Chapter Eight

River Water Rushing

Nessie

When I awoke Nahuel had his arms wrapped around me sound asleep. His hair normally strait and clipped to about his neck was now flying everywhere including in his eyes. I smiled his hair was wild and I think he liked it that way. I gently brushed back the few hairs and smiled as his lips moved, I couldn't hear what he said however and I wondered what he was dreaming about.

I let myself watch him sleep, smiling as his arms tightened and released around me, his fingers relaxed but still twitching occasionally. His mouth relaxed and I could see a glimmer of white, he looked so young and so beautiful in that moment. I sighed and gently pulled his arms off of me. He awoke then opening one eye and saying with a sleep soddened voice. "Nes'i?" I smiled at him and nodded.

"Go back to sleep, I'm going to check on Alex." I told him and he sat up.

"I'll come with." He said more clearly now, waking up.

"Alright." I said and he grinned getting up with quite a bit of yawning and stretching, I smiled his hair was sticking up on end.

"What?" He asks and I can't help but laugh.

"Your hair." I reply thinking of Jake and how many times I had gone over to see his hair, and sometimes his face plastered to the couch. Don't think about Jake, you love him but he's gay, he will never be more then a friend now. Think about Nahuel instead with his wonderful smile and caring nature. Think about how much you love him.

"What about it?"

"Its sticking up on end." I reply and continue to laugh while we walk into the other room. Alex is looking at us his hands grabbing onto the cradle, it makes me smile.

"Ess'i." He says smiling and raising one arm. I grin back at him and pick him up gently. He smiles and launches at Nahuel going between the two of us to give him a hug. Nahuel is smiling as well.

"Hungry little guy?" He asks and Alex nods. "Well then lets get you something to eat, cereal with blood?" He asks and Alex shakes his head. "What do you want then, we can always check the fridge." Alex smiles and we walk together into the other house to get food. Alex pulls down a box of crackers.

"Ah crackers." I said and he nods.

"Pwease?" He asks and we stare at him before he smiles and we smile back.

"Sure little guy." Nahuel says. "Its not like its a whole lot better for him the cereal." I give Alex a cracker and he gnaws at it smiling. He takes two more before shaking his head and we put the box back on the shelf.

"Som'i!" He says smiling. "Ark." He says.

"Ark?" Nahuel asks him.

"go ark!" He replies. "Som'i ark."

"Oh you mean park?" Nahuel asks and he nods.

"Som'i ark!" He agrees and I smile.

"Well then should we go to the park?" I ask Nahuel and he nods. We drive together to the park in La Push, Alex is sitting in the back laughing occationally.

"Som'i ove Cowin." He says very seriously.

"Already having girl troubles?" Nahuel asks him jokingly.

"No! Som'i frin no irl." He says and I am pretty surprised he can already talk some.

"Alright." Nahuel says after a minute and I look over my shoulder to see Alex pouting. When Nahuel agrees he stops pouting and smiles most probably going back to some conversation he was having with Sammy. The rest of the ride is spent in silence excepting the occasional laugh from the backseat. We park on the side street and walk together into the park. Som'i is in her wolf form and comes bounding over to Alex practically barreling into him. She barks excitedly and he laughs petting her head.

"Som'i." He says and Collin runs up to us.

"Get that thing away from her!" He says and Alex glares at him.

"No, Som'i frin." He replies.

"Collin, Alex is Sammy's friend nothing more nothing less. He would never hurt anyone deliberately and they have a bond."

"I have a bond with her!" He replies angerly. "She's everything to me, if I lost her I would have no reason left to live, except to kill the one who killed her."

"I don't think a vendetta would be such a good idea, especially since Alex is Leah's imprint. He isn't going to hurt her, he loves her like a brother. Sammy loves you too, Alex told us in the car on the way over. Saying that she can't play with Alex is as ridiculous as saying you can't be with your friends." I said and he nodded. "He just wants to play with her nothing more."

"Leeches!" He said. "Everyone is friends with them now, there isn't any point to being a werewolf anymore." He said and picked up Sammy. "Just because some of the guys like you Nessie doesn't mean we aren't mortal enemies." He walked away leaving me staring after him.

"Nessie, he's a jerk don't listen to what he said." Nahuel put an arm around her. "Anyway they will be friends no matter what that hormonal horror says." I laughed hormonal horror now that was something you never heard. Oh I have heard the derogatory terms before, usually from Sam's pack and Emmett, who started to say them around the house. He actually walked up to my father one time and said, 'hey my bloodsucking brother.' I swear I almost died from laughing and he cracked the rest of the family up as well. A thing that I learned early on was that it was important not to encourage Emmett. It lost its hilarity after the hundredth time and that was with me sleeping.

"I know he's just a stupid werewolf." I replied and he laughed hugging me. Alex was really looking upset, he didn't understand most probably what was wrong. He tugged on my jeans and I picked him up.

"Som'i." He said and then started to cry, I heard wailing in the distance, wherever Sammy was she was crying now too.

"Sush now its alright Alex, you are friends and you share a bond, no matter what that idiotic imprint of Sammy's thinks. The thing is werewolves don't like vampires very much and Collin, well Collin was mean but its alright because you can always hear Sammy in your head even if you can't see her."

"Som'i." He wailed again and that was when Nahuel started to sing he had the most beautiful voice.

"There is this little song I wrote

Don't worry, be happy." He sang and I smiled as Alex's sobs soothed and I smiled at Nahuel, who grins back at me.

"See we don't have to worry about people who hate us that's their problem not ours." I said and Nahuel nodded. "Now there are some swings and I think a know a young man that might enjoy taking a ride on one." I say and and tickle Alex who laughs as I put him in the swing. I have to be careful not to over launch it, as it going gentle it goes up pretty high. I smile as Nahuel catches Alex's feet.

"I think I have an Alex." He says and Alex giggles. "What should I do with him should I let him go?"

"Go!" Alex agrees and Nahuel laughs.

"No I think I'll keep him." He said before letting Alex go. Alex shrieked in delight as I caught him and threw him to Nahuel.

"You know we could most probably just toss Alex back and forth with the way this is going." I said and he laughed.

"Swing is much safer though." He said and grabbed Alex before pushing him back, Alex giggled and clapped his hands delighted. After a while though Alex stopped laughing.

"No." He said very clearly and I smiled before easing him out. He started crawling toward the playing equipment and started to go up the stairs. I sighed and grabbed him putting him at the top, I knew Alex was stubborn and willful, I didn't envy Abigale in a few years if he already was like this at whatever age he was realitvely. He smiled at me before continuing to crawl towards the slide he reached it and slid down giggling happily. He crawled over and I helped him up again.

Eventually however he got tired and relaxed against me. I smiled down at him, his eyes were closed and I could tell he was close to sleeping. I went over to the swing and swung slowly back and forth until I heard a slight snore. Nahuel smiled at me and I smiled back over Alex's head. "Your great with kids." Nahuel said. "I want children someday and I couldn't think of a better person to have them with then you." I smile at him and wrap one arm around him.

"Thanks Nahuel I feel the same way." I reply and he gives me a hand up.

"Now lets go somewhere else since Sir Snoresalot is tired out we can do whatever for a few hours."

"Why don't we drop him off and ask Leah to watch him, she would be delighted and it would give us some time to get to know each other?" I ask and he shrugs.

"Isn't she like already busy with other people's offspring?" He asks me and I shake my head.

"There is no harm in trying." I reply and we drive over to Jake's house. I knocked on the door and Leah answered, she looked upset for a moment then smiled when she saw Alex sound asleep in my arms. "I was wondering if you would mind watching him?" I asked and she grinned.

"I would love to." She replied.

"How is everyone?" I ask and her smile falters again for a moment before its regained.

"Everyone is great, especially Jake." She replies and I know something is wrong.

"So what's up with Jake?" I ask her and she sighs.

"How can you always see through my facades?" She asks and I grin.

"Its a gift, now tell me!" I reply a little too forcefully.

"Nothing much, someone he liked started seeing another guy." She replies. "He's getting over it and actually managed to get drunk before passing out on the couch." Go figure werewolves do not get drunk usually no matter how much they drink.

"Well I hope he feels better soon." I reply as we leave together, that proved it Jake was gay if she had said girlfriend it would have been alright. Instead she said someone I knew that I was right and I had found out the 'secret' they were keeping from me. We walk together to the car and I smile at Nahuel. "Ever been cliff diving?" I ask him and he grins.

"No, but it sounds great." I smile at him and we drive to the cliff together. I don't really care that I'm wearing clothes, I've jumped in them before but I want my shirt to stay dry so I put it on the shore before climbing up, Nahuel's cool hand fitting perfectly in mine. We jump off the cliff together and land laughing in the freezing water.

"Take a deep breath I want to go underwater with you." He says and I smile. We dive together and its like a whole new world as the water ripples around us. We touch the bottom twenty feet below and he leans toward me and our lips touch. I smile at him as we kiss and in the middle I accidentally bite his lip at the same time he bites mine. Sharing blood with him is indescribable, we smile at each other and his eyes seem to sparkle under the water. Eventually though the moment has to end as we both start to feel the lack of oxygen. We kick off the bottom and launch up to the surface taking in air.

"I want to jump again." Nahuel said and I nodded, he wraps an arm around me and we go higher this time, He grins at me. "Ladies first." He says with a bow and I smile back before turning a few somersaults and hitting the water with a small splash. I tread water as he prepares to jump, his hair is wet and hanging slightly above his eyes. He jumps and turns in midair, doing the first steps of a waltz before he hits with a small splash. He doesn't come up but suddenly I feel my foot being dragged down. I let him tow me under and I smile at him as he starts to swim in the opposite direction of the current. I fallow him leaving the beach behind and going up the small river together, its easier after we don't have the current and I enjoy feeling the water. Together we surface in a world of green, he smiles at me and I smile back.

I smell something in the distance. "Deer!" I say and he grins.

"Lets hunt!" He replies and grabs my hand together we run through the forest and come upon a small herd of deer. We attack at the same time, taking down two of the older ones and sucking them dry. I smile as he finishes his meal and goes over to me kissing me with blood red lips. I can still taste the deer blood on his lips and in his mouth, something animistic in me roars and his eyes widen. We both bite down on each other, feeding off each other taking and giving each other life.

I smile and we lay in the meadow that previously was the deer's. We look up at the multifaceted clouds, I loved the sun but the clouds had their own beauty layered up each other. "Your so beautiful Nessie." He tells me and I can't help but hear the awe in his voice.

"I think you are too." I reply blushing.

"What do you want to do with your life? Are you going to travel?" He asked me and I shrugged.

"I haven't really thought of it, I might but what really interests me is how different we all are, I want to compose a book on the different races of humans, werewolves and vampires."

"How are the races different for werewolves?" Nahuel said

"Well they don't really have another race, more of a species, but I can't really say for certain. I might have to join the Volturi for a short time to talk to them about their experiences with vampires, it would really help other vampires to understand each other." I told him.

"I love this idea, but not all vampires are into understanding others as your family." Nahuel smiled at me. "They don't really care what the other side thinks as long as they leave them to suck blood in peace."

"Well I think its interesting, if no one else does." I replied and he looked into my eyes.

"I didn't say I think that I don't think it interesting, but before you do a study I think you should ask the permission of your subjects." Nahuel said and I nodded, well I suppose I could think of something else to do. "Nessie you should know, we are true immortals, I've tried to kill myself tired of existence tired of being a monster. I tried to cut off my limbs but couldn't even draw blood, I tried jumping into a fire and I didn't burn. I tried starving myself and I didn't die although I grew weak. I tried being bitten by another vampire and I didn't change, we are immortal." I stare at him and he nods. "We can never die, we have all of eternity I wonder if even after the world explodes we are going to be hovering in space."

"Have you tried not breathing?" I asked and he nodded.

"It was hard but I didn't breath for four days, my instincts fought for survival, for air but by the time I gave it up I was very much still alive. Its uncomfortable but manageable." I stared in his eyes he was completely serious, I would live forever never aging never changing. With him forever, I kissed him and he held me in his arms.

"I love you Nessie, with all my heart will you be my mate for all eternity?" He asked me and I smiled at him in reply.

"Of course, I tend to love you as well, you have my heart and my spirit soars when I see you."

"I can't come up with anything like that poetry, but when I find the right song to describe how I feel about you, I'll sing it to you." He said and kissed my forehead. I lifted my head and our lips touched gently, yes this is what I wanted for my eternity this man and this life. He made me feel complete inside in a way that the pack couldn't. He was a man the only man of my kind and I felt my heart flutter, I knew it was lame but it was the truth. I felt his lips touch mine and we gave each other blood, a part of him living within me, filling my stomach and my veins with sweet nectar, the essence of him. We pulled apart and I smiled he had a bit of blood on his lips whether it was his or mine I couldn't tell.

"Alright." I said and smiled at him we held hands until the sunset and we ran back together to the beach and our clothes. I put on my shirt and we got into the car together.

"I'll drive." He told me and I smiled in reply. I let the car start up loving the way he would glance over at me occasionally and our eyes would meet. We drove to Jake's house and knocked on the door. Leah answered smiling at us, Alex was sitting beside her.

"Ess'i." Alex said.

"Hello little guy." I pick him up and toss him gently into the air. He giggles and hugs me with his tiny arms. "Ready to go home?" I asked and he nodded yawning. We went back to the car together and drove back to the house together. I unbuckled Alex from his car seat and he smiled at me.

"Un'ry." He said and I smiled.

"You hungry?" and he he nodded, we took him inside and I gave him some cheese and crackers, I wasn't the best cook but I was better then the pack and that wasn't saying much. They appreciated my burned contrabutions and that was fine. After his crackers he smiled at me and I smiled back. "Well lets get you to bed." I said and he shook his head.

"Mo'i." He replied and I smiled.

"Alright mo'i." I said and took him into the living room. I put on Lady And The Trap but he fell asleep soon after it was started. Nahuel came in and smiled at Alex who looked adorable his chin was touching his chest as he slept in my arms.

"You are so good with him, I don't care how many times I repeat it but its so true." He said and I smiled switching off the television. I picked Alex up gently and he mumbled in his sleep. I smiled as we walked together back to the cottage. I put him in his cradle and he turned over, one little arm thrust out. Nahuel smiled and we stood over the cradle together watching him sleep. I smiled and we left together, getting into my bed and falling asleep wrapped in his arms.
