Chapter 5: Making progress

Welcome again to another chapter of let's stay together. Like I said I am putting up another new chapter to say sorry for the wait. But now I have much more free time so I am going to try to update much more regularly. Also this is the chapter I am going to use to get into some large time skips so I can kind of speed the story up a bit. This chapter will be small stories of Asuna and Kirito becoming closer and showing how close they are becoming. Anyway enough talking on with the story.

Sandwiches

(Floor 7)

Kirito and Asuna had just finished their hunting for the day and had decided to rest in the woods they had been in all day. As Kirito lay on the grass, hands behind his head he opened one eye to get a glance at Asuna. They had grown quite close in the past few floors and now were practically best friends. He noticed Asuna was fidgeting where she was sitting.

"Hey," Kirito began breaking the silence as he sat up "something bothering you?"

"I-it's nothing really," Asuna stuttered almost jumping at Kirito's voice "I just thought that m-maybe you would like a little lunch?"

"Gasp," Kirito began joking "one of Asuna-sama's famous meals that she spends hours alone perfecting? No."

"Huh? Why not?" Asuna almost yelled.

"I am not yet worthy of such perfect food!" Kirito actually yelled.

"Jeez Kirito-kun you can be such a child sometimes. Just take the food and be thankful I made you some." She said the last part with a deep blush

After removing his gloves Kirito began to eat the sandwich Asuna had made him. He took one bite and was immediately in love.

"Asuna I will marry you if I can have one of these every day forever." Kirito exclaimed grabbing Asuna's hands in both of his.

Asuna began to panic sure she had thought of Kirito and herself being more than friends one day but she was still unsure of how he felt. Was this a joke or a confession? No it couldn't be a confession nobody would ever confess like this.

"Kirito-kun," Asuna said in a low tone "you idiot!" As she screamed the second part of her sentence she swung her fist and caught him right in the jaw.

"Ow!" he screamed rubbing his jaw trying to figure out what had happened.

"Come on Kirito kun," Asuna said as she stood up "let's get back to the inn." As she started walking away she stepped on Kirito's sandwich and it disappeared from sight.

Kirito had an expression on his face immediately of betrayal. He turned to Asuna and pointed a finger at her.

"That is it," he screamed still pointing at her "we are never getting married"

"Jeez" Asuna mumbled as she began walking back. She figured he would catch up after his grief passed.

Real Names

(Floor 15)

"Hey Kirito-kun," Asuna broke the silence of their room at the inn "what is your real name?"

"Huh," Kirito replied slightly shocked "Asuna I know you're still new to this but that is something you never ask."

"Why not? We're friends aren't we? I don't see a problem with me knowing your real name." Asuna gave a look of determination this was information she wanted and she would have it.

"Well yes we are friends but my real name is something nobody in this world will get to know." Kirito said bluntly as he returned to his previous activity of sorting his inventory.

"But Kirito-kun," Asuna said in the cutest voice she could make "I really want to know the name of the person I am entrusting my life with."

She had a strong argument but Kirito was not going to give in to her pleas that easily he would get as much out of the situation as possible. The truth is he had no problem telling her his real name, they were really close after all. He just enjoyed the way she got irritated over little things.

"Well Asuna," Kirito finally began to lay his trap "how about a deal? We will duel and if you win I will tell you my real name."

"Deal!" Asuna shouted before Kirito could even finish.

"But if I win I can make any request of you that I like." Kirito finished explaining the deal with a little bit of a smirk on his face. He knew there was no way Asuna could beat him no matter how many times they dueled.

"F-fine," Asuna stumbled over her own words "I am confident I can beat you this time."

"If you are so confident then why are your knees shaking?"

"B-because it is cold in this inn. I am going to sleep I need to rest for tomorrow so I can win."

"Good luck." Kirito nearly sang.

The truth is Kirito was going to tell her his name whether she won the duel or not he just thought he could get something out of it.

(The next day)

Kirito and Asuna stood on opposite sides of an empty field. Asuna had her weapons ready and was just waiting for the time on the duel to run out so she could begin her attack. All she had to do was attack so much he couldn't block.

The timer then ran out and Asuna charged. Using her superior speed to attack before he could draw his weapon she activated a sword skill and thought she had the battle won.

Kirito then side stepped causing her blade to miss by mere inches. He then drew his sword and got into a battle stance. He knew he had won before all of this had even started. After drawing his weapon he began his attack.

He began a relentless attack and slowly drained her health to the yellow zone winning the battle flawlessly. Even more it had gone exactly as he had predicted the night before.

Asuna fell to the ground not disappointed that she had lost a fight but more so that she would never know Kirito's real name.

Kirito then walked up and held out a hand for her. After grabbing it he pulled her up and gave her a simple smile.

"So," Asuna began disappointment apparent in her voice "what is your request, Kirito-kun"

"Hmm," Kirito began thinking "not quite sure yet I will have to think about it and get back to you."

"Fine but don't make me wait too long or I won't listen to your request. Anyway I am going to go back to the inn I'm tired already."

"Alright, and Asuna just so you know my real name is Kirigaya. Kirigaya Kazuto."
