Sorry if the quality isn't as good anymore but I'm a little rusty. Sorry again for keeping you waiting! Thanks to those who stuck by me and waited! A slightly longer chapter again this time, I hope you enjoy it!
Eragon awoke early next morning, his arms covered in body covered in black and blue bruises; he wearily got up and walked over to his window and drew back the curtains, immediately regretting his decision... a blinding light shot out and cut through the darkness, making his eyes squint and a groan escaping his lips as his eyes became accustomed to the intensity of the light. He walked over to the bath and cleaned himself; he got dressed and ate his breakfast before returning to his duties as a teacher.
Today was the first flying lesson he was to give; they'd structured it so that out of the ten students, only five were ever with them at any point in time. Eragon had also changed a lot to the arrival structure, with now, five new students arriving every six months so that he had time to adjust the schedule and slowly accommodate the growing class, he would have to phase the students with each set of ten being a different class, learning different things at different times so that the teachers wouldn't be overrun, this was the problem with having only two riders with dragons at Doru Araeba, usually only riders could teach other riders. He knew that when the current class had become old and wise enough to teach as they would do before the end of their training they would each take a young rider under their wings to teach them their responsibilities and duties and basics as a rider, and only then would they travel to Doru Araeba for further training so that they could become fully fledged riders.
That was the dream, to rebuild the kingdom of old and renew its teaching system... But for now they would struggle and fight to keep control over everything, for now he and his teachers would have to accommodate for that dream wouldn't occur for at least another fifteen years, when he'd have had about a hundred riders become wise enough to teach, and of those hundred, he would have made fifteen of them fully fledged riders... He thought it through in his mind, four years of training followed by eleven years of work and only then would they be full riders! Those fifteen riders would be teachers themselves, and over time, when he had amassed enough riders, he would revert to the old teachings of the oldest, wisest or most experienced riders taking a new rider under their wing to teach for their full training, and then, he would reduce the number of eggs shown.
Only a few eggs every year would hatch so that each rider would be thoroughly trained, ready to serve Alagaesia! But for now, he walked outside. He saw Saphira waiting for him with the students, five with dragons and weapons, five with just their weapons and he could see their dragons in the distance, standing with Vilden. Eragon, Murtagh, Saphira and Thorn were to take the students flying and teach them aerial combat while Kaira and Aninya were teaching the other five students on fighting and swordsmanship, leaving their five dragons with Vilden, teaching the dragons on surviving as a dragon, learning the essential things to ease their flying and hunting.
They would learn up till roughly one o'clock where they'd break for lunch and then the two sides would swap classes at two, continuing the rest of the day till about seven at night. The students would wake up early though, around seven and join the elves for Rimgar, the dragons doing a version that Glaedr had designed specifically for dragons, then classes began at nine, each day of the weak, from Monday to Saturday, would be different lessons, leaving Sunday free before the cycle began again on Monday.
"Morning little one, how are you today?" Saphira asked him
"Morning Saphira, I have an aching body but an excited feeling" he replied
"Are you excited as well? I cannot wait until we begin to teach the younglings, it would be interesting to see how they fare against our skill!" She told him, a smile appearing at the corners of her mouth.
"Now Saphira, we can't look at it like that! It would be unwise for a teacher, even a dragon, to compete against the younglings... now if they were to challenge you..." Eragon trailed off, a slight grin appearing on his face "Well that would just be unfortunate for them" he added, gaining a slight laugh from Saphira
"Now you are talking like a dragon!" she replied "This should be an interesting day... yet still one of bad memories..."
"How would it be so?" Eragon asked her, curiosity playing in his mind
"For us to teach them to fight in the air... we would have to fight Thorn and Murtagh..." Saphira replied, her large eyes becoming solemn
"Aye... I had not thought of that... Barzul! Is there no other way to do this?" He cursed at his ill fate, sword fighting with Murtagh was one thing but a full on fight in the air... knowing the dragons ferocity this could go horrifically wrong at the slightest moment. Reaching out with his mind he found Murtagh and explained the situation to him, together they discussed and after promises from both Saphira and Thorn to not let this get out of hand they finally climbed their respective dragons. Eragon called out to the students that were flying and led them away with Saphira, Thorn and Murtagh. The riders who were left walked to the sparring grounds as they're dragons flew away with Vilden to the far side of the island.
Among the riders that travelled to the training grounds were Dim, Arvuin, Arnos, Bray and Clovis, the rest of the riders had left for aerial combat. Dim had only recently returned from Rhunon's forge, having crafted a rider's blade for himself. It was a grey blade, the same colour as Rhust, with a crystal clear diamond embedded in the hilt which was itself blood red in colour. The blade was engraved as all Riders' swords were, each sword having unique inscriptions and his wasn't written in the ancient language but instead in Dwarvish. His blade was inscribed with a single, short word... Shrrg. Dim was the first of the students to have his sword made and at the start of tomorrow, Arvuin would be next.
The five of them arrived to see Kaira and Aninya awaiting them, they instructed the students to draw their swords and one by one face up against them so as to give the twins an insight into how to best approach training each individual person. One by one the students faced off, Arnos first but disarmed within a few minutes, Arvuin next who was also disarmed but lasted a lot longer than Arnos, then Dim and then Bray, all lasting a considerable amount of time, but then stepped up Clovis...
So I wonder what happened when training aerial combat? And what happened with Clovis?! Hmm I predict a hatching next chapter... I wonder who it will be? Maybe Kaira or Aninya or Blodhgarm or Saphia or Kuldr or Rhunon or Vanir or another unknown elf or maybe the man that has yet to awaken? That's a lot of choices...
