Bluepaw stared at Crookedpaw for a few heartbeats before smiling. "Of course I came. Why wouldn't I come?" she asked him her blue eyes filled with surprise but soon the surprise faded from her gaze.

"Well, we're from different clans, and I thought that you wouldn't come because I'm from Riverclan and you're from Thunderclan," Crookedpaw meowed looking at her the tip of his tail twitching back and forth.

"Yeah, we're from different clans but we're only hanging out as friends," Bluepaw meowed mildly.

"Yeah, I guess as long as we don't act like we're friends in battle then there shouldn't be a problem," Crookedpaw meowed agreeing with her.

"Yeah, even if we did act like friends in battle I wouldn't give up our friendship," Bluepaw meowed.

"Really? Why?" Crookedpaw asked her looking at her in surprise.

"You remember how I told you that the Windclan medicine cat killed my mother?" Bluepaw asked him.

"Yeah, I remember," Crookedpaw meowed.

"Well, after she died I fell into a sort of depression and I started being really mean to everyone. Since talking to you I've found a reason to be happy again and I'm in a better mood because of you," Bluepaw meowed.

"Well, I'm glad I could help. Maybe you should thank me by giving me some prey," Crookedpaw meowed the last part was said in a teasing tone.

"You arrogant furball, I can't let you still prey from my clan," Bluepaw huffed pretending to be mad.

"No, I guess not," Crookedpaw meowed agreeing with her.

"Well, anyway I want to know more about you. I'm not telling you to give away any of your clans secrets but I want to hear about your family," Bluepaw meowed looking at him with wide blue eyes.

"Well my father is Shellheart, my mother is Rainflower, and my brother is Oakheart," Crookedpaw meowed smiling.

"Wow, your father is deputy, you're really lucky," Bluepaw meowed.

"I-I guess so," Crookedpaw meowed his smile vanishing.

"What is it? Was it something I said?" Bluepaw asked him alarmed.

"No, I'm glad my dad is deputy, but my life isn't really that lucky," Crookedpaw told her.

"Why do you say that?" Bluepaw asked him tilting her head to the side.

"Well, I wasn't born with the name Crookedpaw," he meowed hesitatingly.

"I figured that, how did you end up with such a terrible name?" Bluepaw asked genitally hoping that he wasn't offended by her question.

"My mother," Crookedpaw meowed.

"Wait your brother broke your jaw," Bluepaw gasped jumping to the wrong conclusion.

"N-No, of course not," Crookedpaw meowed surprised that she would jump to such a conclusion. "After I broke my jaw she went to Hailstar and asked him to change my name from Stormkit to Crookedkit," he meowed.

"You broke your jaw when you were a kit?" Bluepaw asked sounding horrified.

"Yeah, because of that reason I was held back from my apprentice ceremony. I was very sick when I was healing from my broken jaw," Crookedpaw meowed with a sigh.

"Oh, so that's why your brother is a warrior already and you're not," Bluepaw meowed frowning.

"Yep," Crookedpaw meowed.

"So, your mother asked Hailstar to change your name and he agreed to it?" Bluepaw asked.

"Yep," Crookedpaw meowed.

"How could he just agree to something like that?" Bluepaw hissed lashing her tail back and forth, her blue eyes blazing with anger.

"Because if he didn't comply it would mean going against her wishes," Crookedpaw meowed.

"Did your father and brother support her changing your name?" Bluepaw asked.

"No actually it was what made my father and mother break off their relationship," Crookedpaw meowed.

Bluepaw frowned when she heard Crookedpaw and shook her head. "You would think that, that would have changed her mind," she meowed.

"Well, it didn't but I know they still love each other even if they won't admit it to themselves," Crookedpaw meowed.

"Oakheart is always trying to cheer me up," Crookedpaw meowed.

"Well, that's good," Bluepaw meowed. "I still want to know how you broke you jaw," she meowed quietly.

"Well, my brother was with me when I broke my jaw," Crookedpaw meowed.

"He was?" Bluepaw meowed looking surprised.

"Yeah, he was the one who went to get help," Crookedpaw meowed frowning.

"So, how did it happen?" Bluepaw asked looking at him. "If you don't want to talk about it I understand," she meowed looking away. She really did want to know how he had broken his jaw but she didn't want to force him into telling her something that he didn't want to talk about. She knew what it was like to have some story that she didn't want to talk about but she had also learned that holding in emotions only hurt everyone in the end. She had already told Crookedpaw about her mother and now she just wanted to know a little more about him. Though of course if he didn't want to really talk about it she would understand and would change the subject to something else.

"No, it's okay I don't mind talking about it," Crookedpaw meowed.

"Well, that's good," Bluepaw meowed waiting for him to continue.

"When I was three moons old me and my brother snuck out of camp. I was very adventurous and was always dragging my brothers on adventurous. So when we snuck out of camp we headed towards Sunningrocks. When we got there we saw a cat picking herbs near the river and of course sunning rocks was in the distance. We wanted to confront the tom ask him why he was on Riverclan territory. Because of the way he looked he was a loner or rogue so we crossed the river and he ended up chasing us. I lost my footing on one of the rocks and my face slammed into one of the rocks and I broke my jaw," Crookedpaw meowed.

"You said you though the cat was a loner or rogue but you say that like the cat wasn't really a loner or rogue," Bluepaw meowed titling her head to the side.

"That's right he wasn't." Crookedpaw meowed suddenly looking nervous.

"Then who was it?" Bluepaw asked noticing how Crookedpaw suddenly seemed nervous but she had to know.

"Goosefeather," Crookedpaw meowed.
