"Holly, I...I..." The Mud Boy sighed. "I think I'm gay."
At this Holly's jaw dropped open. "And why exactly do you think this?"
"Well, none of the girls I have ever met in my entire life have taken a romantic interest in me. I guess my...body...thinks it's time to try males."
Holly's jaw-dropped, wide-eyed stare turned into a jaw-closed, cold-eyed stare. It took Artemis a second to figure out why. Then realization slapped him in the face. And realization wasn't soft about it.
"Holly..." The shocked boy trailed off.
"If it was a troll, you'd be dead.", Holly snapped. "Not only dead, but your Frond damn bones would've disintegrated by now."
"How long–"
"Since Rathdown Park. When we kissed, I finally realized I loved you. Too bad it was for nothing."
At this, Holly turned on her heel and started walking fast toward the house.
"Holly!", Artemis called. "Wait!"
