18. Chapter
The first night in Paris wasn't how Magnus had expected it to be. He had hoped he could have stayed up all night, skyping with his boyfriend. Instead he was forced to share his bed with Lilac, which wasn't such a bad thing because Lilac liked to cuddle and she slept late.
Lilac had been trying to sleep on the plane, but since it was her first time in the air, she had to see everything. She kept looking outside the window, watching the sky, and watching the sky change color as they reached further into Europe. She had watched the sunset twice in one day, which was the high light in her entire life. She had flown over Europe, seeing countries she did not know existed. The worse part was that Magnus really wanted her sleep, so she could get use to the time difference, but there was no arguing with her. She wanted to stay awake to see it all and she wanted to be awake to see her mother.
That's when Magnus was reminded that he was going to see his high school sweetheart and the mother to his daughter. Magnus couldn't argue with his feelings, which was anger and excitement, and most importantly he was nervous. The last time Magnus was nervous was at Lilac's birth and that was a big deal, and this wasn't. Then why was he so nervous? There was nothing between them anymore. She left because she didn't want their daughter and she didn't want a future with Magnus. After that Magnus never thought he would find someone like Camille, and it was not like he had the chance to go out and meet anybody. Until Alec, the sweet and blushing babysitter who came bursting in, late, for is job interview at Idris bean. Magnus had fallen at that point, and he knew it, and strangely enough it didn't make him nervous. It excited him that he was happy and comfortable around Alec. His mother had told him that nerves could sometimes be a bad sign. Being nervous around the person you love, is not always a good thing, because you're suppose to be comfortable and relaxed around the person you give your heart.
As they arrived at the airport Camille was there to greet them with her chauffeur, Charles. Camille looked just the same as she did at 17, except her clothing was far more sophisticated and her blond her was shorter and wavy. She smiled as she made eye contact with Magnus, and Magnus couldn't help but smile back. As he approached, he felt his heart speed up, and he wanted to slap himself.
"Oh Magnus," she had said and leaned forward to give Magnus a proper French greeting. Butterfly kisses on each cheek and it had made Magnus blush. Blush! Magnus squeezed Lilac's hand to keep himself intact and he smiled down at his daughter.
"Lilac, this is Camille, your mother," Magnus said and glanced back up at Camille. "Camille meet your daughter, Lilac." And that's when all the drama began. Lilac had been excited at first, but when Camille came on to strong Lilac freaked out. Camille had talked about how much time they were going to spend together, and that she had a baby sister, Serena. Magnus saw the terror in Lilac's eyes, and on their way to Camille's apartment, she had cried and told her father she was scared. She was afraid that her mother was going to take her away from Magnus, she was afraid she was going to stay in the strange land that spoke a weird language she didn't understand.
"You're not going anywhere, sweetheart," Magnus said and touched her cheek, removing the wet tears. "You're coming back home with me. Why would you think Camille would take you away?"
"She hugged me too tight. And said we were going to spend a lot of time together," she responded and snuggled closer. "I don't want to. I only wanted to say hello." Magnus had been angry with Camille for her slip. A little girl can easily misunderstand and Camille understood. Serena was only 3 so she wasn't used to her understanding anything, so this was all new to Camille. She had apologized and showed them to their room, and that was it. Magnus have had a small conversation with Alec. He seemed a little drunk but happy to hear from him and that saved the rest of Magnus's day and he could go to sleep, feeling at ease.
The morning after was a little different. Paris seemed to come alive in the morning light. The streets were awake and it smelled like croissants. Magnus and Lilac had a full view to the Eiffel tower and Magnus couldn't help but take a picture of it and send it to Alec with a small and very fitteble caption, "I love you."
Magnus sighed and took in the French air, and exhaled. Being in a different country made things so much different. The feeling of the balcony underneath his touch felt foreign and expensive. The smell and air was cold and sweet, and it made Magnus loose his breath.
"Good morning daddy," Lilac said and came out on the balcony and rubbed her eyes. "It's so pretty."
"It is isn't it?" Magnus said and smiled and looked back out. Even though it was foreign, he still felt like he was home. Maybe it was because of Lilac or something else, he wasn't sure, but he felt comfortable here. "Hey, come here." He bend down and grabbed Lilac by the waist and sat her on the edge of balcony. He held her tight around the waist and leaned against her. He took the phone out, enough for them to take a photo, with the Eiffel tower as background.
"Picture time!" Lilac laughed out and leaned up to kiss Magnus on the cheek, and Magnus pressed the button. He placed Lilac, safely on the ground and rubbed her hair. He typed another message and attached the picture, and pressed send to Alec. He had promised to take pictures, so he got what he asked for.
"Hello," a French accent spoke and Magnus turned to see Camille standing in her nightgown and a tray with French baked croissants, egg, bacon, bread, cake and everything you need for the perfect first France breakfast.
"Oh wow," Magnus said and looked at the food. "This looks delicious."
"Well, of course," she spoke. Her accent was thick and noticeable. "I've lived in Paris ever since I was 17. I know how to make a decent French breakfast. Also Nadine, will be coming up with drinks."
"Nadine?" Magnus said and sat down next to her. Lilac skitted over to the last available seat and grabbed a croissant.
"Oui," Camille said and smiled at Magnus. "My housemaid."
"Oh, of course," Magnus said and snorted. "A housemaid. I should have guessed."
"Always a charmer," Camille said and laughed and her hand landed on Magnus's thigh. That's when he noticed he was only in his underwear. Her fingers was warm against his bare skin and when she rubbed them against him, they heated up even more. He looked over at Lilac, who had seen what was happening and she glared over at Camille.
"Erm, right," Magnus said and shifted in his seat, making her hand drop. "So you've been doing okay?"
"Yes. After," she nodded towards Lilac.
"After me," Lilac said and chewed a piece of her croissant. "You can say it. After my birth you left." Magnus wanted to snap at her and tell her that it was not okay to speak like that, but he couldn't make himself say it. Because she was right, and she had a right to express herself.
"After you, Lilac," Camille said and smiled like nothing was said. "I asked my parents if I could move to Paris with my uncle and aunt, and they said yes. So I've been here ever since. Attending the finest schools in Paris, and now I work as a realtor."
"Wow, I'm glad to hear that everything is going so well," Magnus said and took a piece of bacon. "So, tell me about Serena."
"Oh, my baby," Camille said and her green eyes glowed. "Let me start at the beginning. I was showing a man this beautiful apartment. We clicked. He asked me out for coffee and things went from there. I met him when I was 20." Magnus blinked, she was only 20 when she was finished with everything. She had a life at the age of 20. At the age of 20, Magnus was teaching Lilac how to use the toilet and get rid of the diapers. At the age of 20, he was doing his best to keep the job his parents had helped him get. At the age of 20, Magnus had done nothing for himself or by himself.
"His name is Marcel Moreau," she said and took a piece of cake. "He's a duke. His family is very noble and honorable in Paris. He's the love of my life. We got married a few weeks after we met and a year later we had Serena." Magnus blinked and paused with the piece of bacon he was about to put in his mouth. Camille was really getting it on with her life. Marrying a duke, making a family and having a career at a young age.
"It sounds amazing," Magnus said and finally took a bite of his bacon, trying to chew the envy away. "I'm happy for you Camille."
"Thank you," she said and grabbed Magnus's hand. "I'm so glad you are here." She smiled and rubbed her thumb against Magnus's knuckles. "That you both are." She looked over at Lilac and smiled. Lilac just stared before rolling her eyes and continued eating her breakfast.
"Now tell me, Magnus," she said and removed her hand to tear her croissant in two. "How are you doing?"
"Oh nothing special," Magnus said. "Though there is someone special in my life."
"Yes," Lilac said with her mouth full of food. "His name is Alexander Lightwood and they are very much in love."
"Yes," Magnus said and smiled. "He's amazing, and I love him. Very much." Camille smiled and nodded slowly.
"I'm glad," she said. "You should have mentioned a boyfriend. I could've arranged another ticket so he could come with you. This is Paris. The city of love. It would have been perfect."
"Not for you," Lilac mumbled with her mouth full, Magnus blinked and looked over at her. She glanced up and looked into her father eyes, before taking a bite. Magnus was going to say something, when Nadine showed up with a tray of three steaming white cups. She placed them on the table and smiled at them all before excusing herself.
"Mmm, cappuccino," Camille said and licked her lips before spooning the coffee. "Yours is here." She pushed a white cup with a blue line across it, towards Magnus. "Extra milk, and extra cinnamon and cacao. Just like you like it." She smiled brightly at Magnus and Magnus felt a little warm inside that she actually remembered. It had been 7 years since they last saw each other, and yet, she remembered how he liked his coffee the best.
"You remember," Magnus said and cupped his cup.
"Of course," Camille said. "I remember everything concerning you." She looked over at Lilac and pushed the white cup with a pink line across it, towards her. "I wasn't sure what you liked. But hot chocolate seemed like a good fit. I mean, what little girl doesn't like hot chocolate."
"Me," Lilac said and smirked before pushing the cup away. "And I'm not a little girl."
"Lilac," Magnus hissed and got up from his chair. "A word." Lilac sighed and got up from her chair before following Magnus into their room.
Magnus walked towards the bed and crossed his arms before turning to Lilac. She glanced up at her father and didn't look that cocky anymore. Her smirk had fallen and she looked afraid. She walked slowly towards her father and sat down on the bed.
"What's wrong with you?" Magnus asked and looked down at Lilac. She shrugged and fumbled with her pajama sleeves. "And since when do you not like hot chocolate?"
"Since she made it," she huffed and crossed her arms and looked away. Magnus straightened up and blinked, realizing it was all Camille. She didn't like Camille, at all. All those stares and eye rolling had been every time Camille had spoken up. Magnus didn't blame her for not liking Camille. It was a big deal meeting your mother. Then knowing that shortly after she abandoned them, she started her own family. With a new daughter.
"Okay," Magnus said and uncrossed his arms. He sat down next to her slowly, and rubbed his palms against his thighs. "This is about Camille, right? I'll tell her to back off."
"Tell her to back off of you, then I'll be fine," Lilac said and bit her bottom lip.
"What?" Magnus said and couldn't help but laugh.
"I don't care that she's all over me. I mean, at first I didn't like it. She's my mommy and I didn't like her being that close to me. She scared me," Lilac said and looked up. "She can be over me but not you. I don't like her touching you daddy. I don't like her smiling at you. She's bad news."
"Bad news?" Magnus repeated and smiled. "Are you worried she's going to take me away from you?"
"Daddy, you're getting it all wrong. I'm afraid she's going to take you away from Alec," Lilac said and got up. "I like Alec." She grabbed Magnus's face and Magnus's eyes widened in surprise. "You need to remind Camille of that." She leaned down and placed a kiss on his forehead before walking out on the balcony, leaving Magnus numb.
Had he just got a lecture from his 7-year-old daughter? Yes, he had noticed that Camille was a little touchy, but he didn't take anything by it. But if Lilac was catching on to something he should rethink the whole thing. Lilac was right about Alec, he had to remind Camille about Alec and also he had to talk to her. He had to tell her how much she had hurt him and betrayed him, but yet still given him the biggest gift he could ever wish for. But first thing first was to stop letting Camille get to close and talk about Alec. He stood up and awkwardly walked back to the breakfast table. Camille was showing Lilac pictures on her phone and Lilac tried to seem interested. Magnus sighed and sat down on his chair and stared at the picture before him. It was clear that this would be the perfect picture. A mother working as a famous realtor, a father working to get his promotion and their perfect little daughter. But this was not the picture Magnus wanted. He seeked something else, someone else to share this picture with. His phone vibrated and he grabbed it before the others was caught by the sound of it. He looked down and saw a picture of Alec. And he couldn't help but smile. Alec's black hair was wet, and curling around his beautiful forehead. He was pouting and his blue eyes was a sparkling blue, and they made Magnus's heart beat faster. But what caught his attention was the fact that he was naked, well his chest was visible for Magnus to look at. His pretty, pale and toned chest was sparkling and dripping from a shower Alec must have taken. Magnus licked his lips at the thought of Alec actually daring to take a picture like this. Magnus trailed his eyes down looking at those delicious abs staring at him, and looking so lickable. Magnus glanced up and looked at his daughter before turning around and typing excitingly.
Magnus Bane 12.12pm:
Well, isn't this a wet surprise. You look absolutely gorgeous, gorgeous. If I wasn't surrounded by this beautiful French view and my daughter, I would definitely be doing something French with my tongue around that wet and hard body of yours. Yum.
Magnus smirked to himself and bit his bottom lip, feeling a little guilty sexting his boyfriend at a moment like this but whom was he kidding. When your boyfriend send you a picture, naked, and wet you have to take the chance. It didn't take long before his phone vibrated.
Alec Lightwood 6.13am:
Erm… Magnus. That picture was not meant for sexting…
Magnus Bane 12.13pm:
Then don't send pictures of yourself naked! And wet either!
Magnus smiled at his phone and scrolled up to the picture again and smiled. How did he get so lucky to have such a beautiful and sexy boyfriend? Oh, right, he could thank his daughter for needing a babysitter and his own and old man hormones.
Magnus Bane 12.16pm:
I'm sorry… I miss you ):
Alec Lightwood 6.17am:
I miss you too, Magnus. And, I love you too. Say hello to Lilac. I have to go now. Gotta get ready for school. Skype later?
Magnus Bane 12.20pm:
Totally skype later. If you promise to be naked and wet… and in bed.
Alec Lightwood 6.22am:
Perv :P
Magnus smiled and placed the phone back on the table and started to sip his coffee. Alec hadn't exactly said no to being naked and wet and in bed when they were going to Skype. Magnus might have his hopes to high, but if Alec didn't do as requested it was something the little box Magnus have given him could change.
So, how was this for an update? Next up will be some hot and kinky stuff, and also the reveal of the little box's content!
