A/N: I know, I know, I've been gone for way too long again but I've been busy with midterms so… FORGIVE ME PLEASE.
Chapter 10
"Are we really about to do this?" Hermione asked the four excited girls in the Cullen living room. Alice looked at Hermione with a smile that looked as though it would split her face in half.
"Of course! We have to show Jacob how big of a mistake he just made, and there's no better way to do that than making you smoking hot!" Hermione rolled her eyes before the girls shared a laugh. Suddenly, the sound of a clanking truck approached the home, garnering everyone's attention. Rosalie and Hermione looked at each other in annoyance in preparation for what was to come, Alice rolled her eyes with a knowing expression, and Ginny and Luna looked at the others in confusion. Finally, there was an impatient knock on the door which Alice walked over to answer. Upon opening the door, Bella quickly rushed in and looked around before spotting the other girls in the living room. She turned to Alice with an eyebrow quirked in silent question to which Alice sighed.
"He's not here. He and the other boys are with Hermione's guy friends playing baseball." Alice replied. Bella groaned before setting her eyes on the other girls who stared back.
"What's going on here?"
Hermione placed a fake smile on her face before answering. "Oh, why don't I introduce you to my friends? Bella, this is Ginny and Luna, Ginny, Luna, this is Bella."
Ginny and Luna smiled kindly at Bella to which Bella quirked an eyebrow at. "Right… Anyway, that still doesn't answer my question." Ginny's and Luna's smiles disappeared. Hermione's smile tightened but was still yet to disappear.
"Well, you see, the girls are giving me a makeover since Jacob and I got into a fight. They apparently want to 'show him how big of a mistake he made'."
Bella snorted. "Well that's going to take some work." Bella then turned and began walking towards the door. "He has standards." She whispered to herself before walking out and slamming the door. However, everyone was able to hear her personal comment.
Hermione looked to Ginny who looked as red as a tomato, ready to burst. "Who the hell does that bitch think she is!" Hermione placed a hand on her friend's shoulder.
"Don't worry, Ginny. Let's just forget about her." Ginny looked as though she was about to continue but with the pleading look in Hermione's eyes, she softened before nodding.
"Ok, moving on. How are we going to go about this makeover?" Luna asked Alice and Rosalie who were now smirking at her question.
"Oh, you'll see. We have quite the hand for this sort of thing." Rosalie replied.
"Remind me of what game we're playing again." Ron said as he struggled to catch up with the others.
Harry rolled his eyes. "I've told you about a thousand times. We're playing baseball." Draco tilted his head.
"Baseball? What the bloody hell is that?" Draco inquired. The Cullen men all stopped and looked at Draco, as well as Ron, incredulously.
"You two don't know what baseball is?" Jasper asked with eyebrows lifted.
"We've said no too many times to count. Will one of you just tell us what it is and how to play the bloody game?" Draco said while impatiently tapping his foot.
"Well, it's the American pastime and only the best sport in the world." Emmett replied with a smirk, swinging his bat back and forth for practice.
Ron snorted. "Well, you, my friend, have obviously not played Quidditch before." Draco and Harry froze while the Cullens looked questioningly at the three of them.
"Quidditch?" Carlisle said in an inquiring tone. Ron, realizing his mistake, tensed and widened his eyes. Draco, with his quick thinking skills, came to the rescue.
"Oh, it's nothing. We just made a game called Quidditch when we were younger and honestly, it wasn't even that great of a game. It seems as though Weasel here is still stuck in his childish past." Draco said as he and Ron glared at one another. "Anyway, why don't we get along with this game? How do you play?"
"Oh, you'll see, but we have to warn you, we have quite the hand for this sort of game." Edward stated almost challengingly.
"Now, now, we can't give them the unfair disadvantage." Carlisle said to the competitive boys. "I'll be the umpire and catcher for both teams. Emmett, Harry, and Draco will be one team. Jasper, Edward, and Ron will be the other." Everyone nodded and the Cullens went ahead, leaving the wizards to talk amongst themselves.
"I want you boys to play safe. Play as human." Carlisle ordered. Once the Cullen men were a safe distance away, Harry, Ron, and Draco turned to each other.
"What do we do if they use their vampire strength on us? I want to win this thing." Ron said with determination.
Harry shook his head and rolled his eyes. "Ron, they won't use their vampire abilities on us. They think we're muggles, remember?"
"Yeah, but that still doesn't mean they can't beat us. I say we use silent spells. They have an advantage, why don't we use ours?" Draco suggested to the group. They all smirked in agreement before going to catch up with the others.
Emmett went to bat first, Japer, Edward, and Ron at first, second, and third base respectively. "Ron, just try to catch the ball if it comes to you." Jasper instructed, Ron only nodding in response.
"Haven't you forgotten something?" said a deep voice from the trees. All heads turned to the voice and out walked the pack. "You're missing a pitcher." Sam said as he stared at the empty pitching mound.
Jacob glared at Draco, teeth bared, as he spoke. "This looks like quite the pathetic game. Maybe we can help with that."
Carlisle looked at the other Cullens, worried by Jacob's maniacal act. "What are you boys doing here?" The pack began to approach the group, who were now gathered at home base, with Sam leading.
Upon reaching the group, Sam spoke. "We were supposed to meet for training. Have you forgotten?" The Cullens looked confused for a second before realization dawned. "Well, now that we're all here, how about a game?" Silence ensued as the Cullens and wizards considered the option. Jacob, cranky and growing impatient, looked Draco in the eye before smirking menacingly.
"Are you scared?"
Draco glowered at Jacob's amused expression. Unwilling to let the latter wound his pride, Draco spoke, "Let's play."
The pack, except for Leah and Seth, went to the field, Jacob heading to the pitcher's mound, as the Cullens and Harry, Ron, and Draco went to bat. Leah went to act as umpire while Seth as the catcher. Draco grabbed the bat from Emmett, who was getting ready to bat, and walked up to home plate. "Malfoy, you sure you want to go first? You barely know how to play." Harry asked Draco, but the latter could not hear him as he and Jacob were having a silent battle with their glares.
"Don't hold back." Draco stated tauntingly, however, his face was devoid of emotion. Jacob cracked his knuckles before picking up the baseball. Suddenly, the ball was whipped at Draco at an incredible speed. Everyone was shocked as they had not expected Jacob to use his wolf strength. However, Draco, with his keen eye from being a seeker, sought the ball and swung the bat. The reverberating sound from the contact was deafening. Everyone looked in awe as the ball flew over the trees and out of sight. Draco still stood at home plate, dusting imaginary dust off of his T-shirt.
Harry, being the first to awaken from shock, rolled his eyes at Malfoy's nonchalant act. "Next time, run." He spoke loudly. "You can't expect to get a homerun every time."
Draco turned to look at his fellow wizard and teammate, smirking all the while. "Malfoys don't run." He picked up the bat once again with a haughty expression on his face. Jacob glared at him, determination etched across his face. The field was quiet in anticipation as Jacob brought his arms up and threw the ball, faster than before. Draco aligned the bat with the ball and the clank indicated that he had hit the ball. However, the strength from the throw led Draco's hit to be slightly weak. In the outfield, Paul ran towards the ball and deftly caught it. Draco, who had been examining his fingernails almost in a bored manner, looked up as the pack erupted in cheers. Upon realization of what happened, he began cursing and threw his bat to the ground as he walked towards his team.
Harry smirked amusedly. "What was it that you said before? 'Malfoys don't run'?"
Ron, not wanting to be upstaged by Malfoy, briskly walked to the plate and grabbed the bat. "My turn." The Cullens watched intently and the pack got ready, anticipating another good batter. On the other hand, Harry placed his head in his hands while Draco smirked, both knowing what was to come. Jacob threw a hard pitch causing Ron to falter slightly but still, he held his stance with confidence. At the last minute, Ron swung. Having swung too hard, the weight of the metal bat tugged him to the ground where he now lay in a tangle of his own limbs. Everyone, except for Draco, ran to him in an effort to help. Malfoy stood alone, far from the group, laughing with tears.
"That's what you get for trying too hard." Draco, as he wiped the miniscule amount of tears from his eyes, said to the now standing and embarrassed Ron.
Jacob, having had enough of him, ran over to Malfoy and punched him in the face. "That's what you get for being a prick!"
"Jacob! What is wrong with you?" Leah screamed. Draco was now cradling his cheek, smirking as the others looked at Jacob ashamedly. Jacob looked to the group before growling and running to the woods. The pack and the Cullens knew he had gone to change to his wolf form.
Carlisle walked over to Draco and began examining his left cheek. "It seems as though you were hit pretty hard. You're bleeding and it seems like you're forming a bruise. Let's go back to our house to clean you up." Everyone nodded and began to walk towards the direction of the Cullen house.
"So Malfoy, how does it feel to get punched for the second time in your life?" Harry asked with a cheeky grin.
Draco glared at him. "It hurts like a bitch, bitch."
Alice gasped and dropped the brush that was in her hand. The other girls looked at her worriedly. "Alice, what's wrong?" Hermione asked, but she already knew what had just happened. She met Ginny's and Luna's eyes and could tell that they knew too; Alice had a vision.
"I, uh- nothing. It was nothing." Alice said before picking up the brush and brushing through the last of Hermione's hair. She set the brush down before taking a step back to admire her work. "Oh, Hermione. You look beautiful!" The other girls also stepped back and gasped at the sight.
"Hermione, you look bloody freaking gorgeous! Wait 'till that Jacob bloke sees you." Ginny exclaimed as she grabbed Hermione's arm and squeezed it hard enough to nearly pop it.
"Guys, I'm not so sure this is such a good plan anymore. It just seems like I'm desperate to get Jacob back." Hermione said while biting her lip in doubt.
"Wait, I thought you were desperate to get Jacob back." Luna stated causing Alice, Rosalie, and Ginny to groan.
"Here we go." Rosalie said while she rolled her eyes.
"I most certainly am not! I can do just fine without a man in my life, especially one who gets jealous over petty things!" Everyone, even Hermione, knew that she was lying but no one mentioned it.
"I hate to say this Hermione, but if a half-naked man walked down my girlfriend's staircase then I would be angry too. Now, I'm not saying that what he did or said was justifiable. Yeah, he overreacted but that's hardly a 'petty thing'. So, talk to him and clear the air." Ginny stated apologetically.
Hermione sighed. "You're right, I should talk to him; but do I really have to talk to him like this?" She pointed to her getup.
"Hey, Ginny may have talked you into speaking with Jacob but that doesn't mean you can't look hot while doing so." Alice stated as she dragged Hermione to the nearby full length mirror.
Hermione looked at herself and her eyebrows rose. There she stood in a pair of blue, high-waisted shorts; a white, laced tee with sleeves reaching her elbows; and her normal white converse (A/N: outfit on my profile). Her hair had been made wavy and laid against her back up to her waist. Her face held minimal makeup with some mascara, eyeliner, and blush. She turned to the others who were all grinning widely at her. "I look exactly the same."
"Oh, on the contrary, my dear. You are what we call, casual hot. You're gorgeous blue eyes are accentuated, you're hair looks natural yet beautiful, and you're legs are looking pretty sexy in those shorts." Rosalie explained, causing the girls to break into laughter. Suddenly, the vampires in the room froze as the smell of blood hit their nostrils. Hermione's eyebrows furrowed and she strained her ears to listen to what was approaching.
"Jacob must be really beaten up over Hermione. I've never seen him become so angry before." Jasper stated to the others in the car. The others silently agreed.
"Of course he is. He had just gotten into a fight with his imprint. Maybe Alice underestimated the fight that went on between the two if Jacob is really this angry." Edward replied. Again, there was silent agreement. Hermione's eyebrows furrowed even more. Imprint? Behind the Cullens, Hermione heard the sound of another car approaching.
"That mutt; how dare he hit me!" Draco exclaimed as he clenched his cheek.
Ron rolled his eyes. "Shut up, Malfoy! No one wants to hear your bloody whining."
"Do you know what I don't understand?" Harry interrupted. The other boys stared questioningly at the boy who was driving. "Hermione has been here for only a few months yet Jacob acts as though Hermione is his soul mate. I just don't understand how that's possible." The group remained silent for the rest of the ride as they pulled up to the Cullen house.
Alice walked outside and frowned at the sight that met her. The Cullen men looked anxious, Harry and Ron looked curious, and Draco looked greatly annoyed as he held his bloodied cheek. Turning back to the girls in the house, Alice asked, "Hermione, can you get an ice pack from the freezer?" Hermione nodded before walking away towards the kitchen. Turning back to the boys, Alice rolled her eyes and walked back inside, knowing the others would follow her. When reaching the living room, Carlisle sat Draco down and went upstairs to grab his medical kit.
"What the hell happened to you, Malfoy?" Ginny inquired while holding in a laugh. "Couldn't take a simple game of baseball?"
Draco glared angrily at Ginny. "For your information, Hermione's dumb boyfriend did this to me. That kid is really starting to get on my nerves."
"Kid? He's the same age as us, Malfoy. If you call him a kid then you're also a child." Ron scoffed. At this moment, Hermione walked in with an ice pack in her hand. She began to walk over to the group of boys who stared in awe as she approached. Upon reaching Draco, she took the hand that held his cheek and slapped the ice pack hard against his face. This seemed to wake up the group.
Draco allowed his eyes to travel quickly down and up Hermione's body before meeting her eyes with a glare. Hermione quirked an eyebrow at his actions. "What?" Draco asked nonchalantly. "I can't help it. It's the nature of a man."
Hermione began chuckling at his words. "Did Jacob's punch hit your brain or have you just gone mad?" The Cullens looked curiously at Hermione.
"How did you know that Jacob hit Draco?" Edward inquired. "I don't think we told you about it." Everyone stared intently at Hermione, waiting for her reply. Pasting an awkward smile on her face, Hermione replied.
"Oh, I simply just heard Malfoy's pathetic whining." Everyone laughed at Hermione's comment except for Draco who simply grumbled to himself.
"So, what do you think of Hermione? Oh Ron, doesn't she look hot!" Ginny squealed. Ron blushed his signature crimson red and looked down at his feet.
"Uh, yeah, you look nice, Hermione."
Hermione quirked an eyebrow. "I look nice? Geez Ron, I'm your friend not your sister. Cut me some slack for once." She said jokingly. Surprisingly, Ron became even redder than before.
"Just ignore the bloke, Hermione." Harry said with a smile. "You look beautiful." Hermione smiled brightly at her best friend.
"Yeah." Emmett stated as he pointed two finger guns at Hermione. "You're looking good." At this, everyone began laughing.
"Well, thanks for the compliments, but I've got to head out." Hermione said before turning and walking towards the door.
"Wait, Hermione. Where are you going?" Rosalie asked. Hermione turned to the former girl and smirked slyly.
"I'm going see Jacob."
Hermione walked across the dirt of the forest quickly, not caring if her shoes became dirty. As she continued to walk, she slowed and her confidence began to fade. What if he doesn't care anymore? She thought to herself. Hermione shook her head to rid herself of these thoughts. No, she will not be so pessimistic. Suddenly, the breaking of a twig sounded to the left of her. Not a second later, the smell of a werewolf hit her. In curiosity, Hermione began to walk silently in the direction of the smell. It was at moments like this where she was glad that she had no scent. Hermione came across a clearing and her eyes landed on a tanned figure whom she recognized to be Jacob. As she came closer, Hermione recognized something else: he was butt naked.
Upon this realization, she gasped, catching Jacob's attention. Jacob, seeing his imprint's face, also gasped and ran as quickly as he could towards her. "Hermione!" He yelled before hugging her tightly. "I'm so sorry for everything! I was acting stupid and pathetically jealous. I really had no right to say anything about your life and your friends. I'm really sorry and it won't happen again so please give me a second chance. You probably hate me but, I promise that I will do anything for y-," Hermione slapped her hand over Jacob's mouth before he could continue. She smiled kindly at Jacob.
"Jacob, I forgive you. You were jealous, it happens. Even though you were a little harsh with your words-," At this, Jacob looked away from Hermione ashamedly. Hermione placed a finger under his chin and brought his gaze back to her. "I could never really hate you. I like you, Jacob. I really do." Jacob smiled brightly at Hermione's words and brought her into his arms once again. "Now, as much as I'd like to stay in this position, I would rather have you put on some clothes first."
Jacob let go of Hermione and looked at her curiously. "What do you mean?" Hermione raised an eyebrow and pointed downward, trying not to look at anything. Jacob followed the direction of her finger. It seemed as though he had never seen his own body before because Jacob gasped loudly and began freaking out before running behind a bush. Hermione chuckled to herself as the bush began to rustle. Once Jacob came out fully clothed, Hermione and Jacob began walking hand in hand towards La Push.
"Jacob?" Hermione said as she looked off into the now setting sun. Jacob turned and looked questioningly at his imprint. "Don't ever do that again." She said sternly. Jacob remained silent for a few seconds before chuckling quietly.
"Yes, ma'am."
Jacob grabbed the doorknob to his front door and turned it. Hermione and Jacob came face to face with the entire pack. At first, there was silence. However, the pack stared down at the two's intertwined hands, at Hermione and Jake's face, and then back to their hands. Suddenly, they erupted in cheers and began saying a slew of things that no one could understand. "Ugh, finally!"
"Woohoo! Go Jake!"
"Huh, two days. That has to be a record for something."
"Yes! I've missed her food."
"Alright, alright. We get it." Jacob said loudly, quieting the rowdy group. He smiled at Hermione. "It's great to have you back."
Hermione laughed. "Of course it is."
"Anyway, what are you all doing in my house? And where's my dad?"
Sam walked up to Jacob and clapped his back. "You're dad went over to Chief Swan's place. We just came here so that we could calm you when you got back, but by the looks of it," He turned to Hermione and smirked. "Someone has already tamed you."
Jake chuckled and squeezed Hermione's hand. "You got that right. I can always count on Hermione to be there for me, for eternity."
Hermione raised an eyebrow and looked at Jacob seriously. "Jacob, we've only known each other for a few months." The pack, realizing the sudden shift in mood, turned away and made themselves busy. Jacob frowned at Hermione's tone and pulled her softly to the door. He opened the front door and guided her out, closing the door softly, almost fearfully. He turned to Hermione, looked back at the house where the pack rested, and grabbed Hermione's hand to lead her towards the beach. Once they were a safe distance away from the house, Jacob turned to look at his imprint.
Hermione couldn't bring herself to look Jacob in the eyes and instead distracted herself with her hands. It wasn't until Jacob took her tiny hands in his large ones when Hermione looked up. Jacob's eyes bore sadly and curiously into hers. "Hermione, what's wrong."
Hermione stared deeply into Jacob's eyes, looking for anything other than sadness or curiosity, and what she saw frightened her. She saw compassion, worry, and love. She sighed. "Jacob." He looked at Hermione questioningly, waiting for her to continue. "Don't you ever think we're going too fast?" Jacob's eyebrows furrowed.
"What do you mean?" Harry's words from before ran through Hermione's head, making her sigh once more.
"What I mean, Jacob, is that we've only known each other for about three months, we've never been on an actual date, and yet you say that we'll be together for eternity. It all just seems a little fast. This is hardly the long, stereotypical relationship portrayed in movies." Jacob stood still, contemplating her words, before smiling lightly.
"Don't you understand anything, Hermione?" Jacob inquired to the now confused girl in front of him. He chuckled quietly. "Geez, I thought you had all the knowledge in the world inside that head of yours." At this, Hermione opened her mouth to protest but Jacob quickly laid his hand above to close it. "Hermione, our relationship is hardly the stereotypical one in movies. Only boring couples follow that stupid, unspoken rule that all relationships should be like that. No, ours is a real, genuine love story. Now, I know that it may seem fast to you, heck, it even seems fast to me now that I think about it, but there's no minimum or maximum time limit in relationships. Let's just see where this goes, hm?"
Hermione stared at Jacob intently, making him slightly nervous, before smiling. "Alright." Jacob's face broke into an ear to ear grin, making Hermione laugh.
"Okay, let's head back." Jacob said while taking Hermione's hand. "I'll see you tomorrow."
Hermione looked at Jacob questioningly. "Tomorrow?" Jacob nodded before quirking eyebrow.
"Have you forgotten?" Hermione looked even more confused than before, making Jacob chuckle. "It's going to be our first actual date." Hermione smiled and leaned her head against Jacob's shoulder. "Oh, did I mention that you look really hot?"
"Ugh, Hermione, you look so gorgeous that I might just shed a tear!" Alice began jumping in place from excitement. Alice, Rosalie, Ginny, Luna, and Hermione were all currently in Hermione's bedroom compiling the perfect date outfit.
Hermione laughed loudly. "Alice, what the heck." In truth, Hermione thought she looked quite nice herself. She was wearing a simple red, off- shoulder dress that went to mid-thigh. She was wearing black pumps and had a black clutch to match. Her hair was tied up into an elegant bun and a small, silver necklace adorned her neck.
"What? You look hot, Hermione." Ginny said while high-fiving Rosalie.
"Yes, you see," Rosalie continued. "This is what we like to call simply elegant. It's not too much, but not too little. It's basically the perfect balance between looking sexy but not too trashy." The entire group of girls laughed.
"So, where's he taking you?" Luna asked. "You're not going to do dirty things, right?"
Hermione's eyes widened. "What?" The girls all looked at Luna strangely.
"You better not do anything dirty; I got those shoes for an expensive price. Don't get them dirty, Hermione Granger." The others sighed in relief.
While laughing, Hermione replied, "No, of course not. At least, I don't thinks so. Jacob wouldn't tell me where we are going, saying it was 'a surprise'." Suddenly, a presence made itself known within Hermione's wards. Knowing it was Jacob, she couldn't help but smile widely. At that moment, Harry walked in.
"Hello ladies. How's everything going?"
Hermione smiled at her best friend. "Everything's fine, Harry, but can you do me a favor?" She waited for him to nod before continuing. "Can you take Ronald and Malfoy outside through the back door? I don't want them to mess anything up." Harry laughed and jokingly saluted before walking away.
At the very moment when the boys left the house, the doorbell rang as if it were like clockwork. Ginny squealed. "When you come back, you're telling me every single detail. Got it?" Ginny was now an inch from Hermione's face, giving the latter girl only enough room to nod. "Now, go get him!"
Hermione, knowing Jacob could hear everything that was going on in the house, tried to walk at a pace that made her seem cool and collected when in reality, she was jumping for joy on the inside. Upon reaching the door, she quickly fixed her hair and pulled down her dress before opening it. Jacob and Hermione stared at one another, looked down at each other's outfits, and smiled back at the other. "You look incredible, Hermione." Jacob said with adoring eyes roaming her body.
Hermione laughed. "Well, thank you. You look quite dashing yourself." Jacob stood in an all grey suit that fit him perfectly. In his hand, he held a single rose which he now held out to Hermione. Taking the rose and Jacob's outstretched arm, the two exited the home and began walking down the driveway. Suddenly, Jacob stopped.
"Oh shoot." Hermione looked at Jacob curiously. "I guess I didn't really think this one out." Hermione turned to where Jacob was looking and found herself staring at Jake's motorcycle. Hermione looked down at her outfit and then back at the motorcycle. She chuckled to herself. Sorry, Luna. With that, she climbed onto the backseat and looked to Jacob who was now staring at her incredulously.
"Well, are you coming or are you just going to stand there like a blubbering idiot?"
Hermione jumped off of the motorcycle gracefully and looked at the restaurant in front of her. "Italian?" Jacob took Hermione's hand and smiled before nodding and bringing her inside.
"Table for two, please." Jacob stated to the man at the front. Based on everyone's elegant clothing and the fancy decoration of the restaurant, Hermione could tell that this place was expensive. This only made her wish even more that she would be able to enjoy the food.
"Jacob," Hermione began as the two sat down and looked through the menu. "This place is too expensive. You don't have to spend so much money on this date, honestly."
Jacob shook his head. "Nonsense; this is our first date, it has to be special." Hermione smiled at the genuine tone in his voice and turned back to the menu. She quickly scoped out the cheapest item on the menu and both relayed their orders to the waiter.
The table was silent and Hermione could tell that Jacob was nervous. "So," she said, catching the attention of the man across from her. "What should we do? I've never really gone on an actual date before." She smiled shyly.
Jacob laughed. "Well, this may be a shocker, but neither have I. Well, not one that really mattered anyway."
Hermione let out an exaggerated gasp. "What? A handsome man such as yourself has never been on a date? That's outrageous." Jacob nodded.
"I know right." The two laughed together. Jacob sipped his water, but not nervously as he would've done before. "Well, we could always start off this date with the stereotypical, movie-like talk of getting to know each other that you're such a fan of. Why don't we try it?"
"Ok then. Mr. Black, what are some of your hobbies?"
"Hm." Jake dramatically tapped his finger against his chin. "Well, I enjoy fixing up cars, motorcycles, etc. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and, of course, you. Now tell me Ms. Granger, what do you like to do?
"Hm." Hermione also dramatically tapped her chin. "What do I like to do? Well, I love to read and learn, I enjoy playing the piano but I hardly have the time anymore, and you're not so bad of company either, Mr. Black, so I would say that I enjoy your company as well." Jake smiled at Hermione's response. "Now, I have a question that you have to answer honestly."
Jacob sat back and nodded. "Go ahead."
"Well, you said before that this is the first date that you've been on that actually mattered, which means that you have been on a date, or multiple dates, before. Who was it?"
Jake's smile faltered slightly and he cleared his throat. "Oh look, the food's here." At that very moment, their waiter came with a dish in each hand. "Let's eat." Jacob quickly grabbed his fork and filled his mouth with a giant meatball. Hermione chuckled and ate a piece of steak. She would let him change the subject only because she knew who the former girl was. Bella.
"Jacob, where the hell are we going?" Hermione said as she grasped onto Jacob's arm. She was currently blindfolded and had no idea where she was going. Suddenly, they both abruptly stopped and Hermione could feel the motion of going upward. "Jacob, are we in an elevator?"
"Shh, my dear lady, it will all be revealed in due time." Jacob said.
Silence ensued before Hermione interrupted. "What the bloody hell was that?" Jacob chuckled.
"I have no idea. I saw it in a movie once. What do you think? Was it mysterious yet romantic?" Hermione sighed before smiling.
"Mr. Black, please don't ever say that again." They both laughed until the elevator dinged and Hermione could hear the sound of the doors opening. Suddenly, she was hit with a breeze, but she could not tell if it was cool or warm due to her vampire traits. Believing that she was cold, Jake took off his coat and placed it on Hermione's shoulders. Hermione smiled gratefully at Jacob even though she wasn't cold at all.
"Ok, you ready?" Jake said as he brought Hermione outside of the elevator and walked her a few steps forward. Hermione anxiously nodded and the blindfold was taken off, causing Hermione to gasp. In front of her laid a beautiful view of evening Seattle from hundreds of feet above. The lights from windows and moving cars combined with the dark of the night created a mosaic-like scene that Hermione could not stop staring at. She turned to Jacob who looked at her, anticipating her reaction. "So, what do you think?"
Hermione smiled and turned back to the view. "It's amazing. I've always planned on coming to the Space Needle but I never had the time. I'm glad that I was able to come here with you." Jacob walked up behind Hermione and placed both arms around Hermione's waist. Hermione turned to find that Jacob's face was only inches away from her. The two stared at each other's eyes, the passion of the moment enveloping them in a thick blanket of warmth. It was this passion that brought the two unknowingly closer together until only centimeters remained between their lips. There was a pause as both Hermione and Jacob wondered if this was the right moment, the absolute right moment, and not a second later, the two closed their eyes and brought themselves closer until they finally met. The kiss was simple and sweet, but yet, it was filled with such affection and love that the two could not explain. Their surroundings melted away instantly and at that moment, it was only the two of them in each other's arms.
