Chapter 29 (Part Three)
Marthe's POV
We drove to Daniel Elkin's house in silence. I was pondering how I would cope with going back home to a normal universe without monsters and it would also have the added extra with no Supernatural. I knew that Dean wasn't going to win but I hadn't a clear vision of how yet and, to be honest, if I did have that vision I wasn't sure that I should tell Dean about it or not. I didn't want to alter the storyline too much but I'd come to care about Dean and his family and I wanted the best for him. Maybe, in a way, having to live back in the normal world wouldn't be so bad if it meant that Dean could get his happiness back. So, all through the drive I tried to get a vision of anything that would be useful but nothing seemed to happen. I would just have to wait for when the vision did come. We arrived at the house and both got out of the car and walked towards the house.
"No one's home. Good. We just need to pick the door lock and we'll be in." Dean said.
"We're breaking in? What if we're caught?" I asked him, following him to the front door.
"Are you really asking me those questions right now? Anyway, move out of the way for a minute." Dean told me.
I stepped to the side as he fumbled in his jacket pocket. He pulled out a paper clip and bent it so it was straight. Then he knelt down and began to fiddle with the lock.
"Look, I'm going to help you with your parents. If I get anymore visions I'll tell you immediately." I told him, as I waited for him to open the door.
"You sure about that? There'll be no Supernatural show to get back to." Dean said, smiling cheekily.
I chuckled, "I think I can live without it. You and Sam's happiness is more important."
Dean's expression suddenly turned serious, "Thank you. I know it's a lot to ask and that you're new to all this but you're doing great and thank you. I'll miss you if that's any consolation."
"That's plenty coming from you and thank you. Now, hurry up before we get caught." I ordered him, stamping my feet to show him I was cold.
"Someone's impatient." Dean chuckled, but in a second the door swung open and we got into the house.
We didn't take notice of the surroundings since Dean raced off to the room with the safe in. When I caught up with him I noticed it was just a normal living room with a safe on one of the walls. Dean kneeled down and tried to figure out the code for the safe. The minutes ticked by and I was getting more anxious by the minute as Dean fiddled around with the safe. After another few minutes Dean unlocked the safe and he pulled out the Colt. However, there were footsteps behind me and when I turned around I saw that I was face to face with Daniel Elkins and his shotgun.
"Hold it right there, friend. Drop the gun, be on your way and take your lady friend here too." Daniel said, and nodded at me.
I wasn't facing Dean but I could tell that he hadn't done what had been ordered since Dean,
"Can't do it, Daniel."
"Who the hell are you?" Daniel asked us, pointing his gun between us.
"We're hunters, just like yourself." Dean explained.
"Thieves more like it." Daniel commented.
Suddenly I was attacked by another vision.
"Mmm, in ten years I need to swing by your house for a little something. That's all."
"For what!?"
I gasped for breath as both men stared at me. I waved at Dean in signaling that he should just continue with the conversation and that I would tell him later.
"I just need it for a few days." Dean carried on, after he had recovered from my reaction to my vision.
Daniel was still looking at me curiously before he said, "Not happening, mister."
"Look, I have a chance to save my family's lives. My family. But I need this gun to do it. So if you want to stop me? Kill me." Dean stated, and my breathing hitched at the last part.
Dean lowered the Colt and walked slowly towards the door and past Daniel. I followed him slowly and kept my eyes on Daniel all the while. We both turn to look at Daniel and we see that his gun has been lowered.
"There's some hunters in Lawrence, the Campbells." Dean told Daniel.
"Never heard of them." Daniel shrugged.
"That's where she'll be." Dean told him and then slipped out of the house with me following behind him.
We got ourselves back into the car and headed to where the yellow-eyed demon was going to appear. Dean instantly turned to questioning me in what I had experienced at Daniel's house and what the vision meant.
"So, what happened back there? Another vision?" Dean asked me.
I nodded, "Yeah, another short one though."
Dean sighed, "At least it's something. What was this vision about?"
"Mary made some sort of deal with the yellow eyed demon. Not a regular crossroads deal but something else. I'm confused as to what it is though." I explained, trying my best to remember if any other details came to memory.
"You sure it's not a crossroads deal?" Dean asked me and when I nodded he sighed, "Ok, then. We need to tell Mary that before he does the deal. Hopefully we have enough time."
"Well, you better step on it then. Make sure we get to her in time." I told him.
Dean looked at me and smirked, "I thought you didn't agree with rule breaking."
"Well, this isn't technically rule breaking and, anyway, situations like this can be made exceptions." I said, and gave a shrug.
Dean chuckled and then put his foot down and the car speeded up. It only took us about 15 minutes before we arrived at the place. We got out of the car and ran towards the house. I heard commotion and it sounded as if the yellow eyed demon was already there.
"Damn it!" Dean exclaimed angrily.
"No need to throw a tantrum. C'mon, we need to get to Mary." I told him, urging my legs to run faster.
When we finally got to the house Dean slammed the front door open and then went flying into the living room with me straight after him. We saw Mary against the wall and the yellow eyed demon was pinning her against it. Samuel was looking helpless on the scene but as soon as Dean came through he drew the Colt towards the yellow eyed demon. However, the yellow eyed demon took Mary and used her as a shield so that Dean had no aim.
"Let her go!" Dean shouted.
"Where'd you get that gun?" The yellow eyed demon asked, in his sleazy voice.
When Dean cocked the gun and nodded to Mary to get out of the way the yellow eyed demon took flight and black smoke went up into the vent.
"Damn!" Dean exclaimed, again.
When everyone had calmed down Dean went straight into questioning,
"Mary, what else did he say to you?"
"I told you, just that he liked me." Mary answered.
Dean shared a concerned look with me and then gave his attention back to Mary. Mary looked into Dean's eyes with fear,
"What did he mean by that?"
Dean started to say something but was cut off by Samuel as he strode across the lawn to meet us,
"Liddy's a strong kid, she'll be fine."
Samuel turned his attention onto his daughter, "Are you okay?"
"No, Dad, I'm pretty far from okay. Can we go?" And with that Mary turned and walked back to the truck.
Samuel turned to Dean and said, "Nice job in there."
I smiled but Dean obviously didn't know it was a compliment, "I missed the shot."
I rolled my eyes at his obliviousness and Samuel said, "Take the compliment, son. I'm saying that I was wrong about you."
Dean took a look at where Mary was and I followed his line of vision. Mary stood next to the truck with an upset expression.
"We need to talk alone." Dean told Samuel and Samuel nodded in agreement.
When we are all back at the Campbell's house Dean wasted no time in telling the facts to Samuel,
"We have to kill this thing now, or Mary dies."
Samuel looked unconvinced by Dean's revelation, "What? How do you know that?"
Dean pulled out John's journal again and placed it on the table.
"I just do, okay?" Dean said.
"When?" Samuel asked, and gave Dean a suspicious look.
"I don't know, maybe today, maybe years from now, but it's happening, trust me." Dean said, looking pleadingly at Samuel.
"So, what, are you some kind of physic now too?" Samuel asked, a look of disbelief plain across his face.
Dean sighed, "No. Alright, listen to me."
Dean moved to sit down next to Samuel and I sat down next to Dean.
"Now, this is gonna sound a little... actually it's gonna sound massively, massively crazy." Dean told Samuel, choosing his words carefully.
"Okay." Samuel said.
"Mary is my Mother." Dean stated.
"Excuse me?" Samuel exclaimed.
"And I am your grandson, and I know what the hell I'm talking about." Dean said, looking intently at Samuel.
Samuel gave Dean a look of disbelief, "You wanna run that by me again, son?"
Dean sighed, "My real name is Dean Winchester. I was born January 24th 1979. My parents are Mary and John Winchester."
Samuel gave a startled look, "I don't have to listen to this. What about this lady here, huh? Where's she from?"
"I have a name you know. It's Marthe, if you didn't know." I told him, and slightly glared at him.
Dean coughed, "Oh, Marthe. Yes, she's from the future too but she's a whole new story and not one we have to worry about now."
Samuel gave me a curious look as Dean carried on,
"Mary gets killed by a yellow eyed demon in 1983 and I think that this - what happened tonight - I think this is the moment he caught her scent. Now, if we don't catch this thing now, and kill it, and it gets away? Then Mary dies. So I am asking you, please."
Samuel looked as if he wanted to believe Dean but he had trouble fully accepting it so Dean carried on,
"How did I know about the Colt? Huh? How did I know about the Yellow Eyed Demon? Or where it would be? I'm not making this up, Samuel."
I didn't butt into to say that some of the information that Dean had found out was through me since I didn't want anymore questions but finally it seemed that Samuel was considering what Dean was saying,
"Every bone in my body is aching to put you six feet under, but there's something about you - I can't shake it. Now, I maybe crazier than you, son, but I believe you."
I breathed a sigh of relief as Dean said, "Thank you."
"I mean, how do we find this bastard?" Samuel asked.
"Right here, on the list." Dean said, pointing at John's journal and opening it.
"And with the Colt?" Samuel guessed.
Dean pulled the Colt out of his jacket and placed it on the table.
"Yeah." Dean said.
"Here, let me see it." Samuel said.
I saw Dean hestitate and then he pulled the Colt further towards him and away from Samuel.
"Sorry, I don't let anybody hold it." Dean stated.
"I'm your grandfather." Samuel said, trying to use family relation as a bargaining chip.
"Nothing personal." Dean said.
"Sure it is, especially when it's me you're trying to kill." Samuel stated, and then suddenly I saw his eyes had turned yellow and I screamed.
The yellow eyed demon took notice of me and used his power to fling me to the other side of the room. Before I black out I heard Dean's voice cry,
"Marthe!"
I groaned and then tried to open my eyes but they were too heavy. However, my hearing was fine and I could hear Dean's voice, which made me sigh in relief, and I could also hear Castiel's voice, which made me curious.
"Where's Sam?" Dean asked.
Sam was missing? I tried my hardest to open my eyes but they just wouldn't budge so I relaxed again and listened.
"We know what Azazel did to your brother. What we don't know is why - what his endgame is. He went to great lengths to cover that up." Castiel continued.
"Where's Sam?" Dean asked, ignoring Castiel.
"425 Waterman." Castiel told him.
"Your brother is headed down a dangerous road, Dean, and we're not sure where it leads. So stop it. Or we will." Castiel told him and then I heard a swish of wings and I could tell that Castiel had vanished.
"Marthe? Marthe? Can you hear me?" Dean asked me.
"Of course I can hear you, arsehole. Let me get my eyes open." I told him.
Dean chuckled, "Well, at least I know your humour wasn't damaged. I just need to know if anything else was."
Finally, my eyelids weren't as heavy and I was able to fully open them. My eyes weren't in focus but I could see shapes and I could see that Dean was over me. I tried to focus on him and slowly but surely my sight gained focus and I was able to see that Dean had a worried expression.
"Look at that, I got Dean Winchester worried about me." I said, with a smirk.
"Of course I was worried about you. When the yellow eyed demon-" Dean began but I stopped him.
"Hey, hey. Don't blame yourslef for what happened to me. Now, c'mon, let's go and find Sam. From what I can see Siobhan has taken off with him so we've both got reasons to be worried. From now on, where worries are concerned we both share them." I told him, smiling at him kindly.
Dean beamed, "I'm so glad you're here. C'mon, let's go and find Sam and Siobhan. Hopefully that kid hasn't got himself into too much trouble.
