Giselle was holding Ian's collar roughly and, as Diana watched, Giselle slapped Ian across his face.

Chapter 22

"What the-?" Diana ran to Jennifer who was looking aghast at how the situation was unfolding in front of her eyes.

Hina was sitting on the floor with a dazed look on her face. She was massaging her jaw and looking at Giselle with anger and amazement.

Diana helped her up and asked, "What is happening?"

Jennifer whispered, "Stay away from Giselle. She's gone mad. She just saw Ian kissing Hina and then she marched up to them and wrenched Hina away. "

Giselle looked wild-eyed, "Ian, what are you doing? I thought we had a thing going. I trusted you and look how I find you. With yet another girl. You are not worth being given a chance. You-you-"

"Giselle!" Ian said in a low voice. "Can we talk about this somewhere where we don't have an audience." He gestured around discreetly at the people in the restaurant who were looking at yet another piece of drama unfold in front of their eyes.

Hina stepped in between them, "Look Giselle, I don't really know what's happening but let me assure you we were just having dinner. Nothing serious, okay?"

"He's never serious," shouted Giselle, looking angrier by the minute. Her eyes looked extra bright and she blinked them, looking disappointed.

Diana lay a hand on Giselle's arm while giving Ian an angry look, "Giselle-"

Giselle shook off her hand, "No, tell me, Ian, don't you have anything to say?"

"You weren't talking to me. What was I supposed to do? Mope after you like lovebirds separated?" Ian replied, trying to look as if all this wasn't fazing him but failing badly.

"Love?" Giselle laughed. "Don't talk about love. It doesn't suit you. You don't love anybody but yourself, you selfish little…tell me, did you love me for even a second? Did you ever feel that we could be going somewhere?"

Ian stared at her and then letting out a sigh, looked away.

Giselle looked shocked. True, she had expected it but never had she expected the feeling that would come with the confirmation that Ian had never felt anything for her. She had told herself not to feel anything too. To be indifferent had been her aim but her demeanour had cracked but there was no way she was asking anybody to pick up the pieces.

Giselle blinked away tears that threatened to fall down her face any second now and gave a pursed smile, "As I thought." She pushed back her hair and looked around, "Sorry everybody. Fun is over. You can all get back to eating the lousy food here."

She was about to walk away when she caught sight of Hina who stepped back a little. Giselle swallowed and said in a dry voice, "What I did was… Oh leave it!"

She walked out of the restaurant trying her best to command her legs from running as they wanted to.

"You're stupid, Ian," Diana said, following Giselle.

"I feel so horrible," Hina said. "If I had known about Giselle, I would have never agreed to come. For her sake, I hope you realise what you have done."

Jennifer watched them go and smiled wickedly. Looked like the girls were going to win. She looked around for Bryan who gestured towards the entrance. Taking one last look at Spencer who was trying to start a conversation with Helen again, they left the restaurant, holding hands.

"What do you think will come out of this mess?" Jennifer asked.

Bryan shrugged, "I don't know. You're the writer, you tell me."

Jennifer looked up at the sky and smiled, "Yeah, love will manage to find them."
