SkekUng the General was sleeping just like the other Skeksis. Suddenly, he was woken up by a humming or a whimpering sound and turned to face the wall thinking "Chamberlain". Then he felt something rubbing against him and turned around to see that SkekSil had moved his sleeping bag right next to SkekUng's and that his head and arms were rested across SkekUng's stomach. He shoved the Chamberlain off him and got out of his sleeping bag. No sooner had SkekUng went to the next room when he noticed that all the Skeksis were gathered at a table eating. That is, except for SkekOk the Historian, who was fast asleep with his head on his arms. SkekSil entered and sat right next to SkekUng. SkekEkt the Ornamentalist was busy juggling trying to prevent SkekAyuk the Gourmand from stuffing his face and trying to wake up SkekOk. The Skeksis were passing around a box of crawlies, that is except for SkekSo the Emperor, who was having essence. SkekUng knew that there was a prize at the bottom of the box and hoped that he would be the one to find it. Once SkekShod the Treasurer was finished he handed the box to SkekUng, who found that his portion contained no prize. He reluctantly handed the box over to SkekZok the High Priest, who poured out not only crawlies but a ring with swirling colours as well. SkekZok stood up and called out "I got it! I got the prize!" SkekUng hung his head and decided to go into another room. He walked into the next room where SkekNa the Slave Master and SkekTek the Scientist were sitting at a table by themselves. Upon noticing SkekUng, SkekNa warned "careful, the slaves just waxed the floor!" No sooner had SkekNa said this than SkekUng fell face-forward while the Scientist and Slave Master laughed. "Shut up!" cried SkekUng from the floor, "it's just a terrible horrible no good very bad day!" He got up and went upstairs to SkekSo's room to lay on his bed. The General had a special routine of laying on his Emperor's bed whenever he was having a bad day. It was sort of a comforting ritual and he would get off the bed as soon as he was done. He had never been caught before, but of course there has to be a first time for everything. After probably a few minutes, SkekUng heard a voice behind him cry "That bed belongs to only me, for I AM THE EMPEROR!" This caused SkekUng to fall off the bed and land on his back so that he was looking straight up at SkekSo. The General got up and ran down the stairs but knocked down the sleepwalking Historian about halfway down and they both fell the rest of the way down the stairs. "What was the big idea with knocking me down brute?!" whined a still half asleep SkekOk. Both Skeksis managed to get up and SkekUng went into a corner and sat down facing the wall. He hung his head and sighed "I'm having a terrible horrible no good very bad day." No sooner had he said this than he felt several hands on his back and shoulders. That's when he turned around to see the other Skeksis all standing around him and smiling.
