Chapter Five: The Bonds of Friendship?
At Mr. Holmes' house an argument continued on between Mr. Holmes, Serena, and Kara. But mostly between Mr. Holmes and Serena with the occasional interruption by Kara. "She said she was a slayer. Is it true? Was there a slayer that was turned into a vampire?" asked Serena.
Mr. Holmes fidgeted in his seat and decided that she needed to know. "Yes, there was a slayer who was turned. Her name was Yuki Makimura."
Serena was furious, "Why haven't I ever heard of this before? You'd think a slayer turned vampire would come up at some point."
Mr. Holmes sat there looking guilty. "After it happened The Watcher Council was embarrassed and had every mention of Yuki erased. Only members of the council knew the truth. It is strange, though, she has never left Japan before."
"Her master thought I was the person killing off the vampires. He must have thought that a slayer vampire could handle the problem," said Serena.
"We still have no idea what is killing the vampires off, do we?" Mr Holmes said.
Kara raised her hand slowly. Feeling guilty that her actions had put Serena in danger. "It has been me. I heard the plight of the people in this city when I left home and came to Earth. I wanted to help. I'm sorry my actions have endangered you."
Of course, Serena knew without a doubt that it was Kara after Kara had saved her life. She saw the amazing things Kara could do. "None of this is your fault. You are helping people, doing the right thing by slaying the vampires. And The Master would have sent someone after me eventually. I am The Vampire Slayer, and he is a vampire. It was inevitable."
Mr. Holmes was confused, "Wait, how have you killed so many vampires? They've dropping like flies. You can barely stand. What are you capable of?"
Kara had to think about that, "I am not sure of the full extent of my powers. They are new to me. On my planet nobody has these abilities. I know I can fly, move faster than you can blink, shoot out heat vision, and I have strength that far exceeds a vampire's."
Mr. Holmes looked at the woman in front of him in shock. "how come you are so weak now?" he asked
Kara didn't feel like answering this question, "Because I was poisoned the other night and took a pretty hefty beating from those vampires. That plus the fact that there is so much smog here blocking most of the sun's rays."
"Okay make sense." Mr Holmes said as he started to walk over to the slayer, "Serena can I see you outside."
Serena got up and they walked outside and Mr . Holmes stopped her. "what do you want?" asked Serena
"I'm going inform the council of Kara. We going to leave her here while she still weak." Said Mr. Holmes.
This made Serena quite upset, "What are talking about?" asked Serena. "We can't tell The Watcher Council about her. Do you know what they would do if they found out somebody has that kind of power? They would want her dead."
Mr. Holmes was confused why was she worried at all, "They may, but what does it matter?" he asked
"I won't let that happen. That WOMAN saved my life tonight. I won't betray her not even to the council." She said with great anger and great emphasis on the word woman.
Back in the house Kara powers were acting up she was hearing the conversation happening outside, but only bits and pieces of. She heard Mr. Holmes say that he going to tell some council about her. She did not hear Serena's protest. The final nail in coffin was hearing Mr. Holmes say to leave while she was still weak. Kara Felt despair start to grow in her. Soon the heartbreak she felt boiled to the surface. Tears started to flow down her face. Kara ran outside in front of Mr. Holmes and Serena, "How could you do this? How could you plan to betray me? I am in lo…" Kara asked Serena unable to finish her sentence her voice so choppy.
Serena watched upset and stunted by what just happen, "I wasn't going to," but Serena was cut off as Kara run away as fast she could. Leaving Serena crying over the fact that the woman she loved thought she was going to betray her and probably doesn't want anything more to do with her.
