Chapter 3: The mind of a criminal

Cameron's condo was surprisingly detailed. Unlike Harvey's place, this place filled with art works from various time period. Each of the art work had been taken care and displayed properly and proudly by its owner.

"Lovely, isn't it?", Cameron neatly hung his jacket and vest on the wall, "Harvey doesn't have much interest about art but what can I say, that boy still too young in many ways."

Mike didn't answer. Talking about his boyfriend to his boyfriend's ex was not a pleasant thing to do and Mike had enough unpleasant things for one day already.

"Care to answer that?", Cameron pointed to the vibrated phone in Mike pocket.

Mike took it out and saw the same name that had been calling him for the past five hours, Harvey. He turned the phone off and put it back to his pocked. He had to make peace with the past first before dealing with the present.

"Wine?", Cameron gestured Mike to sit down on one of the sofa

"Water please."

Mike hung his vest and walked toward the sofa next to the one Cameron pointed. As he sat down, Cameron brought out two cups of coffee and put one in front of Mike. Were they playing game in which neither of them would listen to what other say or something was just not right about this man? Either way, Mike took a sip from his coffee to show his manner.

"Mike...", Cameron put down his coffee, "What do you think about Harvey?"

"I presume that 'I love him enough to beat you up' is not the correct answer then."

"Isn't it great to be young?", Cameron chuckled, "Harvey and I...We had a long history. He was young, talented and yet, very naive. I just got out of my failed marriage and Harvey was like an amazing fresh wind that blow into my life. I risked my everything to make him successful and make him mine. However, my way had scared him away..."

Cameron's voice echoed back and forward in Mike's head as if it was really far away. His eyes stated to lose the vision. He shook his head to get rip off the dizziness but it became worse and worse.

"You bastard! You drugged me!"

"I love him, Mike, and you know he loves me too. Why do you think someone wants to get rip off after all these years? I want him to choose, Mike. And the choice will be me."

"But you're not that confident, aren't you?" Mike laughed even though his legs had already gave in "You brought me here, drugged me and tried to get me out of the way. You are scared that Harvey has already forgotten about you. You are scared that he would choose..."

The next thing Mike knew was that Cameron kicked him a few times. After that, everything was pitch black. No sound. No movement. Mike was completely trapped in a house of a criminal.

It was 5am but Harvey showed no sign of going to bed. Mike was nowhere to be found. He had been calling for hours but Mike, as he assumed, still too angry to answer him. The idea that his puppy wandered around the city at this time, feeling sad and betrayed caused more pain to Harvey more than he though it ever would. He wanted to run after Mike the moment mike jumped out of the car but he knew it would be no use. Mike needed time to calm down. But for Mike to disappear like this was a whole different story. Havery's hunch told him that something must have happened to his lover. Suddenly his phone vibrated. It was Mike's number. Harvey picked it up without thinking.

"Mike! Where are you now? I have been calling..."

"Sorry to disappointed you, Harvey. But I'm not your Mike."

Harvey flinched. How did her get this number? What did he do to Mike?

"Cameron! Where is Mike?"

"Safe and sound. For now. Harvey, you know where I live right? Don't don't you pay me a visit first thing tomorrow and we will talk about it."

"If you dare to hurt Mike..."

Cameron hung up before Harvey could say anything. This was no joke. Harvey knew that in order to achieve his goal, Cameron would do anything. Cameron has done it to him, he would do he same to Mike. Dammit! This was why he didn't want Mike to involve in the this case.

Harvey took his vest and headed to the door. He hadn't changed clothes since yesterday but who cared now. He pushed a button on his phone when he tried to catch a cab in front of of his building, speed dial 2, Donna.

"This better be good news Harvey."

"Worst. Cameron had Mike."

"Where are you now?"

"I'm heading to the office."

"I'll meet you there in 10 minutes."

Harvey climbed in a cab and told the address. No-one could face Cameron without a plan and win. They needed a plan. No. They needed to be press it where it hurt the most, his weak point. Harvey checked his contact list and pressed a name that he though he would never call.

"You should be happy to know that I'm still awake that this god damn hour."

"Come to my office. Now."

"And why should I?"

"You want to see Cameron in jail right? I want him dead. My office now or the deal is off."

"Roger"

Harvey hung up when his cab stopped in front of the Pearson-Hardman building. He threw a bill in the cab and ran inside the building. Harvey was no longer a little boy and it was time to show Cameron what he got After all, it was him that taught Harvey that once a person pulled out a gun, we pulled out a bigger one.
