Chapter 3

...

Well last night was eventful.

Though I've gotta admit, Mike handled the animatronics better than I thought. Even if the only one active was Bonnie, I still give the kid credit.

It's only 6:20 when I get back home.

My dinky little apartment was on the third floor. There was about eight stories to the building so I was lucky enough to snag one closer to the ground floor.

I parked my Station Wagon in the community garage and sped up to my place.

My eyes lingered from one side of the apartment to the other. I'm greeted by silence. I sigh and grab something quick to eat before heading into the bathroom. I spot the razor blade I had hastily left on the counter. It had dry blood on it. My blood.

I advert my attention on getting into the shower.

As I walk in the shower, I'm immediately greeted by a flow of nice warm water. I smile. 'Maybe today won't be such a bad day...'.

I wet my hair and brushed my fingers through it.

Haven't had a rush of panic like last night in a long time...six years, probably? It may not seem a long time, but it is to me. There's still one thing that blow my mind.

How is Mike even surviving?

I mean, I remember when I started the night shift.

I was a scrawny kid. My hair was always a mess, not to mention how scared I got of my own shadow. Looking back on it now, I can't help but think what would have happened if I hadn't left after the sixth night...I probably wouldn't have survived. Fred had told me that there would only be five nights that I'd have to show my skills.

So what did I do? I made a little game out of it.

I called it, "Five Nights at Freddys" ((roll credits)).

When the sixth night rolled around, I could barley make it. I felt as if I had lost my mind.

It's in the past now.

All in the past.

...

I was on lunch break when Fred had leisurely strolled over to me. "So, Jeremy," He began whilst shoving his hands in his pants pockets; rocking on the balls of his feet. I was in my station wagon. My stare was blank as I looked ahead through the windshield. "So?" My eyebrow twitched as I muttered without emotion.

Fred merely sighed. "Show me your wrists, son."

I set my lips in a straight line. "I'd rather not." My hands instinctively clutch the ends of my blue button down shirt.

"Jeremy Fitzgerald." Fred was getting agitated. His southern draw was laced with concern. He was never a violent man, not in the slightest, but you never wanted to get him in a full blown rage.

"Fred-"

Before I could even utter a word of my bargain, I felt my wrists being torn from my lap. "No, WAIT!"

Too late.

Fred rolled up my sleeves to my elbows. He was beyond dissatisfied at what he saw.

"Jeremy," His voice was too calm. I cringed.

I loved Fred. Even if he were just my step father. But I hated seeing the look of disappointment grace his usually cheerful chubby features.

It was times like this where I wish I could just curl myself up into an invisible shield.

"...I-I'm-" I wanted to say 'sorry' more than anything. I couldn't bring myself to do so.

Fred, after what seemed like an eternity, slowly rolled my sleeves back down and sighed. "Jeremy, you're gonna kill yourself."

I said nothing. My stare was stuck on the withering floorboard beneath my feet.

"Now, son. I've warned ya time 'n time again not to do this sort of thing. Why do ya keep on doin' it?"

I had no answer. Well, besides the fact that after my life changing week, I became desperate for answers. Each time I thought I had the puzzle solved, something else popped up. Anxiety was slowly building up in the pit of my stomach whenever I came up empty. I always lost...even when I won I lost.

Fred gave me a look of sympathy. "Breaks almost over, son. Might wanna think 'bout headin' back inside." With that, he left me alone.

I gathered my thoughts and took a deep breath. "Back to work I go..."

...

Nightfall.

My favorite time of the day! Ow. I think I'm hurting myself with the sarcasm...

I hear the doors open. Not a second later, Mike comes walking through the door with his own camera. I think I saw it with him last night. I then remembered that he loved making videos of everything he did for some reason...I haven't the slightest clue why though.

"Good evening, everyone!"

My mind spaced out when he began talking. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed that Chica had her head turned towards us. I sent a mere snarl in her direction. She looked away.

Bitch.

"Well, I'd best be headin' home. You two have a good night."

We nodded towards Fred. "Night".

When he left, I had grown very curious about why Mike had a semi large camera hanging from his side.

"What's that for?" I gestured to the camera.

Mike had the faintest shade of pink brushed lightly on his cheeks. "W-why is that important, heh, heh..." He chuckled nervously. Geez, what did he have, porn?

"...It's not porn, I swear!" He suddenly blurted out.

I laughed. "Ha. Good one, Mike."

We seemed to have a recurring pattern where we'd just stand around and stare awkwardly at one another. It started to get a little annoying.

"They're, uh, recordings."

"Huh?"

"I, uh, said that they're recordings...you know, of me doing stuff...I like to keep track of what happens in my life." He explained sheepishly.

He must be photogenic.

"Oh." Was all I responded with.

Mike looked a little defeated at this. He forced a smile and nodded. "Well, it's almost time to start night two."

I looked at the clock. "You're right. It's 11:30...you gonna be alright?"

Mike simply nodded yes.

Smiling, I reached behind me to grab the door handle. "Welp, I wish you the best of luck tonight, Mike. But tomorrow night and beyond I'd be the most cautious. Freddy likes to linger off stage from night three...so be careful..."

Hopefully he'd be smart enough to take my warnings into consideration.

We bid one another goodbye.

He should be fine...I'm more interested in what he records...

...

Well, so ends yet another chapter...Hope everyone liked this dull chapter! Things get more intense in the next few chapters though, so good thing for that!

Also, if you read any of my AU on my TUMBLR, then you'd know that Markiplier would be Mike Schmidt and MatPat (Game Theory) would be Jeremy Fitzgerald, just because I can :p THANK YOU GUYS FOR READING!
