February 14th, 1991
Dear Daddy,
Happy Valentine's Day! Mommy and I sent you your Valentine's Day cards! One is from me, and the other is from Mommy! I hope you like my card! It took me a really long time to make it! Before Mommy sealed up the envelope with her card in it, she stuck something in it. When I asked her what it was, she blushed and said it was a secret. She told me it was for "adult eyes only"...whatever that means!
I had my Valentine's Day party in school today! It was fun! Mommy and a lot of the other kids' mommies came and helped. We had red punch that Johnny's mommy brought. Erica's mommy is a baker, and she brought these super yummy cupcakes with red frosting and pink hearts on them!
Next, we got to decorate our Valentine's Day bag! That's the bag everyone puts the valentines in. Mommy helped me, and it turned out really pretty! Mommy drew hearts all over it with these really pretty silver pen she had in her purse, and she even drew what she called a cupid on it. Mommy says cupids fly around with their bow and arrow and shoot people with their arrows to make them fall in love. She said that's what happened when she met you for the first time! Then, she wrote my name in big fancy letters! It looked amazing, Daddy!
After everyone finished with their Valentine's Day bag, everyone got to go around and deliver their valentines! Mommy went around holding the bag all my valentines were in and helped me match up the names on the valentines to the names on the bag. It took a while, but I finally got everyone's delivered! The valentines I gave out were super cool! They were had Scooby-Doo on them, and they said "Scooby-Doo says, 'I love you!'" Mommy and I taped a Kit-Kat onto them, too! Everyone in my class LOVES Kit-Kats!
Once everyone was back at their desks, we got to open all of valentines! I got a lot them! Most of them had candy attached to them, like lollipops and Snickers and Babe Ruths, but a few of them had stickers with them. My favorite was the owl sticker I got from Maddie's valentine! There's this really pretty owl on it with glasses, and it says "Whooo loves you? I doooo!" I also got this Scooby-Doo valentine that jusy said "From: Your Secret Admirer" on it. It even had a piece of my favorite candy, Smarties, on it! Mommy says that means someone likes me...that's just...weird! That kind of stuff's for grown-ups, like you and Mommy!
The talent show is tomorrow, and I'm really getting nervous! I've been practicing a lot! I hope I do okay!
I miss you a lot! I love you so, so much, Daddy! Happy Valentine's Day!
