A/N: So I know I have not updated this in forever and I apologize. Work and school and some other things got the best of my time. And I know I meant for this to be a one shot but apparently a lot of people wanted to know what happened after Kyouya adopted the baby. I don't want to write another story so here goes chapter 2. And this might turn into a multi chap fic.
It was just over two weeks since Kyouya had taken Kimiko home. In that time Kyouya had gotten less sleep than he did during his ER residency. The little one constantly needed to be snuggled or fed and Kyouya was about at the end of his physical and mental stamina.
"I wonder if I was as needy as you when I was a baby," Kyouya commented as he looked at Kimiko, who was finally sleeping in her bassinette. He ran his hand through his hair and decided that he needed to get some sleep himself. He sank into the mattress next to the bassinette and shut his eyes. What seemed like only moments later he heard whimpering coming from next to him. He mentally sighed and swung his legs over the side of the bed. He walked over to Kimiko and picked her up and began rocking her. When she wouldn't calm down he realized she must need fed and went to kitchen to make her a bottle. The maids had offered to make all the bottles, but Kyouya knew that this was a bonding time for parent and child and insisted that he do it himself.
"Let me heat you a bottle and then we will get you fed and back to bed, hopefully," Kyouya sighed as he started to heat the formula. Just as he was testing the milk on his wrist his cell phone went off in his pocket. He knew that it couldn't be work because he had taken a leave until Kimiko was a bit older and she had adjusted to her surroundings. Kyouya decided that he would get the phone later and went back to the task of preparing her bottle. Then his phone was blown up by texts and he could only guess who that was that was trying to contact him, Tamaki.
"Daddy is going to have to get this one so that Uncle Tamaki doesn't think that we are dead," Kyouya said looking down at the baby. Setting the bottle on the counter momentarily he took out his cell phone and slipped it open. He hit the button to respond to the missed call. He inhaled in preparation for the slew of questions that were about to come his way.
"Mommy where were you? Why didn't you answer? I went to your work the other day and they said that you had taken a leave! Are you going to be ok?" Tamaki blurted out before Kyouya could say anything. Kyouya took a deep breath and started with his explanation.
"I am at home taking care of some things right now and am not able to be at work," Kyouya replied cryptically. Just then Kimiko started to cry.
"Kyouya was that a baby?" Tamaki questioned.
"Yes that was my daughter, Kimiko. She needs her bottle so I must get going,"
"I'll get the Host Club back together tomorrow at our restaurant. You have to come and bring the little one. 11AM ok?" Tamaki asked and then without waiting for an answer he hung up.
"Well you get to meet one of the sanest people in the world and five of the most insane people in the world," Kyouya commented as he fed Kimiko her bottle.
(the next day)
They next day Kyouya woke up, fed Kimiko her bottle, and called the driver around. Kyouya secured Kimiko in her carrier and carefully got into the car. The car sped off towards the restaurant that the host club used to frequent. Once there Kyouya stepped out of the car and walked to the door of the restaurant with Kimiko's carrier hanging on his left arm. He saw the hostess and told her who he was and why he was here. She said that they had the 'normal table' and Kyouya proceeded to the large table that they would use at the restaurant when in high school. Kyouya noticed that he was the first one there, which didn't surprise him, so he sat down and started to play with Kimiko's hand. Just then he heard a gasp and inwardly cringed.
"OH MYY GOD WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US ABOUT HER SOONER, MOMMY?!" Tamaki yell shouted as he rushed over to Kyouya's side. He looked at the little bundle in the carrier and made to touch her when a hand stopped his.
"Tamaki, why don't we wait until the others are here? The baby is resting and you don't want to disturb her," Haruhi chided as she looked at the tiny bundle in the carrier.
"How are you doing Haruhi?" Kyouya asked eyeing her.
"You know same old thing. Carrying the Suoh heir, like I have been for the past five months," she replied with a heavy tone. Ever since Kyouya had found out that she was pregnant with Tamaki's baby he had made sure she had the premium Ootori care. She had appreciated it and was thankful that she had a team of skilled doctors to help her with everything. She still got that nagging feeling from high school though that she owed Kyouya something, even though he had made sure to inform her that she owed him nothing in return.
"She is sooo cute Kyouya," two voices chorused as the twins walked over to the table. They came over to look in the carrier and were about to reach out for the little baby when Haruhi thumped them both on the head.
"Guys! Are you exactly like Tamaki, totally oblivious? The baby is sleeping! Let her get her rest," Haruhi huffed angrily.
"Kyo-chan she is adorable!" Another voice squealed and Hunny ran over to the baby carrier to get a better look at the sleeping baby. He didn't touch her much to Haruhi's relief. Mori came up behind him and nodded when he saw the baby.
"SO let's have some lunch and you can tell me how you acquired our beautiful new daughter," Tamaki said as he ordered water and tea for everyone.
"First of all, she is NOT your daughter, Tamaki. She is my beautiful baby girl. Second, if anyone is going to have a daughter of yours it will be your wife Haruhi," Kyouya bluntly pointed out.
"Oh yeah how is that going for you Haru-chan?" Hunny asked curious to see how his friend was progressing.
"Very well, thank-you. The doctor says that everything looks healthy. I don't want to know the gender though I always think that surprises are the way to go," Haruhi responded patting her tummy.
"Well Kyouya how about you tell us how this one got into your life?" the twins asked in unison.
"I adopted her from the hospital that I work at. She had pneumonia and almost died. The parents abandoned her there because she was sick, or so we think. I couldn't stop thinking about her and I kept visiting the NICU every day to make sure that she was doing alright. When I came back on the sixth week they were going to put her in an orphanage because no one wanted to adopt a weak baby. Right on the spot I decided that she was coming home with me and I signed the adoption papers. I named her Kimiko," Kyouya explained as he looked at the perfect human in the carrier.
"Wow, that's really touching Kyo-chan," Hunny commented. The other former host club members nodded in agreement. Just as Kyouya finished telling the story he saw Kimiko start to stir in her carrier. Her eyes popped open and she began to cry. Kyouya picked her up and began to rock her back and forth. He knew that Kimiko needed to be fed.
"I'm sorry you guys I have to feed her. She is quite the eater since she got out of the hospital," Kyouya commented. He was surprised when Haruhi stood up with him.
"I can take her Kyouya. I can feed her a bottle. After all I have to be doing it myself in a little while. You could use the break, too. By the looks of it you have been getting less sleep than when you were training to be a doctor," Haruhi offered. Kyouya relinquished his baby to Haruhi knowing that she meant well and also knowing that his girl was in perfectly capable hands. The only capable hands he knew of come to think of it.
He smiled as he saw Haruhi give the bottle to Kimiko, crooning and rocking the whole while. She was going to make a great mother to her child. Kyouya wished that he could have someone as great as her by his side. He didn't mind the work it took to help Kimiko, but he wouldn't mind the company of someone other than the maids either.
A/N: So that is where I am going to end it for now. I am very busy with studies and such so there might be some time between updates, but I do hope you enjoy.
