Haylirain woke up with a mission. Novalee and her had made up over the weekend and Hayli had sworn to herself that she would make everything up to Nova. Yesterday the girls had come to the conclusion that Kyo, Yuki and Tohru were hiding something. Hayli vowed that she was going to find out what it was. She had already dressed in a black tank top, the school uniform skirt and black boots. She had kept it simple, to blend in easier but without arousing suspicion. She was already downstairs and eating breakfast by the time that Nova was up. The girls had discussed figuring out the Sohma's secret, but Nova was unaware of how far Hayli was willing to go to find out.
Haylirain already had a plan going into school. Her main focus was going to be Kyo. Tohru seemed to know the secret but not always what was going on around her. Yuki was too risky, too calm all the time. There was no way he was going to give up any information. Kyo was smart, but quick to anger. If she could make him angry just enough he could slip up. She needed to handle it delicately though, as to not get caught.
She stayed quiet most of the day, simply observing the students around her. During lunch she met up with Nova and Shui. According to Nova, the Sohma's and Tohru were still acting strange but she was unable to get anything from them. Shui told the girls more about her ability to read auras. It seemed almost boring for her but surreal to the twins. Lately everything was. Back when they were in the United States the girls would talk to other people, who mostly complained about everything that they could. These people weren't friends though. Hayli and Nova had to rely on each other. When things got to bad at home they had moved to Japan. It had its ups and downs, but the twins were closer than ever. Hayli was going to make sure that it stayed that way.
Hayli kept a close eye on Kyo the rest of the day waiting for her chance to get him alone. It wasn't until the end of the school day that she got her chance. Kyo, Yuki and Tohru were leaving the classroom when she approached them with an innocent smile. "Kyo, could I talk to you please?"
The orange haired boy looked surprised, looking at the other two for confirmation. "Actually, i-"
"Now." She demanded, not leaving an opportunity for protest, she grabbed his hand, leading him away.
"Hayli, whats going on?" Kyo urged.
She stopped down an empty hallway before turning towards him and trapping him between her and the wall. "I know you are hiding something." She said, narrowing her big blue eyes and leaning forward, her tone serious.
Kyo was unable to hide his shock. "I...I...I don't know what you're talking about!" He looked away, his face flushing.
"I'm not stupid Kyo and I know that you're not either so don't pretend to be." She retorted, stepping closer. There was little space between their bodies now as she glared up at him.
Kyo had been looking everywhere but at her until she stepped closer. His eyes locked with hers. "You need to stop meddling in things you know nothing about." He growled, venom coating each word.
The shock caused her to step back. This was a new side of Kyo, but she wasn't going to give up. She stepped forward again, even closer to him and he pushed her back. It wasn't hard enough to hurt her, but enough to make her stumble backward, losing her balance. She reached for something to grab on and managed to catch his arm. Her eyes caught his. They weren't filled with surprise, instead it was panic. Hayli fell hard on her butt and slammed her eyes shut, bracing for Kyo landing on her. There was a soft thump. She opened her eyes. Instead of an awkward orange haired teenage boy there was a cute orange cat. Kyo was nowhere to be seen. Her eyes narrowed on the cat. She saw his muscles tighten and he jumped off her lap, preparing to make his escape down the hallway. Throwing her body to the side she grabbed the cat before he could run off. The cat turned, glaring daggers at her and attempted to wiggle free of her grasp. Hayli wasn't having it. This cat was somehow connected to Kyo. It had to be. Between Nova's story and now this, she could feel it. Readjusting her grip, she made sure the cat wouldn't escape. She stood up, ignoring the wiggling cat, and looked around. Kyo was gone, but he couldn't have gone too far. That's when she noticed it, the male school uniform laying on the ground. She was positive that hadn't been there earlier. She leaned over to pick it up and that's when the cat managed to squirm free and drop to the floor. It hit the ground and there was a large orange puff of smoke. Through the smoke she could make out orange hair, a strong jawline and a toned chest. He looked at her with sad amber eyes. The cat was gone now and Kyo was in its place. She made a connection in her mind that couldn't possibly be true. They stared at each other for a long moment and she knew that he knew that she knew the secret he had been hiding.
In a moment he had closed the space between them. "You cant tell anyone! You need to forget this and forget me!" He shouted. His voice was angry, but his eyes were pleading. He was terrified. Hayli couldn't respond. All she could do was stare into those fearful amber eyes.
