After so long without uploading any thing at all, and even longer since I posted a Jac drabble, I'm back with this short (albeit a bit longer than what drabbles are supposed to be) drabble. Hope you all like it!

Stand by Your Side – Celine Dion (Set in 8x9)

Mac's phone buzzed in his pocket, not bothering in looking at the caller ID he simply answered.

"Taylor"

"Detective Taylor, I'm Officer Lee, I called to inform you that your partner, Detective Danville had been attacked…"

Before Officer Lee could continue Mac cut him off

"What? Where?"

The Officer told him the address; he wrote it down and hung up the phone without one more single word.

He stormed out of his office and practically flew to the elevator.

As he made his way towards where Jo was, he exceeded all the speed limits allowed. Finally getting to the building she was, he identified himself and asked which apartment she was. Reaching the apartment he soon saw her sitting on the floor and walked in her direction.

Looking at her closely he saw her bruised face and it was like someone had stabbed him. He never wanted her to be near of getting hurt; still he couldn't prevent it from happening. He sat beside her.

"Oh my God, Jo"

He said and enveloped her in a tight embrace.

"I'm fine. I'm fine"

She said trying to reassure more herself than him.

As she stayed in his arms, he was even surer that he loved her and that he wouldn't know what to do if he had lost her today.

"You scared me"

He said to her as she stayed in his embrace.

"Sorry"

She apologized and he could tell that she was scared too.

"C'mon, the paramedics need to check on you"

As they made their way downstairs Mac put an arm around her waist in an attempt of giving her some balance, which she was very grateful for.

Reaching the back of the ambulance, a paramedic rushed over Jo to check on her.

"Mac, can you please check on the vic, Amanda?"

Jo asked him as the paramedic began to check on her.

"Sure."

He said and made his way towards the patrol car where the vic was sit.

Once Mac had checked on Amanda, he made his way back to where Jo was.

Grabbing a blanket and handing it to her, he sat beside her in the back of the ambulance.

As he sat there with her million thoughts ran through his head, but there was one that wouldn't leave his mind "I love you, Jo".

After being thoroughly checked and almost arguing with one of the paramedics that she did not need to go to a hospital, Jo turned to Mac and asked in a whisper "Take me home, please". And he did as asked.

Once they were inside the apartment and knowing Ellie would be at school until at least another hour, Mac offered himself to make her company, when she outright refused it he simply moved forward, invading her personal space, and moved her chin up with his fingers so he could look into her eyes, as he pleaded "Let me take care of you, Jo, please."

All the love and concern she saw in his eyes were enough to break all her defenses and closing the remaining distance she threw herself in his arms and in no time she felt him embrace her. The silent tears that fell from her eyes at the overwhelming feeling of understanding they were on the same page about each other made it difficult for her to say anything other than a strangled "Okay".

As she remained in his embrace, he finally acknowledged that there were things that sinply couldn't be left unsaid, and having Jo inside his arms allowing him to see her so vulnerable he gathered up his courage. He kissed her forehead and whispered "I love you Jo Danville".

It was barely audible but the response came right away.

"I love you, too, Mac Taylor"
