Mikey carried Sora in his arms, breathing heavily.
Now that the initial danger had passed, he had started to feel pain again.
Before, he had been so filled with anger and hatred that he didn't even notice the pain. Now that they were out of danger, it came back with a vengeance.
"Mikey?" Sora whispered.
"Yeah, Sora?" He whispered back.
They were in the abandoned subway tunnels underneath the city.
Years of exploring them had left him with a good sense of direction. He figured they were at least three miles away from home.
Home.
" 'M cold." She shook, and Mikey held her tighter, ignoring the flare of pain in his ribs. He was in so much pain already, he guessed a little more pain wouldn't make a difference.
All he wanted to do was to lie down and sleep. Hopefully for a decade.
But he knew that in the cold subway tunnels, without any heat or medical attention, they would both die.
He was not about to break his promise to a little kid.
Without hesitation, he sped up the pace, limping heavily. Every step he took jarred his broken leg, splinted as it was, and sent chills down his shell.
Before he had busted them out of the prison, he had searched Shredder, finding his nunchakus and various items he kept on his belt on the man. He shuddered at the thought of them being anywhere near the man's-demon's-skin.
"You 'k?" Sora asked him. He looked down at her. Big blue eyes stared up into his. There was nothing but trust in them. Mikey vowed he wouldn't break that trust, even if it killed him.
He realized that it just might.
"I'm okay, don't worry." He chucked her under the chin, and she looked up at him adoringly.
Hey, guys! I didn't give up on this story, promise. I've been pretty sick the last couple of months, so I haven't been writing. But, no worries! I'm alive and I'll keep writing. I know this is pretty short, but I'm a little rusty, so bear with me, por favor. :D
When I got back on site and saw how many people reviewed, I swear to god I almost cried. :D
Then I smiled.
And began to plan.
