Chapter 17: Education Isn't All That Educational
Authors Note: Man, been awhile since I wrote for this story. I've been really preoccupied with school projects, community service and other junk. I apologize for the inconvenient hold up. Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving and I hope you all have a very awesome Christmas. I love all of you, without you guys I wouldn't have the motivation to keep up with this story. So thank you very much. 3
I also have an update for the jaw surgery I'll be having. I was given an estimate of roughly having it scheduled in February. I may get an exact date next month when I get my braces tightened again. I'll surely be at home writing for this story when that time rolls around.
Also, can I just say how amazing this season has been so far? Like dear god, that song has been stuck in my head ever since it came on. I need more songs now though, like I'm going to die if I don't hear one next episode. On top of the fact that Power Ponies was an epic episode. :3 FLUTTERHULK SMAAAAASH! Fili-second is best Power Pony. (Totally not biased, totally not because Pinkie is my favorite) –NinjaDino4
Disclaimer- I don't own MLP. Only my story.
The night sky created a gloomy outcast across the city. Glistening from outer space was the stars, meanwhile the moon shone from behind a few wispy clouds.
Quietringing occurred which caused Emma to stir from her slumber. Her eyes lazily opened, the bright light from her phone blinding her when she hit the home button. She squinted as she read the time.
"Whhhhy? I just wanna go back to bed." She moaned grumpily before rolling out of bed. Her feet made a thump on the ground ever so slightly. The still silence swept over the entire house.
Emma tumbled down the hall, when it occurred to her what the day held. They had gone over every small detail as much as they could the day before. Talking was one thing, but having to actually preform the task was another.
Taking one step towards the guest room she opened the door and flipped on the lights instantly receiving groans in response to the wake up call. None of them were prepared to get up so early. The looks on their faces were covered in traces of nervousness. Well most of them that is.
All of the awoken groggy Equestrians gave a blink of the eye, but rolled over back to sleep regardless. If only they would've gone to bed much earlier none of this sleepiness would have affected them.
Emma let out a sigh. "Come on. Are you seriously gonna skip today?"
"Can we?" Rainbow remarked yanking the covers over her head pulling them away from Pinkie.
Pinkie Pie shivered as the cold air hit her body. "Don't hog the blanket, Dashie!" She exclaimed tugging the blanket in her direction.
"Do you two really find this the best time to fight?" Twilight complained covering her ears with her pillow.
"You can have mine if you want..." Fluttershy offered quietly being the polite one of the group.
Emma face palmed knowing full well they were going to try to put off their plans for today. She understood why they would, but it still had to be done. She couldn't have what happened last time to occur again.
There were no objections to it. Emma ripped the blankets from each one of them. "Up and at em. You've all gotta get dressed and get ready for it."
Rarity scratched her head giving everyone concerned looks. "Are you certain this is a good idea?"
"Well...no. But it can't hurt to try." Emma answered truthfully. There was without a doubt it was probably a stupid idea, but it never hurts to try something.

The sun was starting to barely peek through the horizon. Darkness was beginning to flush out from the little bit of light trying to muster past. Street lights were completely shut off due to the unnecessary lighting they would've provided.
A knock at the front door startled the nine of them. The table seemed to jump right off of the floor. They had all been sitting around lazily for the past half hour. The door opened on its own revealing who was behind it.
"Hey girls." Jaden stated walking inside only a few feet.
"Ahem." Spike coughed clearly offended by the statement.
Jaden shifted his eyes to the displeased dog shooting him a glare. "Oh right. Sorry, Spike. Wasn't calling you a girl, I'm just not used to you or Sweetie Belle being here yet." He paused for a moment mulling over a thought. "Speaking of them, what are they gonna do? Hell, where are they even gonna go?"
"...I didn't even think about that." Emma groaned feeling extremely idiotic. "I'm definitely not going to leave them here, that's for sure." She glared at the Mane Six who gave her nervous smiles in return. "Not after what went down before."
"What do you mean? What'd they do?" Sweetie Belle asked curiously.
"Let's just say they caused enough destruction that I don't think I'll ever trust them to be here alone." Emma replied sternly.
"Can't we just bring them with us and make up some excuse?" Rarity inquired.
"No, they can't come with us. They'll know they aren't supposed to be there. Maybe I can do something though." Emma reached in her pocket for her cellphone and dialed in the numbers.
"Yeah, I need a favor." She paused letting the person on the other end respond. "Just for today, for a few hours. Please." "I swear they won't be trouble." "Come on, I gotta go now!" "For reals? You'll do it? Awesome. Just hurry."
"Who was that?" Twilight questioned in curiosity.
"Just Jim. He's gonna watch these two while we're gone." Emma rested her eyes on the two new house guests. "Don't you dare cause any kind of trouble before he gets here."
Jaden caught sight of the clock on the wall. The time seemed just about right to leave if they were to get there on time. "We really gotta go. You all got your stuff?"
"Duuhhh. Of course we got everything!" Pinkie responded rather abruptly before bouncing towards the door.
"You behave yourself. We won't be gone for too long." Rarity told her little sister giving Sweetie a quick hug before she had to leave.
"You too, Spike." Twilight leaned in closer to where only the two could hear one another. "Keep a close eye on Sweetie Belle. Can you do that for me?"
"Sure thing! Don't worry about us. Have fun today!" The pint sized purple dog assured her. "You guys better hurry or you'll be late."
"Come on y'all. Times tickin." Applejack hollered holding the door open.
The bunch of them headed towards the front the house. It was either now or never. Preparation was taken into account, but it didn't help ease the nervousness floating in the air. They separated into two groups climbing into the two different vehicles. Jaden took Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie and Applejack while Emma took the other three. Rarity had refused to step foot in Jaden's truck, mostly because she had a line to draw on the way it would affect her first appearance at their destination. Everyone else seemed to be fine with whichever one they got.
/
The occasional bumps on the pavement made the truck jump up and down ever so slightly. Rainbow's face began to look subtly pale, the car ride did nothing to help only make it worse.
Jaden took notice to it, but wasn't sure if anything was truly wrong considering how she had been feeling the past day or so. Pinkie, of course wasn't so quiet when it came down to it.
"You don't look so good. Are you feeling alright?" Pinkie asked after poking Dash's face to get her attention.
Rainbow rolled her eyes and proceeded to grind her teeth. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just car sick." She rested her head on the window hoping to at least get some shut eye for the rest of the ride.
"Okaaaay then. Guess she's not in the mood." Jaden looked on toward the road knowing they were only a few minutes or so from their destination.
They all kept quiet until the massive building appeared in plain sight.
"Woaaah nelly. There sure is a lot of people here." Applejack noted with a whistle for even more effect.
Jaden pulled into an available parking space. Emma's sports car pulled into one next to him.
He turned off the truck and grabbed his bag from Pinkie who had been holding onto it during the drive. Applejack and Pinkie Pie hopped out of the truck. They jumped up on the tailgate, reaching for the wheelchair.
Jaden gently shook Rainbow to wake her up. Opening one of her eyes she gave him a frown.
"You ready?" He asked reached over Dash to open her door.
"As I'll ever be." Rainbow mumbled taking her bag in one hand. Applejack and Pinkie both grabbed her body guiding it into the chair safely.
Emma along with the other three former ponies joined the four by Jaden's truck.
"Do you think it's too late to go home?" Fluttershy quietly stated her voice full of fear and anxiety.
"Darling, you'll be fine. Pinkie Pie and I will be with you." Rarity assured her anxious friend, Pinkie giving a reassuring smile as well.
Emma elbowed Rarity upon hearing the forbidden names being used in public.
"What was that about?" Rarity scoffed taken back by the rude action. Emma gave her a look pointing to the countless teenagers walking around the building. "Oh…right. I mean Phoebe."
"You all really need to be careful. Remember, don't blow your cover. Act like you're just normal people with normal names. Don't use your real names. Use your fake ones." Emma warned them. "Just act natural. For the love of God, don't mention your home world."
Their eyes shifted towards Pinkie who gave a rather shocked look at the accusation pinned on her.
"Do you really think I'm gonna accidentally tell someone?" Pinkie gasped receiving dead looks in response.
"Are ya really askin us that?" Applejack replied.
/
The eight passed by multiple teens as they headed toward the structure towering over them. At the entrance the words Stacey Ann High School were neatly painted on the wall in big letters. When they opened the doors the overwhelming amount of people took the new six students by surprise. Chaos was found everywhere in the hallways, there was hardly any space of peace visible.
"I can't help shake the feeling were being watched." Twilight said uncomfortably glancing at the dozens of eyes glued on them as they passed by.
"You don't say." Rainbow replied sarcastically. "The second we came in here they've been like this."
"Don't they have somethin better ta do? Applejack rolled her eyes displeased with their unsubtle appearance.
Whispers and occasional pointing started to happen more often with each passing moment. It was quite the sight; no one could keep their attention away from the group of eight.
"The bell should ring right about-" Emma had become a genius at getting the time down as if one cue the bell rang. "Now."
"Pre-Cal is that room over there, good luck girls." Jaden pointed out to Pinkie, Rarity and Fluttershy.
"You're with me, Taylor." Emma motioned Twilight to follow her. Before long the two were out of sight leaving the three by themselves.
/
"So all we do is lift weights for a grade? That's it?" Applejack questioned as they approached the weight room.
"Basically. We'll just see how you do with a bunch of guys around." Jaden stated cockily entering the weight lifting room with the two girls.
Upon arrival to the class they were met with multiple guys, one being a middle aged man with a blue whistle hanging around his neck attached to a piece of crappy old string.
The scruffy man approached the three eyeing Rainbow and Applejack specifically.
"This some kind of joke? What's these two girls doin here, son?" The coach spat our particularly snarky.
"Excuse me?" Rainbow Dash and Applejack said in unison extremely offended.
"Who are you calling a joke?" Rainbow growled becoming even more fired up.
"Who do ya think, cripple?" He responded rather nonchalantly. The dozen of boys setting out the equipment had faces filled with shock, amusement and slight fear for what the two extremely pissed off girls were going to do.
Applejack shoved her finger against the man's chest, lifting her head up to be eye to eye with him. "Now listen here. Don't ya ever talk to mah friend like that again or I'll buck you straight through a wall. Got it?"
"You've got the strength for that? Well then show me. Prove me you aren't completely useless." He remarked without batting an eyelash. "As for wheelchair over here, better show me you've got at least some arm strength. Until then, yall aint nothin to me."
The teacher left at that word back to his office. He could still see everything in the room, but the volume was completely muted from the inside.
"Who the hay does he think he is?!" Rainbow clenched her fists in anger.
"Sorry about that, Coach Wilkins can be a huge jerk. No girls ever take this class since he's a little sexist." Jaden explained pushing Dash over to a spot near the small weights.
"A little? That's an understatement." Applejack said as she laid down on a small table that had a huge weight attached to it.
"I know, but you both are gonna be fine. Just prove yourself and I'm sure he won't be a douchebag." Jaden assured them before walking over to a leg weight machine on the other side of the room.
Applejack had been so steamed from the insults she started to do hundreds of reps showing up every single person in the class. The coach had his eye on her every so often. Rainbow Dash on the other hand had been slightly more bored and unaware of the constant stares being thrown at her. Her performance was nowhere near AJ's level; the coach noticed her poor skills in dedication.
Dash slumped on her free arm while she mindlessly lifted a weight. One of the boys unnoticeably worked his way over to her seeing as she was the only one not too occupied in working out.
"So…You're that girl that was on the news right?" The boy asked.
Rainbow stopped pumping the iron turning her head slightly in his direction. "Yeah."
"Were you awake while it happened?" He questioned.
"Yeah."
"Is that all you're going to say?"
"Yeah." Rainbow rolled her eyes setting the weight on the floor. "I don't really want to talk about it."
He paused for a moment, thinking of what to say. "Sorry, should've known it was a sensitive topic. Anyways, the name's Hunter. And your?…"
Dash sat for a few seconds raking through her brain trying desperately to remember her fake name. "Uh…it's…it's Rebeka. Yeah, Rebeka."
"So Rebeka, where'd you come from? Haven't seen you at school before." Hunter asked.
"Um somewhere really far away. I'd rather not say." She stuttered. There was no way she could pull off a lie considering she had absolutely no idea what any places were called on Earth.
"Quite the mysterious girl. Alright, what about your hair?" He questioned taking a piece of her locks in his hand. "How'd you get it this awesome? I mean the colors are so bright and bold yet really clean looking."
"My hair? What about it?" She asked in confusion.
"What did you dye it with? I'd love to do something like this in the summer or something."
"I didn't dye it?" She answered back.
"Of course you did, there's no way this is natural. Plus your eyes, they look so real. It just looks like you're not wearing contacts." Hunter peered into her magenta eyes looking for the slightest outline of contacts.
"It's a rare disease." Rainbow blurted without hesitation. Hunter scooted over upon hearing the word. "It's not contagious though. So don't worry about catching it."
Coach Wilkins opened the door of his office and stuck his head out of the door way. "Stop flirting and start pumping some iron you two!"
/
"How was weight lifting, Rebeka?" Emma asked as they took seats in Physics.
"Great. Just great. I really loved our teacher. He was the best." She replied with the most forced smile.
"Really?" Rarity questioned observing the small tick coming from Dash's left.
"No. He was a big fat jerk! AJ looked like she was gonna beat him to the ground the entire time." Rainbow exclaimed with fire in her eyes.
"First day and you already start it off bad?" Twilight stated with worry.
"Not really. Just a bad teacher, that's all." Rainbow twiddled her pencil around on the table while the substitute lectured them on some work that seemed gibberish to her. "Do any of you understand a single word coming from her mouth?"
"This is actually really simple, if you paid more attention listening to her than playing with your pencil you'd probably understand." Emma responded scribbling down a few notes to which she looked at Twilight from the corner of her eye. Twilight's handwriting was awful, basically unreadable, but she left it alone.
"Perhaps we aren't the best combination for this class." Rarity whispered to Rainbow. "Cause all I've heard so far today is nonsense."
"Is Pre-Cal really all that bad?" Dash whispered back.
"Imagine this, but with numbers. Lots and lots of numbers. Letters and numbers. It made no sense to me. The teacher, Miss Hollenbeck, said pi once as in the symbol. Pi-Phoebe almost jumped out of her desk thinking there was actually pie in the room." Rarity face palmed explaining it.
"What about…Flora? She was fine, right?" Dash asked.
"The poor girl was so nervous. She didn't say much, kept to herself. You wouldn't believe the amount of stares we got. It was a bit unsettling."
"You mean like now?" Rainbow turned around to find most of the classroom staring at the three newcomers.
"Is it going to be like this everywhere? I regret what happened when we were left at the house alone, maybe she would trust us if we didn't break that window."
"Too late for that. Now we're stuck here listening to some chick preach to us about arrows." Rainbow huffed. "How do people put up with being here all day?"
/
"Finally! Lunch! I've been waiting for like forever for food!" Pinkie hopped down the hallway in glee.
"Ah'm just glad we get a break from all this learnin. Now ah really miss workin on the farm." Applejack sighed pushing her way through a bunch of kids.
"I'm just surprised we haven't run into that dem-" Rainbow flew forward off her wheelchair after something bumped into it. That something being the very thing she was talking about. Nailing into the ground she caught a small glimpse of wedge heels and demon horns. In other words, she caught a glimpse of Jennifer walking off like the pathetic witch she is.
"Holy crap! Are you okay!?" Jaden ran up to her as quickly as he could.
"I'm fine, but I think you should be more concerned about that buckin skank." Dash gritted her teeth pushing herself off the ground standing on both legs. Instant pain went to her injury, but she didn't care. She was pissed, she was infuriated.
"Don't do anything stupid. You could get in serious trouble." Emma said completely dumbfounded that Rainbow managed to stand up.
Rainbow grabbed Pinkie's arm as they entered the lunch room. She took Pinkie Pie's bag and rummaged through it.
"What are you looking for, Dashie?" Pinkie questioned happily despite the intrusion of privacy happening to her.
"Cake. Which I just found." Rainbow smiled with an evil glint in her eye.
When they took a seat Dash scanned the cafeteria until her view landed on Jennifer. With the cake in hand she made sure there was nobody paying any attention to her. It was the first time people actually minded their own business all day.
"She'll never know this is even coming." Rainbow mumbled before throwing the piece of cake across the lunch room. It rocketed towards Jennifer until hitting her right in the head.
Emma, Jaden and the rest of the mane six all turned around instantly. The sound of screaming overtook the room. Everyone stopped what they were doing to watch as the spoiled mean girl wailed in horror covered in dessert.
"Why cake? Of all things, why cake?" Twilight questioned, the others awaited Rainbow's response.
"Because Phoebe did say the only thing that should be rubbed in somebody's face is chocolate cake." Rainbow replied as she began to lose it. She was laughing so hard she couldn't breathe. Taking in her explanation the others began to crack up, the laughter spread like wildfire.
/
The last bell of the day rang indicating the ending to the worst hours of every teenager's life. Students exited the building like a herd. Tons of teens headed home after a long day of learning boring and irrelevant topics.
"I'm telling you I can walk just fine." Rainbow complained as Jaden pushed her wheelchair down the ramp.
"That limp you had walking down the hall in a rage said otherwise." He replied continuing to the parking lot.
"You really shouldn't push yourself. You could end up hurting your leg even more if you don't let it heal." Fluttershy said worriedly.
Emma stopped in her tracks as she caught sight of a woman approaching her. The woman wasn't particularly well groomed. She looked like a train wreck; her hair was unkempt and her clothes rather ratty.
"What's up?" Twilight noticed the look on Emma's face. A look of pure confusion, anger and sadness.
Emma mumbled words barely understandable to anyone. "Mo-mom?" She whispered in disturbance.
"Mom?!" The seven exclaimed in unison.
So yeah, again I'm sorry for the month hiatus. I really don't want to be that person that keeps you all waiting for like forever. I know that feeling when a person takes a while to update. Also, in case you were curious. Which you probably weren't, but whatevz. I named the High School after my aunt who passed away on Cinco de Mayo. She made some bad choices that ended up taking her life, but she was a great person who was sadly abandoned by most of her family and didn't get the help she needed because of it. I still miss her so much and love her dearly, it felt appropriate to somehow tie her in. Dang, I've noticed I end up making Rainbow get hurt so much. Like I torture her and she falls and all sorts of crap. I guess she's just my pawn. *insert insane mane-iac laugh*
