Chapter Three

Shopping Woopie

Nessie

A thing you should know about me is that I hate shopping, loath it with a passion and yet surprise, surprise I got roped into a shopping trip.

That morning had seemed fine enough, while I was in bed. However the moment I got out of bed Alex's sixth sense turned on and he started wailing. Sure enough monster baby had a little present for me and I had to change him quickly because now that he was crawling he was fast. I grabbed him and he screamed bloody murder, both Nahuel and Abigale came running one would think I was a child abuser to judge by the noise.

They found their demon spawn in nothing but his birthday suit crying and attempting to rip my hair out. "Calm down Alex, I'll give you some blood as soon as we get the diaper on fair enough?" I asked and he nodded his head in reply. I got the diaper on and his sharp little stinging teeth bit into my arm. It didn't hurt more then a bee sting as he suckled. "Your going to have human food too, you want to be big and strong like Uncle Nahuel now don't you?" I cooed at the baby who blanched at the thought of human food, who could blame him it was his second day out in the wide world and we were feeding him poison. "Now lets ride on the mommy express." I said and handed him over to Abigale after I burped him.

"Your really a great help I would like to thank you." She said and I smiled.

"No thanks nesassary, you seem much more rested." I replied and grinned. "Shall we set forth and graze on grass like our prey?" I asked and Nahuel laughed.

"Good one, I tried a bit of grass once to compare and it had the same bland flavorless texture, although food is more filling." He said and we went into the kitchen together I poared three small bowls of cereal I didn't have to eat a lot and nether did I have to really. Alexander stared at the human food with a look of distaste set into his mouth.

"Sorry buddy but you have to get used to it, you can't just live on the good stuff like vampires." I said and smiled. "However I found a way of making it taste better, promise none of you will tell my dad?" I asked and they nodded before I opened my own skin with my fangs and bled a little over the bowl before the scratch healed up. Weirdly enough I could heal faster then vampires and werewolves for some reason. I smiled taking a big bite of bloody o's what every half vampire is eating, all the rage. I snorted and shrugged. "I amuse myself sometimes." I explained and they nodded. At that moment Alice pranced down to where we were together.

"Hello its a beautiful day to go shopping." She squeeled in her most annoying Alice voice, although I loved her I considered throwing my breakfast over her. I finished and got up rensing off my plate and putting into the dishwasher. Alice knew full well that I couldn't protest around these people and sound like a child. She also knew that I was trying to act more adult which means she is forcing me to go to the mall. "We can get some clothes for Alex and Nessie needs a new wardrobe everything is too short on her." I growled low in my throat as Jacob had taught me. Alice of course ignored it.

"I don't know..." Abigale said, please say no please.

"Come on it will be great, and afterwards you can eat whatever you want." Alice said.

"It all tastes like cud to us anyway so I don't see why there should be a difference between expensive cud and regular cud." Nahuel said and I slapped him on the hand.

"What is it with you and shopping, its shopping come one people please." Oh great the puppy eyes now and then they are going to be under her spell.

"Well I don't see the point of materialism." Nahuel replied and Alice acted like she had just gotten slapped in the face.

"Materialism its not that its fun, shopping looking at random stuff you'll never buy and buying it because you can!" She did he salute to shopping dance in front of us.

"We better agree before she goes onto the poetry." I said just as Alice started to do exactly that.

"Oh handbag with your wonderful shine, say that you will be mine. Oh shoes we are not worthy of your greatness, oh shiny skirt show me your ways. I could go shopping for all of my days." Alice said as everyone winced at the terrible poetry. "I have a hundred more, there isn't a better way to get Edward out of your head." She skipped around the table happily.

"Are you sure your the one who is almost seven?" Nahuel asked half seriously and I laughed.

"Pretty sure." I replied. "Give into her demands?" I asked.

"Agreed, I don't think I could stand another ode." He replied and Alice flashed him a smile that would light up the room.

"Yea shopping." She said and went up to get her MasterCard no doubt.

"Your son is very beautiful I loved taking care of him." I said to Abigale and she blushed as she held Alexander.

"Thank you." She replied and I smiled as Alice came downstairs handbag in well her hand. We left together taking Jasper's jeep as it had the most leg room of any of the cars. We sped down the highway and Nahuel looked green.

"Um, Alice you might want to slow down a little." I said and he smiled at me thankfully.

"I am not used to riding in a car." He said and I smiled at him.

"Shopping with Alice isn't much better." I replied and he laughed. Together we got out of the car after Alice parked it and went into the walmart? Alice had taken us to walmart the evilest of all evil shopping stores. I mean how can someone respect a store where the object is to stuff as much marked down stuff as possible. Nahuel stared at the store and I could tell that he was overwhelmed and I didn't blame him at all. For one thing there was the smell of blood in the people trying to get around and buy buy buy. For another that smell was overladen with chemicals and the buzz of the air conditioning was very annoying. I pulled him away to look at toys. "We should get a stuffed animal or something for the baby." I said and he nodded, picking up a rag doll.

"Maybe he could bite into this?" He asked and I nodded, that was a good idea.

"How about a ball that could last him for a while." We wound up getting a four square ball and a bunch of duct tape. We added it to the cart we had snagged before going onto baby apparal. Some of those clothes had no taste at all and we laughed over them. I realized that shopping with Nahuel was almost fun. We saw something that suited Alex at the same time

"Race you to the outfit!" I said and he laughed running after me. We got it four sizes too big just in case and added it to the cart. "Emmett will never forgive me if I don't check out the X Box 360 games." I told him very seriously.

"Well then we have to do that." He replied. I found a game that Emmett would like but also picked up a few for the pack in the bargain bin. Jacob was uncomfortable with how much money my family had and how I would get things for the pack. I told him several times that they were my friends as well as his and they deserved a break from hunting down phantoms as no vampire would dare go to a place occupied by my Mom and seven other almost equally powerful vampires. Well except for Nahuel and other guests, but that was another story.

"So what should we do now?"

"Meet up with Alice and see what scraps of clothing she will try to get me into." I replied and he laughed. We walked together to where Alice was in the woman's department. Before I could blink she was piling on mini skirts and snugly fitting tank tops. Nahuel was trying not to laugh and I sighed theatrically. No matter how many times Alice tried I was not the clothing scrap type of girl. I tried everything on and gave it back to her. "It all fits but if you buy it I'll never ever wear it." I said to her and Nahuel snorted.

"You will someday."

"In your dreams, that's right you never sleep therefore I will never wear it." I replied and that got Nahuel and Abigale laughing. "Now that you have tortured me, I suggest that we get out of this hell hole and get some food."

Alice nodded paid for our things and then we went to get pizza. I ordered a small which was no doubt enough between the three of us, I was glad that I only had to eat human food one day in seven.

We ate the food, and I had to admit as long as it had meat on it, it wasn't that bad. We finished the pizza and drove back to the house. "It is time for makeovers!" Alice squealed delightedly waking up the baby who was of course hungry for blood. "Give him blood and some yogurt." I said and Abigale nodded letting the child drink from her skin then giving the baby some yogurt in careful spoon fulls. he didn't like that much and who could blame him, poor little tyke poisoned by his own Mom. I stayed as long as I could trying to avoid Alice and failling. Eventually she pulled me up to her room and played with my hair nails and face for four hours. She then brought out the mini skirt and forced a promise not to take it off for the rest of the day.

I decided to go to Jake's and ask my guests to come with me. I think Nahuel would have fun with the guys there and why not? They were all pretty cool, so when I was finally finished with the hair and makeup I went downstairs to where Nahuel and his sister were sitting on the couch trying to figure out how to work the controller. Alex was giggling at their attempts watching the TV.

"I was wondering if you would like to hang out with some of my friends?" I asked them.

"Why not I can't understand what this wants me to do anyway so I might as well." Nahuel said and his sister nodded.

"Great, I'll call Jake." I said and went to dial his phone number. "Hello?"

"Hi Embry, its Nessie, can I talk to Jake if he isn't busy?" I asked.

"Sure Nessie." Embry replied. "Are you thinking about stopping by with the baby because Leah is even more crazy than usual as Sam yelled at her for four strait hours yesterday. I think seeing her imprint would really help."

"I was actually thinking of taking Nahuel and his sister along with me, that's why I wanted to call. They are half vamps like me." I said.

"All right I'll get Jake." A moment later and some one sided yelling I heard Jake's voice.

"Nessie?" He asked.

"Hi Jake I was wondering if I could stop by with some of my friends." I said.

"Sure, Embry told me what you told me, in less polite terms." He replied and I smiled.

"Great thanks a lot." I said and hung up. "They are fine with it, come on we will take my car." My car was a Ferrari but keeping in mind Nahuel's car sickness I was careful to drive the speed limit to Jake's house. We knocked on the door and Leah answered, her eyes scanning until she saw the baby only then did she relax.

"Hello." Abigale said to her. "I am Abigale." Leah shook her hand and smiled.

"I'm Leah please come in." She said and we all entered the house.

"Leah is great with kids, she helped me with Alex yesterday." I told Abigale and then the entire pack was staring at me, wide eyed.

"Turns out Nessie was a girl after all." Embry said. "Pay up Quil." I snorted.

"You guys will bet over anything, these are my friends, Nahuel and Abigale and you have already met Alex." Embry was sitting on the couch and Abigale was standing behind Nahuel holding the baby.

"Do you mind if I sit down?" Abigale asked and Embry moved so fast that you could have blinked. He took Abigale by the hand and then he stared into her eyes slack jawed.

"Your beautiful." He said after a minute and Abigale blushed everyone was staring at Embry.

"Pay up Jake, Embry imprinted before Seth." Quil said and Jake handed him a dollar laughing.

"You really know how to ruin a moment Quil." Jake said and then the rest of the pack was laughing.

"Hey Abs?" Abigale turned. "Can I talk to you for a moment?" I asked her and she nodded. We went outside together and sat on the front porch. "Quil said something about imprinting a moment ago, you won't believe it until Embry tells you but he just imprinted on you. Imprinting is unique to werewolves they love one person in a single moment more then anything else in the world and that love lasts for life. I want to tell you this because if you leave you won't only be breaking Embry's heart you'll also be breaking Leah's. They imprinted on you and your baby, its strange but not unheard of." I told her as she stared wide eyed at me. "Its not that bad they will give you both undying love. I know that you most probably won't believe me at first but its the truth, you can take it how you want."

"Thank you for telling me." She said and smiled. "This means my son will grow up having male role models. Nahuel is by nature a loner, he loves all of us but usually roams around from village to village and town to town. I've wanted to settle down for a while and find a man that I could be with. I though I had found someone but I was wrong." She explained. "My oldest sister discovered it was possible to age, slowly, a year in every four but age none the less. You have to want to stay in one place forever, to not wander around and you will age. She didn't know why this was but she's glad it happened." I smiled at her and nodded before we went back inside together.

"I challenge you to a duel, motor cross winner takes a forfeit." Seth said and I nodded.

"Very well." I replied. "You are going down doggy." I said and he laughed.

"I don't think so fangy." He replied and we raced, I realized my mistake Set had been practicing when I wasn't here and I lost.

"Haha forfits mine and you have to kiss Jacob." He said and my eyes grew wide. "You agreed to the rules of the game."

"Oh alright, but only if Jake agrees to it." I replied.

"A forfeit is a forfeit and we all agree to play them." Jacob said and I nodded I went over to where he was sitting and blushing gave him a peck on the cheek.

"Not good enough." Seth said and I stared at him. "Give it more depth." I glared at him before kissing Jake on the lips, I thought I had hid the fact that I liked Jake well, I suppose I was wrong. "Still not good enough." He said and Jake growled my face was most probably resembling a tomato. I kissed him again deepening it and to my surprise he kissed me back, kissing Jake was like everything in those trashy romance novels me and mom loved to sigh and giggle over by turns. Sparks flew I saw light when I closed my eyes colors exploded but I knew it couldn't last. One day Jake would imprint and where would that leave me. We both broke away and Seth crowed. "Now that was a kiss."

"Yes that was." Nahuel said smiling. "I am glad that you found your mate."

"We're not mated just friends." I replied and something flickered in Jake's eyes before it was gone.

"I want to try that game." He said. "Can I?" He asked and everyone shrugged. Abigale and Nahuel raced each other and they were about equally bad. They fell off every obstacle that came their way and pretty soon we were all laughing including Alex who was sitting in Leah's lap and clapping his hands. Leah smiled down at the child and I saw love in her face as she gently stroked the hair was coming in. I smiled and sat back against the couch it was fun seeing them play and I enjoyed it. We went back to the house pretty late and Alex was asleep by the time I went into the room. Nahuel moved his cradle into the room they were sharing before I went to sleep. I took off the ridiculous clothes Alice had put me in and got into bed.

Sleep was slow in coming that night, for some reason my thoughts were preoccupied with Jake the way his eyes seemed to hold only me in that moment. Eventually though I fell asleep.
