Okie day. Next Chapter. I hope it's alright. I hope you like it and don't hate me after this one. Read and enjoy and possibly review if you get a second. They make my whole life. Thanks for being awesome and keeping up with my story.
Don't judge me on any errors I may have made. Couldn't sleep so this was what happened. My brain decided to have me write this and upload it.
Fifteen hours.
That's how long she had been gone. How long he had gone without her in his mind. How long he had been without her. His soul mate. His love. His wife. His joy. His world.
King Briefs was heartbroken.
He had no intention of continuing much longer without his queen by his side. His whole body was numb of any feelings but hatred and desperation. He had been so angry at the time of her death that he had killed every single soldier in the immediate area. The grief he had felt after his anger spike was all consuming. He had fallen to his knees and couldn't bring himself to move until he felt the enemy approaching him. He knew he had no chance of ever beating them alone so he ran into the woods and began searching for whoever had escaped.
It was a long while before he stumbled upon his granddaughter and her friends. He knew she could help him. And that Trunks and she would help him get revenge.
As the sun set in the distance and the night air turned cool the old man walked over to his granddaughter. She was looking out into the distance at their castle. Their home. Their thought to be sanctuary.
"Veala?"
"Hi Grandpa," She muttered without looking up at him.
He could sense she was worried so he offered her some words to console her a bit
"You're as smart as your mother, and her strategies never fail. So I know yours won't either," he smiled kindly at her, but it didn't reach his eyes.
"…We're going to win." She vowed turning to look him in the eyes. She looked fierce and angry. She looked heartbroken like he did.
This wasn't the happy, overprotective, competitive little girl he had come to know and love. This was something the old king had seen before, but had hoped to never see again. She was afraid to cry. She was afraid to feel now. She was afraid that it would make her seem weak. She was just like her mother. He pulled her in for a hug and just held her there.
"It's okay to cry," he whispered into her hair and felt her start to tremble. She gripped him tightly for but a second and then she let go
"I don't have time," she whispered back with a sad look in her eyes. She headed over to where Goten was and quickly whispered something to him. King Briefs sighed and looked up into the stars
"She misses you, too." The old king felt numb as he talked to the sky. He was never to talk to his wife again. Or hear her voice. Oh how could he live without that? He felt the tears come to his eyes, the clear pool of liquid never quite making it down his face before he wiped them away. He wouldn't let Veala see him cry right now. She was being strong, so he could be strong too. But only until their objective had been taken care of. He looked towards his daughter's home and glared into the darkness before him. He could see the storm clouds before they even started to settle over the castle. They weren't going to be able to get out of this storm tonight.
Goten and Veala were beginning their operation. Their scouts had come back and reported the two weak points in the castle. And their fighters were rested and ready to get in there. They were silent as they walked to the entry point of the castle. Goten and Veala ten steps behind Ren and Jewls. Delvi and Lee were further ahead still. Her grandfather was meeting up with them at the castle. He went the long way.
Veala glanced over at Goten and noticed he was already looking at her. She saw the look in his eyes and slowed a little before talking to him.
"What?" she asked softly. He only had that look in his eyes when he wanted to ask her something.
"Veala…We might not make it out of here. You know that right? This is so risky and while my main objective is to keep you safe I have to think about everything else as well. What happens if we don't succeed? They want to capture you and get you and Trunks together for some reason, and I don't know what that is, but I can't let that happen. So you have to listen to me while we're in here, okay? If I tell you run, you'd better run as fast as you can out the doors to get somewhere safe," he suddenly stopped them and held her in front of him. He stayed quiet for a fraction of a minute and then quietly he began to talk again
"Promise me that you'll run. Promise me that you'll stay safe," he implored, his grip tightening on her arms.
She started to tremble. First with fear, then with sadness and finally with anger. Her eyes flickered between their usual dark blue to a light almost turquoise. The energy that flared around her was blue and Goten blinked once, but when he looked back it was gone.
"Goten I don't want you to talk like that. Because you're not going to stay safe so there is no way in hell I'm going to run away. I'm going to be there to protect you just like you'll be there for me. We're doing this together whether you like it or not! I'm not a weak little girl anymore dammit. And I plan on winning back this kingdom one way or another, with everyone still intact. So no Goten. I can't make you that promise. Because I will break it." From her tone he could tell she wasn't budging on this one. The passion in her voice is what made him make his next move.
He kissed her. His lips crashed down on hers and she squeaked.
He pulled her tight against him and poured his heart and soul into a kiss for her. And she wasn't prepared for it at all. So she held onto him tightly so she wouldn't fall. She wasn't used to this much force and dominance from him. She kissed him back after a moment and when they had no other choice but to break apart for air she heard him whisper
"You're going to stay safe and with me. Because I'm not going to lose you. Not when we have so much more to look forward to in the future," the tone in his voice sent shivers up her spine. He rested his forehead on hers and they paused to get their breath back. He was looking into her eyes his expression softening because he couldn't believe she was finally his. It still took him for a loop.
He wasn't about to lose what he just barely got.
Veala let out a content sigh and he could see her love for him in her eyes, but then they heard the others walking back to where they'd lost them and her expression hardened again. Goten let her go with a soft kiss to her forehead.
"There you are. We thought we'd lost you," Ren was speaking to them and then gestured with his hand for them to follow.
"I'll take the lead from here Ren, thanks." Veala grabbed Goten's hand and pulled him with her to the head of the group.
"We're not far now. Be on guard." She said as quietly as she possibly could.
The castle looked dreary and dark as they approached it. They felt the rain as it began to fall and watched the clouds as they seemed to stop moving. It was like they were trying to find a new home and right over the castle was where they had decided to stay. They watched the lightning and heard the thunder. It was faint at first. But as they got closer to the castle it got louder and more intense.
Veala saw the guard first and phased in behind him, putting him in a strangle hold and successfully cut off his oxygen long enough for him to pass out. Goten moved him way out of the way where no one else would find him and the rest of them followed Veala into the castle. They snuck around the back of the throne room and into the hallway. Ren and Jewls took one way while Delvi and Lee went another. Veala was waiting for Goten to catch up before she started moving again. Before he did she heard a small chuckle and turned around. The hall was dark, but she barely made out a silhouette of someone. She knew it wasn't Goten and as a result backed away from whoever it was. As they made their way closer to her she began to panic. The lightning flashed and she caught a glimpse of who it was waiting for her in the dark.
"Zale!" she exclaimed just before the world around her faded to blackness.
Amy was almost done. She was almost broken completely. They had sprained both her wrists with the restraints she hadn't been out of once since she'd been put in the little room. She was mentally exhausted. Yamcha Jr. didn't like to use physical tortures with her. No that was too merciful. He used mental tortures. He got into her head and put horrible images and ideas there. She had figured out that he had made himself half robotic. And he had figured out which wavelengths each Saiyan's brain could operate on. He used that to, for lack of a better word, hack into their subconscious and their memories. He could only do it if he had a piece of the same metal he'd used to make the other half of body with touching them. He was using the restraints on Amy as the connector he needed to get into her head.
Amy didn't know what was real until it was back again. Everything felt real. But she knew that when something wasn't real it would just be off a little. She'd feel as though she'd been through that same situation before. Deja vu meant that he was probably in her head again. Or the color scheme wouldn't be exactly right. The blues and purples would be switched around.
She noticed those things and knew that it wasn't real anymore. So she knew she shouldn't think whatever was going on there was happening in the real world as well. It might be, but she just liked to think that it wasn't. She liked to think that it was just a sick way of him trying to get to her.
At least he'd let her rest sometimes. Like right now. Her eyes were closed like she was sleeping but she was listening and waiting for something to happen. She knew that Veala and Goten were going to be back. She just didn't know when.
She heard a muffled sound from the hallway a little ways away from her cell and opened her eyes. What was that?
She listened harder and heard it again but closer. There was a thump and then the door slowly creaked open. She tensed a little, but then relaxed when she saw who it was.
"Ren! Jewls! What are you two doing?" she called out to them.
"We're saving you and Trunks of course!" Ren smiled at her and went to work trying to get the restraints off of her.
"Are you alright?" Jewls asked as she undid the cuffs linking Amy's feet together.
"I am now," Amy said and smiled lightly. She rubbed her wrists to try and get some blood flowing back into them and she nodded to Ren a thank you.
"Come on, the guards will be making their rounds soon," Amy said and she began to walk towards the door. She stumbled a bit and Ren took one side of her and Jewls took the other and they helped her get out the door and down the hall into a dark spot where they could hide for a minute until Amy got some of her strength back.
"Trunks is up on the third floor," she began explaining to them what had been going on, all the while rubbing her wrists and wincing as she took small steps by herself.
"What are they doing to him?" Ren wondered out loud to himself.
"They're using him to power themselves." Amy explained darkly.
"They're all half robot and the more energy they can get into their circuits the more powerful their Saiyan half becomes. It's really a genius system…they didn't make any mistakes with this one. I don't know exactly how the mechanics work, but I do know that the more energy they need the more they torture Trunks. So we need to hurry." Her anger was clear in her voice and her eyes spoke the words she would never say out loud. She was going to give them all hell.
"Slow down Amy, we need to make sure you're okay first." Jewls said with a superior sounding tone. She wasn't going to let Amy get herself killed because she wasn't ready to fight yet.
"We need to hurry! Weren't you listening?! Trunks is being tortured and we're standing here wasting time!" Amy clenched her hands into fists and then started moving up the stairs closest to her.
"Let's go Jewls," Ren said with a slight nod and began to follow Amy up the stairs. Jewls grumbled a little about never being listened to, but followed them nonetheless.
As they reached the top of the stairs and walked into the dark corridor that led to the third floor they heard arguing.
"You failure! What did I tell you about letting them get away?!" It was Yamcha Jr. and Zale. He slapped his son across the face and Zale just took it, trembling with anger as his father decided to hit him again.
"It was a simple task Zale." He said his anger seeming much more real as his voice lowered and he began to walk around him slowly. Like a lion about to pounce on his prey.
"I don't think you deserve to be part of my great empire anymore. These failures will not be tolerated,"
"Father she didn't get away! I got you who you really wanted, so I don't understand why you're so upset! Goten and her grandfather weren't the main prize anyway!" Zale rubbed his cheek that had turned red from the sting of his father's blows.
"They'll go and regroup with the others you stupid boy! And with his mate in my hands the peasant boy will be most upset. And an upset Saiyan with powers like he has isn't something I needed to have to deal with yet! There's still no word back from our old home planet and if I don't hear back soon I'm going to have to assume that Vegeta and Bulma are heading back this way and I don't need to tell you what that means boy!" Yamcha spit on the floor in disgust. From his voice the young royals could tell he hated the King and Queen. Though none of them knew why exactly.
Zale growled lightly and turned away from his father. Whatever he was thinking made his father turn and kick him so hard he landed all the way down the hallway. He landed right next to where Amy and Jewls and Ren were hiding. He coughed and some blood started dripping from his mouth and landed on the ground next to him.
"If you ever think about betraying me again, I will kill you." His father said as he began to walk the other way down the hallway.
Zale clenched his fists and muttered
"If I could get away from you I would in a second," he sounded very sincere. Amy acted on impulse and she went over to him quickly, using her remaining energy to keep him pinned down. She covered his mouth with her hand. He started to struggle but Jewls grabbed his arms and Ren grabbed his legs and they kept him down.
"Amy what are you doing!?" Jewls all but hissed at her as she glared at Zale.
"I'm giving him a way out if he wants it. He's been a real dick, but I think we all want the same things right now. Yamcha Jr. dead. So maybe we can work out a deal. Because if not you're going to die when we take everything back over,"
Zale's struggling stopped and he looked into her eyes. As if imploring her to continue.
"Listen to me. And listen well. If you really mean what you just said then you're going to help us. You're going to show us where your demon of a dad is keeping Trunks and you're going to help us get away. If you didn't mean it and you have any intention of betraying us then I will kill you right here and now and I will not regret it," She tightened her grip over his mouth, making it very difficult for him to breath. She glared at him and Ren and Jewls looked at her like she was crazy.
"We can't take that kind of a risk here Amy," Ren said looking around making sure no one was coming.
"We can't afford to not take this risk Ren. Zale here can help us. He's going to help us. Because he doesn't want to die. Especially not by his father's hand. The father who he doesn't even care for," Amy slowly let her hand up from his mouth.
"So, what do you say?" she asks, ready to cover his mouth again if he starts to scream or something.
"I say…you have a deal," the look in his eyes sent shivers down Amy's spine. He was dead sent on killing his father. He didn't care about the rest. There was a mischievous look about him and he smirked at Ren as Jewls and Amy let him up. Ren glared at him and stepped closer to him so they were face to face.
"One wrong move smart ass. One. And I will end you," Ren turned and looked around again, making sure they weren't about to be attacked.
"Duly noted." Zale said and brushed himself off. He coughed a few times and wiped the blood away with his sleeve. He winced as Jewls touched his side.
"Looks like he broke a rib or two," she said and folded her arms.
"That's not the worst I've received from him," Zale muttered and started walking down the hallway, "Come on. Trunks is this way,"
"And Veala too, because it sounded like you captured her before. And we need them both." Amy said as they followed closely to him.
"She's right next door to him. Still sleeping probably. My father won't be in there for another ten minutes, but we need to hurry anyways," Zale began to pick up his speed and he stopped them with one hand gesture before he walked into the control room and blasted the two workers into dust.
"Now no one will sound the alarm," he explained as he walked them into Trunks' cell. He was strapped to a metal table and his breathing was very shallow. He looked lifeless. Amy rushed to his side and quickly undid all the wires and things that were attached to him and sticking out of his body.
"Trunks?" she whispered and gently stroked his cheek with her thumb.
He stirred but didn't wake up. He was really dead asleep.
"Jewls, Ren please get him. Get him out of here and somewhere safe. I'm going with Zale to get Veala," Amy said and reluctantly stepped away from Trunks as the other two Saiyans grabbed him and did as they were told.
"Hurry!" Zale growled and walked quickly out of the room and down the hall just a little ways. Veala was in the same sort of situation but there weren't any guards to control the system just yet. So Amy undid all the metal wires and such and Zale picked her up with ease. The princess groaned in her unconscious state. Zale carried her to where Ren and Jewls were waiting.
"What are we doing just standing here? Let's move!" Zale all but ordered them. He rushed down the stairs and passed some of the guards. Suddenly they all heard the alarms going off and they started flying towards the throne room. Ren had Trunks and Zale had Veala and they flew as quickly as they could. Amy and Jewls began taking out the few guards that actually spotted them. Amy took the lead and led them to Veala and Trunks' secret bunker under the throne room. They all slide into the room and she locked the door behind her. No one would find them here. At least not right away. So they were safe for the time being.
"Amy…Trunks doesn't look so great," Ren commented as he laid the prince down on the floor.
She rushed over to his side and put her hands on either side of his face. Her heart sunk. She saw how broken he looked and how exhausted he was even in his sleep. She didn't know how she was going to get him to wake up right now. It was going to be a long night.
