Chapter 4
A/N: So this chapter has a lot of flashbacks. I kind of wanted to show more of why Quinn and Kurt didn't get along. No beta. Sorry for errors. Enjoy.
Flashback 10 years ago
Santana and Sebastian had hated each other when they had first met. Sebastian was with the Warbler's, so there was a natural inevitable rivalry between the two.
After going head to head in a sing-off with Michael Jackson, "Smooth Criminal", they gain a lot of respect for each other. They also found out they had many similarities. Their dads were both doctor and they connected over the pressure they felt of following in their footsteps.
When Santana and Sebastian began spending more time together, in default, Quinn was also getting to know their once enemy also. And the three of them became close. Surprising themselves and everyone else.
Santana was going to follow in her dad's line of work but she didn't want to be in a hospital setting with hospital hours, so she decided to instead study cosmetic surgery. She had managed to convince Quinn and Sebastian to start a plastic surgery practice together when they graduated college.
So when the time came to apply for colleges, the three of them met at the Lima Bean to make sure they could all attend the same college and decide on what would be the best choice for them.
"Ok, I think I need a break." Sebastian told the girls suddenly as he eyed a cute brunette with over gel hair walking in the coffee place.
"You can have one once we figure this out." Santana said filling out another college application. "The chances of all of us getting into the same college is slim, especially when our parents are expected us to get into an Ivy League school."
"Just give me 10 minutes." Sebastian said not taking his eyes away from boy.
"Or 20." He added while checking the boy out from head to toe.
Quinn and Santana raised their eyebrows at the familiar tone in the warbler's voice.
Santana shook her head in disgust and Quinn followed the boy's eye sight out of curiosity to see who he was targeting.
Her eyes widen in shock.
"No." Quinn told him recognizing who Sebastian was staring at.
The forbidding tone in the blonde's voice peaked Santana's curiosity causing her to sit up straighter in her chair and immediately searched the coffee place to see who the Warbler's potential conquest was this time.
Both girls were use to Sebastian sexual ventures, he was like a gay Puck maybe worse, and they were not at all fazed by it. Quinn usually didn't care about the warbler's way, so it had shocked Santana to hear her best friend intervene.
"Oh my god." Santana laughed at loud when she also recognize who got Sebastian all hot and bothered.
Despite the New Direction and the Warbler's rivalry, Sebastian has not really pay attention to all the members of the New Direction. He quickly stopped the attacks and bashing of the Glee club after he and Santana formed a friendship.
"What is it? Do you guys know him?" Sebastian asked confused by her reaction.
"Come on Q, this would be hilarious." Santana said still laughing.
"No, it wouldn't S." Quinn glared.
Quinn wouldn't have care if Blaine didn't happen to be her girlfriend's best friend's boyfriend.
Kurt and Quinn had never really like each other, mostly because Quinn hates the way Kurt makes Rachel feel selfish about her dreams and seems to be only using Rachel to steal her spotlight that she deserves and Kurt had never really gotten over the fact that the three Cheerios use to torment everyone. Which Quinn finds it weird that he forgave Karofsky who tormented him the most. But she figured the two boys kind of found themselves in a very familiar situation as her and Rachel.
Except Kurt didn't return Karofsky feelings.
Whatever it was between Kurt and Quinn, it seemed like it would never be resolved despite Rachel's many many attempts.
Some people just don't get along.
But this would give Kurt ammunition to use against her. If Sebastian sleeps with Blaine, it would somehow be her fault in Kurt's eye. Then it would definitely give Kurt more reason to convince Rachel that she had not change her ways from the bully she use to be. And there's no way Quinn was going to allow the best thing that has happen to her to be taken away.
Santana and Quinn were already getting heat when they started hanging out with the Warbler, causing a lot of confusion and suspicion in the Glee club.
"He's off limit, Sebastian." Quinn enforced.
"Why do you have to say that?" Sebastian whined at her choice of words. "Now I have to sleep with him."
"What are you a child? Have some self-control. You can literally have any guy in this room, just not him." Quinn said.
"Make her stop Santana." Sebastian pleaded.
The more he was told he couldn't have something the more he wanted it.
"Come on, Quinn. Let pretty boy here have his fun. Blaine would be thanking you in the long run. Kurt has been mad mouthing you to Rachel ever since you two started dating. He has been meddling in your relationship, why can't you have Sebastian meddle in his? It's not like you're the one actually doing anything." Santana argued.
"It doesn't matter, he will still find a way to make it my fault. Like I personally maliciously set this up." Quinn stated not budging.
Sebastian sat back and took all this information in. He agreed with Santana.
"How about I have sex with Blaine just this one time and no one finds out. He's not going to tell Kurt. And you guys won't, right?" Sebastian asked looking at the two girls.
Quinn sighed. She couldn't really stop Sebastian when he had his mind made up already. If Blaine couldn't resist him, and Quinn knows he won't, then what could she do about it?
"I can't control what you want to do, so..." Quinn shrugged and grabbed her things.
"Yes!" Sebastian said excitingly bouncing in his seat.
Santana smiled at Sebastian even though she's shocked the blonde gave in so easy.
"Whatever, I'll see you guys later." Quinn stood up and left the table.
"Awesome." Sebastian combed his fingers through his hair.
Santana reached foreword to ruffle his hair.
"Awesome." She smiled evilly.
"Damn it, Santana!" Sebastian cursed as he fixed his now disarray hair.
Sebastian stood up after he thought he looked somewhat descent and searched for the guy that the three of been talking about.
"What is she doing?" Sebastian asked furrowing his brow in confusion as he spotted Quinn talking to Blaine. He notice the blonde had stood in front of the dark hair beauty to block him from spotting Santana and Sebastian.
Santana laughed to herself at her best friend antics. She should have known better. Of course Quinn wasn't going to make it easy. She was a Fabray after all.
"Doing what Quinn does best. You'll going to have a harder time now that Quinn's involved. If she doesn't want you to sleep with Blaine, she's going make sure you don't. Trust me I've been head to head with Quinn before. Just give it up now. You don't want to mess with her." Santana advised.
Quinn was laughing as she chatted with Blaine as she caught Sebastian's eye and smirked.
If Sebastian where to sleep with Blaine it would cause a disruption in the New Direction. And they had just gotten their second chance at the National title. She wasn't going to let Sebastian crushed Rachel's and the New Direction dreams they had been working hard for. And more importantly, there is no way she was going to let Sebastian ruin her relationship with Rachel.
"Game on, Fabray. Game on." Sebastian said raising his eyebrow at her accepting the challenge.
This was going to be fun.
Present
Brittany had invited Quinn to one of her dance session. She knew the blonde needed an outlet and Quinn hasn't dance in awhile. She thought this was the perfect solution. Before Quinn had always blamed her leg but Brittany knew that there was another reason Quinn didn't dance anymore.
Brittany felt bad that she had put Quinn in an awkward situation after the blow out happened. She didn't mean for it to potential end Quinn's and Chloe's relationship. She really just miss everyone hanging out with each other. When Santana left her for three months, everyone all of the sudden seemed busy.
Included herself.
She just wanted everyone to come together and hang out like they use to. She guess she was naive to think that way. She probably made things worse.
Quinn rested her back against the closest wall when she felt her legs on fire.
"I can't believe how out of shape I am." Quinn said reaching for a water bottle.
"Your not out of shape. You run everyday." Brittany said taking a seat next to the other blonde grabbing the bottle out of her hand to take a sip.
"Yeah well not enough to keep up with you." Quinn had miss dancing more then she thought.
"It was fun though, right?" Brittany asked.
"Yeah, Britt. Thanks for inviting me. Maybe I can work this in my schedule and make this a once a week thing."
"That would be awesome!" Brittany jumped excitingly.
Quinn smiled at the dancer's enthusiasm. It made her think that sometimes she didn't invest in their friendship as much as she did with her and Santana's.
When Santana and Brittany relationship grew serious, she thought she was going to be the third wheel, but it ended up as Santana and Quinn being best friends and Brittany was Santana's girlfriend.
Brittany understood that if anyone of them were in trouble they would always turn to each other, which left her out in the cold sometimes. It didn't bother her that much but she was sad to think that if something had happen with Quinn and Chloe that Quinn didn't even think to come and confide in her.
Santana was always her first choice.
"I'm sorry, Quinn." Brittany said feeling guilty about the whole thing.
"What for?" Quinn asked confused still trying to catch her breath.
"I should of told you about giving Rachel Chloe's number. I didn't even think about. I was just so excited to see Rachel and have her be in our life again." Brittany explained.
"It's okay." Quinn gave her a reassuring smile.
"No, it's not. Chloe gave you back the ring and your not happy." Brittany argued.
"Things happen for a reason Britt. I don't blame you. If anyone is to blame it's me." Quinn said.
Brittany didn't look convinced.
"Britt, look at me. Don't beat yourself up over this. It's not your fault." Quinn demanded softly.
Brittany still looked sad.
"I'm sorry that I haven't been coming around lately when Santana was gone. I'm sorry to ever make you think that I don't value our friendship as much as I value my friendship with Santana. I've been a horrible friend to you."
"You and Santana are similar and can relate to another, I understand." Brittany said.
"Yeah." Quinn nodded. "But that not an excuse. There is no excuse. I need you too. I wouldn't know what I would do without you, Britt. You are one of my oldest friends, and I promise you I going to make more time for us."
"I appreciate that, Q. It was hard when Santana left and then everyone got busy, I just felt alone."
"I'm sorry." Quinn heart broke to her how her friend felt abandon.
"You know what you do better than Santana? You give the best hugs. I think we can use one right now, don't you think?" Quinn asked.
Brittany smiled and put her arms around her sweaty friend.
"I think your wrong. Santana hugs are amazing."
Quinn laughed.
"I never experience one, so I'll take your word for it."
Brittany pulled back when her phone rang.
"It's probably one of the parents of the kids I teach. We're doing a recital and the location got change so everyone's getting confused." Brittany explained. "Do you mind if I take it?"
"No, not at all." Quinn waved her off.
"I'll be right back. You can practice the routine again." Brittany said running out of the room.
"Yeah. I think i'm just going to sit here." Quinn said even though the blonde could no longer hear her.
Quinn sighed as she stood up slowly, groaning a little.
She didn't tell Brittany about her leg. But it didn't seem to give her any major problems, it was just a little sore at times. She still wanted to be careful though.
As she was getting up she hear the door opened.
"That was quick, B..."
Quinn turned around, shocked to find out that it wasn't Brittany but a gorgeous red-head that she hadn't seen for two days.
"What are you doing here?" Quinn asked confused.
"Brittany said asked me to come by. I can never say no to her." Chloe said looking uncomfortably shy.
Ironically, after trying to get in contact with Chloe for a day and half, she didn't know what to say to her.
"How have you been?" Quinn started with a simple question.
"Umm... not good." Chloe answered.
Quinn slowly nodded, now berating herself for asking such a stupid question.
Chloe stopped walking and stood about 6 feet away from her.
The two girls were awkwardly silent. They had never experience this feeling with each other.
Their relationship has always been smooth sailing. This is the only time that something has ever drifted them apart. It was like they lived in this naive bubble where reality didn't exist. And now the relationship was being put into a test.
"I've been trying to contact you." Quinn said looking at Chloe.
"I know. I'm sorry. I just needed space to think."
Quinn nodded slowly.
"I missed you." Quinn told her honestly.
"I really missed you too, Quinn." The redhead admitted.
"So...What do we do? To fix this?" Quinn gestured her hand towards both of them.
"I don't know..." Chloe answered.
Another awkward silence filled the room.
"The reason I never talked about Rachel was because there's a lot of bad memories that happen with that relationship. I don't like to live in the past." Quinn said breaking the silence.
"But if you feel like you need to know those things about me, then I'll tell you everything." Quinn continued as she slowly made her way closer to Chloe.
"But I want to warn you, that it's not pretty. I was a different person back then." Quinn stopped her movement until she stood right in front of the redhead.
Even though Quinn had experience some old feeling returning when she was at Rachel's the other day, She had to give her relationship with Chloe a chance. They had been together for 3 years without any bumps.
Is one bump going to be the demised of their relationship?
"I just don't want to be taken for a fool." Chloe admitted.
"You're not." Quinn shot down immediately shaking her head.
"It was hard seeing another side of you I have never seen before. It just got me thinking if we're married what if everything is going to change. I don't want anything to change. I liked the way we are." Chloe said.
"Then we won't get married. I'm okay with that. We can go back to just being how we were." Quinn said.
Maybe the marriage proposal was too soon.
Quinn has always dreamed about being married and having a grand wedding. An idea probably inherited from her mother. Her mother will be hugely disappointed that her youngest wouldn't be marrying anytime soon, but that didn't matter to Quinn.
She just wanted Chloe to come back home.
"Will you be honest with me about your past?" Chloe asked.
"Ask me anything." Quinn opened her arms wide as she smiled softly.
Chloe smiled for the first time.
"Can I have a hug?"
Quinn sighed in relief.
She closed the gap between them and pulled with one arm around the red head to slam their bodies together.
Quinn closed her eyes and exhaled as she basked in the familiar smell of Chloe's shampoo that she loved. She embrace the warmths of being close to Chloe again.
"Let's go home." Chloe said slightly pulling away from the embrace.
Flashback
Beginning of Senior Year
Breadstix's
"Mmm..." Rachel moaned when she felt her girlfriend's hand slid under her skirt to squeeze her ass.
Quinn had pinned Rachel behind the restroom door at Breadstix's.
The two were on a double date with Kurt and Blaine, Rachel's idea, when Quinn quickly got bored of the two boys and successfully convinced the brunette to accompany her to the restroom.
Quinn easily lifted the tiny diva in her arms, encouraging her to wrap her legs around her waist while she use the door as support.
"Wait..." Rachel said when the blonde finally released her lips and started attacking her neck.
"What?" Quinn asked as she continued to trail kisses from the brunette's throat to between her breast.
"We can't do this here. Kurt and Blaine are waiting on us." Rachel said trying to resist the blonde.
Quinn moved her head slight upwards to reclaim Rachel's lips.
"Let's ditch them." She let out before kissing her girlfriend again. She would never get tired of this.
Rachel was a great kisser.
Rachel smiled.
"But you promised you try to get along with Kurt."
Quinn groaned and let her head fall on Rachel's shoulder.
That was definitely a mood killer.
She closed her eyes and let out a small smile when she felt Rachel's hand come up and thread her fingers through her hair. It always had a calming effect on her.
The blonde reluctantly let the brunette feet touch the ground but didn't let go of her hold.
"The things I do for you."
Rachel gave Quinn a chaste kiss before moving out of her arms and walking towards the mirror to fix her appearance.
Quinn slowly turn around to admire Rachel.
She would never understand why Rachel had any insecurities about her looks. Of course she didn't help in the beginning of their high school years and Quinn would always hate herself for it. She promised herself she would always make sure Rachel knew how beautiful she is inside and out.
Rachel stop her movements when she realize her girlfriend wasn't beside her copying her actions.
Rachel has caught the blonde doing this before.
And every time it made her blush.
The blonde would have a soft smile on her face as she watch Rachel with a look of admiration.
"Please stop staring." Rachel playfully chastised.
"You are unbelievably gorgeous, Rach." Quinn said honestly that melt the brunette's heart.
Rachel slowly made her way back to the blonde.
Quinn shook her head at herself.
"I'm sorry that I ever made you feel like you weren't."
"Hey..." Rachel whispered reaching out and lifting the cheerleaders chin forcing her to meet her eyes.
"We said no more living in the past, right?"
"I don't deserve you."
"Now you're talking nonsense." Rachel said.
Rachel wrapped her arms around the blonde's neck and leaned their foreheads together.
"Listen to me." Rachel said sternly with a gentle tone.
"You are a kind and wonderful person, Quinn Fabray. I don't hold anything you done to me in the past against you. I'm just glad we finally found our way to each other. If that was the path we had to take, then I would do it a million times over if that meant that in the end we would be together. We will only grow stronger from that. I love you. I'm in love with you."
Quinn sighed happily wrapping her arms tight around the little brunette.
"I'm never letting you go." Quinn promised to Rachel and also to herself.
"Good because I'm never letting you go either." Rachel smiled warmly at the blonde when she pulled away from the embrace.
"Okay, we really need to get back to the boys. Knowing Kurt, he's probably getting restless." Rachel said as she fixed the blonde's hair that she tousled earlier.
Quinn rolled her eyes.
"Stop." Rachel playfully warned softly tapping the cheerleader's arm.
"Let's get this over with." Quinn said as she signal Rachel to lead the way back to their table.
When Quinn and Rachel return to their table, Kurt was in a sour mood. Quinn didn't know why, Blaine was with him the entire time so it wasn't like he was alone.
It didn't bother Quinn.
It bother Quinn when he decided to praise Finn to Rachel while she was sitting right there.
Quinn had initially expected Finn, himself, to try to win Rachel back, but it makes sense now that the incompetent giant had Kurt do all the dirty work for him. She guess both boys thought hopefully they make Rachel see that she was better off with him than Quinn.
"Finn was saying to the whole school that he caught the winning touchdown for you Rachel. How sweet is that?" Kurt gushed unapologetically while Blaine gave her a look that was the complete opposite, embarrassed with his boyfriend's tacky antics.
"That's nice." Rachel gave her best friend a fake smile.
Her plan to get her best friend and girlfriend to get along wasn't going how she thought it would. She knew Quinn wasn't going to hold back any longer and was shocked and proud that the blonde hadn't said anything the whole time Kurt was talking about Finn when she knew it was getting to her.
She knew Quinn was holding back her tongue.
"Baby, thank you again for calling the cook ahead of time to make the special vegan meal for me so i didn't have to eat the salad for the 100th time. It was really sweet." Rachel tried to change the subject to stop Kurt's rambling of his stepbrother and hopefully he will get the hint that she has no interest.
She leaned foreword to give the blonde a small thank you kiss, trying to erase the blonde's frown in the process.
"No problem. I knew when Kurt was suggested Breadstix's, he didn't think about how limited your options were here." The cheerleader said snidely to the boy but was all smiles to Rachel.
"You know what? That was really sweet, Quinn. Just like the time you threw a slushy in Rachel's face, right?" Kurt asked sarcastically.
"Kurt!" Both Blaine and Rachel chastised.
Rachel rubbed the blonde's arm and felt how tensed her muscle got.
Quinn gave Kurt one of her famous glared when someone came by their booth.
"Hey Quinn."
Rachel sighed thankfully for the interruption until she saw who it that was at their table.
"Am I interrupting?" Sebastian flashed his charming smile to the party of four.
"Yes!"
"No!"
Sebastian raised an amused eyebrow at the group.
"Hey Rachel." Sebastian greeted.
Rachel gave the Warbler a small smile and wave. Even though Sebastian was Quinn's friend, she hadn't spent a lot of time around him. She was wary about him initially because they are rivalry, but she trust Quinn's judgement. But she knew that Kurt didn't like him at all and confided in her that the Warbler was after Blaine.
"Hey I'm Sebastian. Quinn's told me a lot about you." Sebastian blatantly introducing himself to Blaine and ignoring Kurt completely.
"Nice to meet you." Blaine shook his hand politely.
Sebastian smiled while prolong the contact has long as he could without losing contact the dark-hair boy.
"That's enough." Kurt interrupted the staring by pulling Blaine's hand away.
"Can I join you guys? I'm starving."
"No!"
"Yes."
He shrugged his shoulder ignoring the tension at the table and took a sit next to Quinn, forcing her to bump shoulders with her girlfriend.
"Sebastian!" Quinn scolded while rubbing her girlfriend arms, apologizing for bumping into her.
"What are you doing here?" Quinn asked with a hard stare, knowing exactly why he was here.
She thought she had been doing a good job eliminating Blaine as one of Sebastian's conquests but it looks like the Warbler with relentless or just plain bored.
"Santana talks about this place all the time. I was in town so I thought I stop by." Sebastian answered with ease stealing a french fry from the blonde's plate. "I didn't think I would run into you, Quinn. But I'm glad I did." He said the last statement obviously aimed at Blaine.
"It's a 45 minute drive." Quinn said narrowing her eyes at him, looking unconvinced.
"You know how I like to take my baby out for a long drive sometimes." Sebastian said referring to his Audi that his dad just bought him.
Quinn gave him a hard stare.
"Come on Q, lighten up." Sebastian said putting his arm around her shoulder.
"And also came here to get something I've been craving for not stop for like a month." Sebastian said looking directly at Blaine.
"Sebastian... I thought we talked about this." Quinn tried to be subtle.
"I was talking about the meatballs." Sebastian said. "Geeze, Quinn what were you thinking?"
"Though I hadn't sausage in a while." He muttered in the blonde's ear so only she could hear him when he reached over her to grab some breadsticks.
"So Blaine right?" Sebastian asked.
Blaine nodded his head.
"Have you ever rode in an Audi before?" Sebastian asked ignoring Kurt murderous glare.
"Can I talk to you in private, please." Quinn hissed trying to get him out of here.
"You're not welcome here." Kurt told Sebastian. "You can take the blonde with you while you're here though."
Sebastian immediately didn't like the well-dressed boy. Quinn had become a good friend and sure his intentions here was to mess with her but he didn't realized until this moment that he didn't like anybody treat his girls like that.
Even though he knows that Santana and Quinn could take of themselves.
"You're the only one that seems to have a problem here, so you're welcome to leave." Sebastian told Kurt suggesting him to leave and then turned to the most quiet one in the group.
"Can you let him out? I don't mind sharing a booth with you." Sebastian said flirtatiously.
Quinn rolled her eyes at how obvious the Warbler was being. And without shame.
Kurt interlocked his fingers with his boyfriend who squeezed back for reassurance.
"So Sebastian, Quinn tells me that you guys are looking into the same colleges, hopefully there's some in New York." Rachel asked trying to diffuse the tension.
"Totally. Quinn's priorities is definitely New York. The others are just back up, you know, just in case. Even then they all relative close to the Big Apple. So you don't have anything to worry. Quinn's very adamant of not being far away from you." Sebastian answered having the cheerleaders back, knowing the girl was probably been sitting through a lot of trash talk.
Rachel shared a smile with Quinn. Quinn put her arm around Rachel shoulder to pull her in for a small side hug after moving Sebastian's arm off of her.
Sebastian smiled at the sight of the two girls. They really didn't compliment each other well.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Kurt scoffed at the sight. He was more concerned of breaking up the two girls than paying attention to his own boyfriend, who looked really uncomfortable with Kurt's attitude.
The Warbler couldn't help but fell bad for him.
"Did you guys know that it was Karaoke night tonight?" Sebastian asked breaking the silence.
"Unfortunately, they do not participate in singing activities here. After many attempts, they rejected all my suggestion for a Karaoke night here. They say it will drive customers away. They obviously never heard my voice." Rachel expressing her disappointment in the restaurant.
"Well I don't know how to explain to you how I convince them to set their stage up." Sebastian said nodding his head toward the stage.
Rachel gasped as she looked to the area Sebastian pointed at. How did she miss this?
"Would you like to joined me in a duet?" Sebastian asked Blaine.
"Yea..." Blaine eyes lighten up the same way that Rachel did at the opportunity to sing.
"Sorry..." Kurt spoke interrupting Blaine. "You are still the enemy."
Blaine look disappointed. He always hated not having the chance to sing.
Sebastian shrugged and turned to the bouncing brunette.
"Is that the same issue for you? Because I could really use a partner in this one. Of course if Quinn doesn't mind." Sebastian holding his hand up as he offered Rachel the mic he had hidden.
Rachel could never say no. Quinn smiled at how cute her girlfriend was behaving.
"Rachel! No!" Kurt hissed at her, not wanting her friend to sing with the guy who looks to be a threat with the New Directions and also his relationship.
"I'm sorry, Kurt. But do you know how long I've been asking them to do this?" Rachel asked not wanting for an answered before she accepted the Warbler's microphone.
Quinn smiled at Rachel's enthusiasm and also at Kurt's unmistakable annoyance of Sebastian presence.
Maybe Sebastian coming here wasn't so bad after all, but she would still have to keep him away from Blaine no matter how much she dislike Kurt. By the look on Blaine face as he watch Sebastian, she can tell this was going to be hard.
While watching Rachel and Sebastian perform, Quinn can feel Kurt steaming in his seat.
Thanks for reading!
