Exorcism

So this story has been getting a lot of attention recently which is really good, thanks to all followers/favouriters But anyway on with the next chapter, I don't own Metro but I do own my characters.

I was shaken awake by Svetlana who had the fear of god in her eyes like she had seen a ghost. She just kept shaking me and asking me "Did you see it too?" Although while I looked around I couldn't see a lot, my vision was blurred and every time Svetlana opened her mouth I just flashed back to the creature with her mouth split wide open. I could only think of the creature's teeth like it had been consuming all manner of ungodly things.

I looked around as my vision finally came back into focus, I rolled my head across the floor and spotted Levii laid out as I was but her had been bleeding heavily from his abdomen and had the medics within the barracks dealing with his wound.

"What happened?" I asked Svetlana as I tried to sit up but couldn't.

"I don't know there were people and they attacked us and I….. I don't know they just hit and ran," She told me as I looked over to Levii who was bleeding heavily, the medics had placed him on a stretcher and were about to take him off. Svetlana placed one of my arms over my shoulder and tried to lift me but I was stuck on the floor, I felt a large amount of force come from my shoulders and I was hauled to my feet.

I rocked my head around and spotted the all too familiar coat, "Khan?" I asked out but was only met by a silver cross. I could feel something pulling around me like it was trying to get out, trying to destroy the cross. "What's happening?!" I shouted as I could feel myself drifting back into the darkness, the lights in the hallway started to flicker in an irregular pattern.

I could feel something pulling at my waist like a child on a parent's shirt; I looked down and saw the demented face of the creature. I did not want to think of it as Svetlana. It looked up at me with bleeding eyes, its finger bones still protruding from the ends of its hands and it simply said to me, "I'll be back for you, I'm always here." Just as it did the ground beneath it swallowed it whole. I was then thrown into the light.

When I came out the otherside of the light Khan caught me as my knees buckled beneath me and I let out a huge gasp of air. "What the hell was that?" I heard Svetlana yell as I tried to regain my balance which proved rather more difficult than I had anticipated. I fell onto one knee and placed my fist to the concrete floor. I could feel warmth coming from under my body armour and shirt; I reached up and found a pool of blood. I looked over to Khan who simply laid me back down and ripped everything off me, he then placed a large bandage on my stomach and allowed a medic to take over my care. I gripped Svetlana's hand as the medic raised me onto a stretcher and they carried me off.

Three hours later Levii and I were still being held in the hospital wing of the barracks, we were both on saline drips he was out cold but I was able to sit. Khan was with Millar I think they knew what had happened but were holding it from us.

Eventually Khan came and visited me in the hospital, Svetlana had been by my side the entire time, her hands were warm and she hadn't changed much since Novokuznetskaya, she had the same sense of humour and the same view of the world strangely.

When Khan approached us I spotted the sheet of paper he was holding, it looked official. He walked up to me and placed it in my hands. The red seal on the front of the paper had the embedded logo of the Spetznas in it, the deep burns from the stamp which had scarred the wax had large fragments of paint on the crevasses of the logo.

"It's from Denyamov, he personally requested I give you it," Khan told me as he made his way over to Levii.

"Denyamov?" Svetlana asked me as I took my knife and slashed the wax open, it was still liquefied on the inside.

"Da, my commanding officer," I told her as I unfolded the carefully creased paper, it had two deeply carved folds in the high quality parchment. As I unfolded the paper I could see the signature at the base which hadn't been stamped it had been caringly carved into the paper with a brass tipped fountain pen, again the thing had been so harshly pressed that the fragments of paint on the tip had flecked into the signature. They shined in the lights from the hospital mercury lamps.

"What does it say?" Svetlana asked.

"That I have been welcomed to the spetsnaz and am to report to him by three days' time along with Levii," I told her as I summarised the paper.

"You can't you've been injured," She outburst to me as lowered the paper looking at Levii who was still unconscious and had Khan by his side going through a similar ritual that had befallen me.

"I have to sestra," I said to her calmly almost whispering the words. I looked at the tears filling up in her eyes, "You see my pistol?" I asked her as I sifted myself upright and removed the pistol from my holster, "this was originally my grandfathers, then it was my fathers, now it's mine, I cannot let its legacy die in my pocket it must see battle."

"Do you realise how selfish you sound?" She exclaimed to me.

"Da, I do," I simply told her.

"Khuy tebe!" she then shouted at me flinging the chair she was sat on across the room and running from the hospital.

I could hear screams coming from Levii as he shook violently on the bed. I tried to reach out to him but I was too weak and simply slumped off the bed. A doctor picked me up and placed me on the bed, as he did I tried to call out to Levii but I couldn't I was losing everything. I could see Levii's head turn towards me, his eyes were rolled back pure white, and his face had deep scratches running across it. However after a few seconds I saw his eyes rolled back down showing off the dark brown eyes but the scratches stayed on his face.

"Are you back with us?" Khan asked him calmly still holding the cross loosely in-between his thumb and index finger.

"Da," Levii replied shaking his head up and down, he had fear stricken across his face. He didn't even display this much fear under first contact on the surface or when he was shot.

"Good," Khan told him as he shut the man's eyes, "spat', rebenok." As Khan spoke these words the room closed in on me and I fell back into darkness.

I awoke drowsily in the emergency room of the hospital, I had a large stitch heading along my lower stomach leading down towards and then over my hip. It had medical grade staples buried into my hip and stomach. Their steel felt cold against my skin but from the extent of the scabbing I must have been sewn up some hours ago.

"Ty prosnulsya?"A voice echoed through the intercom into the room I was laid out in, the blooded instruments still remained on the operating table next to me. As I laid looking around the room I heard a door open, the plastic buffers slammed and my bed was rolled straight out. I looked up at the nurse who was wheeling the bed around he face way covered by a face mask but her brown hair was still visible tied up behind her head, she had deep blue eyes and a small scar running across her forehead.

"Where am I?" I asked as she moved around my bed and eventually ended up looking at the drip I had attached to my bedpost.

"You are safe, you've been transferred here from Arbatskaya," The nurse paused for a few seconds, as she pressed a button on the wall and then continued speaking, "You're in Aleksandrovski Sad, still in Polis but in a proper hospital."

When she told me that I had not left Polis I relaxed and looked over to her, "Spasiba." I told her as I placed my head back on the pillow and tried to close my eyes. However as soon as I did the door at the far end of the ward smashed open and I heard boot heavy on the floor, running towards me.

I went into autopilot and jumped out of the bed grabbing at the saline drip which was inside my arm, pulling it out I pulled the needle off and held it in my hand like a dagger. I saw the uniform coming towards me I braced myself but as I did the figure collided with me. Their colossal arms flew to either side of me clamping me in place causing me to drop the needle.

"Brat, don't you recognise me?" The man asked me, his thick coat covered up his mouth so it sounded muffled but as they let go of me I saw the shaved head with a hashed scarred face which bore the eyes of a man I knew.

"Levii," I let out a sigh as he embraced me again.

"It's good to see you awake," He told me as he let me go. The release felt like a great load had been removed from my rib cage. Levii removed his coat placing it on the chair next to my bed and then sat me on the bed while the nurse, who was shaking from the ordeal, inserted a new IV.

"What happened to us?" I asked him as I heard two more sets of footsteps coming in through the door Levii had burst through.

"Maybe I can explain that, child," Khan's reassuring voice echoed across the ward but it was masked by the sound of heels clacking towards me with a greater and greater frequency.

"Khan, what the hell happened in the barracks?" A female voice echoed around the room, the heels slowed pace as the brown haired, red coat clad woman came around my bed and stood over Levii's shoulders.

"We were attacked, silently and deliberately," Khan told us all as he walked around my bed and placed his hand on my shoulder.

"By who?" I then asked him as I looked at the woman over Levii's shoulders and finally realised it was Svetlana.

"Ekaterina, can you leave us please," Khan asked the nurse as she finished plugging new needles into me.

"Certainly," The nurse responded, I couldn't see her mouth but I could see her cheeks were raised as if she was smiling. She left the room and closed the door behind her.

"Well Millar will not admit this as officially, Polis doesn't recognise their existence," Khan told me ominously, "they live in a secluded part of the Metro, in an area around a rumoured old military complex, no one can confirm or deny it." Khan then told me.

"But that doesn't answer my questions, who are they Khan?" I almost demanded of him.

"The call themselves the worshipers of the great worm," Khan told us as he sat on the bed with me, "I have been monitoring their movements through the metro, they have wandering enclaves all over the metro and one has been placed nearby, I personally believe they are responsible for the attack."

"Why them? They sound pretty primitive," Svetlana asked as Khan paused and looked across the group.

"Well they are, but they have recently been rumoured to get their hands on a form of tear gas used in the old soviet days," Kha told us causing Levii and I to laugh a bit.

"Tear gas doesn't normally send you mad," Levii laughed at Khan.

"I hadn't finished child, you need to learn to listen," Khan snapped at him, "The gas was first conceived by a scientist in 1937 just incase the Nazi's attacked the motherland, however before we got the chance to deploy the gas the motherland was struck too quickly, she was taken into the Fascist empire, beaten, raped and murdered. By the time of our counter attack in the winter 1942 the allies restricted the use of chemical weapons so we could not use the gas and as such it went into storage. We don't know where the gas was stored but obviously the cult found it," Khan then told us as he stood up and walked towards Levii and Svetlana.

"What do we do?" I asked him as he looked Levii in the eyes.

"First you two need to recover then we will scout the nearby enclave and see if they can lead us to their supply," Khan told me whilst still staring into Levii's eyes as if he was peering into his soul. Khan slowly raised his hand with a closed fist and left it at Levii's chest level, Levii held out his hand just underneath Khan's. As we all sat their waiting for a few seconds, Khan finally opened his hand dropping a small silver object into Levii's hand. When Levii looked down into his hand, he just turned white in face.

I hope you enjoyed the chapter it's quite long for me but hopefully it works, I am following my own plotline I think I can make it work but only time will tell. Anyway please feel free to review and tell me how I can improve the story and what you think of it until the next time …..PEACE!
