I don't own OHSHC.
Eclair's was rapidly growing, according to Kyoya. Apparently, someone from Ouran had seen Kaoru enter the shop one day, and decided to check it out for them self. They had a great experience and decided to tell some friends about it. Not that Kaoru minded, he knew the coffee shop deserved more than the average number of customers it had daily. It was a really great place- with a relaxing atmosphere.
He sat in math class with his brother and Haruhi. Their math teacher had begun the next unit after handing out their unit test sheet they had the previous day. Hikaru was relieved, he had an amazing solid score of 96%. Good for him, thought Kaoru. He sighed as he stared at his own of an 82.5%. He knew he could do better, if he ever studied. He wasn't as math-inclined as Hikaru was. He shoved his test sheet somewhere in his binder.
"I can't wait until school is over." Kaoru leaned back, thinking of going to see Tamaki again. His face flushed, it often did every time he thought of the blonde. His brother looked back at him, a knowing smile on his face as he waggled his eyebrows.
"Yeah, same here. I kind of want to go hit the pool. You want to come with, Haruhi?" the older Hitachiin asked, leaning forward on his desk. Kaoru rolled his eyes, of course Hikaru wouldn't ask if he wanted to go with him. Not like he wanted to, anyways. He stared forward to his teacher, still listening to the talking going on next to him.
"Gee, I'd really love to, but I have to be at the Music Room for RAG." She replied. RAG was a group she hosted, involving the LGBT students within Ouran. What it meant was 'Rainbow Alliance Group and Kaoru often went to support Haruhi. The first time the younger twin set foot in that place, he decided that the group was ridden with 'yaoi fanatics' and creeps. Overall, they seemed really passionate about LGBT awareness.
"Hm, I guess I'll join you with that, then." Hikaru stated. Kaoru began to drown out their talking, and began listening to the teacher. He really needed to boost up his grades just a bit. Or maybe by 10%.
He couldn't stand the teachers dull, boring voice. It practically lulled him to sleep, and the next thing he knew; the bell had rung for the next period. He mentally scolded himself and hoped that Hikaru understood everything, even made a mental note to ask for help. He walked to his locker, accompanied by his brother. They both didn't have the same classes that period. Kaoru had art, and his brother had family studies with Haruhi. Kaoru smiled at the two, he knew that Hikaru had something for the cross-dresser, but dare not say anything about it.
He brought only his pencil and eraser to the class, and he was greeted by the teacher, Ayano-sensei, and a few other girls in the class. He sat down at one of the side tables. The middle of the room is usually where the easels sat, but not today. He sighed, he was hoping on finishing his previous assignment today.
"Alright, class. I gave you all enough time to work on your pieces, but now you have to do that on your own time. I'd like to move on." She smiled brightly at her students. "I hope you're all good at English poetry, because we're going to be working on a sonnet." Everyone in the class talked among their peers, unsure if they're really up for it. "You all know what a sonnet is, right?" Silence, "Okay..." Kaoru knew what a sonnet was. "It's a type of poetry consisting of only 14 lines and 10 syllables for each sentence." Ayano-sensei really emphasized on a few of her words, and a girl raised their hand to ask a question. Kaoru looked down at his pencil and eraser, regretting the fact that he left his sketchbook at home. He didn't think that he would want it for today.
"Will it be the Italian sonnet or English sonnet?"
"Preferably the English sonnet. I think it would be easier to understand for you guys. But that it totally optional! You can do the Italian sonnet if you'd like." She said. Ayano-sensei began to teach the class how a sonnet was broken into 3 groups of 4 lines, and the last 2 lines into a couplet. She then handed out a sheet of writing paper to the class, saying that this piece can be whatever you want it to be. "It can be about love, family, your dog. Uh, maybe something you like. A favourite hobby; anything!"
He said a small thanks his sensei when she handed him a paper to write on. She began to tell the details about this new project. They had to write the sonnet before Monday, so that they could begin a painting revolving around the writing piece.
Art class had ended, Kaoru was still trying to count every syllable, making sure it fit to the orders of a sonnet. He let out a breath, he thought this would be easier, considering he was exceptionally good at English. It was lunch period now, and Kaoru couldn't be more relieved. His stomach had begun aching for food in the middle of his art class. He felt a little buzz in his back pocket. He brought out his phone, seeing a text from Tamaki.
You coming over to the shop, Space Cadet? - Tamaki-chan
Yeah, if you don't mind. - Kaoru
He smiled, putting the phone back into his pocket. Space Cadet had become his nickname, after getting lost in his thoughts so much. He walked to his locker, already seeing Hikaru there, chatting with Haruhi and Kyoya.
"Hey, Kyoya." He greeted the tall, raven-haired male. He showed off his signature smirk and greeted him back. He opened his locker, putting his pencil and eraser in a little container. Just two more periods, he thought, then the day finally ends. He closed his locker when he knew he had everything he needed for his lunch break. His wallet, a binder, and a pencil. His phone buzzed again.
I don't mind, but will you? I don't get off until closing time tonight. :( - Tamaki-chan
Kaoru frowned, he was looking forward to going on a little outing with the blonde male. Like they do every week. He thought about what he wanted to do; go home and ask Hikaru for some help in math, or go to Eclair's to see Tamaki on his break. His break only lasted 15 minutes. Another buzz.
It's okay if you can't come by, it's a school night, too. Study for your classes. I promise I'll make it up on Saturday. :) - Tamaki-chan.
I'll keep you to that, Tama-chan. :P Can't wait until then! - Kaoru
He smiled, they never really went out on the weekends. Tamaki was usually working the weekends. Long enough for most stores to already be closed for the night. He wondered briefly if that meant he couldn't see him until Saturday. The younger Hitachiin will have to wait until tomorrow, just to be sure. Tamaki would text him about it. Kaoru didn't really want to be the clingy one. He began to wonder some more; are they dating now? He and Tamaki hadn't really discussed anything like this yet. Would Saturday be a date? He smiled, knees weak. He knew they both liked each other. That was a plus.
Well, there it is. The first chapter is short, like really short than I wanted to. So, it took more than a year to FINALLY have it the way I wanted it to be. I have countless "first chapters" that I worked on over the year (and I've thrown them away). I have a few pages of "plans" that I've constructed. Sorry it took way longer than it should have.
What do you think is gonna happen next? I'd like to see what's going on this those big imaginations of yours!
