Littlest Longbottom
Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months, Hermione's pregnancy was progressing rapidly. The twin's movements were becoming more evident as the weeks went by and she was already aware they'd be a handful. The feeling of nausea was completely gone, something she wasn't looking forward to repeating any time soon. Clothing that had fit a few weeks ago were thrown at the back of the wardrobe ready to be resurfaced when the twins were born.
Even though the nausea had disappeared she had slowly gained new difficulties that she blamed on her pregnancy. She had mastered, as Blaise called it, the waddle. She would now 'waddle' wherever she went, her hips and shoulders swaying as her feet punched the ground. Her ankles, and wrists were swollen and her breasts had continue to develop that she could no longer even the process the thought of not wearing a bra.
She had ballooned from her original size and as she stared in the mirror she could only see a hippo staring back at. No matter how many times Blaise flowered her with affection she did not see how she could be stunning when she was still so huge. The twins had destroyed the body she was once proud of, yet even though she hated her shape she wouldn't change it, in a little over a month her boys would be born and her two treasures would be all she needed.
Though the pregnancy was difficult Hermione discovered advantages to it, she always took advantage of Draco's offers of a massage. What the blonde could do with his hands was pure bliss. Aches and pains would dissolve at his touch, her toes curled when he pressed on a sore spot, with each massage she fell more in love.
Blaise had always been good in the kitchen but now she favoured everything and anything fattening, bread sticks dipped in melted cheese, marshmallows dipped in runny chocolate. The cheesiest pizza topped with meaty toppings followed by a large bowl of ice cream drizzled with strawberry sauce and sprinkles. The boys found her increased appetite bamboozling but she didn't care, the pregnancy had destroyed her once tiny figure so she was going to enjoy her time eating for three.
In the last four weeks more and more girls were announcing their pregnancy, both Patil twins were expecting, and even Seamus Finnegan had finally stepped up to the mark and impregnated Millicent Bullstrode. It was only the other day that George Weasley had owled everyone and anyone telling them he was going to be a father in eight months' time. She had chuckled when she had read the note, Molly Weasley was going to have her hands full, nearly all her children were expecting the arrival of tiny feet in the next year. That's a lot of knitting for one woman.
Draco was out, he had left an hour or so ago to speak with Professor Snape. So when the front door opened while she was seated on the sofa reading her favourite book, she didn't think much of it. Blaise was sat in the arm chair beside the fire, the Daily Prophet in his hands. Completely ignoring the door opening or he never heard it Blaise turned the page, the Quidditch results were printed half way down just below the latest product from Zonko's joke shop.
Rolling her eyes at Blaise Hermione turned to see Draco walking into the living room. He placed a kiss on her lips before lowering on to the seat beside her.
"You'll not believe what I've just heard," said Draco, his usual smirk on his face but his eyes shined brightly.
"Get on with it Draco," said Blaise rolling his eyes at the blonde.
"I ran in to Pansy while I was out and she's informed me that the littlest Weasel went into labour early this morning. Baby Longbottom will be making an appearance very soon."
Hermione sat up in her seat staring at Draco in shock, Ginny was having her baby. Had it really been seven months since she sat on the floor of her bathroom sobbing at the thought of being pregnant and Ginny revealing the news to her of her own baby growing inside of her. It really shouldn't have been a surprise Ginny had been due seven days ago and today was 1st of August. The last two days had been filled with celebrations, Neville's birthday had been two days ago and Harry's was yesterday. It seemed there would be another birthday to celebrate in the future.
"When is Red's birthday?"
"Ginny's birthday is the 11th of August. It'll be an expensive two weeks in that house hold in years to come that's for sure." Said Hermione beaming. She couldn't wipe the smile off her face. Ginny was having her baby. "This is so exciting," She squealed unable to keep her excitement contained for any longer. The twins chose that moment to move and she wished deeply the boys due date would arrive quicker.
"I'm sure we'll receive word when the baby is born, so go back to your book." Said Blaise turning back to his own reading material.
She rolled her eyes at him again and turned to Draco. "Did Pansy say what time Ginny went into labour?"
"Nope, just the early hours of the morning."
"Okay," she grabbed her book but as hard as she tried she just couldn't stay interested with the words on the page. This school year had been the hardest year so far. So much had happened since September, she had gotten married to two men, both of whom where Slytherin, she'd fallen pregnant and was slowly progressing through pregnancy, in 6 weeks times she would be holding her two sons in her arms for the first time. So many of her friends were expecting their first child, all excited and a little nervous but Ginny was the first of her friends to actually have a baby.
Several hours had passed and yet there was still no word, Hermione stood by the large bay window looking out to the garden.
Strong arms wrapped around her waist, large tanned hands resting on her large bump. "Babies can take a long time, she may not have her till the morning." Hermione relaxed into Blaise's hold, his aftershave wafting softly around her. "I know, I'm just so excited for her. She's been so miserable since her due date passed and there was no movement."
"Sounds to me as the kid is already as stubborn as her mother, god help Longbottom."
Hermione rolled her eyes but she secretly agreed, Ginny was downright stubborn and if the baby turned out like her mother Neville was in for a long life.
"She'll come when she's ready to come," And Blaise was right, several more hours passed with no word, Hermione had eaten her lunch and the trio had even sat down for their evening meal. All the while Hermione continued to look out of the window but eventually she gave up. It was quarter past 10, she was tired the two boys had even gone to sleep, both claiming that they were also tired. As she locked the door Hermione climbed up the stairs to bed, tomorrow, tomorrow Ginny was going to have the baby.
Hermione was nudged awake by Draco. "Go back to sleep," she mumbled rolling away from him to bury her face in Blaise's chest.
"Hermione, there is an owl waiting for you," Her eyes opened and she rose into a seated position and stared at the owl with glee. It was a Hogwarts owl, and she knew exactly what would be written on it.
Draco had already gotten out of bed and removed the letter from its beak. He fed the owl a few nuts before it flew out of the window.
Hermione took the letter from Draco's hand and tore it open. She slid the letter out of the envelope and quickly skimmed the note.
Dear Hermione,
I hope this owl doesn't wake you, but I'm excited to inform you of the great news that at 10:37pm on the 1st of August Franchesca Marie Longbottom was born weighing 9lbs 2ounces. It was a difficult birth but both Ginny and baby are healthy and doing well. Ginny is to stay in the hospital wing for another few days but she's so excited to be out and about with our baby.
We've enclosed a picture inside of little Frankie inside. We hope you are well.
Love
Neville.
As Hermione turned to the grab the envelope she found it already out of reach, the picture already in Blaise's hand. Leaning against him she gasped as she stared at the picture.
She had a round chubby face with sparkling brown eyes, her nose was petite and she had a fair dusting of ginger hair that would no doubt fall out in a few days' time. She was however the spitting image of Neville. Hermione continued to stare at the little girl in adoration, she was truly beautiful.
Not my best, nor is it my favourite. This chapter just didn't seem to flow like I wanted it to do but I'm happy to release it like this. Originally Ginny was having her baby earlier in July but I decided to change it to the 31st but that changed upon realising it was Harry's birthday so I took it back a day but then that was Neville's so I decided she could be born on the 1st of August.
There is only one more chapter left, and that's the biggy. You'll be introduced to little Frankie and finally after many years of waiting the twins will finally appear.
Please review, this story has become very difficult to write for, so I'm truly asking for a boost to get the final chapter up. It would mean a great amount.
