Chapter Twenty-Three
I Don't Dance
"I don't dance, But here I am
Spinning you around and around in circles
It Ain't my style, but I don't care
I'd do anything with you anywhere" - Lee Brice
Oh good lord. Her head was spinning in circles as she say the tiny hand on the clock getting closer and closer to the number one. Only five minutes before showtime.
She can't believe it. She's getting married. It was only a few months ago when Jamie was born and here she was, about to become Mrs. freaking Potter for Merlin's sake.
Breathe in. She looked at the clock. Breathe out. Breathe in. Breathe out. Sooner rather than later, she gripped control over her overreacting mind.
Just. She needed a moment.
She sat down in the chair nearby, making sure not to wrinkle her dress too much and reminisced on the past few months.
A huge sigh of relief echoed from Hermione's mouth into the room as she stepped back into her home. It felt amazing to home. She hated hospitals with a passion. They gave her the creeps.
She sat down her baby bag lightly before setting her purse down beside it, trying not to jostle the bundle in her arms. The bundle shuffled for a moment but settled back down into the warm cocoon.
Hermione peaked down into the bundle and pressed a small kiss into the James' forehead. She took the stairs one at a time, taking her time and made her way to the nursery. She opened the door, which she was not allowed to look at because it was a surprise from Harry.
A gasp fell open from her mouth. The floors were a beige color and the walls were a soft white. The walls had a small blue trimming and right in the middle of the far wall was a window that overlooked the enter front yard. The crib was wooden, a light wood but sturdy, and the inside of it was a dark blue with snow white trimming that looked vintage. She sat the baby inside the crib and spent the next hour going over that little room, memorizing every detail.
A wail brought her attention away from the super adorable baby clothes that Harry had somehow bought and she had no clue about it.
"Aw baby" Hermione said out loud, before going over and gently picked James up, making sure to cradle his head. She bounced him up and down, and after discovering that the tyke wasn't wet or hungry, that he needed affection or loving. She sat down in the light, wooden rocking chair in the corner that had cushioning, and began to sing a song her mother used to sing to her when she was younger.
"A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you're fast asleep
In dreams you will lose your heartache
Whatever you wish for you keep
Have faith in your dreams and someday
Your rainbow will come smiling through
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
the dream that you wish will come true
A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you're feeling small
Alone in the night you whisper
Thinking no one can hear you at all
You wake with the morning sunlight
To find fortune that is smiling on you
Don't let your heart be filled with sorrow
For all you know tomorrow
The dream that you wish will come true
When you can dream then you can start
A dream is a wish you make-"
She abruptly stopped, seeing a figure in the doorway.
"Well, I'm not stopping you. It was beautiful. Please. Continue on." Harry's voice said. She smiled and rocked James back and forth for a moment before looking at Harry.
"The song is beautiful isn't it?"
"Yes. But seriously, Disney? Really?" He asked, amused.
"Hey. I'll let you know my mother and I were huge fans of Disney, thank you very much." She said with a grin on her face. Silence followed, nether of them speaking.
"Well. Are you going to continue?" He asked.
Hermione cleared her throat and continued.
"When you can dream then you can start
A dream is a wish you make with your heart
When you can dream then you can start
A dream is a wish you make with your heart
A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you're fast asleep
In dreams you will loose your heartache
Whatever you wish for you keep
You wake with the morning sunlight
To find fortune that is smiling on you
Don't let your heart be filled with sorrow
For all you know tomorrow
The dream that you wish will come true
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
The dream that you wish will come true
When you can dream then you can start
A dream is a wish you make with your heart
When you can dream then you can start
A dream is a wish you make with your heart
When you can dream then you can start
A dream is a wish you make with your heart"
And with that, Hermione stood and after making sure that James was asleep, put him back in the crib and smiled down at him and two arms wrapped around her waist.
"I love you."
"Here comes the airplane! Whoosh!" Hermione made sure to make the sounds, as it was keeping three month old Jamie smiling. The spoon full of banana and apple mush made it into his mouth but only about three-fourths of the amount went down. She took a napkin and wiped his face affectionately and kept making funny noises to get him to eat the mush.
"Boo!" A scream made it way out of Hermione's throat and she turned around to see Harry grinning like the Cheshire cat.
"You Jerk. You scared the sh-znit out of me you butt!" She had taken a habit to not cursing in front of the baby.
"Mione. I'm sorry." He didn't look very sorry. The little shit looked absolutely pleased with himself. Hermione humphed and turned away. Two arms wrapped around her waist and tugged her into the back of her fiance.
"I love you" He whispered in her ear slowly and kissed her neck, lightly, as if she was about to break. She shivered, because it was the one place that caused her to go week in the knees. She was about to turn around and kiss him as deeply as possible when a cry erupted from the small child nearby.
They both turned their heads toward him.
"Did he-"
"He did." For the past three months, little Jamie had not cried, laughed, or screamed in the slightest. Sure, for the first week, he had. But after that, he stuck to sniffling or ever laughing, or crying. Not a single whimper out of the kid.
Hermione rushed over and kissed her baby's cheek. Sure, any other mother wouldn't be getting excited over such a little thing but she wanted her baby to make noises.
"Hermione."
"Hermione."
"Hermione!"
"Hmm! I'm awake!" Hermione said as she gained focus on reality.
"Are you okay? We're live in two minutes." Ginny stated, giving her a sip of water.
Ginny looked absolutely amazing in her golden dress. It was floor-length and was strapless. It clung to her body at the top and hung down from the waist. Her black high heels were some-what noticeable, and they made her probably five inches taller. Her make-up was simple, a little reddish-brown eye-shadow, eyeliner and mascara, along with a hint of strawberry lip gloss and she looked like perfection.
"Excuse me, but we need out bridesmaid and bride out here. We're going on in less than two minutes." Astoria stepped into the room, and Hermione's jaw dropped.
Astoria was wearing a royal red, one shoulder dress that fitted at the top but hung at the waist slightly. Her strappy heels were showing slightly and her hair hung down in messy black ringlets that came down in waves. Her band were pinned back, giving her hair a look of volume. Her gray eyes were lined in black liner, black eye-shadow, and pure black mascara. Her lips were a medium plum color, and lined with a slightly dark plum color. It brought out her facial features and all in all, it made her look more mature.
"Um. Have your boyfriends seen you yet?" Hermione asked, genuinely.
"No. Why?" They answered at the same time.
"Because if they did, they would be ravishing you. With no cares."
"We could say the same thing to you Hermione." They led her to a full-length mirror and she looked at herself and gasped.
She hadn't had a proper chance to look at herself but now that she did, she looked like a whole frigging different person.
Her dress started a mixture of black and white at the top, which clung to her like a second skin. It faded to white as the design continued on and on, a trail of black lacing zig-zagging the front of it. It flowed out at the bottom, like a waterfall, and was poofy. Her heels were somewhat hidden but you could see the sparkle and shine of the glitter on the front and back of the heels. Her makeup was a mixture of Gothic yet sweet-heart like. Her hair hung down to her waist in small dark-brown ringlets and single diamond crown was in her hair was a veil behind it.
(LINKS ON PROFILE. GO THERE NOW.)
"Ladies! It's go time!" All three girls brushed their hands on their dressed and went outside to get in line. Draco with Ginny. Ron with Astoria. Charlie With Molly. Bill with Fleur. And Hermione with Arthur. Arthur was like her second father, so it was only right that she walked down the aisle with him.
The music started. One by one, each pair went and soon, it was Hermione turn. A different tune started, one familiar to this tradition. A shuffle was heard around the room and many gasps were heard as Hermione came into view. She made sure to keep in tempo with the song and she could've cried the moment she looked into Harry's eyes and saw them shining with tears, but radiating happiness. She and Arthur got to the steps before Harry and he kissed her forehead before handing her off to Harry.
Harry held her hand and led her up the stairs up to the place in front of him. He smiled a smile that held so much meaning at her and she smiled a watery one back.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, we are gathered here today..." The ceremony started as any other ceremony would. Hermione went into her own little word, not noticed the words of the priest but her focus came back onto Harry when she saw his mouth moving.
"Hermione Jane Granger. I've loved you since my first year. I may not have known it but you were my world from first year on. When we first got together after the final battle, my heart literally would not stop pounding whenever I thought of you. I thought 'Why haven't I done this sooner?'. When someone, came along and ruined what we had, I literally drunk myself into oblivion every night of every week of every month. Because I had let the best thing ever, the one girl I loved with all my heart, slip away without getting to tell her. I'll never make that mistake again, because Hermione, I love you. I'm sorry that we've had to go through so much this past decade, but if it means being with you, I'd do it all over again. I love you. I plan on many fights, make-ups, children, and the future with you and no one else. You are my world and you will forever be my world."
A tear slipped from Hermione's eye. It was just so emotional. She had never known that Harry's felt that way for who knows how long.
She cleared her throat. "Harry James Potter. I didn't write anything because I didn't want it to sound memorized." A short laugh ran through the crowd.
"I love you, Harry. Unconditionally. You could be poor and deformed and I'd still love you because you're you Harry. No one can replace you. I want the rest of my life to be with you and always with you. My heart pounds so fast when I'm with you, I'm afraid that I'm going to pass out. My thoughts are occupied by you every living day and I can't live without you. I refuse to. I remember my first year, and I saw this shy little boy, who hid behind his hair and glasses and blushed at almost everything and I think that's the moment I loved you. I've loved you since and I will love you till I die." Harry's lip wobbled for a split second that only Hermione saw before he smiled a rather watery smile at her.
The rest of the ceremony continued as it should. It seemed like it was going to be forever until they got to the best parts.
"Do you, Harry James Potter, take Hermione Jane Granger to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do."
"Do you, Hermione Jane Granger, take Harry James Potter to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"Yeah." A chuckle rather through the crowd and Hermione blushed.
"I mean, I do." She smiled shyly at the priest and he shook his head at her.
"I declare these two, Mr. and Mrs. Harry James Potter. You may kiss your bride." Barely a second afterwards, Harry surged towards Hermione and captured her lips in a deep and meaningful kiss and a bright white light consumed the entire room.
Hermione and Harry pulled back and Hermione, she don't know why she did it, looked down at her ring finger to see that the plain gold ring now had a something carved into it. Harry - Forever and Always. She pulled Harry's hand towards her and sure enough, his ring had something familiar carved into it.
Hermione - Always and Forever.
She looked into Harry's dark, blazing emerald eyes before pressing her lips to his forcefully and getting catcalls out of the crowd, all the while fireworks are going off in their heads.
My life. My love. My temptation. My everything. I love you.
So, there's chapter twenty three. Woohoo! So, I wanna know. Do you guys want an epilogue or not? I'm not gonna write an epilogue if my fellow readers don't want one. I can end the story here. It's up to you guys. Also, sorry if this chapter sucked ass. I'm tired as fuck.
