Edward's POV
"... But I do have some bad news... Your wife has gone into a coma caused by blood-loss. She lost over forty percent of her blood." My heart sank. How long would she be in this coma? How could I? I could have stopped this accident by stopping her from going. Tears began to fall as I walked towards a corner wall, to calm me, but my knees lost strength and I collapsed on the ground. Jacob ran over to me and pulled me into an awkward hug along with everyone else... except for Charlie and Carlisle, they stood there, there eyes watering. "I'm sorry. We're not sure how long this coma could last so we are just hoping she will be able to pull threw it on her own... or... she may not survive the accident." My body went numb... please. Don't take her way from me.
"Is she..." I stopped to clear my throat. "Is she in a room? Am I or any of us able to see her?" The doctor nodded.
"Yes, you are able to see her, she's in the ICU because of the coma. So head to room 2-43. I'll be in there soon to check on her." He walked up to me and patted my shoulder. "Be strong Edward. Even though. this may sound weird, this is when Bella needs you the most." I nodded and high-tailed it to Bella's room. As soon as I got to her room I thrust open the door and gasped at the scene. She did look better with the blood cleaned off, but the visible injuries and bruises made it hard. She had a wrap around her head, two casts, one for her arm and the other for her leg. And bandages on her arms, and upper torso and there were bruises on her face. I walked closer, pulling a chair with me to sit next to her.
As soon as I sat down the sound of running feet made their way into the room, followed by gasps when their eyes landed on Bella. I pulled her hand into mine, and gently rubbed it. "Bella..." I cried, my voice going up an octave. "Please... wake up..." The tears ran non-stop, making their way down my face.
None of us left, ever. Other than going to the bathroom and eating food in the cafeteria. It had been a long and frightful week. After my life had been going so great, why must it try to take away something and someone I love with all of my heart? I felt so alone, not being able to hug Bella, to kiss her.. feeling her kiss me back, to tell her 'I love you' and have her answer me. It was now that I thought back to Bella and I's wedding. We were so happy and of course we were still happy now. I just couldn't understand why things always turn bad so quickly. There was one good turn out during this week that her injuries and bruises were healing nicely, her bruises nearly invisible now.
What I would do to hear her sweet angelic voice once again. To see her gorgeous eyes looking into mine. And to feel her skin, her body against mine. I had cried so much that tears had become impossible now. Especially now that it was Christmas Eve. This would be the very first christmas eve that her and I wouldn't be spending together. Together, wrapped in a blanket drinking hot cocoa together. And for the first time in a while, I folded my hands and said a prayer while everyone else was gone in the cafeteria.
"God... Please. I haven't asked you for very much. And now... all I ask his that you bring my wife back to me. I miss her and I need her. Everything was so great, our future was going great. Please don't take her away from me. Bring her back. That's all I ask." I ended my prayer just as everyone came back in.
"How is everything?" Alice asked, patting my shoulder.
"It's the same as before..." I said, looking at her politely. Seth looked at the tv and smiled.
"Here... Let's watch some news." He walked up to the TV and hit the knob. It was the America's morning news.
"Hello America. I'm Kelly Bennett with todays current news. The nearly fatal accident of Izzy Swan, lead singer of Star Dusk has been given a resource and thankfully to the resource the culprit of this crime was arrested last night." All of us looked at each other and then to Bella before looking back at the screen. "The police had received a video surveillance tape from Mr. Tanner, owner of Delectable Treats. The video surveillance had caught the entire accident and culprit. Here is the video. Some of it may be a little to frightening for young children to see." I would finally get to know what happened to her. What happened in this car accident.
It showed Bella's xc60 Volvo slowing to look at a street light to see if it was green. It turned out to be green and Bella pulled out to cross the intersection. Where the camera was you could see the car on the other street begin to speed and sped up and crashed into the side of Bella's car. This camera also has sound as well. The sounds of crunching metal sounded before the sound of screeching tires as the culprit quickly drove away. It looked like Bella was trying to maintain control of her vehicle when another had hit her car on accident. A scream sounded from Bella as her car began to flip. The car had flipped nearly five times. The sounds of crunching glass and people yelling, "Are you alright?!" sounded before the video ended.
The culprit was soon caught nearly a day later by Seattle police. Her name is Kayla Scott. Izzy Swan is, from what we have last heard is in the ICU of a Seattle Hospital. Our prayers go out to them at this time...
Everyone looked at each other and at Bella once more. "She went through all that?" Seth gasped. Tears.. for the first time in days, tears fell and I couldn't help but pray that she would wake.
The bright, white light from the sky shined into the windows threatening to interrupt my beautiful dream. A dream where this car accident had never happened and it was all good. I turned my head to the side and tried to go back to sleep... only for my ears to pick up using their senses and I could hear everyone else talking quietly, whispering, "Merry Christmas" to each other.
It made me smile, hearing everyone laughing quietly and you could almost hear the smiles on their lips from the words they spoke. I realized then that I had fallen asleep with Bella's hand in mine.. and I smiled. I rested, feeling a little happiness begin to bury itself into my mind and body. With the noises though I couldn't find sleep so I got up, went to the bathroom, got some coffee and said Merry Christmas to everyone before sitting back in my chair. I looked into her face, seeing the beautiful woman I had missed so much. I mean of course I had always looked at her, and thought she was beautiful even with all these injuries and bruises.. but sometimes with her looking like this it was hard to look because I could only imagine the pain behind it.
Smiling I figure I might as well say Merry Christmas to, I leaned down, and pressed my lips to Bella's cheek, feeling everyone's eyes watching my intently. After leaving the kiss on her cheek, I lightly touched my forehead to hers, and cupped her cheek lightly in my hand. As I pulled away, eyes closed, I whispered, "Merry Christmas, Love. I love you." I sat back down in my chair and the next thing I heard, astonished me.
"E-Edward..." I gasped, my eyes wide and I looked up. Bella's eyes were open, and the color was coming back to her face. For the first time in a while I thought I had heard the most beautiful sound known to man. Even though her voice was very hoarse... it was beautiful because... it was the voice that told me she was back, she had come back to me. Slowly, wincing she looked at me, and smiled a little. "Edward... where am I? What happened?" The tears once again surfaced, rolling down my cheeks. I stood up really fast and leaned over the bed, pulling her into a hug, being careful to not hug her to tightly. I also placed chaste kisses on her cheek and lips.
"Oh Bella!" I sniffled. "I'm so glad. We're together again right? You promise?" I asked, my voice cracking slightly.
She smiled and nodded, "Of course. I promise." She laughed hoarsely "Now... what.. what did I miss?"
"They found the person who put you here Bella and locked her away. They came to take her away haha!" Emmet exclaimed quietly, getting Bella to laugh.
When the doctors and nurses came in they were astonished. "It's truly a Christmas Miracle!" Alice cheered as the doctors left and announced that they would only keep Bella two more days to be safe before we could finally go back home.
