Holding Michael against her chest as she closed up her locker, Emily did her best to balance. She had just shoved three textbooks into her backpack, doing her best to move aside the diapers and baby bottles that she needed to carry around until she met up with the boy who had just the other day asked her to be his exclusive girlfriend.
But Aaron was sick today, and he was coming in just before her study hall to take them both home with him.
"Emily."
The teenager jumped at the voice, her dark eyes darting over to the blond head that popped up beside her locker. "Haley," she breathed, holding Michael with one hand to his back as she got her backpack on. "Hey."
"Hey," she grinned.
Emily slowly nodded her head, her tongue flicking over her bottom lip to moisten the chapped area. "Can I help you with something?"
The younger girl gave a small shrug before smiling down to the plastic toy. "Cute baby."
"Thank you," the rich girl said awkwardly.
Haley kept her eyes on the older girl as her lips stayed curved into that evil smile, her blond hair seeming to grow firey as the sun seeped in through the window.
"Ok," Emily exhaled, locking up her locker. "Well I have to go, so I'll see you around."
Haley stayed leaned against the cold metal doors as the brunette made her way to the end of the hall. "So if you and Aaron are busy one night, maybe I can babysit for you. You know, so you guys can have some alone time."
The brunette froze in her spot, her head tilting to the side as she spun around and looked to the blonde's back facing her a few feet away.
"Must be hard to be dating with a baby getting in the way all the time."
Emily laughed, making her way back to the younger girl and looking her straight in the eyes. "I'm sorry, do I hear jealousy in your voice?"
Haley crossed her arms over her chest. "I'm just saying, watch where you step."
"I'm so sorry that you have no life without your boyfriend," she chuckled, her brown eyes glaring into those blues of the blond before her. "He left you, get over it."
"He didn't want to be with you, you know."
Emily rolled her eyes. "He was my friend, we now have a baby together for a project and have found out that we like each other. What would you like me to do? Give up my boyfriend because you don't like that I'm with him?"
"Oh no," Haley dismissed. "You can stay with him for as long as you want. I just wanted to let you know that it'll probably be your last relationship in this high school when every other boy finds out what I know," the blond grinned evily.
"I'm sorry?" What was she talking about?
The blue eyed high schooler gave a shrug. "I guess you'll find out tomorrow."
Emily watched with wide eyes as the younger girl walked off, gulping as she held her baby boy tighter to her chest.
