Percy's POV
It seemed like the entire weight of the world had been lifted from my shoulder's when Annabeth appeared in the midst of the battle.
I held her in my arms, never wanting to let go, but the men on Luke's side wouldn't give us a break.
"Fight with me?" I said, pulling away.
Annabeth grinned and brought up her bloodied knife. "Always."
We charged back into the fight. Soldiers were falling under Riptide from all sides, and Annabeth tucked into their strikes and stabbed the chinks in the armour.
I saw Jason and Piper, lightning crackling around the two of them. Leo was swinging his hammer, knocking men to the ground.
Reyna swirled through the chaos, completely unstoppable.
Clarisse tore through the enemy with her giant spear, Gwen and Dakota fought side-by-side. Michael was firing arrow after arrow into the soldiers' armour, and Malcolm charged with his double-handed sword.
Beckendorf and Jake Mason threw jars of Greek fire into the mass of enemy soldiers.
I thought we were going to win, but then the Luke's army started surging forward, pushing us back. They out numbered us three-to-one, and a giant catapult was primed to fire.
The cavern roof was so high, the flying boulder didn't even skim the stone.
"SCATTER!" I yelled to my crew and the rock came sailing back towards the ground.
Another one of Luke's catapults fired.
"Leo!" I yelled, and he understood.
He rushed through the enemy and threw Greek fire at the wooden siege weapons. They went up in a blaze, crumbling to ashes, and the flames started spreading through Luke's forces.
"Hold your lines!" Luke's voice bellowed through the chaos. His army recovered and started to press forward against.
The pirates met them with more enthusiasm than order, but with our array of different weapons and fighting techniques, we were evenly matched.
Jason was striking men down with bolts of lightning that came from nowhere. Nico would materialise out of the shadows behind a soldier and cut him down, as well as causing rocks to fall from the ceiling and fissures to open in the floor, swallowing them whole.
I felt the ocean surging outside, below the cliffs. I called it to me, feeling the familiar tug in my gut.
Arms spread wide, I let out a ferocious yell and tons of seawater smashed through the caverns walls. I willed it to hover over my crew, and it collapsed onto Luke's legion.
Jason struck the water, sending arcs of electricity racing through the ranks. Water followed Riptide's movements as I slashed with the sword, knocking the enemy fighters to the ground.
Nico shadow-travelled through the water.
The rest of the pirate crews stared at the tree of us in awe. Within seconds, we'd wiped out an entire army.
All except Luke.
He yelled in absolute rage and started to advance on me.
"Get back to the ships," I told Reyna. "This is between me and Luke."
Grudgingly, Reyna nodded and ordered the pirates to head back to ship.
"No, way am I leaving you Seaweed Brain." Annabeth said, grabbing my hand.
I didn't want her to be in danger, but after Luke kidnapped her, I also didn't want her out of my sight.
Seeing my look, she added, "Percy, I can take care of myself."
Luke finally made his way to me, clutching his right arm to his side. Blood covered the side of his shirt.
"Really, Luke?" I taunted. "You'd face me wounded even when I outmatch you when in a normal fight."
He gritted his teeth, holding Backbiter in front of him. "I only need to kill you."
"So be it," I shrugged, and Annabeth and I charged.
Luke dodged my first swing, but had to jump back to avoid Annabeth's stab.
She stepped around him to target his back, forcing Luke to move closer to me, where he only just managed to block Riptide.
Luke tumbled away from us and rose to meet us, two-on-one.
He slashed out, grazing Annabeth's arm. Anger flaring through me, I body-slammed him, knocking him flat.
Luke rolled just as Riptide cracked the stone where his head had just been.
I needed to end this soon.
Kicking Luke's blade away as he swung at my legs, I slashed diagonally and he met my sword.
Locked at the hilt, I pushed Luke back.
According to Calypso, both Luke and I were destined to die in this battle.
He will be fatally wounded, and as you turn to celebrate, Luke will deliver a killing blow. Neither of you is going to survive this, Percy, she'd said.
I knew you can't avoid fate. But I couldn't die, I couldn't leave Annabeth.
Taking a deep breath, I concentrated on the cavern. Not only was my father's ancestor a god of the sea, but he was also the god of earthquakes.
The cave shook with so much power, it felt like the entire thing would tear from the cliff and plummet into the sea.
The roof started crumbling, the stone walls falling apart.
Luke was buried within moments, and I tried to stop the earthquake.
Panicking, I turned to Annabeth and tackled her to the ground, shielding her with me body.
"Percy!" She cried.
Unable to control the quake, I closed my eyes, only thinking of Annabeth as I held her in my arms.
Seeming to know what was happening, I felt her body shaking with contained sobs. She gripped me hand.
I just had time to say "I love you," before the ceiling came crashing down on top of me.
Hehe, sorry
So, that was shorter than I intended, and the fight wasn't as long as it should've been.
But its not over! Not yet
