February 15th, 1991
Dear Daddy,
Today was the day of the school talent show! I had butterflies in my stomach ALL day! When I got home from school, I did my homework and then I got ready. Mommy put my hair into two French braids! It looked really pretty!
I went 5th at the talent show. I made a few mistakes, but I think I did a good job! There were a lot of people who did really cool stuff, though. There was a guy who pulled a white bunny out of a hat, and another girl played "Happy Birthday" on a xylophone! Once everyone did their talent, the judges got together and thought about who was going to win. That made me really nervous! They were all huddled together and whispering really quietly. Finally, the announcer called everyone up on stage. Then, they gave out the awards...and guess what? I got SECOND PLACE! I was so happy! The person who won first place was the boy who pulled the bunny out of his hat. Next year, though, I'm going to try and win first place!
When Mommy and I came home, we made "celebratory cupcakes", as Mommy called them. They were double chocolate with chocolate frosting! Yummy! While the cupcakes were cooling, before we frosted and ate them, Mommy and I made a recording of "The Princess Dance" to send to you! Mommy put the tape in with her letters. I hope you like it, Daddy!
I love and miss you so, so much! I can't wait until you come home! Mommy says hopefully you'll be home soon!

A/N: Hey guys! Okay, I really have NO excuse for why I haven't updated in like three/four months...but I'll try to give you a couple (excuses, that is) anyway...1). I've had horrible writer's block (with this story and all my other stories); 2). I've been extremely busy! Now that school and all my extracurriculars (a.k.a. orchestra, soccer, etc...) are finished, I have more time to relax and to write...and that's all I can think of haha.
