Chapter 21

Rachel's POV

It had been quite a while that I had been sitting and been questioned by Crowley, Gabriel and Balthazar. Gabriel wasn't helping in the slightest because he would just ask random questions such as 'What's your favourite colour?' and 'Who's your favourite band?' Even though those questions were annoying at times they were quite fun to have a break from the constant hardcore questions and it was fun as well just to mess with Crowley and Balthazar. I believed that Gabriel and I were starting to bond over that experience.

"So, let me get this straight." Gabriel said, his expression suddenly turning serious, "You have come from a world that's in the future and that has no evidence it has of supernatural beings and this world is fictional to you."

"That's about it." I said, nodding.

"Have you told anyone about this except from Crowley, Felix and Jace?" Balthazar questioned me.

"Nope." I said, casually.

Crowley has been quiet for a few minutes and hadn't been questioning me which was making me quite nervous since I didn't know if he was planning anything.

"Nothing major, love, trust me. Just trying to figure you out." Crowley answered my thoughts.

Gabriel and Balthazar both looked at Crowley and I in surprise but before either of them could get another word in there was a knock on the door and Felix walked into the room.

"I'm sorry to disturb you, boss, but there's a visitor here to see you. He says it's very important." Felix announced, while glancing at me curiously.

"Well, tell him I'll be there in a few minutes. I'm in the middle of something important myself." Crowley ordered, still looking at me with puzzlement in his eyes.

"I don't think that's wise, Sir." Felix suggested, bodly, "You know that Lucifer doesn't like to be kept waiting."

Everyone's head whipped around to where Felix was faster than I could have blinked. Gabriel and Balthazar had looks of worry on their faces and then I suddenly remembered who Lucifer was in relation to them. This was going to become extremely tense very soon if Crowley didn't get them out in time.

"Well, why didn't you say so first time round." Crowley growled, "Gabriel and Balthazar you better leave now. I don't want you ruining my meeting with Lucifer because of some family splat."

Gabriel frowned and crossed his arms, "I'm not leaving here with my brother in the same house and I'm definitely not taking orders from you, demon."

Balthazar seemed to be in the same boat as Gabriel since he took that moment to stand next to his brother and crossed his arms and looked defiantely at Crowley.

Crowley huffed in annoyance, "Why is it that I have to know the most stubborn of angels? Fine, you two can stay. Just don't mess anything up. Felix, since you decided to tell me later than you should have, you can now give Rachel the full tour. I don't want her meeting Lucifer any time soon."

"Aww, but I want to meet the devil." I jokingly whined, but I was met with curious glances by all four members of the room.

"Trust me, you do not want to meet our brother." Balthazar stated, and then nodded at Felix to take me away.

Just as Felix led me out of the room and into the hallway I caught someone saying,

"Hello brothers. Been a long time."

Felix wouldn't talk to me for a long time before we got into the entrance hall. When we arrived he stopped at the staircases and glanced around before saying,

"This seems like a better place than any to start a tour, don't you think?"

I raised an eyebrow, "Yeah, sure. Look, why did Lucifer show up? Why are Gabriel and Balthazar with Crowley?"

"Woah, woah! One question at a time." Felix said, holding his hands up in a fake surrender.

"Are you actually going to answer them if I ask them or are you going to give me a very vague generic answer?" I asked him, looking at him intently.

"How about I don't answer them at all?" Felix asked, then motioned me to follow him.

"You think I'm just going to forget what's happening because Crowley told you to take me on a fancy tour? Not happening, mister. I want information and now." I said fiercely, staring him down.

You are a fiesty one, aren't you? Look, this is for your own safety that you don't know what's going on. It's Lucifer we're talking about here not some low-class demon like Jace or myself. This is the boss; he's even the boss of Crowley." Felix told me, referring to Crowley as if Crowley was the be all and end all of situations.

I rolled my eyes, "Fine, you can take me on this fancy tour but don't think I'm going to drop it any time soon."

Felix chuckled, "I didn't expect you to. Now come along, there's a lot of house to show and I've got stuff to do today so I need to make this quick."

I followed him into a room that I had arrived in. There was a marvelous fireplace at the other end of the room which wasn't lit with two plump looking armchairs and a sofa and a table in front of it. My eyes travelled towards the two tall bookcases that lined the walls either side of the fireplace which were overflowing with books.

"How many books does one guy need?" I asked aloud, staring at them in wonder.

"Is that all you're interested in?" Felix asked, with an eyerbow raised, "Those books are owned by the demons that work here. Basically, demons that have been in and out of this house have left some books or other and they've built into this collection. We've got modern bestsellers and antique books. You won't find the antique books in here; you'll have to go to the library to see them."

My ears pricked up at the word 'library', "Library? As in this place has a home library? Why didn't you tell me sooner? Can we go there now?"

Felix smirked, "You're going to have to wait a while before we get there. C'mon, no dwadling."

We made our way into many rooms on the ground floor; some of them I thought they were just there for decoration because of how beautiful they were. I made a mental note that there were 15 living rooms on the ground floor alone and, according to Felix's commentary, only 5 of them were really used. I made a mental note of the ones that were regularly used so I could use the quiet ones for reading or other such activities. There were 2 large kitchens with demon chefs at the ready to cook meals. Since it was the middle of the night they were all preparing the breakfast menu with speed that was astonishing. I gaped at their ability while Felix led me out of the room.

"You didn't really need to see that I suppose since you won't be going in there but I thought you might need to know just in case." Felix said, making his way to some other rooms.

There were six large bathrooms to choose from and a room that was used as a quiet room for reading, painting and other such logical activities. Pretty much all the living rooms and quiet rooms had fireplaces in them; I wouldn't have been surprised if the kitchens and bathrooms didn't have fireplaces in them too. After we had been in the quiet room Felix led me to the first floor. It was a long corridor that seemed to not end and Felix told me that most of the rooms were where the demons that stayed here permnantly to work lived here.

"How many demons actually work in this house?" I asked out of interest.

"20 but the house is so large and most of them work in the kitchens or clean that you never really see them." Felix explained, once he'd seen my shocked expression.

"Huh, well I hope it stays that way." I commented, while following Felix down the corridor.

Felix only showed me a couple of rooms on this floor since he thought it would be a waste of time otherwise. Most of the rooms that occupied this floor were the demons rooms and he knew it would be an invasion of privacy if he showed me there's.

"But I can show you mine if you wish?" He asked, hesitantly.

I smiled, "I'd like that a lot. It would be interesting to see what a demon room would look like."

Felix returned the smile and then strolled down the corridor and showed me a couple of rooms of interest. The first was another living room with another fireplace which acted as a staff room. All the demons collected here on their breaks or when their shifts had finished.

"Really? You have shifts?" I asked, disbeilivingly.

Felix chuckled at my reaction, "Of course we do. How else do you think we know when to work? Jace and I aren't always Crowley's henchmen. Sometimes we need to take a little break from the boss."

I nodded in understanding and we carried on. There were two other living rooms which anybody could use and then there was one majorly large bathroom.

"This is just a luxury room." Felix explained, casually. "Demons, and people, can go in with friends just to relax and chill out. You can join in too sometime."

I stared around in awe. It reminded me of the Prefects bathroom in Harry Potter with the grandness of it. There was a large bath in the middle with enough space to put things like drinks and books on the side. There were many taps around the edges so that the bath could get nice and full. I stared at the ceiling where there was a painting of Lucifer being cast out of heaven.

"Well, that's on point." I said, motioing to the painting above.

"It's to resemble what we're here for. And don't think you're getting any answers out of me, young lady. C'mon, I'm going to show you the last floor. I think that one you'll be most impressed by." Felix boasted, while turning away from the bathroom.

I almost didn't want to leave but after a few calls from Felix I reluctantly left the beautiful bathroom behind. What came next I didn't expect. Felix led me all the way to the top of the staircase where there was a mini entrance way to a room. There were two posh chairs either side of the door and next to both of them there were two tables with a book each on them.

"Welcome to the best home library you'll ever see." Felix announced, and then pushed the doors wide open.

My breath caught in my throat as I saw what was behind the door. It definitely was the best library I'd ever seen. I gaped as I looked at my surroundings. There bookcases were all made out of wood and were stacked next to one another. There were three floors that went up and up to the glass ceiling above; I could see the stars in the black sky. Books were packed in the bookcases; old books, new books, books with the spines cracked, books that looked perfectly in good shape. In the middle of the room there were two plump looking chairs with a table and a lamp on it. Behind those chairs there was a fireplace that was lit up. I noticed to the side of the fireplace there was another set of doors leading off to another room.

"Where do those lead to?" I questioned Felix, pointing the doors out to him.

"That's Crowley's room so you'd best not go in. He won't be pleased to find out you've gone through his personal possessions." Felix said, looking at me sternly.

I rolled my eyes and then started to make my way over to one of the bookcases, "Ok, ok. I won't look. Probably won't be that interesting anyway. You can leave me now; I'm happy enough here."

Felix chuckled, "I'll make sure breakfast is bought to you here since it's only 4 hours until dawn and then I'll come and find you myself so you can find your bedroom again. Hope you have a nice read."

I nodded even though I hadn't really caught a word he had told me since my attention was solely on choosing a book to read. My fingers were on one of my favourite books of all time; The Hobbit b Tolkien. I took out the book and became comfortable in one of the chairs and started to read.
