"Kunzite" as the name left my mouth I watched as the man dropped to his knees and bowed his head.
"Why is he doing that" I asked blondie as I pointed to the kneeling man. I watched as she sighed and dropped her head.
"I can't believe you haven't pieced it all together yet" She said.
"Can someone please explain what the hell is going on here!" I said throwing my hands in the air. Kunzite suddenly stood and paced towards me.
"You are the reincarnation of Prince Endymion, the crowned Prince of Earth"
Chapter Sixteen
Darien's POV
The gravel beneath my feet the wind brushing against my face was a welcome feeling. Last nights events had my mind twisting and turning. It was all too much to take in and understand. I have never felt more confused and unsure of myself my entire life, okay I have when I lost my parents and became a bit of loner until Andrew came along, but still this was just more .. crazy. That's it, this whole situation is crazy! I mean it couldn't all be possibly true right, could it?
A COUPLE OF HOURS AGO …
My mind was spinning as I paced back and forth in my living room as two strangers I have never met before sat there and watch my pacing form. Why am I even considering what they're saying? They're talking non-sense. Me, a reincarnated Prince of Earth? I mean come on, this type of drama only happens in movies or books. This is absurd.
"You know you're kind of making me dizzy there, why don't you let us explain before you have a panic attack" I ignored blondie as I continued my pacing. If what they say is true, then … nothing, I've got nothing. No questions, no suspicions just nothing. I felt my heart jump as my breaths were becoming faster and deeper. I looked down at my hands and saw them trembling. I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Sit down let us explain" Kunzite said as he squeezed my shoulder. I nodded and slowly made my way like a zombie to the nearest couch. I kept my head bowed as I tried to calm my self.
"Mina, can you give us a few minutes?" I heard Kunzite say to blondie. I listened as she stood and made her way to my balcony. Once she closed the balcony door I gave out a sigh of relief.
"I know this is a lot to take in. And I'm sorry about all of this. It was mine and Minako's job to keep you and the Princess safe and in the dark about all of this. But as you know, you're memories are slowly returning to you, and so will hers"
"You mean Serena? And who is this Minako?"
"Yes, Serena is the reincarnation of Princess Serenity, your beloved. Minako is my beloved, the woman currently standing outside on your balcony, she is known as Mina in this time. She is also Serenity's cousin in our past lives, and is Sailor Venus lead guard to her court which you now call the Sailor Scouts"
"I've never seen her with Serena or the other girls fight before" I stated.
"So you figured out their identities?" I nodded in response
"That's good, I don't have to explain that part to you. You haven't seen her around because she was not awakened by the same guardian as the rest of the scouts, I'll explain the guardian part later. As leader of Serenity's court, Mina was awakened before all the other scouts. This was to ensure the safety of the Princess. Her main goal was to keep Serena's power and identity a secret from the Negaverse.
"Who awakened you?" I asked.
"Mina was the one who awakened me. She bumped into me a couple of months after she regained all her memories but did not awaken me until she could no longer fight the enemy on her own"
"So who are you? I mean what's your purpose in all of this?"
"I am Kunzite, your Lead General. Like Serena has her four Scouts you have your four Generals."
"This whole Generals thing is starting to sound like Negaverse stuff" I said as narrowed my eyes at him.
"This next information will shock you, brace yourself but please try and keep an open mind" I nodded in response and took a big breath. I had a bad feeling about this next information.
"Your other three Generals are Jadeite, Zoicite and Nephrite" the moment his sentence ended my mind was then again bombarded with images. Images of me drinking and dancing with a man with short light blonde hair, me with a man with long blonde hair in the library reading books, me with a man of long brown hair riding on horses side by side and then images of me and the four of them playing as kids, studying as teens, sparring as adults. I stared at my hands and arms as that familiar golden light again started pulsating around my body.
"What's happening to me?" I asked in confusion
"That, is the Golden Crystal" Kunzite stated.
"Your true powers are reawakening, and you are now unconsciously returning your own memories. How fascinating." Kunzite stated in awe.
"Golden Crystal?" I asked confused
"It is a crystal that beholds tremendous amount of power. Only those of the Earth's Royal bloodline can wield and use its power. It is the second most powerful crystal in the entire Universe"
"Ok I'm a little overwhelmed with all this crystal talk … wait, I don't understand, why are Jadeite, Zoicite and Nephrite fighting for the Negaverse ?" I asked panicked. I watched as Kunzite took in a deep breath.
"Let me start where it all began." He said standing up.
"Evil spread through out our world as one by one and even your own parents was consumed by this evil. We got word that there was going to be an attack on the Moon Kingdom by a faraway planet off our solar system and you offered your services to the Queen and her Princess. We stayed behind to try and find an answer to the growing evil and how it could be stopped. But our intel about the attack on the Moon Kingdom was false. It was a trap, as soon as you left we too was consumed by it. The Intel was half right, the Moon Kingdom was going to be attacked but not by another planet but your own" I remember, well not really. I remember feeling things. I was terrified for Serenity, even with my own home, planet and family in jeopardy I knew my place was to be by her side. It was a hard decision to make and I knew there were going to be consequences but I just knew, I had to be with her.
"Mina told me that it was I and the other three Generals that was leading the attack on the Moon along with a woman of red hair, Lady Beryl" My eyes widened at the sound of her name as a nauseating feeling came over me.
"She was consumed by so much jealousy and anger that she was able to control evil itself and become one with it controlling and turning everyone and everything to dark. She made us kill our own loves with our own hands" the sound of his anguished words had my fists clenching. It made me angry to know that I was not there for them, that I only cared for my heart and I forgot about theirs.
"You did not kill me" I turned to look behind me as blondie, I mean Mina was standing beside me with her hands on her hips.
"We discussed this Kunzite, you would not have been reincarnated if you were alive when the attack happened" she argued
"What do you mean?" I asked
"This idiot has been eating at himself for killing me, but as I explained to him over and over again it wasn't him that killed me. Yes it was his body but it was an empty shell of a body. This empty shell of a body is what you've been fighting against. They are still using the bodies of the original Generals but what inhabits within is not them" Mina explained
"What does all this have to do about his reincarnation?"
"It means his soul and the other three Generals moved on, meaning they were killed. Kunzite would rather die than betray you" I should have been stunned to hear what she had said about their loyalty but I wasn't. I was just overwhelmed with gratitude.
"I don't remember that Mina" Kunzite said with such vain
"It was a traumatic time for you, and I'm sure its something you don't want to remember hence why you haven't" Mina said as she laid a hand on Kunzite's cheek.
"Beryl used your bodies to kill Serenity's guards knowing that their weakness was their loves?" I asked myself.
"Yes, and it worked. None of us stood a chance" I watched as Mina eyes portrayed hurt and anger.
"But not this time, I will not fail her again" she said each word filled with determination.
"Darien, I know this is all a lot to take in .."
"Mina, please let me explain it to him" Kunzite cut in.
"No offence honey, but you're going too much down memory lane and you're wasting time. He will remember on his own like you did. We don't have all night talking about the past. What's done is done and right now my number one concern is Serena" she said turning her head at me.
"Wait before we go on, you said that all four of my Generals were killed, does that mean the three are reincarnated as well?"
"Yes, they are but not yet awakened. We plan to awaken them, but not just yet. The girls need to fully awaken first before they face that road"
"Girls?"
"Rei, Ami and Lita"
"You awakened them?"
"Yes, it had to be done. Kunzite and I can't fight on our own anymore. And coz we're on that subject of the girls, they kind of know who you are now" Mina said as she threw me a 'sorry' smile.
"What?"
"Yup, they know all" Blondie said with a shrug of shoulders.
"Exactly what do they know?" I asked narrowing my eyes.
"Everything, Prince, Tuxedo Mask the whole shebang. There is something I need you to keep from them?" She asked nervously.
"What?" I asked intrigued.
"Could you not mention to the girls anything about Kunzite and the Generals. They don't remember that far back yet and knowing that they've been fighting their past lovers might send them down emotional crazy girl lane" She said as she shot an innocent smile my way.
"Fine, back to Serena"
"Great, ok so here's the dilemma. You being in such close proximity with Serena has caused her to regain some memories"
"By close proximity you mean .."
"No more earth shattering kisses Prince" Mina said as she shook her index finger at my face.
"I think you staying away from her completely would be the best solution to all this" I scoffed at her words and shook my head slightly.
"And why would I do that?" I asked
"Because she holds the first most powerful crystal in the Universe, and unlike yours hers does not belong to only one bloodline. If she fully awakens, so will her powers. And when that happens, the entire Universe will know she has awakened along with the Negaverse, who may I add is on the hunt for her and crystal as we speak. That crystal in the wrong hands can do a lot of damage" This was too much. I cannot in any way just stay away from Serena. I had just promised to stay by her side. There has to be another way.
"I can't" I mumbled.
"You can't what?" Mina asked.
"You can't ask that of me, you have no idea what kind of emotional state Serena's in"
"What do you mean?" she asked a little panicked.
"Asking me to stay away from her completely is the worst move right now. How much do you know of Serena's situation? I asked.
"Just the facts, accident, then memory loss, oh she's apparently keeping earth shattering kisses from her best friends" I rolled my eyes at her reply.
"Is that all you know?"
"Because we're such best friends, yes that's all I know" she said sarcastically.
"Mina" Kunzie warned. She let out a sigh as she rubbed her temples.
"Look Darien, can I call you that?" I nodded. "As much as I have wanted nothing but to stay by Serena's side I had other duties to attend to. Like you I also have a link to her but not as strong. I feel her fear, her worry, her pain so I have an idea what's going on with her but I know you have more light on the situation than I do right now, but there's one thing you're not remembering about her"
"And what is that?" I asked
"That out of all five of us, she's the strongest. Not just by power it self, but by heart, faith and will" She was right of course. I couldn't deny any of that.
"Not to mention she has a heart of gold" she added. I nodded in agreement.
"But there's something you're forgetting" I said
"You're all forgetting that right now in her state of mind, she's just a mere 17 year old high school student who happens to have weird abilities"
"She knows about her powers?" I again nodded in response. I watched as Mina bit her thumbnail in thought
"How long did you think that could be kept secret?"
"If there was no need for her to use her powers she wouldn't have found out. Super strength isn't like in the movies where you have no control over it. You have to exert that strength." Kunzite replied.
"It was her healing wasn't it?" Mina asked still in the same state chewing her nail.
"Yeah" I replied.
"I need to know everything" she stressed.
"From the very first encounter you had with her after the accident. I'll get a recount from the girls tomorrow and we'll talk strategies after. That good with you?" she asked.
"Sounds reasonable enough" I replied. It's going to be a long night.
I started off explaining my relationship with Serena before the accident. I cut out all the emotional parts of course. I continued to tell them about my first encounter with the scouts after Serena's accident and the treaty we agreed on to fight side by side. As I explained Serena's emotional state there was a change in Mina. I could tell she was uncomfortable with what she was hearing. She got even more frustrated when she heard that Serena asked me to help find out what she was. By the time I told her that the only reason why Serena wanted to find out about her abilities was to protect her friends, Mina was sitting on the couch with her face in her hands. After that she and Kunzite left with the agreement that we would meet again the following night. Having all the information, I hoped she would reconsider separating Serena and I. Even if she didn't as if she could ever keep me away.
FLASH BACK END
It was a very long night and I had hardly any sleep. I hoped the jog I was on would help me clear my mind and make sense of all that's happened. But it just caused me to think about everything all over again. I had so many questions and such little answers. And to top it all off, I found out Serena had a massive target sign on her.
I slowed my feet at the thought of her. I did found it rather strange how I felt so drawn to her from our very first encounter. No girl had ever intrigued me so until she came along. Now I know why. I wished I could remember what we were like back then. How we first met, how we fell in love. I ran my hand through my damp hair as I pondered how I was going to protect her while I deceive her at the same time. I knew too much of her past and present. But I knew one thing; I couldn't and wouldn't ever leave her side. No matter how foolish or selfish it is, I need to be by her side, it's where I belong.
As I slowed to a walking pace I decided to have a rest at my favourite bench where it overlooked the park lake. Rose bushes surrounded it and it was a great spot to watch the sun rise. I had found this place on my countless morning jogs and to my surprise I found that its beauty was still hidden from everyone else as I was never disturbed every time I went there, probably because the rose bushes hid the bench and the small grass clearing it had and if you didn't know your way around it you would definitely get thorned by them. I was somewhat grateful it was kept hidden; it was a great place to think and be alone.
Serena's POV
It was cold. I raised my hands to my mouth as I blew a hot breath onto them. I gently rubbed my hands together and was grateful for the solitude this place brought. Being up this early was not something I did often, but what else was I to do? There was something bothering me and I couldn't put my finger on it. I've never felt like this before. I felt like I needed to be somewhere to do something I just didn't know what. Okay, I'm pretty sure I have felt this way more than once, how peculiar. I couldn't shake that feeling that someone needed me or something was happening. I let out a sigh as I closed my eyes. I suddenly felt something trickle down to my chin. I wiped the liquid with my thumb and brought my thumb up to my eyes. Blood. I should really stop biting my lip. I let out another sigh as I fell to my side, using my arms as a pillow from the metal bench. A cold wind blew past and I immediately grabbed hold of my hood and threw it over my head to keep my ears warm. I stared toward the horizon, waiting for the sun to creep through when I suddenly felt a huge amount of weight drop on to my legs causing me to flinch in pain and sit up
"HOLY CRAP!" I heard the stranger cry, who suddenly jumped off me. He bowed his head.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there" he said, head still bowed.
"What kind of idiot can't see an entire person lying here?!" I argued as I rubbed my legs. I kept my gaze on my leg, moving my feet in a circular motion to relieve the pain I felt.
"Serena?" the voice made me slowly peer up.
"Darien?"
"What are you doing here?" he asked eyeing my clothes. I flushed. I completely forgot I was wearing my pink pyjamas covered in bunnies and crescent moons. Note to self: buy more grown up pj's.
"I ahhh .. had trouble sleeping and I came here to just …" I gave out a sigh as I turned my head to look at the lake. I was too tired to explain my self.
"To be alone?" Darien asked. I turned to face him. I was little scared to relpy. I didn't want him to leave. I nodded in response.
"Well I came her to be alone too, mind if we be alone together? The sun will rise soon, it's a beautiful sight from here"
"No, I don't mind" I said with a small smile.
We sat down together on the bench. I pulled my knees up to my chest to keep warm. Noticing I was cold, Darien pulled me close to him leaving his arm around me holding me tight. Why is it, that when I'm with him everything seemed meaningless? Just his presence brings me so much comfort. I laid my head on his chest as we watched the sun rise.
We stayed like this for a while. Sitting in silence, enjoying each other's presence. I was thankful he didn't ask questions about my sleeping troubles. That's why I decided not to ask him of his troubles. Something told me he had a lot on his mind, but like me wasn't ready to share the burden. We barely knew each other yet we understood each other.
"I like your pyjamas" he whispered. I smiled upon hearing his comment.
"I thought I looked a bit childish" I said giggling.
"There's a fine line between childish and cute" he murmured as he laid a soft chaste kiss on my head.
"Do you always run this early?" I asked.
"Sometimes" he replied as he rubbed his hand up and down my arm keeping me warm.
"I should get you back home before your parents think you've been kidnapped"
"Nahh, it's the weekend they know I sleep in so they don't bother waking me up" he didn't reply, just held me tighter. We watched as the city woke up with sun. The sounds of birds, peoples chatter and cars were heard now and we knew our little piece of heaven was coming to an end.
"You doing anything today?" Darien asked, letting me go and standing up to stretch.
"Yeah" I replied lifting my arms to stretch as well.
"Spending some time with Molly and Melvin. It's going to be a fun day, being a third wheel and all" I said rolling my eyes. He chuckled at my eye rolling.
"Well I'd rather be a third wheel then work a 12 hour shift today" He said placing his hand in front of me, offering to help stand me up.
"I'm sure all those pretty nurses make that 12 hour shift bearable" I said with a smirk.
"Actually they make it unbearable" he said with a roll of his eyes. I laughed. He's always been such a serious guy. It's nice to see him loosen up a bit. I had a mental pause. Another bit of information I had no idea I knew.
"Can I walk you home?" he asked
"No offence, but I'll run home if you don't mind" I said pointing down at my attire. He chuckled.
"Yes ok, I get it. But please be careful" he said
"I will, I promise" I gave him a wave good bye as I jumped away in to the surrounding trees. I found it rather strange that I unconsciously knew which routes to take to avoid being seen. I must have been doing this on a daily basis. I really should take into account all the little things I'm starting to remember. Filling in the blanks are not going to be easy, but nothing ever is. I'm taking this weekend as my last weekend to chill. With what I have in mind on how to get my memories back I had a feeling I wont be chilling anytime soon. I just hope to God that Darien will actually agree to my plan. Now what to wear today … ? I thought as I landed on my bedroom balcony.
