The group found a small table to sit and began to reorganize. Behind them is the busy section of Times Square. Billboards and signs flash, even in daylight. Double D looked through his notepad and began to take more notes. "Well we have the key components to our return," he says.
"Wont someone throw away a large piece of cardboard in the park?" Sarah asked. Double D fumbled in his pocket and took out a small folded piece of cardboard.
"I made sure to pack it up with us along the way," he pointed out.
"Where to next sock head?" Eddy asked.
"Well. We need a way to build a new catapult to launch us into the sky. Preferably we need to get to a hardware store."
"We have no money!" Eddy shouted. A group of adults looked at him. "What are you looking at?" The adults shrugged and went back to their business.
"Maybe this can help? Plank found it" Johnny said handing them a flyer. The flyer read "Antonucci Hardware".
"Perfect!" Double D exclaimed. He looked down and saw a map of the location. It is nestled in the neighborhood of Little Italy. "All we must do is take the subway to this location and get what we need." "Before you point out our lack of funds there is a way around this."
"Will this work Double D?" Ed asked. He looked into a bathroom mirror and inspected his face. They snatched up an abandoned coat and fedora from the subway station floor.
"Trust us!" he said. "Okay everyone. In the basket." They also managed to swipe an old fashioned baby stroller.
"I can't believe we are sinking this low," Kevin said shaking his head. Ed picked everyone up and stuffed them into the strolled. He picked up a blanket and covered the opening so nobody would see.
"Use this to pay for the fare," Double D handed Ed a few dollars and coins. He walked over to the ticket station and purchased a day pass for the train. "Now we wait." A few minuets pass and from the depths of the tunnel the subway roared its horn. It came to halt at the platform and Ed boarded the train. He found an empty section and sat down.
"Everyone all right?" he asked.
"Cramped" Jimmy said.
"I can't feel my legs" Nazz complained. The train began to move and picked up its speed.
"Times Square to Little Italy. Times Square to Little Italy" the announcer said in a muffled voice. Ed had nothing much to do now but to just sit and wait. He looked around at all the other adults sitting nearby.
"Hi" a husky voice said sitting next to Ed. It is an older woman in sunglasses and an old fur coat. "Is it hard being a single father?" she asked Ed. He began to sweat nervously and tugged at his shirt.
"Um." She pulled out a pack of mint gum and began to chew it. Her unruly blonde hair was fashioned to look similar to a 50's movie star.
"Little Italy next stop. Little Italy next stop," the announcer said. The train began to slow and grounded to a halt. Ed got up and took the others with him. The older woman batted her eyelash and winked at him. After resurfacing he took off the coat and hat. He lifted up the stroller and dumped everyone onto the street.
"Look at all the cheese!" Ed observed looking at the outside markets.
"Remind me never to go near Rolf's armpit again" Eddy said combing his hair.
"There it is!" Double D pointed out. A large sign said "Antonucci Hardware." "If they where to dispose of any unwanted merchandise it would be in that alley." The group moved into the alley and saw a treasure trove of supplies.
"You're a genius!" Eddy yelled. They sorted through the piles of hardware.
"We will be back home in no time!" Double D said. The back door opened and everyone turned their heads.
"Stealing my merchandise huh?" a large man with a thick accent said. His dark eyes looked menacingly at the kids. "Thief's don't get away from me. I don't take prisoners."
