I'm so sorry I did not update sooner but I had some problems with my computer. In this chapter the girls go for a hike and find a "friend".

"Laurent?" I heard Bella say. She knew that man. He didn't look… normal. There was something weird about this person.
"Bella" His tone was deep and dark. I eyed him suspiciously but he seemed to ignore my presence.
"Laurent…" she said again and I took a step forward, staying side by side with my cousin.
"You seem… pleased to see me."
What did he want?
"I almost believed none of it happened."
The man laughed and moved forward so quickly that I barely saw it.
"What an odd thing to say."
I looked at Bella and she faced the mad without saying anything. I didn't understand what was going on.
Laurent moved again, faster than before and I took a step back.
"I didn't expect to find you here."
He walked around, as if he was teasing my cousin. It was clear that they knew each other from other times.
"I went to visit the Cullens but… their house is empty."
The Cullens… Edward's family…
"I'm surprised they left you behind, weren't you sort of a pet of theirs?"
How did this man find us? What was he doing in the woods? I followed every movement he made attentively, sometimes looking at Bella to see if she was okay.
"I- Something like that." Bella said following the man's movement.
"Do de Cullens… visit often?"
Why was he so interested in the Cullens? What business did he had with them? Or Bella?
She suddenly looked strange, gasped and seemed distracted and nervous.
Lie! I though. I wasn't buying any of that, the man had some trick under his sleeve. Lie Bella!
As if she heard my thoughts she said "Yeah, absolutely, all the time."
Come on Bella, you need to fool him, he's up to no good.
"I'll tell them you stopped by."
He looked amused, as if he was expecting the lies and waiting for another one to come out from her mouth.
"I probably shouldn't tell… Edward."
It was clear how much it pained her to say his name. And I was not the only one able to figure it out.
"Because he's pretty protective." She continued, still trying her best to delude him. "He might misinterpret this little get together."
Laurent smiled showing his perfect teeth and I stepped even closer to Bella.
"He'd be right. If he were here but he's far away, isn't he?"
Bella didn't answer and I saw that as my opportunity to interrupt the conversation. I grabbed her arm and pulled her behind.
"I think we should go." I said in a lowered tone.
Bella got rid of my grip and spoke in a more confident way.
"Why are you here?"
"I came as a… favor to Victoria."
"Victoria…"
Who was this Victoria? Edward's ex-girlfriend?
"She asked me to see if you were still under the protection of the Cullens because, well… I'm afraid Victoria is quite put out with you."
What was the meaning of all that? Was he, threatening my cousin?
"Me?"
"You see, Victoria feels it's only fair to kill Edward's mate given he killed hers."
"Wait what?" I had to interfere in the conversation again. "What's the meaning of this?
Laurent laughed at me and I put Bella behind me.
"An eye for an eye." He said looking at both of us.
"Edward would know who did it and he'd come after you." She sounded nervous and was contaminating me with her feelings.
"I don't think he will. After all, how much could you mean to him if he left you here, unprotected? Victoria won't be happy about me killing you but I can't help myself. You're so… mouth watering." Bella shook behind me and I felt at that moment that we were lost. This man was not… normal. His eyes were of a dark red and I knew deep inside me that he could not be human.
"Please don't!" Bella begged, grabbing my arm tightly. "I mean, you helped us."
I only had time to blink before Laurent was right in front of us, shoving me aside and touching my cousin's face. I fell on the ground and stared at them scared. He was strong…
"No, no, no, shhh… Don't be afraid. I'm doing you a kindness, Victoria plans on killing you slowly and painfully while I'll make it quick. I promise, you'll feel nothing."
He raised his arm and something inside of me gave me the courage to speak directly at him. "Get away from her!" I tried to push him away from my cousin but I ended up being shoved to the ground one more time.
"I don't believe it" I heard Laurent say while he looked to the trees. A strange noise came from the woods catching everyone's attention.
A huge dark wolf stepped out of the bushes right in front of us. Everyone was shocked, even the strange man.
"Bella…" I said getting up and grabbing her arm, pulling her back so we could run away from that place.
Four more wolves came after the black one and their growl scared both of us girls. What was happening here? What kind of animals were those? Was I dreaming? Was I drunk like Alex?
Laurent escaped at light speed and I pulled Bella again. "Bella! We need to get out of here! Bella, please!" I admit it, I was panicking, I was shaking with fear.
One of the wolves stopped right in front of my cousin and I lost my temper, I didn't know what to do and I actually thought we were going to die. The animal then ran away after the strange creature and we sprinted out of that forest.
The drive back home was a pit of silence. I was shaking on the passenger seat, while Bella tried to stay calm.
"Dad!" Bella shouted once we got home. "Dad! Where are you, dad?!"
She looked around the house and we found uncle Charlie in the kitchen with an older man.
"Dad, we saw them! They're not bears!"
I ran a hand through my hair, still shaking, and grabbed a glass of water, drinking everything.
"Wait Bella, explain." Uncle Charlie said, while the other man looked at me and I tried to smile.
"The animals you're after. We saw them in the woods-"
"In the woods? What were you doing in the woods Bells?" He looked worried but the other man looked compromised. As if he knew something.
"They're not bears, they're wolves."
"Huge wolves!" I said, pouring Bella a glass of water.
"Alright, alright girls, calm down." He then looked at the other man who was grabbing a gun. "Are you ready for a hunt Harry? Think you could gather the boys?"
Harry seemed caught off guard, a feeling I came very familiar with. "Sure." He said before leaving.
Charlie looked at us concerned. "Are you girls okay?"
Bella nodded and I did the same. I just wanted to be alone with her so she could explain me all that conversation with Laurent.
Uncle Charlie left a couple minutes later and I followed Bella into her room. "Can you please explain me what just happened?" I asked, raising my voice a bit, still nervous from what I saw.
"I know as much as you!" She was much shaken aback too and I didn't want to push her, but there was something she wasn't telling me.
"I'm talking about that man! Laurent! You knew him, who was he? What was he? And don't lie to me Bella, I'll know if you do."
"Alright, just sit down." I did as I was told and soon she started to explain what kind of person Laurent was. She had to tell me everything about the Cullens, what really happened that led to Edward's departure.
"Wow… just… wow… I don't know what to say Bella."
"You don't need to say anything just… Be here when I need you."
I nodded and smiled softly, getting ready to leave the room before she grabbed my arm.
"I was planning on visiting Jacob tomorrow, do you want to come?"
"But I thought you were-"
"I know." She interrupted. "But I need to see him."
...
I was about to fall asleep when my phone rang. Alex. Once again he called me late at night.
"Hey Alex." I said, feeling myself falling asleep again.
"Hey love, sorry about the texts. I missed you and I was worried because you were crying and-"
"Alex it's ok, you don't need to explain. Can we talk tomorrow? It's late and I'm tired, had a long day."
"Ok, goodnight."
"Goodnight, Alex."
Something felt strange. He didn't say that he loved me but neither did I. He was not smoking, not drinking… He didn't feel like the Alex I knew.
