Chibs, Nina, and Sophie were the first to leave the birthday party, Chibs quickly sensing his old lady's discomfort over tonight's events. Though Chibs had tried hard to reassure Nina it was clear that she was shaken by what had happened tonight.
Not that Chibs blamed her. He was a bit shaken as well. The croweaters cruel words had pissed him off.
The words kept ringing on in his brain that nappy haired little brat.
He was just thankful that Nina had taken care of the mouthy sweetbutt, because god knows if she hadn't Chibs would have been tempted to do take action himself. He wasn't quite sure what route he would have taken, after all he couldn't see himself hitting a woman even if she was a gash. Flashing his gun or his knives at the sweetbutt had crossed his mind of course; anything to scare the hell out of Trish. Anything to teach the gash a lesson about talking shit about his old lady and his little girl would have soothed him.
Chibs was just thankful that Gemma seemed to have finally backed off Nina for now at least. It seemed that Nina punching out Trish had eased a bit of the hostility the Queen of SAMCRO had been throwing Nina's way.
Chibs had left his old lady to take a hot bath as soon as they entered her apartment hoping that soaking in a bubble bath might ease her tensions.
He put his focus on getting Sophie to bed, tucking the girl in with two of her stuffed animals.
He couldn't help but to chuckle as Sophie made sure she had her pink hippo and the white and pink bunny he'd bought her today on either side of her as Chibs tucked her hot pink Barbie comforter around her.
Chibs smoothed back a few strands of Sophie's wild hair hoping that the somewhat messy pony tail he'd given her would hold overnight and wouldn't leave her hair a tangled mess come tomorrow.
He pressed a kiss to the little girl's forehead trying hard to pretend that tonight hadn't been a stressful mess. "Did ya have fun tonight lovely girl?"
Sophie nodded her head her eyes growing heavy. It seemed that she was finally edging off the sugar high she'd picked up from the huge slice of strawberry birthday cake she'd had not long ago. "Uh huh. I showed Lyla my coloring books. I like Lyla. She has pretty hair like Aurora."
Chibs raised an eyebrow hating to admit that he was a little dumbfounded by this comment. "Aurora love?"
Sophie furrowed her brow apparently confused by her father's naivety. "Uh huh. She's the princess in Sleeping Beauty. She and Lyla both have pretty blonde hair."
Chibs nodded his head giving the girl a small smile. He hated to admit it but this was one of those times where his daughter's extensive knowledge of all things Disney threw him for a loop.
It wasn't as though he'd spent the past decade in the clubhouse binging on Disney films afterall.
He was quickly realizing when it came to Sophie he was getting a crash course in all things princess and girly, and though he'd never admit it if anyone asked, he was enjoying every second of it.
No he wasn't exactly scratching at the walls to play tea party, admire his daughter's freshly painted pink fingernails, and watch The Little Mermaid at least once every single week.
It was just that Chibs soaked up these moments simply because they made his little Sophie happy.
He loved that she wanted to show him her nails after Nina painted them in glittery nail-polish. He loved that she wanted to pour him tea with her little plastic tea set. He adored it when she sat in his lap and took control of the remote flipping the tv from boxing to some sugary kids show about unicorns and glitter.
Chibs knew that his brothers' would give him hell for all of this. He didn't give a shit though.
It was just that this was a phase he'd missed with his Kerrianne; loving princesses, pink, nail polish, and dress up.
It meant the world to him that he was getting a second chance so to speak with Sophie.
It was no secret that his Kerrianne was growing up so fast. She was nearing her fifteenth birthday, and Chibs was all too aware that before he knew it his oldest child would be driving off to college.
He only hoped that he could soak up a few more moments with his Kerrianne before she was far too old to care about hanging out with her old da, instead of hanging out with boys and her school friends.
Sophie spoke again letting out a heavy sigh. "I don't like Kenny though...he's mean."
Chibs felt his stomach drop knowing very well that little Kenny Winston could be a handful.
It had seemed that since Donna had passed on that Kenny had found himself getting into trouble at school at least once a week. He tended to get into fights letting his fists act before his brain.
Chibs couldn't count the times Opie was called away from the garage or the clubhouse to ride up to Kenny's school and meet with the teacher or the principal.
Of course having Lyla in his life had made these trips a bit easier to handle for Opie, but it seemed that Kenny was still acting out. Chibs didn't envy Opie when it came time for Kenny to become a teenager. The boy was a hellion in the making.
Chibs couldn't help but to feel a hint of rage peek up in him as a sudden frightening thought entered his mind.
Had Kenny lost his temper with with Sophie?
Chibs was overtaken with rage at the idea of Kenny bullying little Sophie. Chibs sure as hell didn't buy that boys will be boys bullshit.
Chibs knew enough to know that sometimes rough boys grew up to be mean bastards if you didn't get a hold on things soon enough.
He was so tempted to shoot up from his spot knelt beside Sophie and ride out to Opie and Lyla's house. No one hurt his Sophie.
Chibs knew that Sophie would be so defenseless if some bigger older kid were to come at her.
Though Sophie had inherited Chibs' longer legs she was still a dainty child. She was taller than some kids her age, but she was still a tiny thing; so thin and delicate. Chibs guessed that she might of inherited her small frame from him as well.
After all Chibs had been quite scrawny when he was a lad. He had been tall but lanky. Other larger kids in his neighborhood had ganged up on him quite often. Kids in Chibs' poor Glasgow neighborhood had beaten him and stolen what little money he had more times than he cared to remember.
Of course that had all changed when Chibs had taken up boxing. It had been a necessity living in his neighborhood; knowing how to fight.
He had been skinny, but quick and relentless. Soon kids had learned not to pick on him.
Of course as he'd grown into an adult he'd gained a little bit of muscle and had learned to put off an aura of intimidation.
Now no one messed with him if they knew what was good for them.
Chibs let out a soft sigh knowing that he didn't want this for Sophie. Yes she was a girl, and girls and boys fought quite differently. But that didn't stop him from wanting his little girl to know how to defend herself.
He silently came to the conclusion that he might have to see if he could sweet talk Nina into letting him show Sophie some boxing moves when she was old enough.
He knew it would take more than a little convincing on Nina's side, but he was willing to give it a shot.
He knew that the world could be nasty, and the last thing he wanted was for either of his girls to be out in the world without any idea how to defend themselves.
Chibs took a deep breath reminding himself that he was jumping to conclusions. He was letting his mind get ahead of himself.
He spoke gently trying to hide any fury in his voice. "Why's Kenny mean wee peanut?"
"He pushed Piper. That's not nice. Mommy says you shouldn't hit and you shouldn't shove." Sophie explained her brow furrowing even more as she remembered peeking out into the backyard and seeing Piper and Kenny fuss and fight with one another while Ellie texted on her cell phone.
Chibs let out a small sigh of relief thankful to hear that Kenny hadn't taken any of his rage out on Sophie. Still though the idea of Kenny messing with his daughter didn't leave Chibs' mind.
Yes when Sophie was old enough Chibs was definitely getting her into the boxing ring.
He pulled himself away from plans to get Sophie a pair of boxing gloves and send her to punching practice on one of the prospects, as he spoke. "Aye that's not nice at all love. Is that why ya stayed inside?"
"Uh huh." Sophie murmured cuddling her stuffed bunny her voice small.
Chibs sighed a small part of him wondering if this would be a trend in Sophie's life. He already knew from hearing Nina talk that Nina had been so introverted when she was a little girl.
Hell Nina was still somewhat introverted though she tried so hard to be outgoing.
He also knew from hearing Nina talk that being so introverted had made her childhood quite lonely. She hadn't told him much about her childhood. He had sensed that it made her sad. He'd avoided asking her too much about it. He couldn't bear to see her so sad.
Chibs understood having a lonely childhood. His own childhood had been severely lonely.
His often violent father had made Chibs' childhood home so tense. Both Chibs and his sister Cait had walked on eggshells fearing their father's violent outbursts. Their father had bullied any confidence Chibs and Cait had right out of them leaving both Chibs and Cait silent to the outside world.
Fiona had been the one who'd gotten Chibs to open up. Chibs knew that without his exwife he would have found himself friendless as a child.
Chibs knew that Nina had been just that as a child; friendless.
Both Nina and Chibs didn't want this for their girl.
Chibs prayed that Sophie wouldn't follow her parents path. He wanted his little girl to have friends she could trust; friends she could do all the normal things kids were supposed to do with each other.
He kept this silent prayer to himself as he pressed a kiss to Sophie's forehead. "Maybe you'll meet some nice friends at yer dance classes yeah?"
Sophie nodded her head looking just as hopeful as her father. "Maybe."
Chibs gave her a small crooked smile hoping that he was hinting at something that might be possible.
He knew she'd been to her dance class two times so far, but she hadn't mentioned anything about the other kids in the class.
He just didn't want her to be lonely.
He pushed these thoughts from his brain as he leaned down pressing a gentle kiss to Sophie's cheeks. "Get some sleep wee love."
She nodded her head rolling over onto her side somehow managing to snuggle both of her stuffed animals at once. "Okay. Love you daddy."
Chibs couldn't stop himself from grinning at this sentence. How was it possible for one little sentence to fill him to the brim with such joy?
"I love ya too leanabh moath." He murmured pressing another kiss to her cheek.
He managed to switch on her nightlight before shutting off the lights and leaving her door just cracked enough that a little light could trail into the room.
Chibs made his way to Nina's kitchenette fishing two bottles of Bud Light out of the fridge. He knew that his old lady might want a drink given how tonight had gone.
Nina was fresh from the shower when Chibs entered the room.
She had changed into a comfy pair of black lacy boyshorts and her favorite sleepshirt; a black top with the words Coffee Tea Pancakes & You emblazoned along the front.
The hot bubble bath had left her feeling a bit less tense though she was still mentally scolding herself for losing her temper so easily.
She was currently locked into a battle with her difficult curls running a brush through her hair spraying a healthy amount of detangling spray into her curly locks.
Chibs gave her a crooked smile unable to stop himself from admiring her rounded backside in the tight boyshorts she was wearing. He was tempted to sneak his hand down for a feel of her bottom but held off choosing instead to stand by her side
He placed the beers on her vanity table before pressing his lips to her cheek. "How are ya doin hen?"
Nina was unable to keep the tightness from her voice as she finally managed to work her brush through a tough tangle. "I'm so embarrassed Filip."
Yes she knew they'd already discussed what had happened with Trish, but Nina could shake the shame of it all.
She had tried so hard to use her words; to out sass the bitchy sweetbutt, but in the end Nina had just lost it.
Chibs let out a soft sigh shaking his head. "I already told ya Nina ya have nothin to be embarrassed by. Ya did what an old lady does fer her family."
Nina frowned remembering how Gemma had made a similar statement. "I didn't do what a good mother does though...what if Sophie had seen what I did? What kind of lesson is that for her huh? Hitting is okay if you're mad enough because that's just what good old ladies do?"
Chibs felt his stomach flip a bit stunned by the sour tone to Nina's voice as she threw the old lady statement back at him.
He sighed knowing that he might be in for a fight if he didn't chose his words carefully. "Sophie didn't see it though love. She has no idea what happened."
"Yeah what about next time huh?" Nina spat out her eyes narrowing annoyed that Chibs didn't seem to think that this was a big deal.
Chibs gave her a small smile trying to lighten the mood. "Next time? Are ya plannin on making a habit out of beatin up mouthy sweetbutts hen? I can't say I'm against the idea. I have always loved the idea of my girl kickin someone's arse."
He sighed as Nina sent him a glare obviously not finding his joke funny at all.
He quickly put a different strategy to use pressing a soft kiss to Nina's cheek. "I know love...sorry not funny...Ya did what ya had to do though Nina. Ya reacted the same way most mothers would react if someone talked shite about their baby."
Nina sighed placing her brush down on the vanity turning to face Chibs as she spoke. "I just feel so embarrassed...this was my first time meeting everyone and I acted that way...They must think I'm some sort of temperamental basketcase."
"I already told ya hen they don't think that at all. They know how much ya love our Sophie. Ya putting that gash in her place fer darin to talk bout Soph jus proved that fact. It's not somethin Gemma or Tara or even Lyla hasn't done at one point...knockin out a croweater." Chibs stated trying to calm Nina down.
She shook her head at this still so mortified that she'd lost her temper in such a way. No it wasn't as though anyone had treated her like a social pariah during dinner.
Everyone had been friendly. The kids had all sat at one end of the table chatting amongst themselves and the adults had sat at another end of the table talking about the guys who were locked up in Stockton and how slow business had been at the garage lately. Most of the talk had turned to Tara's pregnancy and Gemma's and most of the Sons prediction that it was a boy.
Dinner had been pleasant. No one had talked about Trish at all during the meal.
Still though Nina felt like a total moron.
This was Chibs' family. This had been a big deal to Chibs. Tara's birthday party was his big chance to introduce Nina and Sophie to his family, and Nina had gone and punched out a croweater.
She shook her head still locked in total mortification. "I doubt they've gotten into fights at family dinners though."
"With our family ya'd be surprised hen." Chibs stated pressing a soft kiss to her forehead.
He moved his lips downwards sliding them along hers as he spoke again. "Ya have no reason to feel embarrassed bout tonight. Ya did me proud."
She shook her head unsure if she would ever believe that her getting into a fight with Trish was totally kosher. "I can't believe I lost it."
Chibs sighed knowing that they might be talking in circles about this all night if he let her. "I'd be worried if ya didn't crack love. I mean shite...what that gash said was horrible. Sophie is lucky to have a mother who'd fight tooth and nail to defend her. If ya hadn't done it someone else would have."
Nina shook her head unsure if she'd ever quite compltelty see things Chibs' way. Good moms didn't get into fist fights. Good moms set good examples for their kids.
Chibs was quick to change the subject before Nina had a chance to continue the Trish conversation. "Did ya have a good time despite all the bullshit?"
"I did...I mean Gemma was...well Gemma. Tara was nice though. She made me feel real welcome. Lyla was nice enough...she was pretty quiet though." Nina remarked remembering how silent the leggy blonde had been through out the evening.
A small part of Nina feared that maybe Lyla was team-Gemma in all this.
Chibs gave Nina a small smile relieved to know that he'd been right in knowing that Tara and she would be a good match friend wise. "Aye Lyla's a bit shy really...She had a hard time of things when she first started seein Ope."
"Did Gemma treat her like garbage too?" Nina asked not helping to make it a point that she was still not on friendly terms with the Sons Matriarch.
Chibs sighed his stomach turning as the words spilled from his mouth. "Aye Tara too...It's cause of Lyla's job...she's in porn...she works fer Cara Cara."
Nina widened her eyes her own stomach turning at this; porn. Lyla was a pornstar?
Chibs sighed seeing the doubt in his old lady's eyes. "I know love...She's not what yer thinkin though. She's a nice lass, crazy bout Opie. Give her a chance will ya...fer me."
Nina tightened her jaw tempted to tell Chibs that there was no way in hell she was going to befriend a pornstar.
Yes she knew she was being smallminded, but all she could think when she thought of the word pornstar was some coked out plastic surgery addict...not the kind of person she wanted around Sophie nor her man.
Of course she'd known that this was part of Chibs' world. He'd told her that much when he'd first explained his lifestyle to her.
It wasn't like he was cheating on her, but still the idea of her boyfriend being buddy buddy with pornstars made Nina's stomach churn.
What about the people Lyla hung around with? Were they just like Trish? After all the girls that worked for Cara Cara must of hung around the clubhouse a time or two.
Then again according to Chibs Lyla was crazy about Opie. So maybe Nina needed to hold off on the judgment.
Nina wasn't quite sure if she should hold back her first judgments though. After all if tonight was a sign or anything, it was that sometimes the women that hung around the Sons weren't great people.
She shook her head deciding that she would have to do what Chibs' was asking her; she had to give Lyla a chance. "Okay...I'll try."
Chibs gave her a tight smile pressing a kiss to her lips as he spoke. "Thank ya love...I know my life is a lot to take in, I know it's...well it's fuckin insane, but thank ya fer sticking it out with me hen. I love ya."
Nina gave him a small tight smile nodding her head. This meant a lot to him. Yes he was right; his world was insane, but she was going to stick it out for him. "I love you too querido."
Nina let out a heavy sigh as she kept a hold on the plastic storage container holding all of the photos she owned. The heavy container was cutting off her circulation, but it wasn't as though she had any help. Sophie wasn't quite strong enough to carry the load.
Her tia was insisting on picking out photos for Estrella's Tavern's upcoming anniversary bash. Of course this meant Nina had to pack up all her photo albums and individual photos and bring them over to Gabriella's house.
Nina had a feeling that this was mostly just her aunt's way of snatching up a few photos of Sophie.
Nina didn't blame her tia. After all Nina had kept Sophie from Charming up until recently. Gabriella had only seen the girl on Sophie's third Christmas.
Nina had sent photos of course; tons of them. That wasn't enough for Gabriella apparently. She was insisting on see every photo Nina owned.
Gabriella was a sucker for photographs. The front of Gabriella's old refrigerator was literally littered with photos.
Gabriella was also pushing for Sophie to spend the weekend with her. So Nina had obliged. She'd packed Sophie up for a weekend at her aunt's house.
Nina knew it would be good for Sophie. She wanted her daughter to develop a good relationship with Gabriella. After all Gabriella was the closest thing to a grandmother Sophie had.
Chibs' mother had passed on, and Nina's mother was god knows where. Gabriella was all Sophie had in the grandmother department.
Nina tried to pretend that her fingers didn't feel like they were about to fall off as she spoke to her daughter. "So what are you and Tia having for dinner?"
"I don't know. I hope it's pizza. Daddy makes pizza." Sophie exclaimed causing Nina to shake her head a small smirk on her face.
Chibs didn't make pizza. He actually ordered pizza, or Chinese, or occasionally he might go and pick up burgers or burritos. It was what happened anytime Nina put the Scot in charge of making dinner.
Making breakfast and grilling were Chibs' only two skills in the kitchen. He was always trying to help Nina out in the kitchen, but most of the time she stuck him on chopping veggies or buttering toast; things he couldn't burn.
"Maybe we can have pizza when you come home from Tia's." Nina remarked silently wondering if she could maybe make some sort of homemade pizza with healthy ingredients. Anything was better than the extra cheese sausage and pepperoni mess Chibs always ordered.
She knew that if it was up to her man and her daughter they would eat take out and burgers every night of the week.
"I hope so. Will daddy come to my dance class when I come home from Tia's?" Sophie asked her bottom lip jutting out as she pleaded with her mother.
Nina gave her a tight smile at this request. She wanted so badly to tell the girl that yes her father would be at her dance class come Monday.
She knew better though than to make such a promise. Chibs had been so damn busy lately with the both the garage and the club; trying to keep everything together.
She spoke hoping that she wasn't about to break her daughter's heart. "We'll see baby. I'll talk with daddy tonight and see if he can make it to your dance class Monday."
Sophie nodded her head her smile faltering. "Daddy's always busy."
Nina felt her heart crack a little at this. She should have known that Sophie would notice just how busy her daddy always seemed to be.
If he wasn't at the garage he was off dealing with club business. When he was at home he was so exhausted.
Nina knew that Chibs had warned her about this; how busy things would be for him lately. The guys being locked up in Stockton put a big hindrance on the club. He was trying to keep it all together.
She knew she should have been expecting this. Chibs had told her things were going to be rough.
Sophie was such a sensitive child as it was. She was so close to Chibs; she adored her father. Of course the little girl would notice just how tired her beloved dad was.
"I know baby. Daddy just has a bunch of things he has to take care of. I know he'd rather be spending time with us though." Nina stated trying to soothe the girl's heartbreak.
Sophie frowned her face still crestfallen. "Why can't he spend time with us then?"
"He wants to, real bad baby. It's just that sometimes adults have to do things they don't like doing. He has to work at the garage and he...sometimes he has to work more than he wants to. That's called having responsibilities." Nina explained deciding it was best if she left out the truth that Chibs' work involved the MC too.
Yes she knew that one day Sophie would figure out just what the Sons were. That day could wait though.
Sophie was still just a kid; a kid that adored her father and didn't understand why he was so busy.
"I wish he didn't have responsibilities." Sophie murmured rolling her eyes slightly.
Nina chuckled nodding her head. "Yeah that's the way most grown ups feel baby. You know what though?"
"What?" Sophie asked still pouting a tiny bit.
"That just makes the time we have with daddy way more special." Nina stated hoping that this would ease her girl's blues.
She was thankful that Sophie nodded her head saying nothing in response seemingly satisfied with these answers.
Nina knew though that she would have to have a talk with Chibs about this all. She knew he couldn't really help having to be away so much, but that still didn't' mean that he didn't need to have a talk with their daughter.
Nina hoped that maybe Chibs could handle this situation better than her. Maybe he'd have the right words to ease Sophie's confusion and heartbreak.
She shoved this from her mind reaching out to knock on her aunt's door which translated into Nina kicking the door somehow without not dropping the storage container.
Gabriella embraced Sophie pressing kisses to the girl's cheeks as soon as the door opened. "My florecita."
She smiled at Nina opening the door wider as she spoke. "Come on in baby. Put that on the dining room table."
Sophie was quick to speak her voice excited as Gabriella took the girl's pink Minnie Mouse backpack from her. "Can we go look at the garden Tia? I wanna see if my sprouts are taller."
Gabriella placed a hand on the girl's cheek pleased to see that Sophie was excited about the little garden in Gabriella's backyard. They'd planted tomato seeds the last time Sophie had visited.
She looked up at her niece as Nina placed the heavy storage container down on the little round dinning room table that sat in the corner of the tiny kitchen. "Do you want to stay for tea baby?"
"I can't Tia. I have loads of laundry at home." Nina remarked shaking her mess at the mess in the kitchen; piles upon piles of mail.
Her tia had never been good about sorting through things. She hung on to mail like no one. Catalogs were her aunt's biggest weakness. She hung on to them simply because she enjoyed flipping through them and admiring all the clothes.
Her tia was a shopaholic. The only problem was that she didn't have a lot of money to throw around on shopping trips. Gabriella knew how to sew though. She liked to keep the catalogs so she could look at the clothes for sewing ideas.
"Not even for a minute? Laundry can wait." Gabriella remarked clicking her tongue just the way Nina hated.
Nina smiled shaking her head. "I can't. Maybe some other time Tia."
Gabriella clicked her tongue again before turning to take Sophie out back.
Nina sighed her eyes locking back down on the mess in the kitchen. She might as well straighten up a little. She just prayed that she didn't toss anything that Gabriella just couldn't live without.
Nina went over to the counter shaking her head at the mess. She picked up the shortest stack filing through it tossing the junk mail in the nearby garpage can.
Nina felt her blood run cold as she came across an envelope; Saint Thomas Hospital Oncology Center.
Oncology; that meant cancer didn't it?
She let out a shaky breath her eyes watering. Cancer.
Yes she'd noticed that her tia had been tired lately, but everytime Nina tried to bring it up Gabriella would change the subject.
Nina kept her eyes on the envelope her feet moving as her mind raced.
All she could think about was getting out of here; away from the pain.
She wanted Chibs.
Chibs rolled his eyes as he listened to Kozik brag to one of the other mechanics about some redhead he'd picked up at a bar a few weeks before.
He stared down into the inner-workings of the red SUV he was checking the power steering on as he listened to Kozik rattle on. "Chick was a freak. I'm talking ropes and blindfolds."
The other mechanic who went by the nickname Worm chuckled taking a gulp from his soda as he spoke. "Were you tied up or was she?"
"Me, more fun that way. I told her about the clubhouse she's interested." Kozik stated a grin on his face apparently proud to have roped in a new possible croweater.
"Aye she thinkin yer jus lookin to date her?" Chibs stated finally contributing to the conversation.
He knew enough to know it sometimes happened; a new girl showed up at the clubhouse thinking that the Son who'd told her about the place was interested in making her his girlfriend.
"No way. Like I said chick's a freak." Kozik stated still grinning.
Chibs shook his head tuning the conversation out as Kozik began to brag again getting more raunchy in his story.
Chibs tore his eyes away from the suv as Kozik nudged him in the shoulder. "Hey isn't that your girl?"
Chibs felt his stomach plummet as he spotted Nina. She looked shaken; tears in her eyes, her face flushed. She was clutching an envelope in her hands like it was a lifesaver.
Chibs wiped his hands on his workshirt as he made his way over to her.
Nina said nothing as she fell into Chibs' arms. He ran his hand up and down her back unable to hide the worry from his voice. "Hen what's wrong? Is it Sophie love?"
Nina shook her head her voice cracking as she stared up at him. "No she's okay...She's at my Tia's...that's where I found this."
She handed Chibs the envelope her eyes still watering. Chibs stared down at it his stomach plummeting even farther.
He quickly connected the dots his stomach flopping. He knew that Gabriella was ill; she'd hinted around at it. It all made sense now.
She was trying to tie up loose ends; leave Nina and Sophie in a good place.
He pulled Nina against him his voice soft. "Oh hen. Did ya ask her bout it?"
"No...I just left...I just wanted to get out of there. I can't believe it. Look at the date Filip. That letter is from a month ago. She's known all this time and she said nothing. Why didn't she tell me?" Nina stated her sorrow turning to rage.
Chibs pulled her back against him as she fell apart again.
He ignored the concerned curious glances from Kozik and Worm as he pressed a soft kiss to the top of Nina's head. He spoke continuing to rub her back. "Let's get outta here lass, go home yeah."
Nina nodded her head taking the envelope from him everything within her hurting.
Why didn't her tia tell her? There had been so many opportunities for Gabriella to tell her the truth. God this hurt so bad.
Right now all Nina wanted was to fall apart.
The only mother she'd ever known was seriously ill. This had to be serious. You didn't see an Oncolgist for shits and giggles.
She allowed Chibs to lead her to her car letting him to open the passengers door for her.
Chibs got into the drivers seat his stomach still in knots. What was Gabriella thinking? Why hadn't she told Nina?
He sighed knowing that Nina and he would get their answers.
He took Nina's hand in his giving it a squeeze. "It'll be okay hen. I promise."
Nina frowned wanting to tell him that he couldn't promise her something like that. She kept silent though.
Right now his promise sounded good. She closed her eyes squeezing his hand back.
It would be okay she told herself. It had to be okay.
Trish Hartwell pulled drove her old pickup truck down a dusty road leading up into the woods outside of Charming.
She hadn't put on any makeup. The damage Nina Franklin had done was visible along Trish's face; her bruised nose was swollen and bandaged. It was most likely broken.
Trish wanted her big brother to see just what Nina had done. She wanted him to see it all.
Trish's brother Ryan had at one point been in Darby's crew the Nords. It was a white power crew, but Ryan had felt that they weren't quite as dedicated as Ryan himself.
So Ryan had taken to the woods forming his own crew. They called themselves the New Order.
The crew was small. It was consisted of a few members from Darby's crew; men who agreed with Ryan.
They ran a few prostitutes out of an old dive bar downtown.
Ryan had always looked out for his younger sister Trish. So naturally Trish had limped out of Gemma's home and headed straight to her brother's after going to the clinic and getting her broken nose reset of course.
Trish stormed into the old cabin Ryan had set up his crew's main hangout at, her face red with rage.
Ryan looked up from the joint he'd been rolling his brow furrowing as he spotted his beloved little sister.
She stared up at her brother sure to jut her nose out. "Look what that bitch did to me."
"Who Trishy?" Ryan blurted out his eyes narrowing.
"Nina Franklin. She owns that bar Estrella's Tavern. She's one of the Son's old lady's. The spic just went nuts on me." Trish spat out knowing just what would set her brother off.
Ryan ran his hand over his shaved head his jaw tightening.
He should have known this would happen. He hadn't wanted his sister running around that clubhouse.
After all the Sons were degenerates; race betrayers the whole lot of them. He had seen the kid with the mohawk and the scary bald guy that ran around with them. They sure as hell weren't white.
He placed a hand on his sister's arm shaking his head. "Who's her man?"
"Chibs Telford...I thought he was my friend. Kozik...the new guy that just got patched into the Sons, he invited me to a party at Gemma Teller Morrow's house. Nina...s-she just attacked me while I was hanging out in the back yard taking a smoke break." Trish lied again.
She knew her brother would be ashamed of her if he knew she'd lost a fight, especially a fight she'd started.
He had always told her to never start a fight she couldn't finish.
He had taught her to fire a gun; to protect herself.
Trish knew that Ryan wouldn't like that she'd instigated the fight due to her attraction to Chibs Telford.
Ryan hadn't wanted her to hang around the clubhouse. He didn't like the Sons. He thought her quest to become an old lady was stupid.
She was quick to speak spotting the rage dancing behind her brother's eyes. "I want that bitch to pay. Make her pay for me."
Ryan nodded his head his voice tense. "Yeah she's going to pay. I'll take care of this shit don't you worry bout a thing."
Trish smirked at these words. Nina Franklin was going to regret ever punching her. Ryan would make her pay.
Reviews? Constructive Criticism?
