Next morning Bella woke me up pretty early.

"Get up Eva, we need to hurry." She opened the curtains, allowing the clarity of the day to enter the dark room.

"Bella, it's 8 in the morning. We have time, Jake's not going to run away."

She snorted and pulled the bedsheets back. "Maybe he will!"

I decided to get up, not wanting to upset her, at least more than she already was.

I dressed in a plain white t-shirt, jeans and my black leather jacket while Bella grabbed me an apple so I could eat while she drove to the reservation.

"You sure you want to do this?" I asked when we arrived. She seemed confident so I didn't push her much.

I watched her exiting the car and waiting for me to get out but I actually didn't feel like joining their conversation. "I'll stay, still need to eat that apple." I grabbed the fruit and took a bite, tasting it while I watched my cousin walking towards the house.

I waited, patiently eating my apple when I saw a group of boys approaching. They all looked very muscular and proud, the type of people you don't want to mess with.

Bella stormed out of the house, screaming at them. What the hell was happening? I exited the truck, trying to listen to anything she was saying.

"What did you do?"

She was going to get herself in trouble, I knew that! That girl was a trouble magnet.

She pushed one of the boys and I thought to myself if I should go there or stay away from their argument. "What did you do to him?"

Another boy tried to approach her but the first one stopped him. What did he think he was going to do? Beat her?

"He didn't want this!" Bella said out loud, allowing me to hear the conversation.

The guy who was facing her spoke archly but I couldn't catch a word. That was going to turn into a big argument, I could feel it.

My legs moved towards the turmoil but something made me stop. Everything happened so fast… The larger boy laughed and she slapped him. I didn't know my cousin was capable of slapping a boy so… buffed.

He was shaking in a very strange way and the leader was trying to calm him down. Was he really going to hit her? What a coward!

I started to walk again when he turned into a giant wolf like the ones we saw at the clearing. I froze. I couldn't help her although I wanted to.

"Jacob run!" I heard her say, running away from the beast.

Yes, beast, that's what the guy was. Bella and I exchanged looks before she fell and another wolf jumped over her. Was that Jacob? I really thought I was going crazy. When I first saw the vampire Laurent I couldn't believe my eyes. Then when Bella told me about the Cullens being vampires too, I didn't know what to think. And then Jacob and some other guy turned into wolves right in front of me.

I was going mental.

The two animals were fighting each other before they disappeared trough the trees and Bella came back accompanied by two boys.

"Bella!" I ran towards my cousin, hugging her tightly. "Are you okay? Did he hurt you?" She shook her head and I could see from the corner of my eyes that the boys were trying not to laugh in front of us.

"Who are you?" I asked them archly. They were probably wolves too! Have I been surrounded by strange creatures all this time?

"I'm Jared and this is Embry. We're going to take Bella to Emily's house."

"No you're not! Bella's coming home with me! Stay away from her!" Suddenly I had got really protective over my cousin. I came to Forks to help her and that's what I was going to do. She needed to stay away from those dogs.

"Eva, it's okay-" She said but I had to interrupt her. "No it's not! I thought we could trust Jacob and he happens to be a huge killer wolf! I don't trust these two, you're coming with me, period! "

I didn't care if Embry and Jared listened to our conversation. I didn't care if I was offending them, I just wanted to take my cousin home and lock myself in my bedroom in order to forget that day.

"Don't speak of Jacob like that, and I'm not going home. You can come with us if you want, or you can walk home."

She was defying me. Isabella Swan, my little cousin! I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out. I entered the truck and seated there in silence, waiting for all that craziness to go away.

"Emily is Sam's girlfriend." One of the boys said. I didn't bother to comment or even look at them but Bella spoke the question that was haunting my mind. "Is she a wolf too?"

The boys laughed and shook their heads "No, she's human. When you meet her, don't stare."

Don't stare? What did he mean with that? I rolled my eyes and got out of the truck, crossing my arms and waiting for them. "I'll wait here, need to get fresh air." I didn't sound very logical but I didn't care. If Bella wanted to risk her life and enter a house full of shaggy dogs I was not going to stop her. I tried to reason with her but she was not interested in listening to me. She was stubborn, masochist and I was not going to put up with that.

I was leaning against the truck, kicking rocks when I heard voices approaching. I raised my head and saw Sam passing by me. He eyed me suspiciously before entering the house. Then came Jake and the other one. Fury took over me as I walked in their direction. "How could you hide something like this? I thought Bella was your best friend!"

Jake scratched the back of his neck while the other idiot looked at me without blinking. "And you! You were going to beat on a girl! What kind of man does that?"

"I was not going to hurt Bella -" He said in a rude tone.

"Really? So you just wanted to, what? Scare her to death?"

Jacob placed a hand on my shoulder but I immediately shoved him off. "You know, Jacob, I thought you were good to Bella. I thought she would get over Edward with your help. I even thought you would end up together! I was hoping it would happen but now… She doesn't need another monster in her life."

He looked hurt and I have to admit that I was being cruel. But Bella was my cousin and I didn't want her to suffer anymore.

"So what? You're going to play mom and forbid them to be friends?" The taller guy said. How could he even have the courage to speak to me? "Stay out of the conversation, I'm not talking to you, dog."

He was shaking again, starring at me with fury.

"Paul, calm down." I heard Jacob say.

"You're going to attack me now?" I laughed sarcastically but deep down I knew that if he attacked me I would be dead in a minute. Would Jake let him kill me? After all I had said to him, he probably would.

"What did you call me?" He stepped closer trying to intimidate me but that just challenged me even more.

"Dog." I said, starring at him, trying to look badass and hide my fear.

"Paul, ignore her, she's just being an idiot." Jake was now between us, trying to avoid the ugly fight that was about to blossom.

"What's happening here?" A voice said, making Jake turn his head while Paul and I kept our starring contest. I wanted to punch him in the face, even if it meant breaking my hand.

"Paul, get away from the girl." Sam ordered and the wolf did as he was told. Just like a dog.

"You better stay out of my way woman." Was he threatening me? How dare he?

"Woman? Is that meant to insult me? I would return the slap, if I took you for a man."

Paul decided to ignore my response and walked away, entering the house.

"I like this one!" said Embry and I simply rolled my eyes annoyed.

"You should leave." Sam was angry, I could tell. I had just made a scene and was ashamed of my actions of course. On the other hand it felt necessary. I simply nodded, avoiding making eye contact with anyone and left.
