Clorine sighed as she wiped down the walls on one of the little balcony's inside the castle.

"Who knew walls could get so dusty" she murmured to herself

Her mind wandered to Lance he had to be the most interesting person she meet.

He's seems scared yet slightly confident them two things don't go together!

He's kinda cute too.

Clorine stopped and blushed "where did that come from!" she exclaimed looking around Really? Looking to see if anyone's around to hear what I thought it? Genius!

She grumbled slightly frustrated at herself, just think of something else… like these strand nicks in the wall and floor. Yup think about that...wait, what?!

Kneeling down on the floor, she looked at them, they were odd like a sharp object had been jabbed here and there "Weird."

Clorine stood up and cheeked the rest of the wall and flooring "it's not part of the pattern there only in a phew spots…. I really need to stop talking to myself"

While cleaning Clorine continued to watch for more of them.

She found some more throughout the castle. I need to write this down. If only I had something to write with..

She looked up and smiled "Andrews!" she called to the guard as he passed by.

He stopped "Can I help you miss Clorine?"

"Yeah, umm, do you know where I can find some paper and something to write with?" She asked smiling

He raised an eyebrow "Odd request for a maid."

She nodded "I know, but I need it to make a list."

"A List" Andrews asked. Now with both eyebrows raised

"Yeah, kinda to like… you know wright down what rooms I've cleaned" She replied with a plastered smile "This place is so big it and alll..."

She mentally hit herself you are not good at stretching the truth.

He stared at her for a minuet "Come this way"

He lead her to a room that had a table with paper quills and ink, other than that the room was empty.

"What room is this?" she asked curiously

Andrews smiled "The writing room, the cook uses it to write the menu the guards use it to write letters to their families"

"Oh" Clorine walked over to the table "Handy"

"Yes the Guards seem to think so," he replied

She leaned back against the table, "And Who do you write to?"

He shrugged "No body"

Clorines eyebrows furred "You don't have family?"

A Strange look crossed Andrews Face "Umm No.. I think not. I have to go."

She watched him hurry from the room, "Everything and everyone in this castle is mysterious."

She turned and grabbed a piece of paper and a quill, then begin to write.

The nicks on the wall and Floor appeared several different places

1. They only appeared on one side of the room. if they were on the right there

be none on the left.

and visa versa

2. Wherever they were on the opposite side of the room straight across from

them there was a room or hallway.

She looked at what she had written

"It makes no sense, maybe Lance will know," she said to herself before grabbing the list and running to the attic

"Does any of this makes sense to you?" She asked, handing him the list while telling him about the nicks

He shook his head "No. Although the places you wrote down where you saw them are all main hallways."

"I know, they were only in hallways never in a room," she paced back and forth

"Could someone had dropped something?" he asked

She shook her head "No, it would only be in one spot"

"True." he said absent-mindedly

Crossing her arms, she leaned against the wall "What's up?"

"Meaning?" he asked

Clorine shrugged "I can tell somethings on your mind"

He sighed "The Councils coming over and they want me to be in the meeting"

"Well. You are the Prince," she replied

"I know, but I just freak out, A little when I'm around groups of people and then the shadows come," he said talking faster the more he talked.

She held up her hands "Woah! Calm down."

He took a couple of deep breaths "sorry"

"It's ok," she smiled before frowning "Hold on, the Shadows when do they come?"

"Whenever I'm around people, sometimes when i'm alone" he answered

Clorine nodded slightly "And the voice's?"

"Only when I'm alone." he said looking down

"Interesting" she walked towards the door "When will the council be here?"

"In an hour" He looked at her and tilted his head "Why all the questions?"

She walked out of the room "we'll see," was all she said before closing the door.

Corrine groaned "I'm being to think, this is useless."

"Tell me about it" Renee answered

Aramina sighed "I miss the sun."

"The sun? Is that all?! How about baths! And clean dresses!" Viveca exclaimed

"And food other than roots" Renee cut in.

Rubbing her head Corrine sat down "That plan did not go as planned"

"No kidding" Renee huffed

"I don't know what went wrong" Corrine exclaimed

"I know" Aramina said "You planned it so carefully"

Viveca nodded "Oui"

"And yet Look at us!" Corrine stood back up "I'm losing my mind down here!"

"We will find a way out" Aramina said, putting a hand on Corrnie's shoulder

Renee sighed "it's been over 16 years..,. I think."

"Exactly!" Aramina said with determination "We've survived this long we will find a way home!"

"I hope you're right" Corine said "And I hope Benjamin is ok."

Clorine watched as the Counsel walked down a hall led by King Phillip, Lance followed not far behind them.

Her eyes widened slightly as a shadow quickly passed across them "What?"

Lance looked around, but nothing was there. He shivered slightly

Clorine blinked a couple times from where she was standing. The shadow passed a couple more times, but when she looked up, nothing was there "how?"

She watched as Lance went over to Phillip and whispered something in his ear, the King shook his head then nodded, Lance walked off

Clorine sighed Lance was heading back to the Attic.

I'll talk to him later, first I want to know what they talk about.

She watched as they went into a room and closed the door, sneaking over to it she pressed her ear against it.

Murmuring was all she could hear, Except every now and then a word popped out,

"Wedding, for the Kingdom, money." she repeated the words she heard as she walked to the Attic.

Lace was laying across a big chest upside down.

"We need to talk" Clorine said, walking over to him.

"About what?" He asked

"You're not crazy. Them shadows I saw them too," she said.

He sat up so fast he fell off the chest. "You did?! But no one else saw them"

Clorine nodded "Yes, I saw them, what it was, I don't know it passed too quickly"

He smiled "But you saw them!"

"Yeah, and something else, them strange nicks I was telling you about. There's now some were the "shadow" went, they were not there before." she told him

"So I might not be crazy!" Lance said happiness in his voice

"Told ya," she said playfully pushing him "but I need to ask you a question

"It's become a custom of yours" He said with a smirk

She crinkled her nose "yeah, whatever. Any ways they were talking about a wedding. Money and the Kingdom, do you know what that's about?"

He nodded "The Kingdoms not been doing well financially since well..."

"Your parents disappeared?" she finished

"Yeah, so Phillip decided it was a good idea, to unite France with a wealthy kingdom, to do that there must be a wedding." Lance explained

"Oh" Clorines face fell "So you are getting married?"

"What! No!" he exclaimed quickly

She cocked her head, "But you just said..."

"Phillip's getting married, not me," he replied

"Oh" Clorine said. Awkward. She felt her cheeks redden.

A cute smiled crossed Lances face "would you have cared if, I was getting married?"

Clorine's blush deepened "I need to go, clean, dust my job," she stuttered as she dashed out the door.

Lance smile grew bigger.

Clorine couldn't keep her mind empty as she swept the floor.

"Couldn't play it cool? Noo had to freak and run" she mumbled

She let out a small gasp as she felt something sharp poke her back and a hand go over her mouth.

"Listen girl." A Deep chilling voice whispered "Keep your nose where it belongs and leave the past where it belongs"

Clorine wiggled a little but stopped as the sharp object was pushed a little more

"It would be a shame for you to join accent history, I'm I understood?" the voice growled

She nodded.

"Good" The Voice whispered before shoving her forward

she fell on the floor and looked behind her only to see the hallway was totally empty as if no one had been there.
