Chapter 6

For some reason the docks kept moving. No matter which direction he tried, he couldn't find the damn ship. It was wearing heavily on Zoro's nerves. No one had seen Law or Sanji, and he had already found everyone else on the island. That meant they both had to be back on the ship.

"But where the fuck is the damn ship?!" Zoro growled as he stormed his way through the village for the twentieth time. He had searched all day, and all night, and now he knew someone had to be fucking with him, He knew that Law could chop up people. Could he chop up land too? Forcing him to wander in circles with no end so Law could have the cook all to himself?

"That bastard! I know he's behind this!"

"Behind what?"

Hearing the familiar deep voice, Zoro shot his attention back to see Law walking up to him carrying what looked to be a bag of groceries. Zoro stood there and stared for a moment.

The doctor…

Was wearing one of Sanji's t-shirts.

The black one that had 'gentle cook' written across the chest.

For a moment Zoro was at a loss, but soon he was clenching his fists. "What the fuck have you been doing?"

Law quirked up a brow high. "I went out to pick up a few things for Sanji. What have you been doing? Your crew all came back last night and had no clue where you were." Law replied calmly as he came to a stop in front of the clearly agitated swordsman.

"I was looking for the damn dock all night." Zoro growled, losing his patience quickly.

Law lifted a hand and pointed. "Your ship is right there."

Blinking, Zoro looked back and found himself staring again when he saw Sunny only a hundred yards away. The rest of the crew bustling away on deck. He was silent for a moment before looking back at the doctor. Noticing the strange perplexed look on his tan… Scratched.. And bruised face…

Now that he was looking at Law, he could see all the bruises. The scratches. The.. Bite marks.. That littered the visible skin.

"What happened to you..?" he asked slowly. Law looked like he had been in a vicious fight with a seaking or three.

A lazy smirk curled the doctor's bruised lips as his grey eyes focused on the ship. "I let a blue devil catch me." he mused. "If you'll excuse me… I'm going to see if he'll catch me again.." he chuckled as he resumed course for the docks.

He took two steps then a large hand clamped hard on his arm. Law came to a stop and looked at the hand halting his progress. "… You are aware I can remove that, correct?" the doctor asked calmly as he looked up to meet the single amber eye glaring at him.

Zoro's free hand came to rest on the hilt of the white katana. "Just as you're aware I can remove your legs…" He seemed to rumble.

Law quirked up a thin brow. "… If you're faster than I am, possibly. Mind telling me what your malfunction is before we begin removing body parts arbitrarily?" he asked in the same calm tone he normally kept.

Zoro ground his teeth for a moment. "… What are you doing with the cook?"

Grey eyes blinked as Law tilted his head. "Nothing at the moment. Too busy being detained by you."

Having to pull back before he lost his temper, Zoro took a deep breath and took a step back… But his hand remained on Wadou's hilt. "What intentions do you have with him?"

"Heh.. Whatever he'll let me get away with. He's got quite the dirty imagination…" He trailed off as his smirk slowly returned. "Mmm.. Flexible… Anyway, what difference does it make to you? You've no claim on him."

A vein at Zoro's temple began to twitch. "He's part of my crew…"

The way the green haired man trailed off had the doctor frowning. It was a rather obvious statement. "And..? Do you have a point?" After a moment of thought, a wide smirk was on Law's lips as he snapped his fingers and pointed at the swordsman. "Ah. I get it. I have to make him a member of my crew. Perfect. I'll get right on that. Thanks." he called out before heading back for the docks.

Zoro was left, a tad dumbstruck at the strange jump to that very.. Unexpected conclusion. It was only when Law was on the boardwalk that he shook from his shock. He half ran and half stormed his way after the doctor. "Hold it right the fuck there! Where do you get off thinking something that?!" he demanded.

Law chuckled and glanced back to the larger man closing in on him. "It only makes sense. I'm a captain and a doctor, so all I really need is a cook. With Sanji's experience at sea, he could easily take over navigations. It's the perfect set up. I'm glad you suggested it."

"I suggested no such thing, bastard! Get back here!" Zoro snapped as he made ready to attempt another grab.

Law grinned wickedly over his shoulder. "Sorry, you need to make an appointment." he called out coyly before suddenly ducking down.

Before Zoro could begin to think why the doctor ducked, he was nearly knocked off his feet when a clingy rubber idiot suddenly smacked directly into him. "GAH! Luffy! Let me go!" He barked as he tried to struggle against the rubbery limbs that readily locked around him.

Luffy was giving his dreaded pouting glare at his first mate before smooshing the swordsman's pissed face with his hands. "Not until you tell me what you were doing last night! You were hogging food and fights again, weren't you?!" He demanded as he began searching all of Zoro's pockets for any lingering food.

"I've done no shuch shing, Baka!" Zoro nearly snarled, though it came out a bit slurred as his face was violated. His gaze shot up and darted around, but the damn doctor was gone. "Goddammit, Luffy! I'm not in the fucking mood right now!" he growled as he struggled against the octopus he called captain, but Luffy was determined to find something.

Peeking out the galley door, Sanji let out a low chuckle t the scene on the dock. "Impressive…" He glanced towards the smug doctor that was putting away the groceries. "Anyone would think you're getting used to the way this cracked ship works." he called out before shutting the door and locking it.

"I pride myself on being able to adapt." Law replied simply as he easily placed all the fresh ingredients precisely where Sanji kept everything. He had made a point to observe the way the blond liked things.

Which Sanji noticed quickly. He moved over to the bar and hoisted himself up on it. He folded his long legs under him and watched the doctor. Eyes lingering on the way his favorite shirt moved over the toned body. It made him feel rather smug himself. "While you're doing a very good job adapting, I'm wondering if you should provoke the marimo so much. He's a dick, but he's a protective dick."

"A first mate worth their salt has to be. However I won't stand idly by while there's something worth taking." Law closed the pantry and leaned against the opposite side of the bar. Inches away from Sanji as he looked to those blue eyes he found fascinating. "I wouldn't be able to call myself a pirate if I didn't take what I wanted…"

That purring tone did things to him as he leaned in and pressed his forehead against Law's. He closed his eyes and hummed softly. "Not all pirates are like the ones from North blue…"

Law's eyes were closing as well as he took in the warmth and closeness of a familiar sign of affection. Sharing the innocent touch was a symbol of trust in their corner of the world. Trust was the rarest treasure in the north. "All other pirates have no clue what's really out there… You… Me… Lost in a sea of fools…" Law whispered.

"Hm.. True…" Sanji let out a soft sigh and let the silence engulf them for a moment. "… But the world would be very bleak if they were all like the north."

"Only a matter of time, Sanji… The world will burn before it will get better…"

Blue eyes opened. ".. I'm not afraid of fire…"

Grey eyes opened. They stared into blue quietly until a soft chuckle left Law. "You are a treasure, Sanji… Please let me steal you."

A soft sad smile curled Sanji's lips as he pulled back. "You know I can't."

"Heh.. Thwarted by a rubber idiot.. I'll never live it down." Law mused as he looked away.

"The rubber idiot can't be underestimated." Sanji mused as he watched the doctor for a moment. Eventually, Sanji shifted closer on the bar top. He draped his arms over the strong shoulders. Holding Law loosely as he nuzzled a pierced ear. "But… As long as you're allied with Luffy… I don't see why you can't borrow."

Law glanced back and smirked. "Without asking?"

"What kind of pirate asks?"
