AN: And here is another update you gorgeous devils. ;)
This chapter is dedicated to one of my best friends, cityofdivergentstars (Ceili) who's moving and leaving me and our friends tomorrow.
This stupid thot.
I love her to pieces though and you should really go read her FanFiction.
Love you girlie.
The whole encounter leaves Jace with a heartbroken look on his face. I rub his arm comfortingly, about to open my mouth to speak to him. He shakes his head, already anticipating my move and bites his lip dejectedly.
I sigh, quickly and irritatedly. I must have a word with the girls.
"Charlotte Emma Herondale and Jordyn Christina Herondale! Get your butts down here right this minute!" I yell, my hands cupped around my mouth to louden the noise.
I can hear them both groan as the click of boots echo throughout the house. I tap my foot impatiently, glaring at the pair of heavy black boots walking down the stairs. Finally, her eyes reach mine and they narrow.
"What is it?" Her voice sounds bored and she's picking absent-mindlessly at her cuticles. The patter of someone else's feet take her attention away from her fingers. My daughter looks behind her, only to find her sister, eyes closed, and bottom lip between her teeth.
"Mom?" She says, eerily calm.
"I need to talk to you girls about your father."
As soon as I finish, Jordyn's face turns a shade of angry red.
"What is there to talk about?" She breathes between her teeth.
"The fact that you guys' grades are dropping isn't a funny matter," I begin, slowly and calmly.
"So what does this have to do with him?" Charlie juts her chin towards her father. He looks her straight in the eye, holding her gaze until she drops it, annoyed.
"Well," I wring my hands. "Because I get migraines easily and have to sleep a lot, your father is going to help you with your homework."
Charlie's mouth drops open in indigence.
Jordyn's mouth is open, ready to protest.
"But Mom-"
I hold my hand up and cut her off.
"Sweetheart, I'm not saying that you have to forgive him," I say carefully. "Just let him help you. Both of you are very smart girls and we all realize that. All you need is a little help along the way, alright?"
"Yes, Mom," they mumble.
"Any questions?"
Charlotte's hand shoots up and I sigh.
"Charlie?"
She half-smiles.
"Is he moving back in with us?"
I open my mouth to answer but then draw up to a blank.
That's the real question though. Is Jace going to move back in? I'm not sure that the girls are quite ready for that so I look to Jace, silently asking for some help.
His molten gold eyes meet mine and I take a deep breath. Jace clears his throat and licks his lips.
"I'd very much like to move back in with you guys," his deep voice resounds through the atrium. "But I'm not sure that you guys are quite ready for that yet. So it's your call. It'd be easier for me to help you guys if I moved back in." His eyes meet theirs and I can see a ghost of a smile on Charlotte's face.
"Sure. Why not?" She giggles. On the other hand, Jordyn doesn't look just as happy as her twin sister does. In fact, she's scowling. Scowling more fiercely than I've ever seen her scowl before.
Charlie runs into her father's open arms and Jordyn just shakes her head. She closes her eyes, smiles a very sarcastic smile, and walks upstairs. Jace's eyes follow her movements. He seems... saddened all of a sudden.
-Isabelle's P.O.V-
I twirl Emma around, her brown hair flying around her as she giggles. I kiss her head.
"Okay, honey, I've got to go see Auntie Clary, alright?"
"Okay, Momma. See you later then?"
I nod my head, grinning.
"Bye, Simon!" I call out, grabbing my car keys.
"Bye, baby!" He yells back. I smile to myself and blow a kiss to him that he can't see.
I climb into my car, shutting the door behind me. All of a sudden, my phone starts ringing. Not even bothering to check who it is, I pick up.
"Hello?" I sing happily into the phone, clumsily stuffing my keys into the ignition.
"Izzy?" a familiar voice speaks over the phone.
"Clare!" I squeal. I can practically see her wince.
"Hey, Isabelle. Look, you've got to come over. We have a, er, a little situation with Jordyn."
My maternal instinct sparks up immediately.
"What's wrong with her? She's not cutting, is she?"
Clary stays quiet.
"Oh no, Clare," I groan, backing out of the driveway. "Don't tell me she is."
"She might be close. She hasn't come out of her room in the past 3 days. It's scaring us."
"Us?" I raise an eyebrow while speeding down the road.
She seems to hesitate before answering. Clary sighs before speaking again.
"Us as in Charlie, Jace, and myself."
"Wait, wait, wait, hold up." I paused at a red traffic light, taking deep breaths. "Did you just say Jace?"
"Yeah."
"Well no wonder Jordyn's having problems," I chuckle. "I'd hate you too."
"Shut up," she groans. "You're not making this any better, Iz."
"That's not what I do, Clare," I smirk. "I'm your counselor. I give it to him straight my dear friend."
"Sometimes I wish you wouldn't," she murmurs.
I laugh, turning a right.
"Yeah, but then I wouldn't be your best friend, stupid," I grin.
She laughs heartily.
"I guess so. But, seriously, come over. We're scared."
"On my way. And, if you don't mind, I'll be having words with that brother of mine, sweetheart. Oh no, we will be having words."
Clary guffaws in such a contagious way that I start laughing too.
"Okay, sweet friend of mine," she sighs. "I'll talk to you later. Bye, girlie."
"Bye, sweet cheeks." I laugh before hanging up and placing my phone on the dashboard.
No, my brother and I will have some serious words.
AN: Bye guys. Expect another update sometime next week.
Love you people,
