not be?"

"I am not sure."

Kawino sighed looking over at his tube. "That's what I was afraid of."

"All tributes to their tubes," A voice said and Annia hugged him a little tighter before letting him go.

"Just try." She said before he went in. He nodded and entered watching her as the platform rose.

After a while in darkness he came into the same arena as canon. He looked at the forest then tried to see Ria and Katniss. He spotted them both and also spotted the one bow and arrows noticing that it was a lot closer to him than her. He also noticed that she was eyeing it confirming his suspicions on her being an archer.

'So bow arrows, packs and a mace.' He thought as the countdown started.

He located the items on the spread and worked out a plan for once the gong goes off.

"5...

4...

3..."

Kawino listened as the clock counted down all his senses coming up on point like a tiger readying to pounce which in the arena he was.

"... 2

... 1"

Bong!

Kawino as well as the other tributes sprinted off their platform for the supplies and the aptly named bloodbath had pretty much instantly begun.

Kawino set out and stopped briefly driving his fingers into the boy from 9's throat and knowing it collapsed he then kept running to the supplies.

He made sure to grab the bow and arrows first know knowing they were the most critical in both ways.

However just as he got there so did Peeta. Kawino punched him square in the jaw and kicked him in the gut but didn't kill him. Though he needed to protect Ria's family he wanted to actually enjoy it with Peeta. Plus there is why Enobaria lost to think about. Can't do it too quickly.

He grabbed the arrows and slung them over his shoulder along with two choice packs. He then picked up a large flanged mace. He searched the chaos trying to find Katniss but the girl from 3 had gone after him so he swung the mace at her head. She managed to duck and he kicked her in the face.

Being Kawino that kick was more than enough to knock her down breaking her nose and he swung the mace at her chest this time. It broke four of her ribs and she coughed up blood.

Seeing that seemed to stick something with Kawino though you couldn't even tell just looking at him. He knew at this point she had two options: to die right that moment or to get up and keep fighting with: four broken ribs, a broken nose, hemoptysis, and most likely other injures and 'thanks' to his parents he's most definitely no stranger to how that really feels. He's not his parents though. He could not wish such a thing to anyone so he slammed the mace against her forehead as hard as he could killing her pretty much instantly.

He then ran towards Katniss holding the bow and a pack out to her along with the arrows. Katniss was certainly surprised that he knew to get her the bow but knew that they had to get away from there before questioning it. So they sprinted off into the woods.

They made it pretty far before slowing down since just as in canon Katniss is a good sprinter but not in long distance. The still kept moving for the moment as Katniss nocked an arrow hoping to find any animals. "Why did you get me the bow?" She asked.

"You have the body build of an archer and kept staring at it before the gong went off. Seemed like a fair bet."

"You're pretty smart." She said.

"When it comes to the Hunger Games I am." Kawino added.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"I was never able to really learn anything else. Everything was about the Hunger Games."

"Not even reading or writing?" She asked.

Kawino shook his head. "Only numbers."

"That sounds terrible." She said sighting a squirrel. She drew back the string and shot the squirrel straight through the eye.

"Wow nice shot!" He said.

"Thanks," She said leaving it at that since though extremely unlikely with the bloodbath still on she was on camera and though she's already in the games here she could get a LOT of people back in 12 in a LOT of trouble.

"You're welcome," He said picking up the meat and handing her the arrow.

"It might be safe now to light a fire as long as were careful since the other Careers and most of the other tributes in general are preoccupied with the bloodbath."

"Good idea." So Kawino started setting up a pit for it.

"So, what was your childhood like?" She asked.

"Terrible," Kawino answered simply, "Absolutely terrible."

"That bad huh?"

"You have no idea. It's hard to find anything in District 2 that isn't terrible but for me it was worse."

"Well we have time until the blood bath ends if you want you tell me."

"My parents lead the advanced class of at the Special Academy so we literally lived there. Ever since I was three, I was never not training. All the rest of the class would head home after a while everyday but that obviously wasn't an option. The only time I ever got to go outside was for the Reapings. At the end of the day my sister Clove would have dinner and go to bed for the night but I didn't get to do either until I got what they wanted absolutely perfect which in all cases took days to achieve since I'm so useless."

"You don't seem useless to me,"

"Well, I am." Kawino sighed getting the fire going and starting to roast the squirrel.

"I do not think so."

"You barely even know me."

"So I saw you fight and you knew to get me a bow." She pointed out.

"So? I'm not perfect."

"Is anyone?"

"Clove was."

"Who?" She asked

"My sister, the one who died in last year's games."

"I'm sorry." She said.

"It's not your fault. I just wish that if she was going to give up anyway than she wouldn't have been so brutal before that."

"That would get you killed though."

"Exactly, instead of just leaving me alone with our crazy parents like that."

"I'm sorry."

"Again, not your fault."

"Well, you seemed okay back in the Capital."

"Acting, one of the most important parts of being a Career."

"Well, I am sorry for that."

"Just stop apologizing, okay?" Kawino requested giving her the now cooked squirrel and putting out the fire.

"Okay, are you going to eat?" She asked.

"I'm fine. You can have it."

"You have to eat too." She said.

"I'm not hungry."

"Fine but you will be later." She warned taking a bit.

"I'm use to going without food. I had more than enough back in the Capitol to last a few weeks."

"That's unsafe." She said worried.

Kawino shrugged and said, "Well, a week at least."

"Still you should try to eat before that."

He sighed and said, "I'll try later."

"Thank you." She said.

"You can have that for now though. Besides, it's your kill."

"Fine but we are not done." She warned looking to the packs on his back

Kawino caught on but said, "We should move on farther before looking. Someone might have still seen the smoke."

She nodded. "Lead the way then." She said.

He made sure they had everything and headed farther into the forest. "We need water." She said.

"I know but I haven't seen any since the lake."

"The lake has to get water somewhere."

"Then we keep looking."

"That is all we can do."

"That squirrel needed water." Katniss noted.

"To the west then?"

Katniss nodded, "That would be the best guess."

"Alright then," he said leading the way.

They kept walking and came across the stream just as eleven cannons started to sound. "Eleven down already?" She asked.

"It was the initial bloodbath. You know how those always go." Kawino sighed.

"Yes but eleven?" She asked.

"I know. It's a lot. I unfortunately killed two of them."

"I killed none." She pointed out.

"Good for you." Kawino told her.

"Why is that good?"

"The games are harder emotionally the more you kill yourself, for you guys anyways. Plus, when it comes down to it every tribute a background district tribute kills can very easily seal the fate of a family back in a Career district."

"Oh, okay."

"You're lucky you grew up in 12."

"I guess so." She said.

Kawino nodded and said, "In 2 and I'd assume 1 and 4 if you get too tired in training then the rest of the students use you as target practice or you have to fight the trainers."

"Why?"

Kawino shrugged and said, "Because you have to train."

"You know you seem scared of going home."

"Scares me a lot more than anything in the arena." Kawino admitted. "I have to try though. I promised my stylist. I promised my mentor who for years has basically been a mother to me. Most of all, I promised a six-year-old girl back home who thinks of me as a big brother having lost her real one to suicide last year."

"So you do have family worth fighting for."

"Well, I guess so."

"Then we are in the same boat. I am fighting for my little sister and my mother and my best friend."

"What about your dad?" Kawino asked confused obviously not knowing.

"My dad died years ago." She said sadly.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked."

"It's alright."

"It is?"

"Yes, I asked about your life after all."

"Well… I guess." He said awkwardly.

"It means we are even." Kawino wasn't sure what to say and just started looking through his bag. There were: Matches, a large water container, iodine, a sleeping bag, some dried fruits and a large utility chest harness made from black leather and complete with one large knife. He filled up the bottle from the river and purified it but kept staring at the knife the whole time.

"Are you okay?" She asked looking at the knife.

"Yeah, I'm fine." He said as more of a mutter.

"You seem stunned."

"Not really," He said awkwardly.

"It's just a knife." She said.

"It's hard to explain."

"We have time later then." She said.

"What do you have?" He asked abruptly changing the subject.

She looked into the bag, "Crackers, dried fruit, water, first aid kit, wire, rope, and walkie talkies."

"Good, so we have plenty of supplies."

"Yeah, good grabs."

"Especially the walkie talkies."

"Definitely, I wonder how far they reach." Katniss wondered.

"Who knows?"

"We could test it." She said handing him one.

"Okay. How?"

"Go in opposite directions until they stop working."

"Risky move."

"I guess. Just hold onto that then."

"I will." He said.

"Alright, let's move down farther than."

"Lead on." He said.

"We should walk in the river. Then there are no tracks."

"Okay then, we need a place to sleep."

"Can you climb?" Katniss asked looking at the trees.

"Yeah, I can climb."

"Then the trees are probably our best bet."

"Probably yeah."

"Unless you have a better idea."

"Not unless there are tunnels." He said.

"That's a very large if."

"I did not say if I said unless and we are running out of look time."

"Let's just stick to trees. There's more than enough." She headed off looking for a good one with Kawino following shortly behind.

"How about this one then?"

"Okay."

"Do we sleep in the same one?" He asked.

"Either that or adjacent."

"You choose." He said.

"Same would be safest."

"Okay."

"How about this one then?"

"That should be good enough."

"Alright then." Katniss said and started climbed.

Kawino followed up as close as he could without getting into her personal space. Being starved his whole life he had no problem getting that high though. He handed the sleeping bag up to Katniss only having one. "It'll keep you warm."

"You got it." She said to him.

"I'll be fine."

"So will I."

"Just take it."

"Why not you just take it?"

"I do not need it."

"It will get cold soon."

"Then take it!"

"I'll be fine without it."

"I will be fine without it, Katniss."

"Fine," She said taking the bag. "At least take my jacket." She said.

He sighed but gave in and took it. "Thank you." She said.

He muttered something unintelligible and put the jacket on.

"Stubborn." She sighed.

"So are you." He countered.

"I know." She said.

He shrugged so she just got in the bag and tied herself to the branch right before the death toll came up.

Kawino stared as the girl he killed appeared first.

They were both certainly surprised when the boy from 4 came up next. "Wonder who got him?" Kawino muttered.

"Yeah, that's quite unusual. His family's pretty much doomed now aren't they?" Katniss asked as they showed the boy from 5, both from 6, both from 7, the boy from 8, both from 9, and the girl from 10.

"Yeah, maybe. Might have already happened depending on when exactly he died and if not later tonight. It's always done in a mandatory public execution which is always set up exactly the same either way up until whether or not they pull the trigger."

"That's unfortunate."

"But yeah, his family's odds are pretty much close to zero." He sighed thinking about that. 'Hopefully my reveal was enough.' He thought with a sigh. The toll ended and it was dark again. "It must have been enough." He breathed starting off into the darkness.

"Goodnight." She said.

"Goodnight," he told her. He did not sleep though. He just sat there in the tree wide awake all night.

Hours later though a fire was light to his right. He looked over towards it finding the girl from 8. 'Idiot,' He thought knowingly.

Sure enough he heard the rustling and waited. They were coming. He turned towards the noise waiting for the other Careers. It was odd because usually we were told to be quiet.

Once they got to view the noise made sense but the cause made even less sense in and of itself. The boy from 12 was with them the girl from 8 screamed as they closed in on her.

They had went to leave but there was no cannon.

There were several sounds of a struggle. The Pack was long gone so Kawino climbed down to her. He felt her pulse it was still there.

He pulled out the first aid kit and looked over what damage they had done. She had several stab wounds and a few bruises so he went into the kit to see if they have anything that could help there were bandages and blood replenishes. 'Perfect,' He thought and set to work.

A few moments later she drew in a large breath. Her eyes opened and she looked up at Kawino with a mixture surprise, confusion, and kind of more generalized fear. "Are you okay?" She hesitated but nodded slowly. "Good." He said giving her a sip of water.

She took the bottle but didn't take a drink, "Why are you helping me?"

"Your innocent and you were cold a desperate that is no reason for you to die." He said.

"Well, thank you."

"No problem just be careful I may not be around to save you again."

"I will try to. That was rather stupid of me anyways." She said sitting up with a hand over one of the bandages and certainly surprised him with a kiss on the cheek.

"What was that for?" He asked.

"For saving my life."

"Oh, well no problem." He said.

"Well, it's a big deal." She said managing to get to her feet and walk away.

"Be careful I might not be able to save it again."

"I'll be more careful this time."

"Okay." He said as she vanished. Still very confused by that he headed back up to the tree. He sat and waited for the sun to rise.

Soon he heard Katniss waking up. "About time." He said smiling a little.

She looked at the sky then at him and asked, "Did you get any sleep last night?"

"I did not need any," Kawino said honestly.

"Yes you do. You need your energy."

"I still have my energy." She looked at him skeptically at that. "Really I'm fine." He said.

"You're obviously not." Katniss said getting out of the sleeping bag and packing it up.

"Yes I am."

"You need to get at least some sleep every night. Especially in a place like this."

"I am used to being without sleep."

"For how long usually?"

"Days, occasionally weeks."

"That's not okay, Kawino."

"Why not? I'm fine."

"No, your body was just tricked into thinking it is."

"What?" He asked giving her the jacket back.

"Your body needs sleep. It was just forced to get used to not having it."

"So, I am fine."

"No, it's not healthy."

"Well, sorry."

"Just please sleep. At least a little."

"Now?"

"Now, I'll wake you if there's trouble."

"Fine." He sighed. He laid against the trunk from his branch and did try to get some sleep.

He slipped into a nightmare about Clove however.

He saw Clove in her village based arena with Glam. It was down to him and her she swung her knife at him. He managed to dodge the knife though taking a cut to the arm and swung the barbed wire wrapped steel baseball bat at her chest.

It hit her hard in the chest. She toppled over coughing up blood but dropped her knives not even trying to fight back. "Fight!" He shouted.

"What's the point?" She grumbled spitting out more blood.

"You want to go home?" He asked.

"Not really."

"Why not?" Clove never did answer and just coughed up more blood. Glam just rolled his eyes, "Fine, if you don't want to win than I can take off that burden for you." He smashed his bat over her head. She was knocked to the ground still breathing but just barely and he kept beating her with the bat until the cannon went off.

At which point Kawino shot awake finding himself on the forest floor. He was shaking. "Kawino, are you okay?" Katniss asked worriedly since he just fell out of a tree.

"Yeah just...nightmares."

Katniss frowned and looked up into the tree then back at him, "You just fell out of a tree. Are you hurt?"

"No, just a bruise."

She helped him up and went to take a look at the damage. There was a large bruise on his shoulder but she almost fainted though when she saw all of him older bruises, wounds, and scars from his parents. Being Katniss she immediately put his shirt back down. "What?" He asked.

"What happened to you?" She asked trying not to throw up.

"My parents happened."

"That's terrible." She said horrified.

"That was life."

"Well, it's not right. Parents are supposed to love their children though I think the simple act of just having them in the first place is cruel enough."

"What do you mean?"

"To force an innocent child into this world is already bad but to on top of that practically torture them like that."

"Having kids is good." Kawino disagreed.

"Well, I never want to even if I do get out of this."

"I disagree."

"Well, good for you. I'm sure you'll be a great father if you do." Katniss said even though statistics say he wouldn't.

"I am not sure but babies are amazing they give hope."

"I just don't want to see them wind up here."

"I can respect that."

"But you still want them?"

"I would like to if I make it out of this."

"Well, then I guess that's your decision."

"Yeah, but no one would want to with me so it does not matter." He said based from what Ria HAD said.

"You don't know that."

"No, I do know that, but it's fine."

"I'm sure you'll find someone."

"I doubt that."

"Why's that?"

"I am not worth it to anyone."

"I don't believe that for one second."

"I do." He said.

"And who told you that?"

"My parents."

"Why would they say that?"

"Because it's true."

"I don't think so."

"I'm not perfect though."

"Why does that matter?"

"Because no one could ever love me unless I'm absolutely perfect and unbeatable."

"Is that what they told you?" Kawino just nodded. "It's a lie."

"How do you know?" He asked.

"They sound like liars."

"You never even met them."

"So?"

"So you can't know that."

"No one is perfect."

"They are."

"No they are not."

"You never met them." He repeated.

"They were bad parents clearly and that means they were not and are not perfect."

"They were good parents to Clove."

"Not to you though."

"What's that have to do with being perfect?"

"A perfect person would be a good parent to both their children not play favorites."

"Does it really matter?"

"Yes it proves they are not perfect."

"That's just a decision though. They clearly know how to."

"No, they took it to one extreme or the other."

"They could have though." He countered.

"Stop arguing they are not perfect!" Kawino instinctively stepped back from being yelled at expecting her to strike him. "Sorry, I did not mean to yell."

"It's okay then?" He asked confused and still nervous.

"Yeah, it's okay." She said gently. He did seem to calm down quite a bit. "You do not need to be afraid." She said.

"Well, you should be but not of me. Not yet at least."

"Yeah...right."

"I'm not going to hurt you."

"You're not?"

"No, I promise."

"Okay." He agreed though hesitant.

"Can you trust me on that?"

"Yeah, I can."

"Good, we should move though." Katniss said looking around.

"Yeah, I suppose we should."

"Pretty big theme for non-Careers. Just keep moving and hope they don't find you and the Gamemakers don't decide the games are getting too boring."

"Well, I am going hunting." Kawino said.

"Alright," Katniss sighed turning to him. "Who though?"

"Who's left?" He asked.

"Us, both from 1, Ria, the boy from 3, the girl from 4, that fox-faced girl from 5, the girl from 8, the boy from 10, Rue, Thresh, and Peeta."

"The boy from 3. That is who I will hunt you find food and shelter then we meet back up?"

Katniss sighed but nodded and said, "Check up on walkie talkies occasionally. That way we'll know the other's okay. We'll meet back here."

"Deal." He said nodding. They both headed in opposite directions.

Kawino slipped quietly through the bushes and tree's keeping his eyes and ears open. Then he spotted not Adra but separate from the pack and anyone really, was Peeta. Kawino came out into view with his mace ready but not poised. He waited for Peeta to see him.

Peeta did though and frowned. "Oh, it's you."

"Yeah, it's me." Kawino said lowly."

"What do you want, 2?" Peeta asked harshly with his knife ready.

"I want a lot of things, but the foremost of which at the moment is your death. You claim I am lair and I do not appreciate that."

"I only said that because you are one."

"Really? You're so sure about that? I have news for you, you self-adsorbed ass hole I have been through terrible things than you can possibly imagine and I saw a chance to change some things for the better. Why would I lie, unlike you I do not seek attention."

"Oh please you are just trying to manipulate the Capital."

"What would I even do that? The only thing that would achieve is getting myself shot."

"You need them for sponsors so you made up the perfect sob story."

Kawino snorted and said, "If I was looking for sympathy points there are much worse and also true one's I could have told."

"Oh please, you grew up in 2; you all do not know what suffering is." Peeta said.

As a response, Kawino took off his jacket and shirt and said simple as possible, "Those aren't from the arena." Peeta stepped away from him stunned. "Yeah, so don't even try to tell me I don't know what suffering is."

"What the?"

"My parents," Kawino said bitterly.

"Th...They but why?"

"I'm not sure but that's even after both the doctor on the train and prep team did everything they could and it didn't just stop there. That training that you hate us so much for, try it for 168 hours straight before finally getting a little bit of bread, water, and sleep before being woken up by an arrow in the shoulder and getting straight back to it. So, I think YOU do not know what true suffering is." Kawino said stepping toward him.

"I-I h-had no i-idea." Peeta stuttered stepping back.

"No you didn't. You say I do not know suffering. Let me teach you suffering." Kawino said hitting Peeta's knee with the mace. Peeta off course fell backwards calling out in pain. "Get up you worthless piece of shit." Kawino demanded as his parents would if that were him. "Come on I took harder mace shots than that at age 10." Kawino shouted kicking him in the ribs.

Peeta struggled to get to his feet trying and failing to seem tough.

"I said get up!" Kawino said dragging Peeta to his feet just as Kawino's mother had done to him.

Peeta grunted as weight hit the knee that Kawino had hit. Kawino smirked and slammed him back first into a tree. "Please stop." Peeta just barely managed to get out.

"Why should I?" Kawino asked letting Peeta slid to the ground at his feet. "No one ever came to save me why should you be spared?"

"Now get up before I show you what happens otherwise." Kawino demanded but his voice seemed to crack. "No one came to save me." He muttered again. He lowered the mace to his side and muttered, "For as long as I could possibly remember I had to suffer through it with no hopes of ever getting free and no one came to save me."

"What did I do to the world to deserve that?" He asked slamming the mace into the ground. "I never did anything but you could never stop it. Only make it worse if you mess up. It's not fair!" He said slamming the mace hard into the tree.

Despite all the pain, Peeta just watched having no idea what to do.

Kawino did not know what to do he felt like crying. He tried to keep strong just as he would around his parents and looked at Peeta and it seemed to snap into place. The last thing he wanted was to be like his parents but that's exactly what he was doing. "My god...I am just like them. I'm sorry I made you suffer." He muttered lowly turning to Peeta.

Peeta didn't say anything and just looked up at him in surprise. "I really am. You still have to die though."

"I know." Peeta grunted obviously still in a lot of pain.

"Final words?"

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have just assumed."

"No you should not have, but I forgive you." Kawino said raising the mace and bringing it crashing down on Peeta's skull which split in half sending blood and brains in all directions but Kawino knew Peeta had not felt that blows pain. A cannon obviously went off for Peeta's death. Kawino sighed wondering what to do now.

So Peeta's dead now and very brutally (before that at least). I told you Peeta fans don't want to read this. At least I warned them. So, review and you are as always welcome to flame.
