Came home from College at 4:00 yesterday. That makes 8 hours in College. Then I had to read a 30 page long lit. theory essay after which I was going to update. I fell asleep while reading it I was so tired. :'( :'(

I know that doesn't clear me for missing the New Year Update which I had planned but my family decided to take a vacation and I had awesome fun but there was NO WIFI and that meant I couldn't update. Came back 3 days ago.

And now, the much awaited update (I wish it could be longer and better but I can't keep you guys waiting)-

Chapter 26

Well, it goes like this. Judy approached me about a serum she had created for athletes and there was news of such an untested lethal drug in some circles so I asked the Government authorities to check on her but they didn't find anything. Then Romero asked me to track Judy as she was on the move and the authorities were still suspicious. Tala and I tracked her here and taking an archaeological internship seemed a good cover. We searched a factory last time but came up with no leads. Then we discovered that there might be an underground human trafficking chain which is using children to experiment on the drug. It was imperative for us to try and find it so, you understand why I had to leave. Time is running out. We have to find the base, since even tonight turned out to be a wild-goose chase, before they put the drug on the black market.

Kai wished he could explain this. All of it. But he couldn't so he sighed, "You're angry?"

"Worried? Yes. Angry? I don't know. Maybe I should be," Diana looked pissed. "Care to tell me what's been happening?"

"Quit being such a wife," Kai snapped.

Diana looked shocked, "I am your wife, Kai. What do you take me for?"

"Look," Kai ran a hand through his hair, "its not as if I disappear every night or something. I come home late once and find you looking as if I have done something wrong."

Maybe lying was supposed to make him feel better but looking at Diana's disappointed face right there he felt awful. Tala that traitor! He could have stayed and helped in explaining

Diana shook her head and tried to walk away but Kai stopped her, "I'm sorry you had to stay up late and I'm sorry for snapping at you."

Diana looked in Kai's eyes and debated whether to say it or not. She looked away, "I would have believed you are but that apology comes right after you tell me a lie."

"What are you talking about?" Kai asked hoping that she didn't know.

"Do you really want to go through this?" Diana asked, her face flushed. "Okay, you sneaked out a couple of nights ago too and I'm fine if you wanna go do whatever you do with Tala but maybe, tell me next time you feel like not coming home so that I don't have to wait in the dark and think about every horrible thing that could have happened to you!"

It was Kai's turn to be shocked now. She had known!? And still she hadn't said anything. How could he do this to a girl like her? He could well imagine being angry if the positions were exchanged. Hell, he had nearly chewed of Spencer's head when he hadn't turned up one day. In fact, he knew nobody would like it if their spouse goes missing every night now and then. A scary image of what Jennifer would do to Bryan sprung up in Kai's mind.

"Oh and don't even get me started on what happened after you disappeared. Ian tried to kill himself! Kai, there's only so much I can take-"

Kai looked at his wife's face and could see glimmers of tears in her eyes, tears she wouldn't let fall and right then he promised himself. This was his last job. No more spying and going undercover. He had thought that if he could hide his other life from Diana she would be safe but hiding things was not keeping them happy. He felt awful and he could see that Diana felt awful too.

"I wish I could tell you," Kai interrupted her and stroked her cheek, "but I don't know whether I can trust you with the stuff."

Diana looked at the man she loved and nodded, trying to control her anger. She opened the door and walked to the girls' suite.

Kai leaned against the closed door and wished that she had not looked so disappointed. Why couldn't she scream or hit him or tell him that she hated him?

I wish I could tell you but I don't know whether I can trust you with the stuff. Kai cursed himself. It had come out all wrong. He trusted Diana more than anyone in the world, he didn't trust the world and all its ugliness and dangers with someone like Diana who believed that there was only goodness out there.

Someone pushed the door and he moved away to let Tala in.

"You didn't tell her I hope," Tala asked coldly.

"I wish I had," Kai sighed.

"You did right. The lesser people know the safer they are."

I'm setting a weeklong deadline for the next chapter. Please, please look to my fb page for update/news because sometimes I wish I could tell you that there's gonna be a delay or something and I don't know how else.

NEXT CHAPTER should be about how DiKai take their fight to the next level-sulking!
