Hello.
Sorry about that chapter, well, not really. Your reactions amused me ;)
Luke's POV
"I did it." Nico said to me over IM.
I grinned. "Good..."
Nico's expression turned sombre. "Now will you tell me what you know?"
My grin widen. Foolish boy. "Of course, Nico. But only after Percy is in a prison, until then, I can't know where your loyalties lie."
His eyes suddenly burned with hatred. "You promise Castellan. You said Percy wouldn't get hurt if I gave Annabeth back to you."
"I did say that, but I didn't say that I wouldn't lock that scum away for the rest of his thieving, miserable life."
Annabeth's POV
"Nico! Please!" I screamed, battering the door.
How could he? I trusted him, Percy trusted him. I felt tears run down my face as I called desperately, but no one came. They were probably all on deck, steering the ship through the storm.
"Let me OUT! NICO!" I kicked the door as hard as I could, trying to break the door down, but to no avail.
I turned my back to the door and slid to the ground, putting my face in my hands.
How could I have been so stupid? No one would've suspected Nico, but why would he do this? Why would he betray his cousin, and to Luke of all people?
"Do not lose hope, Annabeth." A musical female voice rang quietly through the room. I recognised that voice. Looking up, I was the misty figure of a beautiful young woman. She looked strangely like me, but her eyes were blue.
Her name was Atalanta, and she was proclaimed to be the most beautiful woman on the island. She looked a lot like you, but with caring crystal blue eyes. I remembered Percy's words.
"Atalanta?" I said.
She smiled slightly, and nodded. "Yes. Please, you must listen closely, for I don't have much time.
"You mustn't hold what Nico did against him, for he didn't mean to harm either of you. All he seeks is information, and unfortunately his grieving heart led him to believe that this the right way to get it. Secondly, hard times are ahead of you, Annabeth. Whatever happens, whatever dangers occur, you mustn't give up on Percy. Sally and I know how you truly feel about him, and though you may deny it, Percy feels the same way about you."
I frowned. "What do you mean?"
"I haven't got time to explain, Annabeth, but don't leave him alone. Don't die for him, as much as it may pain you for him to die, he has already dealt with far too much to carry on if you died."
"So I'm just going to let him die?" I was suddenly furious. I couldn't stand and watch while he died! That's ridiculous, and selfish...
Atalanta didn't answer me, she shimmered and disappeared.
I re-thought her last words, and realised through my anger that she had a point. Percy had already lost his mother and Atalanta, but would loosing me really do that to him? Was I really that important to him?
Percy's POV
My ship continued to fire at the fleet even as we sailed away through the fog, the Argo in tow.
The storm battered against the ships, but we sailed on strong. The wind tore at the sails, our clothes, our hair. Sea water and rain drenched us to the bone, covering spots on the deck. Lightning flared in the sky, illuminating the shadows behind the wall of mist.
When the lightning flashed, I could see the outline of Ogygia approaching on the horizon, and a smile adorned my face. Calypso was letting me in!
Grover shouted at me and ran over, huffing for breath when he reached me. "Have you seen Annabeth, Captain?"
I gritted my teeth. Grover shouldn't have to call me 'captain'. "No, I haven't. Why?"
"We need her. I sent Nico to get, but we can't find either of them."
Panic started rising up in my throat like bile. "Search the ship, we have to find them!"
"Yes, captain." Grover ran off, calling orders for search.
Biting down my worry, I steered the ship through the typhoon, desperate to reach the island before the storm passed.
Please, Annabeth. I hope you're okay.
Annabeth's POV
Surely Percy wouldn't be so badly hurt if something happened to me.
What did Atalanta mean? I thought, Percy feels the same way about you. But how did I feel about him?
My thoughts were cut off when there was a banging at the door. I leapt to feet.
"Oh gods!" I cried. "Let me out, please."
There was sound of a lock being picked, and the door snapped open. Leo stood there, a screwdriver in his hands.
He flashed a grin.
"You picked a lock with a screwdriver?" I raised an eyebrow.
He shrugged. "I have many talents," He reached out and grabbed my arm, his long fingers wrapping all the way around. "Everyone's looking for you."
Leo lugged me along with him, as if I might need encouragement, like I was still a prisoner.
When we reached the deck, and I saw Percy standing at the quarterdeck, I couldn't stop my heart from doing a crazy flip. Despite the gale, my feet found their way towards him, pulling me from Leo's grasp and into Percy's.
Burying my face into his shoulder as he folded me into his arms, I mumbled, "Nico's the spy, Percy. I'm sorry..."
He pulled away, peering into my face as if to detect a lie. Now hurt was clear in his eyes. "Nico?" Realisation seemed to dawn on him, and he cursed. "And I blamed Thalia! SHIT!"
I cut off his rant with a quick kiss. Somehow, I couldn't help but feel incredibly sad, thinking that these could be my last moments with him if what Atalanta said was true. "Don't worry about that. We have to keep going."
After a moment, he nodded. "You're right."
I elbowed him. "Of course I'm right."
Sorry, short, probably boring. But, I've been busy.
Please R&R, more action to come. Oh my gods, we're nearing the end! I think?
I will be updating my other stories, to those of you who have begged me to update ;)
