I apologise so very much for the delay... I only realised a few days ago that I forgot to leave a notice of when I would stop. Thank you so much for being patient and I really hope you enjoy the chapter!
"Check the room!" Nasuada yelled to her guards and Orik as she ran towards Eragon, she pointed towards the students "You lot!" she started "Help me carry him to Saphira" she told them; at once Arnos ran over and put Eragon's arm around his shoulder. Together he and Nasuada took Eragon to Saphira. "Saphira, take him outside and come back, we might need to take the rest outside" she told her mentally, hearing a short growl of approval, she and Arnos placed Eragon on her back. Preparing herself mentally she slowly turned towards the infirmary, she took a deep breath and walked through the doors. The sight before her was disturbing, all of the elves except for Saphia, Blodhgarm and Kuldr were unconscious and even they were on their hands and knees. She saw Arya regaining consciousness as she walked in. She looked around and she saw the man, on his bed, an aura emanating around him but not moving or speaking, she saw the slow rise and fall of his chest at a rate that was too slow for a normal human.
"He... It's done" Kuldr said "We almost died in the process but it's done, the immense amount of magical strength and stamina he has is unexplainable, it took nearly all of us to sustain him and it worked but this is something that we should not try again" He told her, his eyes blinking rapidly as if he had been blinded by a flash of light. Slowly and steadily he stood up, helping Saphia to her feet he walked over to Nasuada "If possible... could you please tell your guards to go get some fruit from the kitchen? Maybe quite a large amount, we could really use some way of getting our energy back" Kuldr asked meekly. "I really hope Angela won't be too long" he finished, sitting down by the door.
"So do I, I'll get them to go find some food for all of you" Nasuada told him before walking away.
Kuldr looked over at the man, watching him intently. He studied him, observing the movements of his chest for any abnormal movement. He was shocked and tired and cold. He needed sleep and he was struggling to keep awake. He couldn't sleep now, he needed energy first. But as he closed his eyes he realised, he wasn't avoiding sleep because he was needed... he was afraid. He thought back to the actual spell. As they chanted he realised, he could see him. He was in his head and all he saw was blackness, but in the centre was a red light, he remembered now of walking towards it and what he saw. Kuldr went white, he opened his eyes and it was there... all around him he could see it, his nightmares, everywhere he looked, everybody he looked at he saw him. Suddenly tears welled up in his eyes as he saw him being slain in front of his eyes. He saw Morzan standing in front of him, a head held in his hands... "F... father... no, Morzan what... why have you done this" he whispered. No sound escaped his lips for minutes; he could feel the blood rush to his ears and his head started spinning. He managed to position himself in a fetal position; tears began streaming down his face until... nothing. Kuldr lay there unconscious, oblivious to the shouts from the people around him, he couldn't feel them drag him to his room, nor feel them laying him on his bed. He couldn't feel Aninya placing a cold, wet cloth on his forehead, all he could feel, was fear.
Eragon awoke, he slowly rose to a crouched position, looking left and right he saw the other elves. He looked up and saw the marquee, they were outside... the cool air was helping him; he looked around and saw the darkness. Hours had passed since the magic they cast. He got up and walked around, getting his footing back. Moving out of the marquee he saw Saphira and Thorn, encompassing the marquee with Eridor nestled underneath Saphira's wings. He slowly walked over to her. Nearing her head he waved his hand in front of her eyes, confident she was asleep Eragon snuck past her and walked inside. He was starving, 'I'm lucky my stomach didn't growl near Saphira' he thought to himself as he walked into the lunch hall. He saw Blodhgarm sitting down and eating with Roran and Orik. Eragon walked over, grabbing some food along the way and sat down with them. "I suppose you've heard the news" Eragon said
"Aye, but have you heard about Kuldr?" Orik asked him
"No, what's happened?" Eragon replied, worried
"He's been seeing things; apparently he's hallucinating and seeing his fears. Aninya is with him now, Saphia would go see him but she's getting some sleep." Orik told him
"I'll have to go check on him, but I need some sleep... At least it worked and Angela will be here within the next week" Eragon replied, sighing
"There's something about that which that makes my beard curl" Orik said
"Aye, she's not right... she's helpful and always a good person but there's something not right" Roran said
"Please, it would be best if you didn't insult her, just because you don't understand" Blodhgarm told them
"Actually, I've always wondered, why is Angela such a good friend with the oldest elves?" Eragon asked "What is it about her?"
"I am sworn to secrecy my friends" Blodhgarm replied "If you must know then ask her the right questions... but try not to irritate her"
"Very well" Eragon replied, taking a large bit out of a piece of bread. "Where are Katrina and Ismira?" Eragon asked his cousin
"They are asleep, as soon as something began happening I sent them to our room and told them to stay there" Roran replied
"That is good thinking. I can't believe I haven't asked yet but how is fatherhood suiting you?" Eragon questioned
"I... It's tiring Eragon, but it is a joy to behold, I would fight Galbatorix by myself to protect her"
"And I'm sure you'll make him regret the day he angered Stronghammer" Orik interjected, chuckling
"Aye, I hope to raise a family of my own but... it would be difficult" Eragon pondered
"Eragon, stay true, don't let your fears and worries overcome you, you will meet someone who is perfect for you. Someone that is right and willing to love you. Arya was never right for you and deep down you know that yourself!" Roran told him, forcefully
"Regardless, I am tired and I need sleep. I shall see you all in the morning, as it is Sunday and a day off for us I will definitely seek you out!" Eragon replied, walking away towards his room.
