Veala and Goten were surprised to say the least when they happened upon the other royals in the woods. They weren't exactly where Amy had said they would be, because they were out looking for Veala and Trunks. Goten and Veala had flown straight from the castle to where they were now. Where were they? They were in the middle of the forest. Veala had been silent the entire time because she was too angry and upset to say anything. When they had gotten close to where Amy had told them they needed to be they lowered their power levels and walked quietly through the leaves on the ground. They both jumped as two voices were heard in the distance. Goten grabbed her and instinctively put himself between her and the voices.
"Princess!" Ren and Lee ran over to her and they both bowed, "Are you alright?" they spoke in unison and then turned and glared at each other as if this was a competition. Goten relaxed a little, but not completely and he slipped behind her, keeping a hand on her waist to make sure everyone knew she was his.
"I'm fine…" she mumbled quietly and looked around to see who she had at her disposal to use and who was there to help her. Who was there to help her win her kingdom and most importantly her brother back? She was getting desperate.
Jewls, Kri, Delvi, Ren, Obi, and Lee were all there. How the hell had they all made it out, but not Trunks and Amy? Trunks was far stronger than any of these idiots and Amy was too intelligent to get captured like she was. Veala's mind was racing and she thought it was going to explode until Goten put a hand on her arm to comfort her. His grip on her tightened a little to let her know it was going to be alright.
She looked up at him and smiled a little in gratitude. He always knew what to do to make her feel better. The forest was getting darker as the sun was setting. And she could just barely make out everyone's faces. As the warm and bright sun slowly set, the tension of the situation seemed to hit everyone harder than ever before. Ren and Lee weren't arguing or glaring at each other anymore. And the girls had been silent since Veala and Goten found them. They all turned their heads towards Veala, like she was supposed to have all the answers. They looked at her and didn't say a word. They all just waited with a somewhat expectant look on their faces.
Veala looked around and shrunk back a little under the pressure. She was shorter than all of them. She felt like they were all looking down on her and that she was going to die if someone didn't say something soon.
It was quiet.
It was eerily quiet.
Veala needed to lead them. She needed to speak. Then why couldn't she seem to find her voice? What was she afraid of? There was nothing for her to fear…right?
Was she afraid to fail? Probably. She always had Trunks with her to help her and make sure she knew what she was doing.
"Goten…" she whispered his name hoping that he'd understand what was going on in her head.
"Veala you can do this," she heard him say into her ear as quietly as he could. She felt shivers run up her spine at the fierceness of his voice. He sounded so sure. Like he knew for a fact that she could do whatever she wanted or needed to do. He was holding her close to him and she felt his grip tighten gently to let her know that she could do this and that he was right there next to her.
She nodded slightly and cleared her throat.
"We need to make a plan. Amy and Trunks are still in the castle. We need to get in there and get them out," She said, her voice was still and quiet, but demanding and absolute at the same time.
"We also need to take back the castle and kingdom. No pressure here everyone," Jewls rolled her eyes slightly and put a hand on her hip.
"Once we get Trunks and Amy we'll have all the brains we need to figure out the rest of this plan…but without them we can't win," Goten was trying to help Veala out so he voiced his opinion.
"Who the hell are you to tell us what to do?" Ren asked and glared at him, "You're just a soldier, nothing special. Not royalty, not even a good fighter! Why should we listen to you?"
Goten glared back at him, but didn't have a good comeback for him.
"That's enough," Veala was shaking in anger and her eyes were flickering from their usual dark blue to a bright and glowing light blue. Her fists were clenched and her steady, but fierce gaze was directed right at Ren
"Goten is a better soldier, friend, and person than you could ever dream to be," her voice was seemingly calm, but her anger could be felt by anyone who was in a ten mile radius of her.
"You will listen to him, because I trust him with my life, and because he knows what he's doing, is that understood?" she looked around at everyone, but they were all too in shock from her eyes and hair flickering colors and her energy spiking to say anything.
Goten blinked a few times and then opened his mouth to speak, but closed it again because he wasn't sure what to say after that.
"Am I understood?" Veala asked again expecting an answer this time as she took a step closer to Ren.
He stepped back once and then looked from her to Goten. After a second he responded
"Yes, Princess," everyone knew he wasn't happy about this, but he wasn't going to argue anymore.
"Good. Now this is what is going to happen. We need to work together if we're going to get through this alive," Veala took a deep breath and looked around at everyone.
"Jewls and Ren," they both looked at her as she continued, "you two along with Goten will be our muscle. You three are the strongest out of this group," They both nodded and Ren smirked at Jewls over his shoulder at this new order. She glared at him and didn't say anything.
"Lee and Delvi," She turned towards these two and said, "You two, along with myself, will be in charge of our strategy and figuring out exactly what our fighters are going to be doing. We're faster than these three with the strength, so we'll go with them to fight as well," she watched as they nodded and bowed slightly to her
"Obi and Kri," she looked over to the last two in the group, "You will be our scouts and tell us if we're getting into trouble. You'll be out of the direct fight but I think you're both going to be fine with that, am I wrong?" they both looked very relieved and shook their heads at her. They smiled at each other shyly before looking back to Veala who continued to speak
"We don't have a lot of time. My parents are going to be back in less than two days, and knowing this enemy they're waiting for it…they aren't done just yet. I don't know what he has planned, but we can't let it happen, okay?" She let all that information sink into their brains and then turned to Goten who was just standing there with a slight smile, that goofy smile that always melted her heart.
"See?" he said and chuckled slightly as she stuck her tongue out at him "I told you, you could do it," he grabbed her arms and pulled her to him. He was very affectionate and in that moment she didn't care in the slightest.
"Let's hope that we can come up with a plan that works…" she said into him and closed her eyes for just a second. They were going to have to think and move quickly.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
It was dark outside. As if the light knew that something wasn't right and it was hiding. It was hiding from the evil that was currently inside the castle. It was all so wrong.
Zale was walking through the halls of the castle that but hours ago had been his prison. He was second in command of his father's army. And he wasn't planning on giving that up any time soon. He was promised he'd be getting the entire planet if he helped his father beat the royal family. He turned the corner of the dark corridor and stopped in his tracks as his father appeared before him.
"Zale, stop for a moment will you," it was an order, not a suggestion and they both knew it.
Zale cursed in his mind and swiftly bowed to his father before asking
"What is it that you need father?" he asked and looked directly into his eyes
His father's eyes always held evil in them and Zale couldn't help but wonder what exactly happened to make him that way. They weren't exactly the closest father and son in the universe.
"The Prince took the bait and has transformed. I have him contained at the moment, because of the mental hold I already had on him. I'm putting all these scenarios into his head to keep him super Saiyan. He has enough power to keep the soldiers running for a long time. Our little Amy doesn't have a clue that her Prince is being tortured with her being beaten in front of his eyes again and again," Yamcha Jr. laughed a little to himself and then looked at his son with a smirk.
Zale knew of his father's plan to harness the energy of the legendary super saiyan long before anyone else did. And he also knew of the power his father had over people's minds once he got inside. Poor Trunks. He wasn't going to last very long.
"I need you to go out and find Veala. Once we have her here and her mind under my control, there is no possible way that Vegeta and Bulma can win. Their kids are better at this whole war thing than they are!"
Zale glared slightly at his father, but it was only a fraction of a second. He had actually started to enjoy spending time with Trunks and Veala before his father had ordered him to make her sick. He was quite the little actor, all his life he had been told these people were horrible. But they hadn't been that bad. He knew that he had his orders, however. And he knew the punishment if he didn't follow through.
"Yes, sir. I'll find her quickly." Zale said and bowed once more, he turned to walk away but his father continued to speak
"Don't fail me, or you'll regret it," Zale didn't bother looking over his shoulder. He knew his father was gone. And his threat hung heavy in the air as Zale walked down the hall. He grabbed the two closest guards he could find and said
"You two are coming with me. We're going to find Princess Veala. And kill everyone else,"
"Yes sir!" the guards bowed and then hurried to keep up with him.
Zale's eyes guarded his emotions as they walked outside of the castle. He wasn't sure if what he was doing was what he wanted or if he was doing it out of fear that if he didn't follow orders he'd be punished. Either way he was going to follow through with this. He wanted his kingdom. He wanted to rule and have power. And if that meant beating up a little girl, then so be it.
He smirked slightly to himself as they flew off and began their search. He was so close.
So close.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Tarble didn't know what he was thinking. He was watching Bulma work in her lab on the ship, and he knew that if Vegeta caught him that he'd get beaten up. But he couldn't tear his eyes away. He thought she was perfect.
He shook his head and sighed in exasperation.
"Hello?" Bulma looked around as she heard a sigh and Tarble covered his mouth. Apparently he wasn't as quiet as he would have liked to think he was.
"U-Uh hello Bulma…" Tarble walked into the room and smiled at her sheepishly.
"Oh, Tarble! Hello!" She smiled at him brightly not even knowing that she was making his heart beat ten times faster, or that she was making his stomach do flips
"What're you up to? Shouldn't you be training?" she asked him as she continued with her project she was working on. She didn't even look back at him again. She just kept working
"Well I was training, but Goku needed to get something to eat so we're taking a break," Tarble said and sat down on the chair opposite her to watch her tinker.
His eyes went from her face to her hands and he watched as she worked. He couldn't keep his eyes off of her.
She wasn't like all the others.
She didn't treat him like he didn't belonged. She didn't make him feel inadequate or belittle him. And above all else she didn't judge him because of his past. She thought of him as family when his own brother didn't even take a second look at him. And he was falling for the blue haired saiyan. This wasn't going to end well and he knew it so he kept his mouth shut. He just watched. He just watched and let his heart break more and more. He had no right to even think about her.
Just as he was about to get up and walk out of the room his older brother appeared at the window and Tarble felt the shiver of fear that went down his spine at the glare he was being given. Vegeta didn't enter the lab; he just motioned with his hand that Tarble was supposed to meet him outside.
Tarble didn't want to.
He didn't want to go and get yelled at. Every cell in his body told him no. They were all screaming it at him. Don't go get beat up by your brother! But he knew better and got up to follow Vegeta to the training room. It'd only get worse if he didn't obey.
"I'll see you later Bulma," he said and smiled at her as she looked up at him. She nodded and went back to her work
"Bye Tarble,"
The younger prince followed his older brother and king to the nearest training room and braced himself for a verbal attack. But Vegeta didn't say anything. Instead he walked over to Tarble and looked him up and down, then circled around him and let out a breath.
"You do know that if you keep looking at my mate like you've been doing I'm going to have to kill you, right?" Vegeta all but growled at his younger brother.
Tarble nodded slightly and looked down.
"I'm not looking at her differently than I look at anyone else… am I?"
Vegeta scoffed
"You're an idiot as always Tarble. I can see you falling for her. She's mine alright? So back off!"
Tarble put his hands up and shook his head
"Please don't misunderstand Vegeta! I like Bulma, I like her a lot! But I'm not going to do anything to come between you! I just…I like to be around her because she doesn't think I'm a horrible person like everyone else. She and Goku actually treat me like I'm worth something," he finished softly and looked down at the ground
"Hmph," Vegeta looked like he was ignoring his brother and went to the gravity controls.
"Vegeta..?" Tarble tried to get his attention
"Vegeta what are you doing?" he tried again and walked closer
"I'm setting up the room so we can spar," Vegeta said nonchalantly and then he paused, "that is if you're up for the challenge," Vegeta's trademark smirk was very present on his face and Tarble groaned lightly.
"I guess so.." he said and backed up a few steps
"Tarble that didn't sound very confident, and that always has been your problem," Vegeta appeared behind his brother and kicked him across the room
"Come on! This isn't any fun unless you fight back," Vegeta smirked and Tarble groaned again, this time in pain and discomfort. He stood up and dusted himself off. This was going to be a very long trip home.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Veala and Goten were setting things up for their attack. He would go in with Ren and she and Jewls would follow. Lee and Delvi were going to help her keep her cloaking device active long enough for them to get in and get Trunks and Amy out.
"Veala, don't you think we should wait until it's a little darker?" Goten asked a little worried as he looked around the forest.
"Goten the sun will be up for approximately twelve and a half more minutes. And it's not even up. It's just what we can still see. It's so dark I can't see your face and its right in front of me. If anything we need to move right now because it will be getting light again in about seven hours," she was making some last adjustments to her equipment they had bought with them when they escaped the castle and didn't even look up at him while she spoke.
"Alright, alright, you know best," he said and looked over to where the others were getting ready. Obi and Kri were already in their positions. They were scouting out the perimeter and reporting when they saw any movement.
Ren was stretching to get ready for the fight.
Lee and Delvi were talking strategy and fixing any more flaws they could find in their carefully thought out plan.
They had only been together as a group for three hours and already they were getting ready to fight and possibly die fighting together. Goten hoped that his Veala was ready for this. He didn't have time to finish his thoughts because he heard something rustle very close to where he was and he lit up a KI ball to see what or who it was before he shot it.
"Don't shoot! I'm not an enemy," Goten recognized that voice and face after a moment of thought and he almost fell as he went to the man quickly.
"Veala! It's your grandpa!" Goten could see that the elderly man was scratched up quite a bit so he helped him over to where his granddaughter was.
"Grandpa!" Veala quickly went over him to make sure he wasn't too badly injured. "How did you get out of there?" she asked him after hugging him.
"It wasn't easy," he said quietly.
Veala was frustrated with not being able to see in the dark so she lit up her hands with energy so she could see him. He had been crying and her heart sank.
"Grandpa…what's wrong?"
He shook his head and said sadly
"Your grandmother won't be escaping any time soon," he sounded bereft. Like his whole life wasn't worth living anymore.
"What do you…?" Veala chocked on the question and had to clear her throat.
"She's in the other world now, and I'm going to see that the ones responsible are put to their graves before I'm done here," her grandfather was usually a very serious and level headed man but Veala knew that without his mate and wife he wasn't going to ever be himself again.
Goten took her hand and squeezed it gently
"I'm sorry Vey," he said softly, but she shook her head
"We don't have time to grief right now," she said and looked at her grandpa.
"Do you think you're strong enough to come and help us get Trunks and Amy back?" she asked him quietly and softly. He nodded and she helped him to stand up
"We're going to give them hell," he said and looked towards the castle in the distance.
"They'll wish they hadn't shown up on our planet," he whispered to himself.
As Veala and her team prepared to get into the castle, a dark figure watched from the shadows. He watched and listened and waited. He was curious to see if she could actually pull this off. He was content to let her get to the castle by herself. He'd take care of her then. There was a smirk on his face and he knew that he'd have a lot more fun with this than he originally thought he would.
